I'm not sure about 7.2.3

Hey People. Ok! I hope this is something I am doing wrong. I was having no problem with 7.1. When I updated to 7.2.3 my cpu meter just goes out of control. It seems to peek much faster. I am on a G5 dual 2.5 with 2 gig of ram. My plugins have all been updated and I'm not doing anything new with my software. I don't get it. Please help..........
Thanks.
Todd

Yes I do have BFD. I had put up a post about that a few months back and had the multi-channel BFD problem solved with an upgrade from fxpansion. The only thing I can think of is my UAD-1 card. I do have the latest version software 4.5.0. Other than that I haven't a clue. I always look at the audio units compatibility list to see if things need to be changed. I am using a MOTU 896HD firewire interface. Does anyone know of problems with that card? By the way it's acting my guess is 1. an audio driver or 2. PCI driver. But, I know I could be wrong on both.

• I want my iPad to play over my car speakers  I do not want a frequency transmitter device.  Do I have any alternatives.  I am not sure about adapters.

I want my iPad to play over my car speakers  I do not want a frequency transmitter device.  Do I have any alternatives.  I am not sure about adapters.

I second what Thoma said. If there is the little headphone in, then you can buy a cord to plug the headphone out of your ipad into the input in your car.
Failing that, see if you can pair via blue tooth.
Or the fallback is an FM transmitter. I've used one of these for years. In fact, the one i use was meant to go with a MP3 player that broke years ago. They're very simple. the transmitter sends the music out of your ipad 'out' on a specified frequency (due to radio stations these transmitters often have many frequencies to choose from) you then tune y our radio to that specific frequency and you hear your ipad.
Occasionally, if you're driving cross country, you may need to tweak the frequency (if you get within range of an existing station using that same frequency) but they're very easy to use.
I often take motorpool cars, so I just carry with me the transmitter and a 1/8-1/8 cord and I'm set for any situation i find myself in

If you have the iPhone in front of you, here's how you can learn the carrier:
Go to Settings > General > About and look at the "Network" row near the top.  There's your carrier's name!

• Moved database to new server, not sure about NT AUTHORITY\* users

I just moved database to new instance of SQL Server (SQL Server 2012 Web from Amazon EC2) and am now cleaning up database users.
I am not sure if/why these 2 users are needed (they exist in original database that someone else created and managed before me):
NT AUTHORITY\IUSR
NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE
Note that there are also 2 database schemas with exactly the same names. These schemas do not contain any objects.
I am more clear on NT AUTHORITY\IUSR - this seems to be a user for IIS and IIS is not even installed on new instance (IIS will not be used). So this one probably can be deleted (together with matching schema?).
I am not sure about NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE (or how it got created to begin with - new databases created on new server don't have it. Newly created databases don't have NT AUTHORITY\IUSR either).
Neither of these 2 users exist at server level on a new instance or on an old instance.

Being a 2009 model, it is likely the battery is worn out. Take it to a service center and have the battery replaced.

• Still not sure about backing up, still not sure about backing up

Still not sure about backing up if apple provides a new i pad because battery has gone west.  you must back your ipad info to something else, like your pc
as you cannot get to backed up material if you have sent it to apple, can you transfer that backup on ipad to the pc???

Not unless you're using the iCloud and you have a backup in iCloud and you're using a mac signed into iCloud or you have the iCloud control panel installed on your pc.
Or by chance you had a backup in iTunes.
If you can open iTunes you can check to see if your backup is there.
Click on Edit>go to Preferences> click on Devices, check for the device backups in the box. If they're not there, you can check to see if your information was in icloud by accessing it at www.icloud.com.

• Not sure about international txting

Hello,
I have a friend in Australia I talk to a lot and I shied away from texting internationally as not to get charged. Now I knew I had unlimited texting, but wasn't sure about out of country and we texted each other a few times so I went to "Current Usage" to see if it did any damage. I scroll down to "Messaging" area and it says the following:
Nationwide TLK&TXT Share 700 (mom and I on same account)
Under that is a green bar and above it to the far right says, "0/Unlimited"
Under that it lists the "Usage Type" and under 'Text', it lists large numbers I knew were already safe, but going further across, it lists 'International Plan' and 'International Pix-Flix'. Both those last 2 categories have numbers, 4 sent, 11 received, 5 received flix.
Now my question is: Since it still reads 0/Unlimited above the green bar, does that mean it's safe to text and pix-flix internationally? Could have sworn a woman at Verizon told me they didn't have an international plan or something or other.

Grothka is close.
The price for sending International Text Messages will remain the same at $0.25 per message. The price for receiving International Text Messages will increase to $0.20 per message.

Can someone tell me how to make this query work properly.
I need to make this query do 2 things in my where statement. one function is, any record with the number 2 in the categoryID field, is to be shown, I'm not sure how to write that. Here is my query:

</cfquery>
This part works fine: WHERE merchID = #ATTRIBUTES.merchID#
This part is wrong: AND CategoryID = 2
how would I write this? can anyone help?
thanks

• Airport Exterme 802.11n Wi-Fi  MC340LL/A not sure about some settings  ?

Yesterday I bought a Airport Extreme ( Base Station ) 802.11n Wi-Fi MC340LL/A ( Model No. A1354 )
I have managed to figure out most of the setting in the Airport Utility ( Setup Guide that came with the Airport Extreme is No help with details about any settings except the Very Basic ones ) and My wireless network is setup and working but May need tweaking for even better performance.
But there are some settings/choices I'm not familiar with and Not quite sure what options I need and don't need.
My Network - No Network Disk Connected, Guest Network or Files being Shared
( at least not for now )
Connected through wireless access - ( WPA2 Personal Security )
MacBook 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (13-inch, Late 2009) –
Model A1342 Polycarbonate Unibody ( MC207LL/A )
OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.4
Roku digital streaming video player (also known as the Netflix Player by Roku)
HP Photosmart Plus B209a-m Wireless Printer
Connected Via Ethernet -
Dell OptiPlex Desktop PC
Windows XP Professional SP3
First Setting I'm not sure of - Internet Connection - Connection Sharing
For now I have it set to Share Public IP address - Is this correct for my Network Setup with The Airport Extreme being the only router being used ?
Other two choices are Distribute A Range of IP Addresses and ( Off ) Bridge Mode

Next Setting - Wireless - Wireless Network Options ( Very Confusing )
Settings I have Enabled

I've read online about Multicast Rate, Use Wide Channels and Use Interference Robustness but still not sure how I should use these setting and at what level.

+For now I have it set to Share Public IP address - Is this correct for my Network Setup with The Airport Extreme being the only router being used ?+
This would be the correct setting if the AirPort Extreme is connected to a simple modem (one ethernet port).
*Settings I have Enabled*
5 GHz name indicates that you have elected to use the option to assign a separate name to the 5 GHz network. This will allow you to "tell" compatible computers to connect to that network, rather than the slower 2.4 GHz network
Use Wide Channels is recommended for 5 GHz operation.
Interference Robustness often does more harm than good and should not be used unless you know you are in a area with a lot of wireless networks and you feel that your network is experiencing interference issues from a nearby network.

• Not sure about memory type

Hi All - I have a Mac mini G4 1.5 Ghz processor. Currently have 512mb DDR SDRAM and would like to upgrade to 1GB. I went to the Crucial web site and they indicated a DDR PC2700 chip. When checking the memory type currently in my mac (512) it says it is a Type:DDR SDRAM Speed:PC3200U-30330. It sounds to me that the PC2700 is NOT a match to the PC3200U-30330?? - I'm not sure if I'm inerpreting it correctly. I've noticed in my searches that there doesn;t seem to be much info on the 1.5ghz machine. I'd just like some verification on the chip before I order. Any thoughts?

Welcome to Apple Discussions!
PC2700 RAM is the correct type for all the G4 minis, including your 1.5 model. However, many minis were sold with PC3200 memory, which is also compatible, though the faster RAM doesn't improve system performance in any way since it's clocked back to match the system's bus speed - which is designed for the PC2700 spec.
Thus you can use either.

• Not sure about upgrading from Leopard to Snow Leopard, Sugguest??

I am thinking about upgrade from 10.5 to Snow leopard, but afraid anything would go wrong, which I can't afford that. Beside my leopard runs perfectly fine now. The only reason I am thinking about Snow leopard is I wants to install Win7 through BootCamp to open up some application only available in Windows.
There are so many problems from what I read so far for upgrading. I am just wondering if the benefits is more than the troubles?
Here is what I am scared of:
1. lose the programs/applications I have on leopard.
2. lose the files, program setting I have.
3. SL create crazy problem that I cannot solve.
Any suggestions? Thanks!!

Here is what I am scared of:
1. lose the programs/applications I have on leopard.
Shouldn't happen, but if anything goes wrong you could lose everything. You need to be prepared with installers and serial numbers with all your applications. This is not specific to this situation, you need that at all times. Your hard drive could decide to die tomorrow, and then where would you be?
2. lose the files, program setting I have.
See my answer to #1. You must have backups for any data files you aren't willing to lose. If you don't have backups, that should now be your new highest priority in life if you value your data. See my [Mac Backup Guide|http://www.reedcorner.net/thomas/guides/backups>.
3. SL create crazy problem that I cannot solve.
Make sure your computer meets [Snow Leopard system requirements|http://www.apple.com/macosx/specs.html], and make sure your software is compatible:
http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/
You should also check any hardware, like printers, scanners, etc, to be sure that there are SL-compatible drivers. Also, it should go without saying that you should [repair the hard drive with Disk Utility|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1417] before any system install or update, though many people don't actually know that, so it must be said. If your system isn't problem-free, don't consider any system updates or upgrades until the problems are solved.

• Hello-Not Sure About the MBP Leopard Settings for the Display

I want to get a new MBP for my next step. I was also wanting th one-on-one but my bud has not had much expereince (good) with this. I think he and I need the persnal training? Is that the same as one-on-one?
<edited by host> I was wondering about the new display and how good it looks but is it a look that that is conducive to using other programs. It appears to be soo glossy and if you are not looking head on you miss a lot. Is this new display popular? Can it be changed so other programs can take front and center when you need them t and not the Leopard display all the time.
any feedback, helpful <edited by host>. I hope tis makes some sense.

If I were in your position I'd wait until the last possible moment. Vastly faster MBPs are coming (the much discussed Merom chip), possibly by the start of the school season, but absolutely by Oct/Nov. I would not buy now. The current MBP is just the beginning, and in two years it will really be showing it's age.
17" seems right for you considering your major, but keep in mind the 17" can be a PITA to schelp around.
If you will be going to a large school they might offer better deals than the online Apple Edu store, so be sure to check before buying.
The issues you see posted here are not typical. There are a large number of people that do have problems, but there is an even larger universe of owners that have no problems.

• My Sandisk cruzer thumb drive 4.0GB (which is very old, roughly 10 years and I'm not sure about the model) reads "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer" when inserted in my Macbook pro 2010. How do I get it to work?

My Macbook Pro 2010 with the latest OS does not open a particular Sandisk Cruzer 4.0GB (which is an old model, about 10 years) thumbdrive with the message "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer". Will I be able to read it on my macbook?

Is it readable in a Windows computer?  If not then you can try Disk Utility to repair the drive-- although that may be dangerous too.
I haven't had this problem so I out of safe ideas.  There are ustilies out there.   I used the seach term "repair flash drive Mac OS X" to locate some of these.
If the data is essential there are pay-for services to recover data looked the price was in the range $50 - $1000
All the best.
