I'm new in xcode, any application ideas for beginers?

I'm new in xcode, just downloaded it today, made a web browser but I want to learn how to make an application like the pros. I need some ideas to learn from, dose anyone have any??

Mujtaba has given you excellent advice. Though you haven't told us whether your interest is in OS X or iPhone apps, the iPhone Developer Beginner Resource Guide is full of good information, much of which applies to any Cocoa app. The links in that Guide are well chosen, and it might be worth your time to follow every one of them. I would recommend building your first apps from the instructions in one of the good books recommended at the above links. Once you're ready to dig into the online Apple developer resources, you'll find pages listing all the free OS X and iPhone sample apps along with download links for each of them. Each of these samples is designed to show you how to use one or more features of an Apple platform. But the sample apps have a second important purpose: Each of them is intended to give you ideas for your own apps. In fact, you'll find many published apps based on these sample apps, some of them with very little customization.
In short, my suggestion is to get into the Apple sample apps as soon as you're ready for them. Before long you'll have more app ideas than time to build them.

What do you mean by 'registered it on iTunes' ? You've authorised your account on your Mac's iTunes via the Store > Authorise This Computer menu option ? And you've copied your library onto the Mac ?

Some calendars in iCal appear corrupted but OK on iPhone. If I sync will the calendar data on the phone restore info on the desktop iCal? any other ideas for how to sort this please?

All Apple iTunes Store accounts must have a valid form of payment set up. Even for free apps and updates. The Payment Declined message comes from your card issuer or payment source; Apple is just a pass-through for the message. You need to find out why your issuer is declining your card.

Check the age of the files you wish to open.
Keynote 6 (the latest you downloaded) will opne Keynote 5 (KN09) files but nothing earlier. For that KN5 will act as an intermediate format (you save KN4 and earlier as KN5), then KN6 can open the resultanr files.
Make sure you have a backup of your original files, in case KN6 cannot replicate some of your earlier builds and transitions.

I am new to the J2ME world. I have to develope a GUI based application on iPAQ4350. But I am not given any ramp up time with awt programming. So I am wondering whether there is any good IDE ( like VB Editor ) with all standard widget ( like button, textfield etc) which I choose and create my GUI.

You can try Sun One Studio Mobile Edition, but even this does not provide you with visual development of GUI like buttons, drag and drop.....This is J2me World honey, learn to be small....

Any creative ideas for handling call priorities?

I am looking for creative ideas to help out my customer. They are using UCCE 8.5.3 with CVP. They have 3 priority levels: gold (1), silver (3) and bronze (5). All three levels are handled by the same skill group. There are times when they have an influx of gold calls which go ahead of silver and bronze in the queue - and therefore bronze keep getting pushed back in the queue. How can then ensure that bronze calls get serviced within a reasonable time period while still maintaining their prioirties?
Appreciate any creative ideas.

A colleague of mine just went through this same exact scenario. This is what we ended up doing… If a low priority call sat for more than 2 minutes it got moved to a higher priority. I know it’s not perfect and it doesn’t “fix” the problem but merely puts a band-aid on it in most cases until you get a large number of calls with a particular priority calling in.
You are stuck my friend. There is nothing you can do programming wise to get around it. You need more agents when it comes to situations like this. Personally I think priority is stupid especially when you have one group of agents handling all the queues or priorities. If you use priority your incoming call pool becomes dynamic so your agent pool should become dynamic as well but managers “your customer” don’t realize this or can’t afford more agents but they still insist priority is a great idea.
That’s my two cents anyway.

OTAP any good ideas for content ?

I support the cisco wireless network at a city hospital and have been interested to read about OTAP which seemingly is a method of distributing updates and content to wireless devices.
we run cisco 7921g`s and would like any feedback or ideas as to the types of things that may be of interest or use (im not talking specifics but methods) i.e news updates / bulletins
does it work like that i.e is that the best way to deliver news updates or messages to an IP phone.
sorry if this is a strange suggestion but if i have the feature sets i may aswell use them !

As far as I know, OTAP is only used as a means of WLC Discovery for AP's.

Any help/ideas for ATI X800 XT

Aloha, I've searched & searched so I'm hoping someone here might have an idea where to get an ATI X800 XT card for my G5. I have heard rumors that they have started making/shipping them again. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Mahalo in advance for any tips. JB

OK, so getting an ATI X800 card looks impossible right now, so can anyone point me towards a different card that would make working with Aperture on my G5 a bit quicker/smoother?
G5 Dual 2.3 GHz PPC with 4GB ram and a (AGP) ATI Radeon 9650 video card.
I really love Aperture and it's capabilities, but it's lag with every tweak on RAW files is becoming frustrating. Mahalo in advance for any assistance. JB

New Airport Extremes any more reliable for wifi backups?

I was one of the many folks who spend hours configuring and reconfiguring my network a few years back trying to get Time Machine to play nice with my USB hard drive for the sole purpose of daily automatic time machine backups over WiFi. Something about Apple not technically supporting this practice, but that it *could* work, *sometimes*, *for some people*. In my experience I could get it working for a matter of days at a time before the link would break and my backups would become inaccessible by either wifi or by direct USB connection, forcing me to re backup my entire HD each time it happened, until I eventually gave up on it all together.
Fast forward to today, I still hate having to go through the process of finding my hard drive, plugging into power, finding a USB cable, etc etc etc every time I want to make sure my backups are up to date. Thus, it gets done very infrequently and therefore makes my backups far less useful if I should ever need them.
As luck would have it, over the holidays I acquired the NEW Airport Extreme w/ 802.11n... have these issues been fixed?
All I want is a reliable, daily, automatic time machine backup, OVER wifi, THROUGH the new airport, TO my USB connected Phantom drive. Can it be???

Apple now officially supports Time Machine backups to a hard drive at the USB port of the "new" AirPort Extreme.

"Wireless" and "reliable" are two words that really do not go together well, but your chances have improved with the new AirPort Extreme.

Content Barrier...any other ideas for blocks??

I have had SOOO many problems with my content barrier... when it works it's great, but my computer had some issues this past week and everything had to be reinstalled... long story short, it's not filtering anything EXCEPT for SPECIFIC url's... I can't possibly enter every single inappropiate url manually into the preferences.
Any suggestions. I have to call long distance to talk with a real person, no 800# at Intego, so far they havent fixed anything for me AND they said I couldnt use Firefox with CB... so I would have to take it off of my dock so my kids couldnt access it! I want my money back, any one having the same issues?

If you're developing JSPs and Servlets....
I've found that using Eclipse (which is free) coupled with the MyEclipse plug-in (an advanced J2EE specific plug-in which costs $29.99USD/year) was the best for me. I've tried several free J2EE Eclipse plug-ins, didn't like them. Wasn't a big fan of NetBeans either, but I liked it tons better than the other Eclipse plug-ins.
Therefore, IMHO for free I'd go with NetBeans, for a small fee I'd go with Eclipse/MyEclipse plug-in.
If you are new to J2EE but not to Java, you may want to consider going straight to JSF and Sun's Java Studio Creator. This is not free, but the fee is one-time and development is (mostly) visual using Java Studio Creator.
