Are you using the latest version of MS Word? It’s possible you can restore the corrupt file from the last saved version or the automatically saved version. Have you tried that? MS Word uses a folder called Autorecover to store temporary versions of your file. Hopefully there’s a good version in that folder. Use Finder to search for Autorecover if needed.

If they are on your computer's iTunes then you can sync them back across to the iPad. My apologies, but I'm not quite following... What exactly are you trying to accomplish?
If you want to prevent changes to the document, you can set a password on it and set it to open as "Read-only" unless the person who opens it knows the password. You can also set a password to prevent it being opened altogether.
Is that what you're trying to do? Or did you open a document that was locked by someone else?

My phone restored and lost all my most recent photos and other information. How can I get it back !?

Yesterday my phone restored itself. Using a backup that was made a month ago I had no way to stop other than to unplug the phone. Which wipped the phone completely and then when I plugged it back in all it would do is use the old backup again. So I have lost all the photos, messages and everything else that I have made in the last month. Which as this is a business phone is not exactly helpful. Is there any way to get all these things back or are they gone forever?? Thanks for the help

What do you mean it "restored itself". It can't do that. User interaction is required to initiate that.
Did you not have a recent backup of it? If not, then the data is gone.

Bullets which include links will prevent correct copy/paste content from word document to wiki page.

I have a word document around 20 pages which contains the following sentence (a bullet with two links):-
Now if I remove this sentence then copy/paste the 20 pages from word to wiki page they will be pasted correctly inside the wiki page , where all the pages, bullets, etc will be mapped correctly inside the wiki page as HTML tables, bullets ,etc.
But the problem if I kept the above sentence then the whole 20 pages will be pasted as plain text inside the wiki page.
So can anyone advice on this ?and how I can overcome it ?

You can try this (1) Save as Word Doc as single file web page (2) Open that file in normal text editor(notepad or so) and copy all (3) Goto Wiki page edit source and paste all (4) Save it

At the that time I was on a friends wifi network that is password protected (not sure about the encyrption), the Os X Firewall was on. I was using the admin profile, however, file sharing was off. I'm very careful not to install any suspecious 3rd party software.
So far I have verified permissions and fixed some errors there, and changed passwords.
Do I have to erase/format my computer and reinstall the Os? If so is it adequte to use the internet recovery tool or will it use old and possibly infected EFI/Root files?

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.

That does sound frustrating! It sounds as though the filename associations have become confused on your computer. You should be able to reset that easily. Here are some instructions:

Do you have MS Office installed? If not, you need to either:
1) buy a compatible copy of MS Office†, or
2) get one of the free, open-source Office-compatible packages like LibreOffice.
We possibly can offer further enlightenment if you tell us more about tyour iMac. Do "About this Mac" from the Apple menu and post what the resulting window says about your Mac OS version and the processor type.
†-- NOTE: The pre-2006 Macs this forum serves can use no higher version of MS Office that Office 2008. Office 2008 requires a 500mHz G4 processor, any G5 processor, or Intel processor, and a minimum Mac OS of 10.4.9

IMHO the free apps are a band aid fix. If the OP uses Office on a regular basis he will need to upgrade anyway. Personally I have used neooffice and found it substandard however that was just my take. I haven't tried Google's solution.
We both forgot to mention the OP could also use Pages and Numbers to open their Word and Excel files. If he uses Entourage then Mail and iCal would be viable substitutes.

Only Pages, Preview, Pages for iCloud beta, and Pages v2 or later on IOS 7 can open native Pages v5.2.2 (.pages) documents. Sending a Pages v5.2.2 document to someone without Pages v5.2.2 is futile.
If you are using Gmail or Dropbox, you will need to right-click on that Pages document, and then choose compress from the contextual menu. You can then attach filename.pages.zip, because it appears as a single document, and not a folder.
Pages v5.2.2 has a Share button on the Toolbar. Providing your document is already in iCloud storage, you can Send a Link to iCloud via the following:
The Share toolbar icon also allows you to Send a Copy to Email, Messages, and AirDrop. This will present you with the document export sheet, the same one you get if you chose to File > Export To menu item, as the alternative.
If you are sharing document content with an MS Office user, then the document you want to send them is either a Word .docx, or .doc. If they want just a read-only view of your content, send a PDF, for improved cross-platform exchange.

Finally, sometimes video and audio problems are caused at a lower level and not directly related to Flash Player. I recommend trying both of the links below to see how they perform. In addition to the last poster's suggestion - just so you know, it also depends on the email program the recipient uses as to how they will see any attachments - for instance, when I am using my Yahoo Mail, I am absolutely unable to view any attachment within the browser window - Yahoo forces me to download it; there is no way for me to check it (like a preview) to see if I want to download it or not.
And, FWIW: the window shown in the screenshot does not show on my version of Mail 5.1 (which is the latest for 10.7.2); the only one similar shows when viewing a message received with an attachment, not while sending one. So that must be a different version.

OS 10.6.8 on documents created by Pages 3 will not open They want a Version 4 while my iMac does not install because it needs 4 Pages 10.7. But I can not install 10.7 because my iMac is not Core2 duo ... Funny dilemma!!

You should be able to Save as: iWork 08, but i don't know how it works on Mountain Lion. On my Snow Leopard the Save as window has a part looking like this
