I need a database for my website.

I want people to be able to come to my website and create an account or if they have an existing one login, then when they login I want it to take them to their own little file server on my server. So like they would have their own folder to upload files to or download files from.
I was thinking about setting up a MySQL database to do this, but I am not sure about how to go about in doing this.
If there is any other way of doing this, I am open for suggestions, just let me know.

Will people be able to login to the FTP server from my website and do everything through their browser?
Users could use web based ftp client or a 3rd party ftp client.
Have look at the sytem the following school uses.

Need antispam script for my website guestbook entries... recommendations?

My guestbook on my website got so slammed by spambots that i had to take it offline. I would like to get one of those scripts where the person has to fill in what they see in a box (letters, numbers, etc) in order to make an entry into my guestbook. My web designers says that i need to find a script for this. Any recommendations? I don't even know what these scripts are called, making them hard to look for!
He does the website work in Dreamweaver in Tiger, if that makes any difference. This is a guestbook that forwards entries to me as emails (they are not diplayed on the site)

Even if the video is a large file, internet users are use to this type of scenario where they choose to play a movie, ala youtube and others, that if their connections are slow there may be delays in video playback. With all that said, I have seen and used page loaders where visitors will be expecting to wait a while for a result to happen, I just don't think this scenario warrants it.

Same database for more websites

I want to make 6 websites with different domeinnames (but
under the same host) with the same database (MySQL), so that I just
have to update the 1 database and all 6 websites will be updated.
But how do I do this? When I use one database login as
Connection for a website which isn't its database .. then I get the
message "Can't connect to MySQL server". So when I cannot use the
same database because I cannot connect to it, can I send datas to 6
different databases or is there a more easy way?

hosting
company. It's quite sensible when you think about it, because

I need a preloader for my website

Hi Experts.
Can someone point me to good tutorials and/or instruction videos that solve the following problem?
I am building a website that will have many images and several movies created in my CAD software as ".avi" files, then re-saved as Quicktime ".mov" files. The largest movie is 60.8KB. They will be located on more than one page on the site.

I need a preloader that runs automatically as my site splash page opens, and loads all that stuff while displaying a progress indicator of some sort.
I also need tips on whether the best strategy is to use CSS, Action Script, or some other coding that will work for most browsers and does not subvert optimization or do other mysterious bad things.

Why are there databases for two websites in my appdata roaming firefox default profile folder?

C:\Users\user\appdata\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\i4unw84s.default\databases\http_www.fling.com_
C:\Users\user\appdata\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\i4unw84s.default\databases\https_cashier.bovada.lv_
Both of these website databases have 64 KB and are io_temp.sqlite files. I want to know how they were created and what information is being stored there. I know my boyfriend goes on the bovada site alot but want to know if he has personal login info stored for both of these sites. I know they aren't cookies because I saw the list of cookies and deleted them and these files are still there. I really want to know if the only way the websites could be in the folder is because he intentionally saved info stored on those sites and if not, then why are they part of his roaming profile?

hello, i could find no documentation whatsoever on what the ''databases'' folder within the profile or a ''io_temp.sqlite''-file would do in the context of firefox (maybe this was an early version of ''dom storage'' or ''indexeddb'').
if you are having questions about the usage of these sites by your boyfriend, you should probably speak with him directly about this, instead of finding an answer this way...

Creating database for MUSE website using Business Catalyst.

We are building a membership site using Adobe MUSE. We are also using Business Catalyst to build the CRM customer database. We are using this as an alternative to MySQL since there is no direct connection between MySQL and MUSE. The only work around we know is to export the MUSE website to HTML. Import that HTML into Adobe DREAMWEAVER and the build the connections that way. This is time consuming and prone to errors as this does not create a flow in both system and data manipulation design.
We would like so home in creating, maintaining and performing searching on the database we create in Business Catalyst.

As I mentioned, when a form is filled (Email is always required) then this the contact is added to the CRM.
You can not render the CRM on the front end as I think you will want. You would have to look to form web apps and display things that way.
Please note that Muse is a designer tool and has limited scope in terms of its functionality compared to building a full rich website, So you will reach certain walls with what your doing.

You can publish it to a folder on your hard drive to be able to view it locally as it would look online. BUT, you need a hosting server in order to publish it online.

XI needs a Database

Hi experts,
I am writing a diploma-thesis regarding load-testing on XI.
To my knowledge, XI will need a database for e.g. persistency management or archiving messages. Therefore XI won't work without a database...
I am looking for an official SAP document, which exactly says this...
I hope you can provide me such a document.

Suggested in-process database for use with LabVIEW?

I've been researching databases for a few days looking for something lightweight that I can use when developing applications. I saw the post by Anthony Lukindo on Expressionflow (http://expressionflow.com/2007/07/05/labview-based-utility-to-package-deploy-ms-sql-server-2005-expr...), but I'm not really looking to use an enterprise level db and it sure seems complicated. I looked at both MS SQL Server Compact 3.5 and SQLite, and they both look to be about what I'm looking for, but I haven't found any LV interfaces to these things. There appeared to be an aborted effort to get a SQLite interface made as an OpenG toolkit (SQLite database toolkit (Windows)), but it seems to have inexplicably vanished. I like the idea of SQLite better than the MS product because it seems to only include the things I'm looking for, and it's cross platform (and public domain) and I am thinking about starting to write an interface myself. I'd appreciate any comments on the topic.
I do have the LV DB toolkit, but I would rather not have all the overhead associated with speaking to an out-of-process db through external components (plus the headeaches associated with deploying the thing). I am pretty much a nubie in this area though, so maybe I can be convinced otherwise.

SQLite is propably the best performing free open source disk based database for a "single-threaded" applications or for reasonably sized multi-threaded applications that do not require row-level or table-level locking. So do not consider SQLite only as a development time alternative... it is a good alternative for many purposes.
You can connect to SQLite with a ODBC driver, I think, and do not need a native LabVIEW support for SQLite. Just google SQLite ODBC.I have not tested this, but if so, you can use any of the ODBC database toolkits for LabVIEW, even the National Instruments one
A different thing is that if you need a database for development purposes, should you actually set up one? I'm a friend of a software-as-a-service and currently use hosted mysql databases at Mosso. I use them for web development project but I see no reason to use them with LabVIEW as well, as long as your development computer is online. The good thing about hosted services is that they really are zero-configuration and zero-maintenance. When ever I've a problem or don't know something, I simply chat with the support person online Another good thing is that my hosted databases come with online administrative interface, phpMyAdmin, which simplyfies the database management, especially during the development phase when everything is not working as expected. Furthermore I can use MySQ Workbench to visualize the structure of my database for documentation purposes.
p.s. Mosso pricing starts from $100/month which may be over your budget, but the support is simply superb. For the price you get practically unlimited number of databases of you choice such as MySQL and MS SQL 2005, and practically unlimited number of hosted web sites running in a load balanced cloud with either Linux or Windows or mixed. Just to mention Google is useless (other end of the spectrum) for any website where page content changes from day to day or week to week. I had a client who sold holidays and day trips. Google was still indexing holidays and days trips even after they had been removed from the website as there is a time lag before Google drops current links it indexes....I don't know what that time lag is but is seems like weeks. Of course clients where getting a bit annoyed at being sent to pages which no longer existed. Also if you don't manage the site well and leave outdated material on the server well that will continue to be listed, for ever.
And of course there is going to be a time lag before Google indexes new content. Personally I hate Google search as it is way behind on up-to-date information.
Best to build your own search engine if you can then you can be assured ONLY information which is current is listed and new information is listed immediately. In most cases, where clients are willing to spend a bit of money, I use a database which automatically gets rid of any 'sell-by-date' article/entry.
For those clients which don't have the money - they get what they pay for.

In need of a flash/html5/quicktime audio/video media player for a website

Hello everybody,
I'm looking to get some kind of audio/video media player for a website. I would like it to be customizable, and also most likely read a play list from some kind of text file or xml file.
Normally, I would look for some kind of flash media player, but recently the site might be read from Apple mobile devices also, which of course not flash which might be a problem, so I'm also looking into other options such as some kind of QuickTime media player web application or even html5 player.
I do not personally know how to code in flash or HTML 5, so I would be willing to hire someone to help out.
Is HTML 5 for long enough that it would play on most current browsers? I would imagine that HTML 5 might not work on older browsers–is this correct?
I don't know of any QuickTime media players - any links to get me started?
Does anyone know some solutions to this flash / apple issue?

Looks like you are getting a very good lesson in why Flash is the best choice for a Web media player.... plentilful, easily customizable, and is a "right now" solution. Good luck on getting your viewers to download and install the codex need to play an Ogg video!
To add the extra accessabilty for the iPhone etc, use swfobject to provide an alternative video file type... the .mov
Here is an example of a Flash video that plays on the iPhone (well sort of..):

Using swfobject for Flash detection, if the Web browser has the Flash plugin, the Flash .flv video is displayed, if not, the QT, .mov version is displayed.

If the Web browser does not have the Flash plugin, alternate content is displayed, which in this case happens to be a QT player, which displays a .mov video. In this case it's just a single video. Now maybe you have a QT player with playlist... but let me tell you.. they are a lot rarer than Flash media players with playlists, xml playlist, etc.... Strong case for Flash here..
But your alt content could just as easily hold a QT media player (with playlist) if such an animal exists.
