I have the same issue! I purchased a nano 6th, polar hrm so I could run and receive spoken feedback when my heart rate was outside my preset zone. My suunto t3 used to beep when outside the preset zones. Automatic, periodic beeps or spoken feedback is the most important information to receive during exercise. I hope apple can update the software to add this simple yet critical feature.

I was thinking that you may need to reset the iPod Nano, outlined here How to reset iPod http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1320.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and Volume Down button simultaneously for at least eight seconds or until the Apple logo appears. You may need to repeat this step.
If the above step did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep. Try resetting the iPod while it is connected to power.
If that doesn't quite get the iPod going again, then it will need to be restored. Use this article to help with that Restoring iPod to factory settings http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1339.

Ok so sorry for clogging the community!! I figured it out - you have to copy your videos into itunes manually. I did that, synched and all good!

I have uninstalled itunes and reinstalled itunes. I have tried various cables and know they are compatible for charging the ipod, what else could it be?

I have the iPod nano 6th generation, and I have had it since Christmas 2011 so it isn't that old; recently I went to listen to my music and found that the volume increase button is stuck (basically it's like when you press the volume button down to increase the volume, except it is stuck down like that and won't come back up) but it was only stuck about 3/4 of the way down. For about a week this was ok, I just had to press the button harder to make it go down and increase the volume, but now it won't increase the volume at all and it feels and looks as though the button is stuck the whole way in, even when I press the button with some force. This happened to me a few weeks ago. Instead of taking it to the Apple store and paying $ the 99 service charge ( I did give Apple 139.00 13 months ago! for this ipod), I saturated the end of a q-tip w/ WD 40 and carfefully rubbed around the perimeter of the power button. I waited a half hour and then cleaned of the excess WD 40. This unstuck my power button. I guess the WD 40 dissovled all the dirt under and around (also the consrtuction of the buttons is done w/ double sided tape-- maybe a design issue) the button. A friend tried isopropyl alcohol w/ great results. Try this before you give Appple any more $$ or get a new ipod. It's been 6 wks. and my button functions perfectly,
