I'm new to Apple (MacBook Pro). Had a PC before. First day I had the new Apple, somehow I lost the return arrow to go back to an original page (if that makes sense).
First day I had my Apple I was on Craig's List looking at an item and somehow I deleted the return arrow to go back to the original list. So now when I'm on a site, there's no arrow to go back and I have to close and start all over. How do I get the return arrow that I believe is on the left side of the screen? I've never had an Apple, so all of this is new to me. Thanks! Jo
If I understand your question, you need to select View > Customize Toolbar from the Safari menu bar. Drag the back/forward arrows into the toolbar wherever you want them, then click Done.
You can also go back to the previous page by pressing command-left arrow on the keyboard.

When you use the Lion restore as described, it does a fresh install on the hard drive that you can select at the beginning of the process. This provides a complete install of the very latest version of Lion, including the recovery partition. The drive that you choose for the installation destination winds up like what you would have on a brand new computer from Apple.

My macbook pro had to be repaired and I lost iPhoto in the process. How do I get it back?
My mother board had caps that were blown because I spilled coffee on the table and some got into the bottom vent of my computer. As a result of the repair, all my apps were gone and I am in the process of trying to get them back. I was easily able to get MS office back because I had the download receipt, but I don't know how to get iLife back. Any ideas?
If you purchased the machine new and it had OS X 10.7 or 10.8 on it, then you will have to talk to Apple because basically it's another machine as you likely had your logicboard switched, thus it has a different serial number and all AppStore software is copy protected and tied to your AppleID.
If your machine originally came with 10.4, 10.5, or 10.6, then you can try to see if those installers will work as the iLife is on the disks, or you can use Pacifist from Charlesoft to extract the apps and put them on your machine, then Software Update so the versions are current. -
I have a new MacBook Pro with OS X Lion 10.7.4. The DVD player does not have a feature to store film clips. Why? This is useful for my work and I had it on my older computer? Why the loss of capacity?
I cannot recall the DVD player ever being a place to "store" videos - it is simply an app to play videos.
If your machine is new, then iMovie should be included as the "shrunk" version of iLife is included with Lion (iMovie, Garageband, and iPhoto). However, iMovie is not a place to store videos either - it is a video editor. You import your clips and edit them in order to then burn to a DVD or share via a social media site.
Have you considered simply dragging the clips to your folder "Movies"? That would be a great place to just store them (please be aware that videos are usually large files, so keep your hard drive space in mind so you keep a minimum free and available for the OS to operate properly): -

Did the message say what was corrupt. It is not clear from your description of "...it was corrupt" what "it" is. Sounds like the download of Lion was corrupt. Download it again. Downloaded files sometimes get corrupted due to network connection glitches or interruptions.

Can you start Firefox in [[Safe mode]] ?
You can also do a clean reinstall and download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can initially skip the step to create a new profile, that may not necessary for this issue.

i can no longer shoot directly into phaseone software - neihter version 6 or 7 - since i use my new macbook pro with retina display. pictures are not transfered from the camera into captureone. anyone else with this problem? any solutions?

Go to Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Keyboard and Mouse -> Mouse
And edit your mouse settings to do what you want it to do.

Third, from my understanding, it would appear you are concerned about the noise the hard drive makes when it falls asleep? Why not put your machine in screen saver mode instead? Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Energy Saver turn off all Energy Saver settings, or set them to run Never.
Fourth, if your machine was purchased just a few days ago, you may still be able to get an exchange from the store, quicker than you can get a repair done. You may want to look into that possibility.
Fifth, it does appear you found the Logic forum. I would persist in asking there how to solve your technical issue with Logic regarding the audio. It may be you don't have to do anything special to the hard drive. Remember audio can be transmitted by wire, avoiding ambient sounds.

If your budget is unlimited, look at both the retina and non-retina and make a decision based on your preferences. If funds are tight, explore the options in the refurbished section. Unless you are dealing with courses that demand specific performance parameters, any one of these options will suffice.

This is the problem. My father just got an iPhone 5. He has a Macbook Pro 2009 with OS X 10.5.8. The iPhone is not compatible with this version since the iTunes is an older version as well. At our local Apple store in my home country, they told him he needs to upgrade (which I agree of) but that the memory of this computer is not enough to hold the newer OS.
Please help, he does not really agree with buying a new computer just because of the versions.

i tried transferring my iphoto library from my old macbook onto my new macbook pro (via external hard drive), but when i open the new iphoto, it seems to have transferred ALL images ever used on my old macbook. so i tried to just delete all those images so i could try a different approach to transferring, but the new iphoto won't let me do anything and every time i try to delete anything it crashes (since the image amount is so high). please help!!

Link the two Macs together: there are several ways to do this: Wireless Network,Firewire Target Disk Mode, Ethernet, or even just copy the Library to an external HD and then on to the new machine...
But however you do choose to link the two machines...
Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
Then launch iPhoto. That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else. -
i bought my macbook pro 13" and i installed win(7 64bit) and the dvd of bootcamp came with my notebook and i installed it sucessfully but now i want to install win 8(64 bit) and i did but unfortunatley that dvd of bootcamp didnt work what should i do to install my bootcamp and apple software in win 8

one of the key on my macbook pro is not working properly, can it be fixed by a cleaning spray or something. there is lot of dust in where I live and thought that might be the culprit. thanks Jason
