I keep receiving emails telling me that my account is about to be disabled if I don't supply my log in details etc.  Phishing or real?

Hi,  I wonder if someone can help?  I keep receiving emails telling me that my account is about to be disabled if I do not respond within 24 hours because someone has tried to sign in to my apple account.  Previously, I have followed instructions and given all my information!!!  However, today when I went in to 'verify me' a box came up saying this was probably/possibly a phishing scam.  I checked back through my emails, found the previous one, clicked on that and it too came up as a phishing scam this time, however, sadly, that did not happen last time which is why I put in all my info.
What do I do?  What will happen to my 'stuff' (apple iPad, iPhone and iPod) if I do not respond in time if it is real?
Help please??
Kate.

Very likely phishing.
Your Apple ID will automatically be disabled if your account password is entered wrongly many times. Apple do not send email as far as I know.

  • I keep getting emails telling me that I have used 14.5GB of my 15GB but all of my devices say that I have only used 7.2GB.  Any ideas how to fix this?

For the past week I have been getting emails as per below:
You are currently using 14.5 GB of your total 15 GB of iCloud storage, which means that your iCloud storage is almost full. When your storage is full, device backups to iCloud will stop and apps will no longer be able to save documents to iCloud.
To ensure that your iCloud services continue without interruption, you can free up space or buy more storage by following the steps below:
To free up storage in your account:
    Step 1:
On your iOS device, go to Settings and tap iCloud.
    Step 2:
    Tap Storage & Backup.
    Step 3:
Tap Manage Storage and choose items that you’d like to delete or stop backing up.
For more information on managing your iCloud storage, please read this article.
    To buy more storage:
    Step 1:
On your iOS device, go to Settings and tap iCloud.
    Step 2:
    Tap Storage & Backup.
    Step 3:
    Choose Buy More Storage.
You can also buy more iCloud storage from a Mac or PC.
My Mac, my iPhone and iPad are all telling me that I am only using 7.2GB of my 15GB storage limit.  Any ideas what could be causing this?
    Thanks
    Pete

I received this email today and have no idea why.
    Dear Daniel Freeman,
You have now exceeded your iCloud storage, including an additional amount provided to allow you to continue receiving email. As a result, you will not be able to send or receive new email messages with your iCloud email address until you free up storage space or buy more.
To free up storage in your account:
    Step 1:
On your iOS device, go to Settings and tap iCloud.
    Step 2:
    Tap Storage & Backup.
    Step 3:
Tap Manage Storage and choose items you’d like to delete or stop backing up.

    Choose Buy More Storage.

I have not changed anything with any of my iOS devices (iPhone 4s, iPad2) or my Macbook Pro. I have 3.21GB out of 5GB of storage space free so I dont understand why this has happened.
will my iCloud email service still work?

  • Trying to access my iCloud and it keeps telling me that my account password needs to be changed.  I done that and yet it still gives me the same message when trying to sign in iCloud.

As i try to sign into the iCloud a message comes up that I need to reset my password for security reasons.  So i did that and tried to sign in with the new password and It gives me the same message.  I have no problem with my password for I was able to post this problem.

  • I am receiving messages on my emails telling me that a virus was attached

Is anyone else receiving emails telling them that a virus was attached but it was cleaned but you should advise the sender???

Remove the Sophos product by following the instructions on this page.
If you have a different version of the product, the procedure may be different. Back up all data before making any changes.

  • I keep receiving emails on my ipad that don't display a message, don't enable me to delete them, and are dated 12/31/69.  What is up with this?

I keep receiving emails (about 10 - 14) on my iPad that have no message, don't allow me to delete them in the same way as the other messages I want deleted are deleted, and are dated 12/31/69.  Does anyone have this problem?  How can I stop the messages?  I called Apple Support and they told me iCloud was having a problem.  Help!

    Hi Kappy,
I've checked your account, and it looks like you have multiple subscriptions. You have two for ExportPDF (one renewing in February, and the other in April). You also have an Adobe PDF Pack subscription, which is the one that renews in March.
Since you have Adobe PDF Pack, you don't need ExportPDF. Would you like me to cancel both of your ExportPDF subscriptions for you?
    Best,
    Sara

I received an email from Verizon telling me that my account is locked and to click on a link Verizon/security to unlock it.  Is this a legitimate email from Verizon.  How can I find out what this means?  My phone is working.

I have never heard of that before, if Verizon Wireless would do anything with your account they would be calling you (removed). In my opinion you should disregard the email.

  • I keep receiving emails regarding my My iphone-4G,

I haven't ever bought an iphone but keep receiving emails asking if i am still having problems with the phone and using the itunes store, it's from someone called  yuvaraj who claims to be  from itunes customer support and he works tuesday to saturday, i have tried to contact itunes regarding this but cannot seem to get any feed back, has anyone received these emails and are they bogus and if so what to do about them.
    Many thanks.

What is the return address of the sender, his email address? Have you bothered to check? Is the email asking for money or personal information? If the email is aklsing for an iTunes user id and password that is a dead giveaway that the email is fraudulent. These are things to check when trying to determine whether an email is legit or not. Screw-ups happen. It's also entirely possible that this is a simple typo and you are getting the emails instead of the intended user. Otherwise just ignore the emails and they will evenutslly stop.

  • I am trying to upload my photos to iphoto. I keep receiving a error message that say "Iphoto cannot import your photos because there was a problem downloading an image" What do i Do?!

I am trying to upload my photos to iphoto. I keep receiving a error message that say "Iphoto cannot import your photos because there was a problem downloading an image" What do i Do?!

Remember: we cannot see your machine. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS.  So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Basic things like :
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For instance: 'iPhoto won't export' is best explained by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

I keep receiving emails saying my apple id password has been changed when I havent changed it? Nobody else has access to my emails or can answer my security questions??
I have changed my email password aswell as having to keep changing my apple is password an it keeps changing?

Sounds like you follow good practices.
This has been going around for some time in various forms, a number of users have asked about it and the best advice is if in doubt go doirectly to Apple, not links in the email.  Calling Apple or using the Apple site is always the best approach.
A few have even noticed very slight misspellings in the emails, things like Appel instead of Apple...most people don't even notice those.
Anyway, safe computing and have a good day.

  • Can't receive emails on my company's account with Yosemite

I have a Macbook Air late 2012 with 8GB memory. I recently installed Yosemite (which I already tested on beta version last summer) and the problem is the same I had with the beta version: cannot receive emails from my company's account. The server requires pwd authentication and the default on Yosemite is NTLM. When I change to Password in the advanced preferences and save it, after few minutes is NTLM again (in the meantime I don't receive emails anyway). No problem sending emails, no problem with my other accounts and no problem even with my company's account using Mavericks, which I now reinstalled. I tried to delete and recreate the account on Yosemite, no way. Does anybody have a fix?

    Hello Holgerfragtnach,
It sounds like your Mail application can send emails but cannot get any new emails that come to your address. I recommend these steps from the article named:
    iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Mail
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4002
If you can't receive mail in OS X Mail
Locate the name of your iCloud account on the left side of the main Mail window. If your iCloud account name is dimmed and has a lightning-bolt symbol next to it, your account is offline. To bring your account online, make sure that your computer is connected to the Internet, then choose Mailbox > Take All Accounts Online. If that doesn't resolve the issue, follow these steps:
Choose Preferences from the Mail menu.
Click Accounts in the Preferences window.
Select your iCloud account from the list of accounts.
Click the Advanced tab and verify these settings:
    Port: 993
    Use SSL: (selected)
Authentication: either "Password" or "Apple Token"
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

iTunes gift cards are only valid on accounts based in the country in which the card was issued - so if you have a US account then you can only use US gift cards. Do you know anybody in the country where you bought it from that you could sell or give it to ? Or you could try selling it on a site such as eBay.
