I need to import a word doc into the film script format

I have a script saved in a word doc and i want edit it on adobe story. Ho would i do that?

Hi,
in Story Projects view, you can click the 'Import' button and choose the word document and then choose Film/TV template as appropriate to import. If your word document has been properly formatted (e..g, Scene Heading is of the format INT. SET NAME etc.), Adobe Story would be able to parse the elements correctly and import them without issues.
Thanks

  • Importing multiple Word docs into InDesign

    Hi there
Is it possible to import multiple Word documents into a single InDesign text frame all at once?
I have 20 files that all flow sequentially so was wondering if -- by selecting them all in Place window -- they would all be brought in one after the other, without each one creating its own new text frame.
    Any help gratefully received.
    Thanks
    Dan

I use the script, below, for that. It's a bit scruffy, it should be tarted up. But it works fine. When you start it you type a path/file mask, using the formats illustrated in the dialog.
It sets a few import preferences, these are the only ones I'm interested in. But it'll pick up the other options from their current settings.

  • Need help importing large word document into CS2

I am using ID CS2. I am putting together a document that has 120 pages that's 11.625 wide by 21.25 tall (newspaper) and will be in 8 columns. I want to place a text document using the autoflow method. My problem is, there are so many words, characters, etc. that my ID freezes up. I have changed the original document to a Word Doc, Excel file and a text document. Changing the type document seemed to make a difference. What is the best way to place the text and format it?

Technically, you don't need to draw the text box first. If you already have your margins and columns correct (which I assume you have set up on the master so it automatically applies to all pages), ID will create the textbox when you autoflow (shift click or alt click with a loaded curser). Just click with your loaded curser in the top left of the first column.  Another way to do this is to create an 8 column text box on your master and click over it on the actual page.  The advantage to this is that you don't have 8 text boxes across your page, but one single text box divided into eight columns.  There are pros and cons to both work flows, though it appears that the new CS5 has more pros to the single text box with columns than the eight text boxes.
You should only remove the styles and formatting if you want all the formatting stripped from the file as you place it. Otherwise, you can actually map the styles in the placed document to the ones in the ID file from that dialog box, and that might save you a lot of formatting time with such a large document--assuming that the file you are placing is correctly styled and formatted (which is not always the case).
Since I'm now not sure what you meant by ID "freezing" in your original post--if ID actually crashes (closes itself with or without an error message) when you try this import, you might try opening the final text doc and breaking it up into smaller segments to place. However, there should be no problem placing a text document of that length into ID. If ID is just pausing for a while, do give it time to actually process all those pages.

  • Problems importing a Word doc into Robohelp HTML

    I have a 116-page Word document with 13 chapters. When I
import this document into Robohelp HTML as a winhelp output file,
only two topics are created, rather than 13. On the Conversion
Options window, I select to have new topics created by Word style
"Heading 1" which are my chapter titles. Why doesn't Robohelp
create the topics, and what should I change to faciliate that?
Also, why don't my numbered lists from Word stay numbered in
Robohelp? Is there a way to automate numbered lists?

    Thanks for your reply.
When I insert .gif files JDeveloper ends with a message saying "Process exited with exit code 0". I then go and check in the database and I find the image added to the table.
With a word doc, JDeveloper does not give that message. No message at all regarding what the status of the process is. And the document is not added to the database. No error messages too. Could this be an issue with Oracle?

  • How to import MS Word docs into a Wiki (with embedded images

What is the best way to import a lot of large MS Word docs (50+ pages) with images into a Wiki-Folder?
I know that you can copy&paste the text and still preserve the formatting, but i'd still have to import the images manually.
Is there something planned like Word2MediaWikiPlus?

I don't understand. If we use Webdav, we can access and share Office-documents, but we want to create a Wiki-structure with links etc.

  • How do I import a word doc into address book

I have word doc with address labels, I want to import that into address book, how would I do that? If word can't do that I can also open it in Pages. Thank you.

The way to import datas in AddressBook is not what this forum is dedicated to.
    Please go to
    MacOS X 10.5 > Mail and AddressBook
    or
    MacOS X 10.4 > Mail and AddressBook
A quick search in AddressBook Help with the wonderful keyword "Import" teach us that AddressBook is able to import from:
    vCard ;
    format LDIF ;
    TAB delimited file ;
    CSV (comma-separated values)file.
So, it appears that the first thing to do would be to save your Word document as a TAB delimited file or as a CSV one.

  • Nd suggestion for importing Word doc into Pages template....

I have a rather lengthy Word file that I want to import into Pages using one of its templates (Travel Journal). Is there a way to import the Word file directly into this template?
I know you can import a Word doc into Pages but once you do that, you have to do the designing from scratch (or at least that what it looks like you have to do).
I like the Travel Journal template and wanted to use that for my Word doc. Any suggestions for getting my Word doc into this template, without having to cut and paste each section?
I like the template because of the varied page layout options and I don't want to have to recreate from scratch!
    Help!

    Hello Debbie,
as I know there is no way to get what you want. I think you have to load the Word document into Pages and than you have to copy and paste all the text and media objects into the Pages template.

  • Insert a PDF ro Word doc into an Excel sheet

I have to track parts.  I created a spreadsheet to do this.  We are trying to as paparless as possible is my office.  I need to insert a PDF copy or the actual Word doc into the spreadsheet so my techs can access it and indicate that the
parts have arrived.  This spreadsheet is on a SharePoint site and so are the PDF or Word copies of the documents that the techs need.  Inserting a hyperlink will pull the PDF doc up in another web tab which is what I don't want.
I need to be able to pull the docs up and modify them and save them back to the SharePoint file. Help!  THANKS!!!!

Have you considered using a SharePoint list instead of an excel spreadsheet? You can then attach one or many documents to each row in the list.

  • Importing WORD doc into FM12

When importing a WORD doc with multichapters into FM12,  do I need to seperate the WORD doc according to the chapters first then do the importing?

    I would say it depends:
If your word document satisfies any or all of these conditions:
    1. It is short
    2. It utilizes few fonts
    3. It does not contain graphics with text flowing around them
    4. It has a few basic styles
    5. It is "clean": no spurious font usage, no "bleeding italic"
then by all means, open it in FM
Otherwise, you might want to follow the process below. In my case, I have a novel I wrote in Word. It's 147,000 words long, uses several fonts and images. I opened the file into FM and it was not able to process it appropriately. Luckily, no harm was done but I'd recommend you do backup your word file first.
    Here is what I did:
    1. I created an FM template from scratch.
    2. I used my template to import the first chapter only. In so doing, I refined the various tags ( I am assuming you are importing you word document as an unstructured framemaker doc) and created a few character tags such as "emphasis" for fragments which are emphasized and "thought" for fragments of text representing thoughts in characters' heads. These character tags are important for the editing process because by changing say the color or the size of the font for these characters tag, I can quickly highlight them and verify them. In the end, there was no portion of my text that did not have an explicitly assigned character tag, which is truly important for the quality of the text.
    3. I ran a find on "character override". Since my novel was being edited by two editors, there were quite a few overridden punctuation utilizing the wrong font, or face or size.
    4. I would then refresh the book to ensure the chapter numbering and page numbering was working correctly.
    5. Once I was satisfied with a chapter, I would import the tags back into the template and move on to the next.
I am skipping the work I did on the preamble (first and second titles, copyright notice, acknowledgment, dedication, table of content, maps) and postamble (glossary and "about the author") but the process was the same.
This process took me about two days to complete. In the end, I ended up with the following
    1. A robust template I can use for the successive books I am publishing
    2. A cleaner text, easier to typeset and check
    3. A greater understanding of the way FM works.
    Hope this helps

  • Is it possible to import fast a word.doc into Indesign

    Hallo,
I am producing department documents. Now I have some problems because I created them in word from microsoft.
Is it possible to import the word documents into the indesign format in an easy way?
It should be time safing and effective.
I would be glad for some answers!
    best wishes

The way you move word dodument s into InDesign is by using File > Place..., selecting the word file in the dialog, chooing import options if you like, and clicking the cursor in the InDesign document. How you've set upt he ID file will have a lot to so with wher you should click and whether or not you should be also pressing the Shift key to autoflow.
It's quite clear you have no idea how InDesign works, so before you get into trouble you should look around for some books or tutorials, and try reading the help files. One of the best books out there for new users is Sandee Cohen's Visual QuickStart Guide to InDesign.
