I'm so frustrated with lenovo products (X200 and E420s owner)

I just received my thinkpad E420s, I can almost endure everything odd about it, e.g.,
* oddly placed keys, pgup / pgdown buttons, F1-F12, PrtSc between ctrl and alt? Ridiculous...
* no status indicator leds...
BUT what I really can't bear is there's a bad pixel on the screen!!!!!! AND after searching the internet, I found it imposible to replace or return becuase there's only one bad pixel...can any tell me how to make more??????
I'm currently still having a stucked X200 at home which I bought 18 months ago from Singapore. It has given up working after 13 month normal use. I was in China that time, I totally can't get it repaired because the SPECIAL/UNIQUE IWS policy in China.
I really don't know what's wrong with lenovo, is it time for me to say good bye to the "red point" ????
LENOVO, PLEASE DO NOT FRUSTRATE YOUR CUSTOMERS!

Got an E420 1141-JDG in May 2012… 18 days later, a bright vertical line appeared on the screen. The line is 2 pixels wide, 3.1 cm long, on the upper left side of the display. After the UEFI upgrade to 8HET41WW(1.23), the problem solved temporarily but reappeared then…
Haven't run any Diagnostics Utilities yet. According to the Hardware Maintenance Manual, the solution is 'LCD assembly'.
Also, noticed the computer doesn’t earth via the power adapter, so connected an earth wire to the USB shield for grounding. No HDD activity indicator, annoying… the pointing stick imprints the screen…
Didn’t let the Iranian guarantee provider to ‘service’ cos they know nothing about the ESD precautions & earthing… they even didn’t know the computers shouldn’t be moved when the HDD is running… informed Lenovo Service in Sweden & China + local IT Union by phone, email, fax & post, no response…
SURPRISINGLY, 2 yrs on, still no new malfunction… have used the computer almost daily… but I’ve been ALWAYS worried about its board failure…

  • Completely frustrated with downloan not working and deleting and attempting to reinstall resulting in three different accounts on my computer and none working.

    I downloaded Firefox mobile to my Droid. Connected to computer and followed instructions, using code provided on phone. Did not work. I tried to re-sync phone. It didn't work. I deleted Firefox on phone and reinstalled app. The connected phone to computer to re-sync. Could not get anything to work using"I have an account" tab so opened up another sync account. It didn't work. I deleted app again and tried again and used a third sync account to sync phone with computer. I got nowhere. Completely frustrated with three sync accounts and none working.
    Need help to delete all accounts and start over. Can't seem to find a way to do this.

    I tried this (opening in Photoshop CS5 and resaving as jpg) as you mention:
    The remedy to this problem has usually been to open the image (the one that is having an identity crisis) in Photoshop or another image editor, and simply resave it. You don't need to edit it or rename it or anything--just open and resave.
    Re-imported and it does work fix (I get picture1 and picture2 instead of  just picture1 for all pictures).
    Having said that, I looked at all the file properties I could for:
    picture1.jpg (original)
    picture1.jpg (resaved in CS5)
    To see what changed. All are properties are identical (color depth, pixel size, etc.) except that resaved image is ~20% larger (I saved max file size jpg in CS5).
    So original is ~6MB
    resaved jpg is ~8MB
    So the question - why can't CS5 premiere import these directly (with resaving?) and what is working with the resave that locks up the first time?
    These pictures are straight from a Canon 50D, with no editing or resaving - dumped off camera to computer.  I can reproduce this error 100% of the time (new project, new folder, import 2 pics) so it isn't something goofy with the way I'm importing - 100% how premiere is handling this.
    Very disappointed that I now need to open/resave/rerender each of ~1100 images to simply use them.  Given that these jpgs are being produced by a mainstream camera with support image format.
    Any thoughts?

    So I guess, I'm going to have swap my drive and re-install my OS when the machine arrives.
    I'm not going to be able to capture directly to my desktop (due to poratability reasons). So is there I way in Premire CS3 to uncompress the HDV from the camera and store it in my HDD in uncompressed format? I don't mind having to do this extra step each time if the post production experience is going to be better.
    I've heard a lot about Aspect HD from you and others here as well as other forums. I'm not very video savvy yet and don't understand a lot of the vocabulary used :). I've been to their website and don't get what their products are supposed to give me either (I guess their audience understands exactly what they are saying).
    What I do get is it decompresses the MPEG 2 to saves it to yout HDD for editing purposes. However, I would have thought the Premier Pro CS3 would have that capability as part of the product, no?
    I'd also like to use footage that is not HDV as well as photos/images (composits) but still retain the final cut to be HDV quality. Is this possible and if so, what does it do to the editing experience/performance?
    Will I be able to output the final cut back to my camera's Mini DV tape (without having to buy Aspect HD)?

  • Very Disappointed with Lenovo Products & Support

    After spending times during the holidays researching the new laptop, I found out that T400 would be really powerful and slick and I was excited placing an order and could not wait to receive it.  Today, I received the product.  It was delivered couple days earlier than the dellivery date.  So far perfect!
    After having dinner, I jumped in the work - opened up the package and put the battery and plug the power on.  Here is what I've been waiting for.  Hit the power on!
    The system ran very quietly - greatly, then the system is setting up the VIsta Business OS. 
    Than PING!!!  'Install Windows - can not complete installation.  Restart the installation' error message displayed!
    Can't be!  Next thing I know I spent 0/5 hours recyclying the power and the error message was still in the loop.  Got no where!
    I called support for help.  The first guy asked me to hit F11 to go to recovery OS.  Tried that - the system had problem recovering the OS.  It gave me an error about Windows recovery proble.  The support guy told me that I need to go online to register my product, so my warranty is activated and then call back the Lenovo support to ask for System Recovery discs.  DId that and called back.
    The second support guy was on the call and tried to give me some help.  Didn't go anywhere.  He said he'd transfer me to talk to T400 support people.  Sound good!
    I was on the phone for 1/2 hrs with the third guy trying to ask me to hit all those F8, F11 key for system recovery.  At this point, my head was all of steam and ran out of patience.  I asked him if he knows what he's talking about.  He counter-argued with me and blamed on me for not following the process.  He finally came back to me to go to Lenovo website to find instruction how to create my own system recovery discs.  I followed his direction and go the the website he recommended.  After reading the instruction, the assumption is that you must be in Lenovo thinkpad and in Windows Vista to create the recovery disc.  This is typical to all Vista OS.  Struck out for the third time for the lousy support.
    I decided to call back for the last time.  Talked to the fourth support guy.  He read the case and asked me to go online and register and call back to ask for the System recovery discs.  That's it for me.  I told him that I had enough of the BS.  I've decided not to tolerate this scrappy support and pack this brand new T400 which I now believe it was the worst laptop I've ever bought.  I could buy a no brand name laptop and it worked even better and I don't have to talk to these kinda support people.
    What a nightmare!  No more Lenovo!  I'm sharing a real life experience with highly overated brand name Lenovo!  It's off my list for now.

    OK.  Thing just got worse and worse which I'm now convinced that Lenovo organization is far below inferior.
    In the last couple days, I've placed multiple calls to the RMA dept. and dealt with 4 different analysts trying to have the MFG defected T400 RMAed back to Lenovo with full refunds.  These analysts advised me that I had to pay 15% restocking fee or I had to order the new laptop for exchange.  I told that I do not feel obligated to pay for the restocking fee since this is a MFG defected brand new laptop; otherwise, this would be a good but scammy business model that Lenovo is running.  These guys stuck with their policy, so I asked to speak with the supervisor/manager on duty to have this matter resolved.  I've already requested three times couple days ago and have not heard back from them.
    I kept calling them back.  The last analyst I spoke to with the name Akshatha Rxxxxxxx (x. 17xxx) based in India tried to asked me with same old questions from the previous analysts (one of them is Ahmed Sxxxx - x17xxx) which I declined to go through the same scripted interview.  I told this lady that I was just simply wanting to speak with the supervivor or manager on duty to have the matter resolved ASAP.  She told me that I had to answer her questions, otherwise, she will not help me with my request.  I then just told her to end the call and file a formal complaint with Lenovo.  She said you do so.  So that is what I have to go through.
    I can't imagine Lenovo's customer service stands at this inferior level.  Rightnow, I'm getting a brand new laptop that doesn't work and have to deal with these kinds of service flows.  Where does Lenovo stand at the customer's voice?
    I'll definitely file a formal complaint and raise this matter publicly.  I'll keep you posted...

  • Very frustrated with poor customer service and lack of integrity

    Earlier today my wife and I bought a TV from your Huntsville, AL store (removed per forum guidelines). We were looking at your 32" TVs and had several questions about them. After flagging down a sales associate, we questioned the pricing of several TVs. They were advertised under the display as one price, then where the inventory was at, were labeled a different price. The sales person confirmed that the smaller price was the correct price and the displays were incorrectly labeled. We proceeded to pick out a 32" Vizio E320I-B1/E3 TV that was labeled $219.99 where it was stocked (There were two rows of this TV all labeled $219.99) and the display was labeled $259.99. Again, I flagged down the sales associate (Taylor) on the floor and questioned the display pricing vs the shelf pricing. He AGAIN confirmed that the shelf pricing was the correct pricing and the display pricing was for a different model. We proceeded to check out, purchased a 2 year protection plan along with an HDMI cord and were on our way, new TV in tow. On the way home we reviewed the receipt and noticed we had been charged incorrectly for the TV. It rang up as 259.99 even though it was clearly labeled 219.99 and we had verified TWICE with an associate that 219.99 was the correct price. We went back to the store, thinking we would be refunded the difference. After spending over 30 minutes with customer service explaining what happened, customer service informed us that they could not refund the difference even after we showed them where the TVs were at and priced as 219.99 AND verified with the sales associate that he had confirmed that price with us TWICE. We then returned the TV for a full refund, to which my money is still tied up in the transaction until sometime next week (all for a TV that was FRAUDULENTLY sold to me!!). Not only was it mislabeled, but your sales associate told me TWO times that the labeling was correct. I am disappointed with the lack of customer service that we received. It is beyond frustrating to me that your company is unable to honor a $40 error in pricing that your very own sales associate confirmed. I believe that the store was 100% at fault for this situation and am more than displeased with the original situation and the events that followed. I consider it a disgusting lack of integrity to fraudulently sell a customer an item and refuse to right the situation when able. There is no doubt in my mind that the store manager (Cedric) or division manager could have authorized the TV to be sold at the price listed (and confirmed by the sales associate twice!) but they simply chose not to.  Prior to today I had a positive view of Best Buy and considered it my store of choice for many items. My wife even did seasonal work for this store several years prior. Unfortunately, I will no longer choose to give my money to a cooperation that does not value integrity, honesty, and accountability. I understand that you are a large corporation and my few purchases probably won't even put a dent in your profit margin, but I would just like to remind you that I represent your entire customer base. If this is the type of customer service that your company prides itself on, then I am sure this is only one of many incidents. I find that extremely unfortunate. I will now be purchasing the same TV from another company for $259.99 (where it was actually labeled correctly, and the sales associate is able to accurately confirm the pricing). My future business will not be with you after today.

    Purchasing a new TV should be fun, exciting, and straightforward, and not be complicated by unclear signage and conflicting information. I very much regret that this was your experience at the Huntsville store.
    I completely understand your conclusion that -- after the attempts to verify pricing that you made -- you should have had no questions and no surprises about the cost of the TV after purchase. Did Cedric give you any explanation as to why the TV you bought rang up at a different price or for his not honoring the display pricing?
    It is wholly disheartening to hear that this experience may influence how you shop in the future. It is my hope that you will one day give Best Buy another chance to win you over.

    Hi orth04, It sounds like ThinkVantage System Update is not working for you.
    One alternative is to manually download and install the drivers.
    The other alternative is to make System Update do what you want. Can you give us some more details about what happens?

    I have started using iWeb (coming from FrontPage and a dab of Dreamweaver). Great, and, most importantly, very well integrated with the rest of Apple's programs and services and devices.
    I have noticed that IE of course has trouble bringing up iWeb sites/pages: much of the time, IE just hangs, seemingly freezing the whole system (while posting "Done" on its bottom bar), and eventually breaks through and put up iWeb pages and sites quite truthfully. Firefox of course, which I have just installed in the Windows "side" of my MBPro/BootCamp system, blazes through iWed creations, just like Safari does. And, Firefox does not freeze. So, as I post my iWeb sites, I will include mention to install Firefox on Windows machines and just have it handy. Granted, most Win users WILL continue to use IE: so I must find ways to have my sites play in I decently.
    RE: Firefox, I did notice that its screen fonts are NOT as sharp as IE's or Safari's same with Firefox screens in general: graphics OK, rest somewhat jagged/blurry) . Perhaps this does account for some of its speed. And even though I choose the option of letting sites exhibit their own fonts (rather a pre-selected one by Firefox - Time Roman usually), often Firefox picks its own font(s) to display text from sites. IE has better controls as to WHAT fonts will be displayed for a given site (i.e. the site's fonts, or IE's choice of fonts). So, Firefox's speed does NOT seem to come at no cost (I do like the sharpness of text in IE and Safari: anything blurry or stair-steppy makes my eyes very uncomfortable!)!
    Another observation/question: as I finetune/experiment with a iWeb built site, I notice that text boxes that have been "imaged" by iWeb for one reason on another (example: text outlined, or underlined or made into hyperlinks) reproduces very faithfully what was in iWeb in the first place. Would that be then a good way to make sure that text looks exactly like it was intended and fits exactly right on the page? Or does "imaged" text produce larger (graphic) files than plain text (I suspect so).
    This is an extraordinary forum indeed... With tools like iWeb and talented folks such as those sharing their amazing websites here, anything is possible!

  • Lenovo ThinkPad X200S Stuck ... !!!

    When I bought my Lenovo ThinkPad X200S, All my friends make fun on me they called me (idiot) because they are Fans for DELL and/or HP ….  They said that this Laptop look like Old style since they Create the first laptop in the world , they was proud with there laptops ,with a lot of Colored lights ,touch buttons ,cover Themes … etc
    But I was defending my Own laptop the Great (Lenovo ThinkPad X200S) , and I was telling them , (Guys , I bought the laptop form the Creators of the technology , IBM , the great Name, The History , I bought the Performance , Durability ,Genus Engineering ) , even how much I trust Lenovo , I gave me self the right to tell them that (Lenovo products , never Broke , and never stuck or let me down ) ….
    But, when I was trying to Stop my Bluetooth Device using (FUN + Radio Button) …..Ooops, the Laptop Stuck?!!!!!! , I was shocked!!!!! , it was like someone stabs me with a Knife in my back..!!! , if you want the Truth my friend make fun on me more and more , and I Toke my laptop home without even say good by …I was disappointed like never before .. !!!
    I tried more and more to do that again in home , and it was the same result , Even I found that when I try to Start OR Stop the Wi-fi from the Button at the lest side of the laptop , the same thing happening  90% from  my trying (laptop stuck again ) !!!!!!
    I try to format and install new windows 7 pro …
    I Install all the latest driver using (Thinkvantige system Update) …
    I install all Microsoft Updates …
    I install Norton internet security 2011  …
    I install thinkvantige toolbox latest Version …
    I make full hardware test , Everything  was fine !!! , no problems at all
    But, again, when I try to do the same thing, (Start or stop any radio device) using (Fun + Radio Button OR from the Wi-Fi Button at the left side) same thing happened again LAPTOP STUCK ….
    My laptop still under warranty till 31/3/2012 ….
    And now I have no place else to ask for Advice except here, so please lenovo Good Team, Help me

  • Backup Problem with only Production Server

    Here i have backup problem in only production server. In my tape drive device all schedule backup of Development  server and Quality Server and Production server . In this i get all backup in Development and Quality server, But in Production server backup was fail and not only one all backup is fail from last 2 days . So can u tell me what is the problem with my production server and how can i find it in production.
    And any hardware issue or OS issue is responsible for this.
    Please help me out.

    "How Disaster recovery site can be synchronized with the production server and how do they switch? Will the web logic server do this for them?"
    This customer is having two sites one live and one a DR (Disaster Recovery) site on different location.

    Firstly
    Is your Datagaurd Physical( Redo Apply) or Logical( SQL apply)?
    Does it have Datagaurd Broker?
    When Datagaurd is setup in your environment - on the primary database( live database) the Datagaurd users LGWR or/and ARCH process to collect redo data and ship this data to standby ( DR site) and the FAL process to provide client-server mechanism for shipping archived logs to standby.
    On standby database, The Datagaurd users RFS process to receive redo records from primary database, the MRP process applies redo information to standby database.
    If the Data Gaurd Broker is enabled, Datagaurd also used DMON process to manage and monitor both primary and standby databases as a unified configuration.
    When there is any connectivity issue to the standby and when connection is re-established, the accumulated archive logs are automatically shipped and apploed to stanby, until stanby is resynchronized with the primary. This process does not require any administrative intervention.
    If there is a very large Archive Gap between the primary and secondary due to some major issue. Then the unshipped archive logs need to be shipped manually from primary to standby and needs to be applied in standby to sync up with primary. For some reason there will also arise rare issues like problem with not applying of archive logs though log shipping is success. So some work arround will solve it.
    Comming to planned /unplanned outages of production site.
    Datagaurd has Failover and Switchover( planned ) methods, These are not automatic, but have to be explicitly initiated by the administrator( So there will be downtime but minimal). Once initiated, Datagaurd automates the processes involved.

    If you just purchased this then you should go back to the iStore to get a new copy since they are responsible for providing the package with the serial number intact.  If this is an old purchase then you should check your Adobe account online to see if the serial number is available as a result of registering the product.

  • Open production orders and outbound delivery after go-live

    I tried to search answer for this question but could not find answer.
    Could anybody suggest, what to do with open production orders and outbound delivery after go-live when WM is activated. As, after go-live WM-PP interface will be activated and system should consume material from storage bin specified in control cycle and that will happen for newly created production order after go-live,but what about existing production orders how to update production supply area against work center in production order.
    Similarly with outbound delivery how to update WM status after go-live.

    Regarding production order yes, one way is to re-read PP master data in production orders, but is that the only way to handle this or do we have any other option?
    I was aware of re-read PP master data but it will real time consuming and also if it will problematic for already released or partially confirmed production orders.

  • I can scroll down web pages with my Lenovo ThinkPad X200. I could, but then I got some updates and it doesn't work. I can scroll fine with an external mouse. I just can't use the "scroll controls" on my laptop. Any ideas why? It's frustrating!

    When I got my machine two years ago and loaded Firefox, I could scroll with the red button that's on the keyboard of the Lenovo ThinkPad x200. Then, a few months ago, Firefox was updated. Not sure which version. And, now I can't scroll. The keypad scroll works in MS Windows programs. It just doesn't work in Firefox. I can't get anywhere with the options so I'm stuck for now. (The scrolling works in Internet Explorer). So, I think it's something that going on with FireFox not with my computer.

    In general, you are correct - but also your server does need to be properly configured (and those errors above lead me to think it may not be) to serve the file types that your uploading - but it could be something else entirely. Can you zip up your composition folder, upload it to your Creative Cloud files, set it to share, and then post a link here so I can download it? If you'd rather not share it publicly, can you PM me with a link to your composition files?
