I have just updated Firefox on my desktop. In order to operate it had to disable avast, my open source excellent anti virus software - a surprise that Firefox is compatible! Is there an avast! update that is compatible? Or a fix from Firefox coming?
I prefer using Firefox over other browsers however I will have to switch if there isn't a fix. I am surprised since it is an excellent open source anti virus software.
Don't disable your antivirus software!
Can you explain the problem in more detail? These two issues come to mind:
(1) Avast protects against program changes. When Firefox changed, Avast blocked it, and you do not have an obvious way to approve the change.
(2) One or more Avast browser add-ons has not yet been marked as compatible with Firefox 5, so those add-ons were disabled. However, this has no effect on your protection outside of Firefox.

Yes. There is no Superdrive. You cannot play DVDs or CDs.
You will need to buy an external DVD player/burner. Almost all will do the job, just make sure you can connect it, as your iMac does not have Firewire or USB2 (USB3 is backwards compatible).
Or there is of course the expensive one from Apple. -

Decrypt the files using the same Windows application you used to encrypt them.

I have just clicked on my iTunes desktop icon and got the following message "The file iTunes Library.itl" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes. Why has this occurred when it working fine? Is it best to update iTunes to 10.2 to attempt to resolve? Initially I got the prompt Quicktime was out of date so I updated that successfully in all programs. I do not want to lose my iTunes library.
Sorted problem updated and reinsatlled and restarted computer.

My macbook pro is still under warranty. I have just put it into Mac 1 to be repaired because I had the folder with the dreaded Question mark on it....new hard drive. I was told that if I wanted my data retrieved, I would have to pay $445 p/h. Ahh!!! Shouldn't that be covered by warranty?
My newest Mac just did the same "folder of death" dance. It's too late for you now, but you might consider a passport backup drive.You can get 2&3 T-bytes now fairly reasonably priced. A given with computers is they will crash, just a question of how bad and when, so you can be prepared for the next time.

My MBpro has been running some kind of app in the background upon turning on, heating up for no cause. Is this normal since Snow Lepard? It's been updated and I also have anti-virus software too.

also check activity monitor - all processes - see what's using up most of your cpu resources under % CPU....
highlight anything that's really high and hit quit process......anything over 10% is considered high - unless it's your browser....

Firefox Hello is simply a wrapper for technology already in Firefox, it doesn't negatively impact performance if you aren't using it. Are you saying that your entire computer is slow or just Firefox?

I got a message to up grade Firefox so I did. At a certain time in the process a message came up and said that you have some add ons that aren't compatible with this software so they will be disabled. At this time I tried to stop the up grade because I don't like things just being disabled, but it would not allow me to do so. As I continued to the next screen it told me that the software that was disabled was my anti-virus software. I run a business on my computer and am not happy that the protection of my computer and its contents is at risk.
Firefox 4 is itself no longer supported and is not secure so the choice is between firefox 5 and firefox 3.6.

Foxfire wants me to update but it says it will disable some of my kesperski anti virus software
I get a message that there is a newer version of firefox but when I go to install it there is a message saying it will interfere with my Kesperski anti virus software. may as well go back to IE if there are security issues with firefox and those updates conflict with a-v stuff. I have updated Kesperski but it still does not work.
hello, this message is only referring to the extensions that kaspersky adds to the browser (which offer some sort of additional functionality). however this won't affect the anti-virus protection of kaspersky at all - it will work as usual. therefore it's best to update firefox as soon as possible...

I have a apple ipod touch but recently I restored all the settings, as well as the applications. But now I am not able to add songs to it. There is blank screen that shows the symbol like to connect to itunes first. I'm not able to use that... Please help
The iPod's firmware is corrupt. You'll need to restore it again in iTunes. If necessary, place the iPod in recovery mode for iTunes to recognize the device. Use the instructions in this Apple support document to walk you through the process of placing the iPod Touch into recovery mode.

KarinbandI concur with Etresoft. If they persist in their demands for you to install AV software and turning on a firewall, ask to speak to a manager of the bank and suggest to them that you are seriously considering changing banks. That usually changes their tune.
