I'm getting this error statement: XULRUNNER error: platform version 6.0.2 is not compatible with min etc max etc6.0.1 - what is this about and how can it be corrected?
This is what I think may have happened. The other day, Thursday Sept 8th, I shut down my pc in the middle of a Firefox upgrade. Now when I try to access Firefox on my pc, I get this error message:
XULRUNNER Error: Platform version '6.0.2 is not compatible with min Version >= 6.0.1 max Version < 6.0.1
What is this about and how can I retsore access to Firefox on my pc?

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.
If you keep having problems then also create a new profile.

When I try to start up Firefox, I immediately get a samll window with the above message. It looks like this:

Platform version 8.0.1 is not compatible with miniVersion>=7.0.1
maxVersion<=7.0.1Be sure to delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing Firefox as the usual cause of this problem in that not all files got updated properly and some .ini files like application.ini and platform.ini are still older versions.

Deleting the installation directory does not remove bookmarks, passwords etc, they are stored elsewhere in the profile folder. When you re-install Firefox it will use the existing user data. -

I noticed that firefox updated last night before I shut down my computer, then when I turned it on this morning I received the error message I described above. It will not let me open firefox.
I solved the problem by reinstalling the updated version and it now works fine. Thank you for getting back to me so quickly.
