I May Finally Be Getting Some Answers

After a day of going around in circles, I'm finally getting some answers on my whole "trust market" problem, and it looks like the error could be Verizon's.
When I ordered my MiFi last month, I did so online, and for some reason, their computer assigned my MiFi an Alma, Michigan phone number.  Alma is in Gratiot county, which is a county to the north of me.  I live in Clinton county.  This is important due to the following:
I spoke with a sales person at the local Verizon dealer, and he informed me that my city (St. Johns) is not part of the trust market, and that the trust market is north of here.  My phones have Lansing numbers (517 area code), so that's not the problem.  The problem is the Alma number that Verizon arbitrarily assigned my MiFi last month.  The MiFi has a number that is in the trust market, even though I do not live in the trust market, nor is my account in the trust market.
The Verizon CSR directed me to the map of the trust markets on AT&T's website.  This map clearly shows that the trust markets are defined county-by-county.  Gratiot county is part of the trust market.  Clinton county is not.  For some reason (probably that dang MiFi card), Verizon thinks I live in Gratiot county.  I do not....I live in Clinton county.
Furthermore, the local sales rep tells me that I should have never been assigned an Alma number for a device in St. Johns, and he even gave me the prefixes that the MiFi card should have been assigned.  Neither of the St. Johns prefixes was assigned to the card.  Instead, I got an Alma prefix, which is causing all of this confusion.
So basically, this was Verizon's geographical error.  They have put my account in the wrong county, and they need to put it back in the right county.  I explained this to the CSR three times.  Now I'm waiting for a supervisor to call me back.
Man, this is frustrating!

It looks as if I may be on the way to a resolution  Verizon admitted that they gave me an out-of-area number for the MiFi (probably because I ordered online and the number was issued at random), that it was their mistake, and that they are working to correct the situation so that I won't be switched to AT&T (although they couldn't make any promises, but it's a good sign).  Hopefully, they can straighten this thing out.

    Michael, I suggest that you find a website developer to consult and help you with your project. An e-commerce site (especially one with as many products as yours) just does not strike me as one which is easily administrated by someone who has the limited experience with web design, development, and administration that you described as your skill set.
    I suggest this because I want to see you succeed with your enterprise, and there are a lot of potential landmines in front of you that a more experienced developer can help you avoid. There are a number of different, and good, shopping cart services out there, and one or more of them may offer you the level of customization you want. (And they may, or may not, be supported by Go Daddy.) But please save yourself time and frustration by finding a good collaborator. It'll end up being one of the best business decisions you will ever make.

  • Can I please get some answers about fraudulent access to my itunes account?

    Today I found three unauthorized charges to my itunes account. Following those three charges, three other unauthorized charges appeared from other software/gaming companies (NCSoft, Valve Software, and TMA). I can't get an actual person to answer the phone at Apple and I would like some answers about unauthorized access to itunes accounts. When I called my bank to report the fraud, they told me they had already received several calls this morning about unauthorized itunes charges and then larger, unauthorized software charges.
    I would really like someone from Apple to address these questions, are they aware that there are problems with itunes accounts? If so, what is being done?

    I had the same EXACT thing happen to me. This morning I looked at my bank account & there was a $1 charge from itunes (not unusual, except this charge did not come with an email receipt as they usually do) there there are two $49.99 holds on my account from Valve Software. I cancelled my card with the bank right away. I tried calling Valve Software and a message comes on stating "if you have a question about a charge to your bank account, press 7". Happen much??? hmmmm I left a message with no return call as of yet. I'm guessing someone hacked my itunes account.. Valve Software is a video game website that sells downloads on there as well as through itunes. Apple should immediately cease dealings with this company as they sound VERY shady. This is not the first blog I've seen about it. Now it's going to take time to get my money back & now I have to get a new card/card number. Pain in the butt because some hacker needs a thrill. jerks...

    It seems that thousands of people have been having trouble with burning, so it is obviously a big problem. This is a thread where you can post questions and answers (only about burning errors) so others can help you or be helped by your advice.
    If there is already something out there like this, forgive me for making a new thread, but it seems like some people need some answers.
    Anywhoo, has anyone found something what worked for them? I've heard of changing the burning speed, changing the type of disc you burn on, and a variety of other technical solutions that didn't really work for me.
    Anyone had some luck with the bunring problem???

    Judging by the date of your submission and the number of good knowledgeable contributors, it appears no one has an answer. I have had error code 4251 since March, and it is clear from other topic headings others are having this same problem together with codes 4261, 4280, etc. I have followed the threads, and appreciate all the suggestions put by others in their spare time. Seems they are caring more than Apple.
    It seems Apple's response is at the moment "none" (one wonders if they even recognize there is a problem), and so a fix, workaround, or a new set of procedures to follow is not to be forthcoming soon. I would therefore urge people who are having these problems to move to another system ("Urge" seems compatible in pricing, and works on my machine with Windows Media Player) to burn CDs.
    We pay for the tunes on iTunes, and it appears that price does not include support.

  • I just got my iPhone 4 & need a lil help. May I please get some help?

    Ok...I finally got home & am able to play around w/ my new iPhone 4.
    I logged onto my iTunes account and a screen popped up saying "An iPhone has previously been linked to this computer"..Then I get 2 options:
    -Set up as new iPhone
    -Restore from the back up of
    And then I get the options to restore from my fiancee's iTouch and the 1 I used to have.
    By the way...we've never had iPhones before so for It to say that 1 was previously registered is odd...we've only had iTouch's.
    Anyways...I would like to transfer my apps. over.
    What do I do here?
    Do I resore from my iPod touch that I had or do I set up as a new phone?
    And If I set up as a new phone...can I still bring my apps over?
    Help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

    1. Does the FTTC cabinet HAVE to be in a specific location?
    2. Is there a way i can locate my current ADSL cabinet?
    3. Openreach are having trouble with local authority about the location of the new cabinet, im in Dartford and wondering is there a someone who deals with rollout in the Dartford area i can talk to?

It is Openreach who do the upgrade. They will not speak to members of the public, only ISP. You might be able to get your local council or local MP to contact them and ask questions on your behalf. See further info below.

    Up until recently you could email Openreach and ask when your cabinet was likely to be upgraded however Openreach are no longer giving out that information, instead they are replying:-

    Well,good. I missed a lot of protocol moving out of 3.1 & 95 up to newer stuff. Would not have known that a non bill gates program would use their procedures but does make sense. Also, i only use that kind of select once a year or 2 so skill gets lost. I can tell you a lot more about Ranger trucks or old John deeres.. Thanks I'm done here

    This is a new problem for me so I hope I can get some answers. Thanks The problem now are not flash player. this Mac freezes and cannot be started again. Every time she tries to login,the screen starts to shiver,like when a wrong password is being used.???? 

    She may have an incompatible version of Flash plyer. Also, there have been some cases of fake copies floating around.
    The best thing is to uninstall it and download a new version directly from Adobe.

    You may be going on a recollection, that I share, that at one time Apple stated this would be possible:

    That was a long time ago, it has never been officially implemented, and at present they specifically say it cannot be done.
    In summary, it may work, but probably won't, and even if it does it may not be reliable.

    Playlists on the iPhone are the same as on the iPod. Just connect the iPhone and go to the iPhone Music tab in iTunes. You can check the playlists you want on the iPhone.
    One "trick" is to create a new playlist and just drag all of the music you want on the iPhone to this playlist, then sync only that playlist.
    Another option is to use the "Convert higher bit rate songs to 128kbps AAC" on the iphone Summary page in iTunes. This will compress the music and you will lose some quality, but unless you are using $500 headphones you won't notice.

    You mean you copied photos from your camera roll to a new album, correct? Well, that's the way it works. The photos wern't actually copied to your new album, just pointers to the actual photos, which are still in your camera roll. So, yes, if you delete from your camera roll, you remove them from your phone.

  • Upgraded to Mavericks, now I can't get some websites to load

    I am not sure if the two issues are related, but I recently upgraded to Mac OS X Mavericks and now my internet browsers are really slow and I can't get some websites to load. When I check to see if the website is up, the response from http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ is that it is just me. I assume it must be something with the upgrade as I did not have the issue prior to upgrading. I have tried accessing these sites in various browsers (Safari - preferred, Firefox, and Chrome), but none of them receive data from the site.
    I also had a lot of trouble attaching a .jpg to an e-mail in Safari and Firefox. Google Chrome was finally able to get it to attach. I wonder if this is related.

    I've been researching, and trawling through the web reading articles regarding OS X Server and wondered if I could get some solid advice on my current situation.
    We currently operate a Windows Small Business Server 2003 and have five client machines accessing the domain for email, calendars and contacts. Our current network consists of:
    1 x Windows Small Business Server 2003 (with 400GB tape backing up Exchange 2003)
    1 x Windows Home Server (acts as a 2TB file server with hotswap backup. It has 6TB in total, with 2TB main system and files, 2TB Raid and the final 2TB mirror is taken offsite each night)
    1 x G5 Mac (snow leopard and entourage)
    1 x iMac (snow leopard and entourage)
    1 x Vista PC
    1 x Vista PC
    1 x Vista Laptop
    1 x Colour Lazer Printer
    1 x Lazer Printer
    Now are at a point where our SBS server is getting quite old and we're also moving premises and employing an additional 3 people. We also need to kit out a boardroom.
    I mapped out what I thought was a suitable setup and would love to hear from any experts if this is a viable solution for us.
    This is what I had in mind:
    1 x Macbook Pro (Snow Leopard)
    1 x Macbook Pro (Snow Leopard)
    1 x G5 Mac (Snow Leopard)
    1 x iMac (Snow Leopard)
    1 x Mac Mini (Snow Leopard, the the boardroom)

    Our new premises has a 1GB Network throughout so we don't really need to reply on wireless.
    We're a design agency and as you can imagine we work on quite large files. Since getting the Windows Home Server as a new file server we have noticed the odd lag and also Mac users not being able to save some of the files they're working on (due to some weird message saying the file is locked!).
    Like many people I'm just after a solution that works, without constant tweaking and messing around. Plus I'd like to bring our IT support in-house and the new Mac Mini Server seems like a possibility for us.
    Any advice or coments you can give with help us greatly.

    You have listed a G5 Mac currently and proposed to run Snow Leopard. G5 is a PowerPC, and does not run Snow Leopard. Could this be an Intel Mac Pro, which uses a very similar metal cabinet?
    It is not clear from your description whether you intend to keep a Server running Windows for your Windows Home Directories, or whether you would switch to a Mac Server hosting Windows Home directories as well as Mac Home directories. In a school environment, Apple suggests a second server if you are hosting home directories for more than 150 simultaneously connected users. Your two-server solution may be overkill.
    The server-on-mini is an interesting idea, but if its Disk Access is slow, it will punish every computer on your network. For a commercial environment, I suggest you host your Server on a computer more expandable and capable of faster disk access than a mini. Using a Mac Pro for the Server would allow you to run faster drives and optionally add software RAID Mirroring on the Home directories to improve uptime. Using an Xserve adds the capability of remote status monitoring with the actual Server locked in a closet somewhere, but is much more expensive.

    My mac keeps locking up it s Power mac G5 Intel using 10.6.8 OS.X. I get no warning or error messages it just locks up and the only way to get it to work again is to depress power button and restart. Its random intermittent and incredibly frustrating. I do get some screen distortion from time to time and wondered whether it may be a graphics card issue or whether it could be solved with a complete system re-install and OS upgrade?

    According to everymac.com, your Mac came with Tiger, 10.4.x and can't go any higher than Lion, 10.7.x.
    It would have come with gray, machine specific disks. Since there's no reason to install 10.4.x first, and then Snow Leopard over that, just purchase a retail copy of Snow Leopard for $20. What you won't get with the retail version of SL is the iLife suite (Garage Band, iDVD, etc.) that were on the original bundled disks, but you can purchase iLife on Amazon pretty cheap, and get newer versions besides.
    When you get Snow Leopard, you can boot to the DVD, erase the drive and install everything clean. Hopefully, you issue is only software, and not hardware related.
