I have itunes 10.6.1.7. Whenever I try to sync my ipod touch 4g on windows 7 it says unable to load data class. I cant even go to preferences to reset the data sync because it keeps freezing. Can I have some help?

When I turn on itunes it starts to back up on step 2 and then just takes forever showing a candy cane bar thing.

as stated in the title, i when i try to sync my new ipod touch to my computer it says its unable to connect due to unkown reasons. the music is listed on my touch as there, but faded (minus a selected few songs) and therefore are unplayable. i have no idea where to start, i figured downloading the newest itunes update, however, it no longer shows up when i start it up. confused.

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

- Try another cable and USB port
- Unsync all music and resync
- Reset all settings

Try a hard reset and see if you can get the Apple logo to light up.

HT204408 My applications folder has a black question mark on it at the bottom of my screen. I do not know what error I made, but my fan effect of the previous applications has gone away. Can I get some help with this?

One day ago I inadvertantly removed my applications folder. In it's place is a folder with a black question mark which appeared after I attempted to open up the applications file. If you trashed it and emptied the trash, what backup, if any, do you have? If it's still in the Trash, move it back.
If no backup, reinstall Snow, which will give you the version as of the DVD you use, then update back to 10.6.8, and run all other needed updates, including any security updates. This should save all your third party programs, as well as settings.
The white puff of smoke is nothing, it only means you moved it out of the Dock. If you still have it, or had it, as soon as you open it it would reappear in the Dock. The item in the Dock is only a kind of alias.

B-rock, thanks for posting the above. I actually have the same issue, running Windows XP and I don't have that backup location, \Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\. When I go to Documents and Settings\(username)\ there's a AppData folder followed by:\LocalLow\DataMngr\ .
I have the latest update, 5.0.1 and I have the iPod Touch 3rd gen.
I have tried removing itunes and all that is associated with it then reinstalling and keep getting the same message. I've reset my ipod thinking that would help but still, no backup.
In iTunes, Edit, Preference, Device there are no backups.
What am I doing wrong, can you help?

Can you check the health of your iPod Hardisk, by doing the iPod Disk Diagnostics as posted earlier by tt2, it wont fix your problem, but helps in troubleshooting.

Have you tried "Run" instead of "Save?"
Do you have anti-virus software on the PC? If you do, try disabling the anti-virus for just 15minutes to allow the download to finish.

My macbook pro keeps crashing and resetting the date and time

I'm having a problem with my 2010 Macbook pro(ios6.1) with crashing. After it happens I need to reset the date and time. I also have a problem with iphoto, the program won't open. I have reintalled it serveral times and after the update it won't open just the circulating circle appears. I'm running on Mac OS X version 10.6.8 If any one can help it would be greatly appreciated. If you have to reset the date and time, it may be that there is a power interruption. I would try a SMC reset.
