I item remaining in i.e. - swf files "a toughy though"

HI all hope your all good. Bit of a toughy for u to get your
heads round. (its a little long but its a tester for u real
webmasters)
i.explorer. active x controls - swf files load but the i.e
browser still says 1 item remaining. cause <object> tags. My
site has an email form that uses php to send to a mail server. this
works fine on all browsers except i.e. due to the fact it can't
excercute due to the page has not fully loaded.
SO
Use deconcept swf object, I hear you all cry.
Problem being is this.
My site is based in flash. In flash it has a stage width of
430 x 430pixels. But the file has an actual area of 1482 x 1482
pixels (this is for background image and any imported swf files
bigger than 430x430). Then the swf file is then put into a html
page with a a setting of center, WIDTH="100%" HEIGHT="100%". SO the
browser always centres the swf and no matter how big the browser is
made displays all the flash. for example your browser is 1024 x 768
you will see the swf stage 430x430 but also all the background
detail which will fill the remaing browser space, giving the site
greater impact.
Then i use the i.e update to stop active x sillyness.
"<script type="text/javascript" src="
http://www.uyrproduction.com/ieupdate.js"></script>"
But this doesn't stop the 1 item remaining bug. (give me
strength)
So swfobject is the all browser answer to all my problems.
but unforunately when set to w100% h100% (as below)
<script type="text/javascript">
var so = new SWFObject("mysite:-).swf", "A pint to the man
who can solve this "100%", "100%", "6", "#000000");
so.addParam("quality", "high");
so.addParam("wmode", "transparent");
so.write("flashcontent");
</script>
it only displays the 430 x 430 flash stage and not all the
background info as mentioned before. I've put the setting to the
actual pixel size i.e.
var so = new SWFObject("mysite:-).swf", "A pint to the man
who can solve this "1482", "1482", "6", "#000000");
alas, this the right size but not centered and has scoll
bars, boo. tried all sort of java script to sort it out but to no
luck.
the person who can help will be in my good books for ever
more.
Cheers
Bob

and what is entered for the site root url, and is that
correct?
It should be the url to the site, such as
http://www.example.com/
or
http://www.example.com/mysiteisinasubfolder/
If you let contribute or dw "guess" at this, it can often get
it wrong,
because it will go with the combination of the ftp address
and the host
directory entry. So it will try something like

  • Importing another swf file into the flash-homepage (swf is a gallery)

    hi there!
    have a problem that i cant resolve myself ..
    i downloaded a free of use gallery from juliuswebdesign.com (this gallery) and i'm trying to load it in my flash site ..
    now, the gallery works if i open it directly (i open the swf file)
    BUT
    when i try to load the external swf file into my site
    loadMovie("image_gallery.swf", box);
    then the movie loads .. the gallery is displayed the message "loading xml file" displays and then when the xml is loaded the message "loading image 1/7" displays and only the first image loads.
    once the first image is loaded it will not be displayed (it remains outside of my swf file .. i can see it when i resize the window) and no other images will be loaded.
    if i open the gallery.sfw file again everything works fine .. the problem is only if i try to load the gallery.swf in another swf ..
    something must be wrong ..
    i tryed to opern the gallery.fla file and copt everything directly in my site and the problem remains the same .. only 1 image loaded and not displayed in the gallery ..
    i'ts like something in my site "blocks" the gallery beeing loaded..
    any suggestions?

    to the gallery's fla add the following and retest:

  • When I reload an HTM page using a SWF file like a   menu, the HTML page doesn't shows the SWF again!

    Dear Sirs,
    I hope to be directing my question into the correct forum's place.
    I'm new in flash and I'm trying to make some tests
    My problem is the following:
    I included one SWF file into 3 HTM pages.
    This SWF works as a little menu.
    The SWF file (named "menu.swf") contains 3 items working as command buttons to access the three different HTM pages
    Each HTM page contains the same "menu.SWF" file, some HTML text and one picture.
    The swf contains:
    Button 1 -> calls page1.htm using:
                on (press) {
                getURL("./page1.htm", "_top");
    Button 2 -> calls page2.htm using:
                on (press) {
                getURL("./page2.htm", "_top");
    Button 3 -> calls page3.htm using:
                on (press) {
                getURL("./page3.htm", "_top");
    When I enter to "page1.htm" it appears correctly showing the swf file and all the HTML text.
    It is OK.
    But when I'm in "page1.htm" and I click on "Button1" (to reload "page1.htm") the only thing that I can see (after reloading page1) is the HTML text and the picture, but I cannot view the "menu.swf" file.
    "menu.swf" remains in its place, but "invisible".
    You can click on its command buttons, but anytime I click on the button that loads the same page (for example: "Button 1" to reload "page1.htm") the
    swf file(s) doesn't appears.
    The same thing happens when I'm in page 2 with Button 2 to reload page2 .htm, and so on.
    How can I do to solve this problem?
    Sorry for my not good english but I'm spanish speaker.
    Thank you!
    Gus

    The path in the buttons is not correct once you navigate to the htm page.
    So here you are on the landing page and the menu button says to get to "page1.htm" go up one folder level  (../) to the file page1.htm.
    Now once you are up one level, either you loose access to the .swf because from that page the path to the .swf is not correct, or if the .swf does show, then the path in the buttons back to the other pages is not correct, because you are now one folder level higher.
    If I am mis-reading your post and all pages are in the same folder, then remove the "../" part before the page name in the URL. Or perhaps you are using ./ to denote the current directory... I'd still suggest removing it. So the the getURL would look like this :
    getURL("page1.htm", "_top");
    if all pages are in the same folder.
    And if I am reading your post correctly, then you cannot use the same button URL to get to ("./page1.htm", "_top"); and once on page1.htm use that same URL to get back down to your landing page.
    So I'd say it's a pathing problem.
    Give that a try and see if it helps.
    Best wishes,
    Adninjastrator

  • How do I script SWF files instead of JPG files in XML loader?

    I have a SWF loader (greensock.com platform) and a thumbnail image scroll underneath it made of small image buttons. Each image button has a link which loads a new SWF file into the SWF loader above. Here is the code for each button which loads the bigger SWF file into the loader above:
    Button3.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, Button3_PlayPopUp);
    function Button3_PlayPopUp(event:MouseEvent): void {
        //setting the sourceVar
        sourceVar="3.swf";
        //making the SWFLoader load
        //as setting the soureVar after the SWFLoader is created won't do anything unlesss
        //I also re-create the SWFLoader with the new sourceVar when the button is clicked
        loader_howToLoader2.url = sourceVar;
        loader_howToLoader2.load(true);
    Then I decided to load all button via XML loader. I followed the tutorial on XML loaders which deals with loading jpg images and assigning URL links to them in the following manner first in XML file:
    <image src="appThmb_imgs/appThmb_imgs117x175/A-illuminatorUpLit_117x175.jpg" title="UpDownGlowingVase" url="http://www.888acolyte.com"/>
    and then in AS3 like this:
    var xmlLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
    thisOne.link = imageList[item].attribute("url");
    function clickScrollerItem(e:MouseEvent):void {
    //trace("clicked item " + e.currentTarget.itemNum + " - visit url: " + e.currentTarget.link);
    var urlRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest(e.currentTarget.link);
    try {
    navigateToURL(urlRequest);
    catch (e:Error) {
    // handle error here
    trace(e);
    My question is: How do I apply the code to each individual small thumbnail button to load a bigger image into the SWF loader above? Do I have to add something to XML file or this way it will never work with jpg images? Can url in XML file set the source var (//setting the sourceVar), since they are all individual and then somehow apply the making SWL loader to load part (//making the SWFLoader load) as a standard somewhere in the AS3 code?

    O.K. Here is my COMPLETE function.
    xmlLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, LoadXML);
    function LoadXML(e:Event):void {
        trace("xml load complete");
        xmlData = new XML(e.target.data);
        //trace(xmlData.image); //we'll see each image xml element listed in the output panel with this xmlList
        buildScroller(xmlData.image); //rather than trace the xmlList, we send it to our buildScroller function
    //build scroller from xml
    function buildScroller(imageList:XMLList):void{
        trace("build Scroller");
        //var scroller_x:int=0;
        for (var item:uint = 0; item<imageList.length();item++) {
            var thisOne:MovieClip = new MovieClip();
            //thisOne.img_width=imageList[item].attribute("width");
            //outline
            var blackBox:Sprite = new Sprite();
            blackBox.graphics.beginFill(0xFFFFFF);
            blackBox.graphics.drawRect(-1, -1, 86, 128);//-1,-1 places rectangle 1px left and up.86, 128 draws rectangle 1px wider on all sides of placed image dimenstions of 84x126
            thisOne.addChild(blackBox);
            //scroller_x += thisOne.img_width + 20;
            //var currentX = currentImageWidth+spaceBetween;//modified line to adjust variable thumb widths
            thisOne.x = (84 + padding) *item;//84 is the width of the loaded images and 15 (which was before paddign var) is the padding
            //thisOne.x = scroller_x;//modified line to adjust variable thumb widths
            thisOne.itemNum = item;
            thisOne.title = imageList[item].attribute("title");
            thisOne.link = imageList[item].attribute("url");
            thisOne.src = imageList[item].attribute("src");
            thisOne.alpha = 0;//makes all thumb images at alpha=0 before they are fully loaded
            //trace(thisOne.itemNum, thisOne.title, thisOne.link, thisOne.src);
            //Loading and Adding the Images
            //image container
            var thisThumb:MovieClip = new MovieClip();
            //add image
            var ldr:Loader = new Loader();
            //var url:String = imageList[item].attribute("src");
            var urlReq:URLRequest = new URLRequest(thisOne.src);
            trace("loading thumbnail "+item+" into Scroller: " + thisOne.src);//url
            ldr.load(urlReq);
            //assign event listeners for Loader
            ldr.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE,completeHandler);//tells us when the loading is complete
            ldr.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, errorHandler);//tells us if there are any typo errors when the loading is complete
            thisThumb.addChild(ldr);
            thisOne.addChild(thisThumb);
            //create listeners for this thumb
            thisOne.buttonMode = true;//makes boxes act as buttons
            thisOne.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickScrollerItem);//makes boxes act as buttons
            thisOne.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, overScrollerItem);//traces the title when the mouse is over the bounding box in the Output Panel
            thisOne.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OUT, outScrollerItem);//traces the title when the mouse is out the bounding box in the Output Panel
            //add item
            scroller.addChild(thisOne);
    But I am not sure if I expressed myself clearly. All what you have indicated happens. Images are being loaded and url strings are working. I can not figure out how to tweek the code so instead of url specified in xml file I can load swf image into the SWF loader on the same screen?

  • DVD from multiple flash files shows "loading" across 8/600 swf files

    I got tossed into the middle of editing  a training dvd that is composed of several swf files.  I've made minor edits to content (spelling, grammer, etc), when I re-burn the dvd there are 8 files that display "loading" in blue upon opening (all files do this throughout the dvd) but with these particular files it never goes away.  It remains on the screen and visible underneath or behind the text.  Nearly 2 months ago, a round of edits was necessary and these same 8 files behaved normally.  Three of the eight files were not edited in either round, were fine on the last burn, and are now displaying the "loading" constantly. Would anyone have any suggestions to fix this?

    The DVD is throwing a bit of a twist into it. I'm assuming you mean data DVD first off and this is all executable projector based content?
    The best thing you can do to start is play the content in the Flash IDE so the debugger has a chance to show you any errors. Load the project and then run the debugger (CTRL/CMD + SHIFT + ENTER) and let us know if you see any errors show up. Chances are you're hitting a snag and it's no longer running code properly.

  • I am unable to execute swf file present in server on local machine.

    Hi all,
        I am a newbie to Flash and ActionScript 3.0 platform. I don't know whether this is the correct place to post this kind of queries/problems/issues here. Till now, I had posted only basic flash issues here in this forum. I feel this is the most powerful issue which created head-ache to me till now. I spent nearly 4 hours working with this issue. But, I don't find any solution even in google.
        I have created a swf file, which when gets executed, gets data from backend database and displays as items in Combo-box. In swf file, if we select an item from Combo-box, collects data from database and gets back to flash and displays them as items in Combo-box. Each item has a specific image(.jpg file)associated,which gets displayed on stage of flash file(.swf file) upon selected from combo-box.
        I am calling/invoking the flash file, When I click on a Button/select a tab created within my Java application.But,when the button gets clicked/tab gets selected, Combo-box is visible in flash file, but with no elements when we try to click upon it and the following error is getting displayed in a dialog-box:
    Title of the error is: An action-script error has occured.
    The error messsage is:
    Error #2044: Unhandled securityError:. text=Error #2048: Security sandbox violation: http://localhost:8888/com.mymdworld.Application/DynaAccess.swf cannot load data from http://www.example.com:8080/servlet/getviews.
              at DynaAccess_fla::MainTimeline/DynaAccess_fla::frame1()
    Also, the dialog-box contains two buttons namely, "Dismiss All" & "Continue" buttons.
    Please, I request anyone to help me regarding this.
    Actually, What is going on internaly? & Why for is this error?
    Please, spend 2 minutes of your valuable time in filling the reply to this thread.
    I will be waiting for your replies...

  • Newbie, please help--swf files work fine separately, don't work when on same page

    Hello all,
    I am new to flash, and piecing together different templates to try and  learn things.
    I have run across a strange problem. When I load products2.swf by  itself, I can call the two "copy" files and everything works. When I  open 0342.swf (the index page), I can switch between the home and  products2 pages, but I can't view the "copy" pages.
    I'm guessing there may be some sort of conflict with variable names,  but I have been messing with it for most of today.
    I have uploaded all of the FLA files to here:
    http://littlebuddymedia.com/flashhelp.zip
    If you make an swf file out of each of the attached items, and open  the 0342 file, you will see what is supposed to be happening.
    Any help anyone can offer is greatly appreciated.
    Below is the code from each relevant button in case that is easier for  some of you.
    Thank you in advance!
    From the 0342 page (the index page)
    My "Home" button
    on (release) {
    if (_root.currMovie == undefined) {
    _root.currMovie = "home";
    _root.container.loadMovie("home.swf");
    } else if (_root.currMovie != "home") {
    if (_root.container._currentframe >= container.midframe) {
    _root.currMovie = "home";
    _root.container.play();
    My "Products" button
    on (release) {
    if (_root.currMovie == undefined) {
    _root.currMovie = "products";
    _root.container.loadMovie("products.swf");
    } else if (_root.currMovie != "products") {
    if (_root.container._currentframe >= container.midframe) {
    _root.currMovie = "products";
    _root.container.play();
    FROM THE PRODUCTS2 page
    My "copywebdev" button
    on (release) {
    if (_root.currMovie == undefined) {
    _root.currMovie = "copywebdev";
    _root.copycontainer.loadMovie("copywebdev.swf");
    } else if (_root.currMovie != "copywebdev") {
    if (_root.copycontainer._currentframe >= container.midframe) {
    _root.currMovie = "copywebdev";
    _root.copycontainer.play();
    My "officetech" button
    on (release) {
    if (_root.currMovie == undefined) {
    _root.currMovie = "copyworktech";
    _root.copycontainer.loadMovie("copyworktech.swf");
    } else if (_root.currMovie != "copyworktech") {
    if (_root.copycontainer._currentframe >= copycontainer.midframe) {
    _root.currMovie = "copyworktech";
    _root.copycontainer.play();
    }

    Not in the example I linked to.
    I added the code and uploaded an example of what it does.
    When I put "this._lockroot=true" into the first frame of the products.swf file, this occurs:
    http://littlebuddymedia.com/flashhelp/withlockroot/0342.html
    i.e. you can click over to the products page, but you can not navigate back clicking the "Home" button does not bring up the home page, it refreshes the product page. You are also not able to switch between the two text boxes (copywebdev and officetech) on the products page (though one of them will load--whichever one you click first).
    I guess this was "two steps forward and one step back"?
    Thank you for continuing to take a look at this.

    GRag and Mesh are correct. You cannot use Flex to access a file on a user's hard drive, which is where your path is pointing.
    Instead, create a folder within your Flex project, under the "src" folder (example: src/assets/videos), and put the SWF there. Change the path in your code to point to the new location, like "assets/videos/myVideoFile.swf". Note that you don't refer to the src folder; it is the "root" of your application, and when you deploy all your files to your web server, you will be copying the folders you created to the root folder of your web server. So, all the paths will remain consistent. Flex will attempt to find "assets/videos/myVideoFile.swf", starting from the "root", or location, of the application itself.

  • Full screen with swapping swf file

    I am creating a projector presentation in which a swf file is
    being loaded (loadmovie) and replacing the currently running one.
    And I have the movie set to be full screen mode (both movies are
    set to that using the fscommand). The problem I'm having is that
    once the new movie is loaded, it goes from being full screen (movie
    is not being scaled, so there's black behind it) to jumping into
    the left hand corner of the monitor at the movie's size. It still
    kinda acts like it's full-screen, there's no menu items and no
    window frame.
    Any idea what's going on here, and better yet, how I can fix
    it?
    thanks for your help.

    Don't load external files into _level0 or _root.
    Replacing the main swf with another is not a good practice.
    There are a few other examples of problems caused by this.
    AFAIK this only happens on the Mac platform. Is that what you
    are using? Also I don't think there is any other solution. If
    anybody knows anythings else, please let us know.

  • Import swf files in CP3, but export without any voice?

    Did anyone have the same problem with me?
    I imported swf file in slide and published. But I can't hear any voice in the slide....
    At the same time, I tried to import as flv file and published, then it works. Voice in slide can be heard with no problem.
    How can I fix the problem? thanks!!

    Hi,
    Just a quick check. Go to menu item " Edit > Preferences" and select category "Publish Settings".
    Confirm that option "Include Audio" is checked.

  • How do you add a controller to a SWF file?

    I am a newbie.
    How would I add a controller for play and pause to a SWF
    file? I want to put several SWF files up on a website but want to
    be able to control them. Instead they all play once the web page
    loads.
    Please help.
    Thanks

    > What is need is a %LinksDir% variable.
    I have no client available with links redirected, but basically, this
    should result in a registry value containing the new path. Simply
    regedit and search for your "links" redirection path.
    Then use Item Level targeting "registry value" to store this path in a
    temporary variable that you can use in the target path for your shortcut.

  • Using a container to load several swf files and play them

    I need some help. I want to use several swf files and have them be called upon in a container file and play them in sequence. It's a presentation that needs to play thru but still have the ability to stop, click on items, open a popup and then continue on in the presentation. I am building all the individual "chapters" and their "sub-chapters" as swf files, with the hope that I can load them in order. I am relatively new to AS3. Help?

    If you will be loading swf files into a container then you will use the Loader class to accomplish that, so give that a looking over in the help documents and see what you can do.  If you have a problem getting it to work, post your code and describe what you have done.

  • Spry Navbar Dropdown Under swf file image

    I've built an intranet page that works fine in IE but not in
    Netscape and Firefox. The spry horizontal drop down falls under the
    swf file in Netscape and Firefox, making the drop down items
    inaccessible. I've put z-indexes on the navbar, flash component and
    the frame around the flash piece. The navbar only falls under the
    flash component.
    Any suggestions? Thanks.

    It's not a z-index issue.
    All Active content on a page will always rise to the top, so
    to speak,
    including Flash, certain form elements, Java applets, and
    Active X controls.
    This means that each of these will poke through layers. There
    is not a good
    cross-browser/platform reliable way to solve this issue, but
    if you can be
    confident in your visitors using IE 5+ or NN6+, then you can
    use the Flash
    wmode parameter (however, Safari does not support this
    properly!).

  • How to get poster image (from_movie) when placing SWF file with JS?

    I am able to place the poster from movie (flv) file. SWF files seems to belong to Movie class. I can place the generic posters (standard, none and proxy_image), but not "FROM_MOVIE".
    I am getting the following error message:
    "Error 81926" "The poster image could not be changed to the requested image".
    I will attach my code (sligtly modified from the sample "placeMOVIE" which is coming with CS5) containing also code for other property settings to be tested.
    Hoping to find a good solution for this, thanks in advance!

    You can put the poster for SWF using UI Media panel as shown here. So does this mean that there is a bug in a scripting environment?
