I'm trying to write an Applescript: when I add a file to a folder, I want finder to name it "1" and increment the other files in the folder by 1. i.e. once I drop a new file into the folder, the file originally called "1" will be renamed "2" etc

I'm trying to write an Applescript. I have never used Applescript but my boss has just asked me to write a script so I dutifully nodded and said "Yes Boss"...
The funtionality I need is that I want finder to rename the files in folder when I drop a new file in. When I add the new file (file neame: "1") to a folder, I want to increment the other file names in the folder by 1.
So when I drop a my new "1" file into the folder, the file original file called "1" will be renamed "2", the original file named "2" will be renamed "3" etc
I'm creating a 'stream' of images. When I add a new image i want it to nudge the other images in the folder along.

When I tried opening them, it said that I needed to open them with an application, and that I needed to chose one. I chose iTunes. When I tried double clicking on "iTunes library extras" after this, all it did was open up iTunes. Nothing else. Someone please help me because I had a lot of songs that I liked, and recently downloaded. And it will be a pain to get them all back if no one can help me.

Are the files still physically on your HD?
[User]/Music/iTunes/Media/Music is the default location. Unless you suddenly have a bunch of new "free space" on your hard drive, they're still where they were, you just need to create a new library file.

How to Use Multiple iDevices with One Computer

New Firefox will not let me file a new bookmark into a folder.

Previously with Firefox I could file a new bookmark directly into a new or existing folder. How can I do that with new Firefox??? (without having to save it and then move it later, which I don't see how to do anyway) And how can I organize and edit bookmarks and folders with new Firefox? This was all so easy previously with Firefox. This is a major step backward in user unfriendliness.

Ctrl+D is the "Bookmark This Page" item in the Bookmarks menu on the menu bar.
*Tap the Alt key or press F10 to show the Menu bar.
This saves the new bookmark by default in the Bookmarks Menu folder.
In current Firefox releases the "Bookmark This Page" menu entry in the Bookmarks menu changes to "Edit This Bookmark" once you have bookmarked the page and the star on the Navigation Toolbar is highlighted blue.
So do not get confused by the missing "Bookmark This Page" in the Bookmarks menu and seeing "Edit This Bookmark" instead if you try to bookmarks a page that is already bookmarked.

Drag and drop multiple mail messages into a folder in finder

Hello All,
I want to archive emails into folders in the finder. I can do this by dragging and dropping individual emails but not bulk emails.
Does anywone know the best way of doing this?
The reason I want to do it is once we have compleated a contract with a client, I want to archive all the messages, pictures, contacts etc into one finder folder. This way, my mail app wont keep growing horribly in size every year.

When i add an invoice number on 'overview' sheet want it to automatically add the same data to client's individual transaction sheet?

Im fairly new to numbers and have had limited experience to spredsheet based programs, so bare with me and i already appreciate your time to help!
Apologise on the question description but, im attempting fairly indepth equations for my business and once all set up and learnt it will help a great deal!
So, I have an overview sheet including all sent invoices to all clients. I am having to link each cell one at a time between the overview sheet and the clients individual sheet so the data is viewable on both sheets. I want numbers to transfer the data from my overview sheet to the corresponding clients individual sheet based on the invoice number i input. eg. invoice numbers system is 101 for my first invoice 102 is my second invoice . I then add a client number eg. 101 is client 1. 102 is client 2 so my invoice numbering system would be 101 - 101 or 101 - 102 (invoice number first then client number). when i add a clients number i want numbers to add that line of data (sales amount and dates) to the clients sheet.
Is that possible?

As I read your description:
You have a Main table ("Overview") on which you record ALL invoices.
You want, for each client, a table on which only the data for invoices issued to that client will appear.
Each client will be identified by a client number, and that client number will form part of the invoice number.
Certainly possible, but I'd suggest a few changes to whaty you're starting with.
Place the client number and the invoice serial number into separate columns (or split off the customer number into a separate column, You want to transfer/copy every record for a specific customer into that customer's individual sheet. Here's a short example:
I have entered the invoice numbers as you described them in column B of Main.
Column E extractsthe three digit client number using this formula:
E2, and Filled Down: =IF(LEN(B)>6,RIGHT(B,3),"")
Column F creates a client index by copying the cient number from column C, then counting the number of occurrences of that number are found from the top of column C to the current row, and appends that number to the end of the customer number.
F2, and filled down: =C2&COUNTIF($C$1:C2,C2)
These two columns should be added to the right of the existing table, and may be hidden.
On the individual table, Haydn 101, there is one formula, filled to all cells.
The basic formula is:
=OFFSET(Main :: $A$1,MATCH($A$1&ROW()-1,Main :: $F,0)-1,COLUMN()-1)
which returns the results for as many ,ines as there are transactions to transfer, and produces error messages after that.
To avoid the error messages, and produce 'empty' cells, add the following error trap, using the IFERROR function (bold added to show addition):
=IFERROR(OFFSET(Main :: $A$1,MATCH($A$1&ROW()-1,Main :: $F,0)-1,COLUMN()-1),"")
Fill the formula down column A, then Fill right for as many columns as are needed.
The individual tables, Ives 102 and Scarlatti 103 are duplicates of Haydn 101. Only the Client Number, in cell A1(and the name of the table) are changed.

Upgrading from FF 3.0.5 on Intel Duo Macbook (OS 10.5.8). Cannot drag downloaded new version into applications folder. Missing some "privileges."

My library only shows barely half of the songs that are on my ipod. i had to do a recovery on my computer and reinstall itunes. 90% of the songs on my ipod were purchased through itunes. Now i cant load new songs without erasing all the ones on my ipod.

I downloaded new songs and now it wont let me put them on my ipod unless i erase all of the songs and just put the ones in my library. I think there are something like 140 or less songs in the library and there are almost 300 on my ipod. What gives?

Hook up your iPod, there should be a selection somewhere that allows you to sync the iTunes purchased content ONLY back into your iTunes from the iPod.
Non-iTunes purchased content needs a third party utility, look at iLounge or elsewhere for it.
As always maintan a backup of your content on external medium, cd/dvd/external drive as Apple will not redownload content.
You bought it, your responsible for it's preservation.
