I am just curious if anyone has worked with buildkit, it is a service to build webpages effortlessly online offered by hostgator and others. I ultimatly want to dress up our website but I am not sure of compatibility. You can view the site in question at [link removed by modertaor]   Thank you in advance for any information you can provide.

Just use the embed src code or the object code to insert a flash file below is an example

  • Add flash to my iweb website

i have a few waterfalls on my website at web.mac.com/gary.conrad. i want to make the water appear as if it were moving. i have seen this effect on other websites but dont know how it is done. is this something that can be added to an iweb website and if so how?

    Hi Gary,
When photographing it's easier to take a few pictures then photoshop an animated gif.
In Photoshop I isolated the h2o using the magic wand, cut it into a new layer. Duplicated the layer 4 times then applied the ocean ripple filter to the duplicated layers and smudged the top h20 area. This took about 10mins to acheive then animated every 3-4 frames or so to create a 15 frame animated gif loop. Place the gif in iWeb just like any other image. As mentioned you will have a better animation if you take a few pictures with a tripod then animate the gif.
Also a little landscape photography tip if you shoot RAW format and you have Photoshop CS2 or higher I strongly suggest shooting in HDR. Do a search for it your images will really pop afterwards if shot in RAW and edited in HDR.

  • How can I change the insert SWF File, I need to add a few things and make it better?

How can I change the insert SWF File, I need to add a few things and make it better? Is there an option inside of the dreamweaver menu that I am not looking at. It would make it easier on me if I changed some things around and didn't have to do it all myself each time I used it. Just incase you was needing to remember what swf flash was, It is not a swf video either.

If I understand correctly, Sonic Kaboom.swf needs to be edited in a separate Flash authoring program and then reinserted into your HTML document.
As Murray said, Flash is dead.  Nobody uses it anymore.   We use HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript animations which have universal support from Smartphones, Tablets and other web devices that can't support Flash.   Look at Edge Animate.

  • I need to add a skin to my .fla or .swf, how can I do this without converting?

I have created a project using motion and sound.  I need to add a skin to it which you use to be able to do when you published it.  Now it seems the only way to do it is by exporting my file into Media encoder then convert it to a MP4 ( there is no F4V or FLV in Media encoder, that I can see).  When I export this my sound quality is lost.  Then when I re-import into Flash to add the skin I lose the sound all together.  What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks

I'm guessing you're using the free version. I would first try to import a table from another PDF file. If that doesn't work I would try using the "add item" feature for either the "text" or "email" fields because those are formatted as 2 columns. You will just have to manipulate them how you want them.
    Good luck!

  • What software do I need to add TouchEvents to app?

I have just finished the development of version 1 of my application using Flash CS4. It's almost completely AS3 code with a SQL backend. For the next version  I want to look at adding TouchEvents for a mobile version of the application. But I'm confused as to what I need to add to my development software in order to develop apps that use touch.
Do I just need to install the Flash 10.1 player beta in order to get access to classes such as  "flash.events.TouchEvent" or do I need to upgrade to Flash CS5?

you need to upgrade is you want to use more than a press event.  otherwise, you can use a mousedown event for a finger press.

  • Do I need to add software protectin for moutain Lion 10.8.5

Do I need to add software protection like norton

    1. This is a comment on what you should and should not do to protect yourself from malicious software ("malware") that circulates on the Internet. It does not apply to software, such as keystroke loggers, that may be installed deliberately by an intruder who has hands-on access to the victim's computer, or who has been able to log in to it remotely. That threat is in a different category, and there's no easy way to defend against it. If you have reason to suspect that you're the target of such an attack, you need expert help.
If you find this comment too long or too technical, read only sections 5, 6, and 10.
OS X now implements three layers of built-in protection specifically against malware, not counting runtime protections such as execute disable, sandboxing, system library randomization, and address space layout randomization that may also guard against other kinds of exploits.
    2. All versions of OS X since 10.6.7 have been able to detect known Mac malware in downloaded files, and to block insecure web plugins. This feature is transparent to the user, but internally Apple calls it "XProtect." The malware recognition database is automatically checked for updates once a day; however, you shouldn't rely on it, because the attackers are always at least a day ahead of the defenders.
The following caveats apply to XProtect:
It can be bypassed by some third-party networking software, such as BitTorrent clients and Java applets.
It only applies to software downloaded from the network. Software installed from a CD or other media is not checked.
As new versions of OS X are released, it's not clear whether Apple will indefinitely continue to maintain the XProtect database of older versions such as 10.6. The security of obsolete system versions may eventually be degraded. Security updates to the code of obsolete systems will stop being released at some point, and that may leave them open to other kinds of attack besides malware.
       3. Starting with OS X 10.7.5, there has been a second layer of built-in malware protection, designated "Gatekeeper" by Apple. By default, applications and Installer packages downloaded from the network will only run if they're digitally signed by a developer with a certificate issued by Apple. Software certified in this way hasn't necessarily been tested by Apple, but you can be reasonably sure that it hasn't been modified by anyone other than the developer. His identity is known to Apple, so he could be held legally responsible if he distributed malware. That may not mean much if the developer lives in a country with a weak legal system (see below.)
Gatekeeper doesn't depend on a database of known malware. It has, however, the same limitations as XProtect, and in addition the following:
It can easily be disabled or overridden by the user.
A malware attacker could get control of a code-signing certificate under false pretenses, or could simply ignore the consequences of distributing codesigned malware.
An App Store developer could find a way to bypass Apple's oversight, or the oversight could fail due to human error.
For the reasons given above, App Store products, and other applications recognized by Gatekeeper as signed, are safer than others, but they can't be considered absolutely safe. "Sandboxed" applications may prompt for access to private data, such as your contacts, or for access to the network. Think before granting that access. Sandboxing security is based on user input. Never click through any request for authorization without thinking.
    4. Starting with OS X 10.8.3, a third layer of protection has been added: a "Malware Removal Tool" (MRT). MRT runs automatically in the background when you update the OS. It checks for, and removes, malware that may have evaded the other protections via a Java exploit (see below.) MRT also runs when you install or update the Apple-supplied Java runtime (but not the Oracle runtime.) Like XProtect, MRT is effective against known threats, but not against unknown ones. It notifies you if it finds malware, but otherwise there's no user interface to MRT.
    5. The built-in security features of OS X reduce the risk of malware attack, but they're not absolute protection. The first and best line of defense is always going to be your own intelligence. With the possible exception of Java exploits, all known malware circulating on the Internet that affects a fully-updated installation of OS X 10.6 or later takes the form of so-called "Trojan horses," which can only have an effect if the victim is duped into running them. The threat therefore amounts to a battle of wits between you and Internet criminals. If you're smarter than they think you are, you'll win. That means, in practice, that you always stay within a safe harbor of computing practices. How do you know what is safe?
Any website that prompts you to install a “codec,” “plug-in,” "player," "downloader," "extractor," or “certificate” that comes from that same site, or an unknown one, is unsafe.
A web operator who tells you that you have a “virus,” or that anything else is wrong with your computer, or that you have won a prize in a contest you never entered, is trying to commit a crime with you as the victim. (Some reputable websites did legitimately warn visitors who were infected with the "DNSChanger" malware. That exception to this rule no longer applies.)
Pirated copies or "cracks" of commercial software, no matter where they come from, are unsafe.
Software of any kind downloaded from a BitTorrent or from a Usenet binary newsgroup is unsafe.
Software that purports to help you do something that's illegal or that infringes copyright, such as saving streamed audio or video for reuse without permission, is unsafe. All YouTube "downloaders," for example, are outside the safe harbor, though not all are malware.
Software with a corporate brand, such as Adobe Flash Player, must be downloaded directly from the developer’s website. If it comes from any other source, it's unsafe. For instance, if a web page warns you that Flash is out of date, do not follow an offered link to an update. Go to the Adobe website to download it, if you need it at all.
There is an increasing tendency for rogue websites such as "Softonic" and "CNET Download" to distribute free applications that have been packaged in a superfluous installer that also installs malware or something else that you don't want. Never visit those sites, and get all freeware directly from the developer's own site whenever possible.
Software attached to email that you didn't request is unsafe, even if it comes (or seems to come) from someone you trust.
Software advertised by means of spam is unsafe.
Unknown "free" software that a stranger on the Internet is eager for you to download is unsafe.
Even signed applications, no matter what the source, should not be trusted if they do something unexpected, such as asking for permission to access your contacts, your location, or the Internet for no obvious reason.
"FREE WI-FI !!!" networks in public places are unsafe unless you can verify that the network is not a trap (which you probably can't.) Even then, do not download any software or transmit any private information while connected to such a network, regardless of where it seems to come from or go to.
I don't say that leaving the safe harbor just once will inevitably result in disaster, but making a habit of it will weaken your defenses against malware attack. Doing any of the things alluded to above should make you uncomfortable.
       6. Java on the Web (not to be confused with JavaScript, to which it's not related, despite the similarity of the names) is a weak point in the security of any system. Java is, among other things, a platform for running complex applications in a web page, on the client. That was always a bad idea, and Java's developers have proven themselves incapable of implementing it without also creating a portal for malware to enter. Past Java exploits are the closest thing there has ever been to a Windows-style virus affecting OS X. Merely loading a page with malicious Java content could be harmful.
Fortunately, client-side Java on the Web is obsolete and mostly extinct. Only a few outmoded sites still use it. Try to hasten the process of extinction by avoiding those sites, if you have a choice. Forget about playing games or other non-essential uses of Java.
Java is not included in OS X 10.7 and later. Discrete Java installers are distributed by Apple and by Oracle (the developer of Java.) Don't use either one unless you need it. Most people don't. If Java is installed, disable it — not JavaScript — in your browsers.
Regardless of version, experience has shown that Java on the Web can't be trusted. If you must use a Java applet for a task on a specific site, enable Java only for that site in Safari. Never enable Java for a public website that carries third-party advertising. Use it only on well-known, login-protected, secure websites without ads. In Safari 6 or later, you'll see a lock icon in the address bar with the abbreviation "https" when visiting a secure site.
Stay within the safe harbor, and you’ll be as safe from malware as you can practically be. The rest of this comment concerns what you should not do to protect yourself.
    7. Never install any commercial "anti-virus" or "Internet security" products for the Mac, as they all do more harm than good, if they do any good at all. If you need to be able to detect Windows malware in your files, use one of the free security apps in the Mac App Store — nothing else.
Why shouldn't you use commercial "anti-virus" products?
To recognize malware, the software depends on a database of known threats, which is always at least a day out of date. New threats are emerging on a daily basis. Research has shown that most successful attacks are "zero-day" — that is, previously unknown. Recognition-based malware scanners do not defend against such attacks.
Their design is predicated on the nonexistent threat that malware may be injected at any time, anywhere in the file system. Malware is downloaded from the network; it doesn't materialize from nowhere.
In order to meet that nonexistent threat, the software modifies or duplicates low-level functions of the operating system, which is a waste of resources and a common cause of instability, bugs, and poor performance.
By modifying the operating system, the software itself may create weaknesses that could be exploited by malware attackers.
    8. An anti-malware product from the App Store, such as "ClamXav," has the same drawback as the commercial suites of being always out of date, but it does not inject code into the operating system. That doesn't mean it's entirely harmless. It may report email messages that have "phishing" links in the body, or Windows malware in attachments, as infected files, and offer to delete or move them. Doing so will corrupt the Mail database. The messages should be deleted from within the Mail application.
An anti-virus app is not needed, and should not be relied upon, for protection against OS X malware. It's useful only for detecting Windows malware, and even for that use it's not completely effective. Windows malware can't harm you directly (unless, of course, you use Windows.) Just don't pass it on to anyone else.
A Windows malware attachment in email is usually easy to recognize. The file name will often be targeted at people who aren't very bright; for example:
    ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!!!!!!!H0TBABEZ4U!!!!!!!.AVI♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.exe
Anti-virus software may be able to tell you which particular trojan it is, but do you really care? In practice, there's seldom a reason to use the software unless an institutional policy requires it. Windows malware is so widespread that you should assume it's in every unknown email attachment until proven otherwise.
The ClamXav developer won't try to "upsell" you to a paid version of the product. Other developers may do that. Don't be upsold. For one thing, you should not pay to protect Windows users from the consequences of their choice of computing platform. For another, a paid upgrade from a free app will probably have all the disadvantages mentioned in section 7.
    9. It seems to be a common belief that the built-in Application Firewall acts as a barrier to infection, or prevents malware from functioning. It does neither. It blocks inbound connections to certain network services you're running, such as file sharing. It's disabled by default and you should leave it that way if you're behind a router on a private home or office network. Activate it only when you're on an untrusted network, for instance a public Wi-Fi hotspot, where you don't want to provide services. Disable any services you don't use in the Sharing preference pane. All are disabled by default.
    10. As a Mac user you don't have to live in fear that your computer may be infected every time you install software, read email, or visit a web page. But neither should you assume that you will always be safe from exploitation, no matter what you do. The greatest harm done by security software is precisely its selling point: it makes people feel safe. They may then feel safe enough to take risks from which the software doesn't protect them. "Hmmmm, this torrent is a crack of that new game I want. I think I'll download it. It could be a trojan, but the antivirus will warn me if it is." Then they wonder why their Mac is so slow all of a sudden. It's slow because it's running flat out mining bitcoins for a hacker who has already sold their credit card number and banking passwords to a criminal gang. Maybe a week later the antivirus does warn them, but what good does that do?
Nothing can lessen the need for safe computing practices.

  • Flex Builder 3.3 need to add AIR 2.0 SDK

I have an AIR app developed using Flex SDK 3.3 and need to add new functionality contained in AIR 2.0 SDK - e.g. openWithDefaultApplication().
How can I add the updated AIR SDK to give me access to this new method ?

This is pretty easy, but not too intuitive.  You will first need to download the version of the SDK that includes the version of AIR that you wish to use.  Then following these instructions to get it to work : http://quetwo.com/2008/10/26/flash-player-10-and-flex/    (those instructions were written to get a specific feature working in an older version of Flash Player, but you should get the basics from it).
Essentially, you extract the SDK version into your SDKs folder in your copy of Flash Builder/Flex Builder.  Then you tell Flash Builder about the new SDK that you have available.

  • Help needed with creating Flash game

    Hello,
I need to create Flash educational/quiz game for one of my clients. It would be based on concept like these ones for example:
    Example 1
    http://go.ucsusa.org/game/
    Example 2
    http://www.zdravlje.hr/igre/stop-aids/
Note: when you open this link you will see two text boxs which you first must fill. On the left side text box "Upišite ime" means "Type your name" and right one "Upišite godinu svog rođenja" means "Year of birth"
What is interesting about this type of games is that they are classic games (for example game Labirint where you have to find way out), but during play pop-up questions starts to appear to test end user knowledge abot certain topic (in example 2 topic is about AIDS/HIV). In case of my client, topic is about Eco environment.
Here is where my trouble starts;) : I found many useful free tutorials how to create simple flash game (most interesting example I found is this one http://www.strille.net/tutorials/snake/index.php)  BUT I dont know how make that system of popup questions appear during game similar to Example 1 and Example 2?
Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance for promt reply.
    Greetings,
    Adnan

Update: I have just read all instructions in Snake tutorial which helped be better realize how Snake game works.
    a) This is what I plan to realize for my client:
    1. Snake game which end users will play and during play pop-up/quiz quesions will appear on topic Eco environment;
    2. For example when end user earns 50 points he must answer some of the random questions like "Q:How many ton of waste are produced by US livestock each year" with three answers A1: "1 milion" A2: "1 bilion" A3: "2 bilion" and after user scores 100 points then another question pops up and so on. This is all true if all answers are correct but in case he answer some question wrong than game can start from begining or another solution could be he looses -50 or -100 points.
    3. At the end, user which gains most points wins.
    b) This is what I have done till now:
I have this file http://www.strille.net/tutorials/snake/snakeGameWithHighscore.zip which I partly understand how it works with my Flash knowladge.

Not sure how to solve this issue?

  • Need to add alphabet coordinates in xml file for typewriter file

I have a flash typewriter file which displays text that is
preloaded inside the flash file. It has an animated pencil that
"draws" out each character. It gets it's letter coordinates from an
xml file and I would like to add a few more symbols so it would
draw them out. How do I get started on figuring this out. The
coordinates in the xml file must have been generated by some kind
of software because I can't imagine the author of this file hand
wrote each one. I tried to contact the author but I think they're
    too busy or not interested.
    thanks

    Hi Frantzy,
The link does not give enough explanation. What I am assuming is if you have xml string in one field then if you need to add new line after each tag then you can follow that.
If you want a udf where you want to insert a new line use this udf:
Create a Value UDF with one input argument 'a' and name the udf as addnewline. Then add this code:
    Imports: java.*;
    String lines;
    lines = "";
    lines = lines.concat(a + '\n' );
    return lines;
Then where ever you want a new line just add this udf in your mapping. If you want a new line for 10 fields then you can put in all the 10 fields.
    Example:
Source field --> logic --> udf (addnewline) --> target.
So after logic if you have the value as 123 then in the target you will see 123 followed by a carriage return.

  • I was informed via Secunia that I needed to update Flash Player and then was given link to do so.

I was informed via Secunia that I needed to update Flash player and then downloaded the new version.  After going into Adobe to see if I was installed correctly I found that the program was installed and I had the new version 10.0.45.2.   When I try to play a game that I have been playing for months, I get the message that I need Flash Player version 8 or above.   What am I doing wrong and what do I need to do now?

What confuses me is that most of not all of the dates say 1/26/10.  Doesn't give a date of yesterday when I did Flash Player for Firefox.  Is that normal?
Bottom line -- I can now do the games in Firefox that I haven't been able to play since I installed Firefox.  Wouldn't let me play some other video files as well.
I am still unable to do slow scrolling in e-mail or other webpages when I make the page full screen.  that is only in Comcast and not AOL.  It must be a Comcast problem so will have to get in touch with them.
Let me know if all my files in Flash are okay.

  • Do I need to add Base Station MAC address to list?

Hi, If I choose to use MAC address filtering on my Airport Extreme Time Capsule, do I need to add the wireless MAC address of the Base Station to the list of allowed MAC addresses???  I'd feel real bad if I set up a list, didn't include the base station's MAC address and then could never get in to the network again because I, in effect, locked myself out???  I doubt that address needs to be included but I would like some feedback on that.
Second, does the one MAC address filter list apply to the Guest Network as well if I should choose to turn it on???  If that was the case, I would just turn off MAC address filtering why guests were present.
    thanks..  bob

If I choose to use MAC address filtering on my Airport Extreme Time Capsule, do I need to add the wireless MAC address of the Base Station to the list of allowed MAC addresses???
No. Timed Access would be for wireless devices....computers, mobile devices, printer, etc., that are connecting to the Time Capsule. The Time Capsule does not connect to itself in this regard.
I'd feel real bad if I set up a list, didn't include the base station's MAC address and then could never get in to the network again because I, in effect, locked myself out???
Sometimes, users lock themselves out by mistake by entering incorrect times for devices to connect, and they often forget that they can connect to the base station using an Ethernet connection and get back in that way.....since Timed Access only applies to devices that connect using wireless.
does the one MAC address filter list apply to the Guest Network as well if I should choose to turn it on???
    Yes
