  • Need help Installing Reader 10.1.2 on new MacBook Pro w/Lion

    Hi,
I have a new 13" MacBook Pro with Lion.  I'm trying to install Reader 10.1.2 and it stalls while "Running Package Scripts".  Any thoughts?
FYI - I don't know if this is relevant.  I had a PowerPC and Apple moved my data from my old computer.  I just realized that they moved my very old CS2 which I know won't work on my new Mac.  I don't know if that might be causing a conflict.  However, I don't know how to uninstall it.
Thanks so much for any help!!!
    Best,
    Kim

    Hi Sabian,
So I followed your instructions.  Below is the log.  As you can see, when I typed the last command, I had permission denied.
I think it says it's a powerbook g4 because that was my old computer and the Apple store transferred my files.  I have a new MacBook Pro...

  • Need to Install iMovie06 from my old install disc to computer w/iMovie08

I have macbook pro that came with iMovie 08 installed. I need to open and edit some old iMovies I made with iMovie 06. I have my old install discs for iLife 06. If I go through a custom install and only select to install iMovie 06, will this overwrite my iMovie 08? I'd like to keep both versions on my computer to work separately on different movies (not to mix - keep 06 movies in 06 and 08 movies in 08). How can I install iMovie 06 and keep my iMovie 08?

  • Install and use Adobe Digital Editions on a computer without internet access ?

    Hello,
I have a pair of PCs, one of them, with Windows Vista, has never been connected to the internet since many years. It is used for word processing mostly. I didn't even bother to plug an ethernet cable inside or think about a Wifi USB key, in a way it's better that way, no useless distractions and no security threats.
I want to use that offline PC for work, and it would require to use Adobe Digital Editions on that machine. I downloaded the offline standalone installer from adobe.com without problems, however, apparently, Adobe only accepts us to use the program after we have activated it through internet access.
Does that mean there is simply no way out, and I can't use Digital Editions on my offline computer ?
Would you perhaps know a solution to this issue ?
Thank you VERY MUCH if you can help !
    Kind regards

I don't think there is a way out.
You could use it for non-DRM books without authorizing, but there are much better options (such as the free Calibre) for that anyway. http://calibre-ebook.com/
If you make a temporary internet connection, then once authorized, you should not need internet access to read books you have got elsewhere and copied to it.

  • What do I need to install 2nd drive on old Sawtooth?

Hope its OK to ask about legacy computers on this board!
I have a powermac Sawtooth (450 ghz AGP) running OS9.2 - and was recently given some graphics programs that run on os 10.4 (Tiger)
I know its possible to install Tiger on the computer but would rather install a second internal HD and leave the original drive intact.
Since the capacity on the current HD is pitiful, was thinking I would also prefer for the second drive to have greater storage capacity (500 GB+) but my research indicates that as it is, this computer does not recognize HD's over something like 160 GB.
My QUESTION is: what are all the things I would I need to buy to install a bigger-than-160 GB HD on this computer? Except for adding more memory, I never upgraded it, all the expansion slots and bays are available.
    Thanks!

    Virtually Mandatory!
And remember, a practical old time doctor starts by feeling his patient's purse!
    You can: add a 120 GB HD; add two 120GB HDs, cloning your present drive to one of the new HDs; substitute 160GB (or larger) HDs for the 120GB HDs (remembering that your Sawtooth will read the first 128 GBs of the HDs;
Or: add an ACARD 6280 controller card that will format larger (ATA) HDs to read like SCSI drives, but will let your Sawtooth handle larger than 128GB size HDs. The ACARD is a good quality card, popular in G3 days, is compatible with your current HD(s), will expand capacity to as many as 4 of your 500GB HDs, and should be available at a very reasonable price on eBay. I don't know if it would affect an ability to clone back and forth from native to ACARD controller HDs, or how compatible it might be with external HDs or Target Drive Mode.
Or: you could purchase a 2002 Quicksilver (disclosure - my favourite) that would handle larger the HDs natively and probably do a few other things that later G4s do that Sawtooths (Sawteeth-?) don't.
Upgrading older Macs is great fun, but remember 'free' is often expensive so keep a firm hold on your wallet.
    Enjoy... jws

  • Need help installing reader

op is windowsxpsp3. tried to download reader 10x. what a disaster. followed the troubleshooting instructions for windows to no avail. I don't get error codes, the download just stops. I disabled firewall and allowed pop ups. the messages I get say corrupt content from reliable source or the following files need to be updated by this set up. close these and click retry. the file it says is open is Internet explorer. I closed and clicked retry but nothing. now I can't read any pdf  so I removed  via control panel and tried to install an earlier version of reader. well that didn't work either. now I'm totally lost

made another attempt. this time saved file to cd and then tried to install.same thing. get a message that says following files need to be updated by this set up[Internet explorer] close these and click retry. I wasn't on the Internet but got the message anyway.

  • Need to install FCP 5 on old computer - lost password

    Hello all.
I want to install an old copy of FCP Studio 5 I have on an older Mac Mini (so my 10 year old daughter can learn the basics).
I have no idea where the serial number is - does anyone know a workaround so that I can install without one - or get a replacement?
    Thanks
    Adrian S

There is no workaround...no legal ones anyway, and we cannot talk about those on the official Apple site.  You can try to call Apple and see if they have anything for you...which would really only work if you registered your copy. But even then...FCP 5...that's ancient in Apple years. They stop support once the new version is announced!
Serial number is on the paperwork that came with the software...locate that, and you'll have it.

  • Need help installing Reader 11

I have Acrobat XI installed on my MacBook.  I create a lot of forms but I test them in Reader.  I tried to upgrade my Reader 9 to Reader 11 and was able to download it, but when I tried to install it gave me an error (there is already a higher version on your computer) and stopped the install.  Any help you can give me would be appreciated.

I've moved your posting to the Adobe Reader forum (for desktop/laptop computers).

  • Installed WD My Book 1TB drive software, it killed my internet access

MacBook Pro 15" 2.4 GHz with Leopard 10.5.1.
I installed the "My Book RAID Manager" software included with the WD My Book Premium Edition II 1 TB dual drive system.
Upon reboot, I can connect to my wireless router, but I can access no internet sites. This worked fine before.
I can connect via afp:// to another computer on my network, though.
when i opened terminal, i was getting the message that the following file was corrupt:
    /var/db/dyld/dyldshared_cacheppc
i did some research and was able to to fix that with the command updatedyld_sharedcache -force, but my internet is not working.
any ideas how to fix this?

Would you "Solve" this question please ?

  • Conflict between Reader 9 and (Old!) Acrobat 6.0.6 Standard?

I have an old XP SP3 computer that came with Acrobat 6 Standard, which I want to keep for printing documents to PDF.  (I'm not willing to purchase a new version of Acrobat for this old machine.)  It no longer works, however, as an add-on to Internet Explorer 8, at least not with my latest security software, and it's probably not secure online anyhow.  Therefore I want to install the latest version of Acrobat Reader on the same machine.  I tried this with Adobe Reader 9, but it appeared to damage some part of Acrobat 6, resulting in error messages whenever I started the latter; so I uninstalled Reader 9 and re-installed/updated Acrobat 6, which is now working again,  Question:
Is there a way to install some reasonably current (and secure) version of Acrobat Reader without harming my installation of Acrobat 6?  Thanks in advance for any suggestions. -- JClarkW

OK, here's where I am now.  Where did I go wrong?
    Before installing Reader:
In Acrobat 6.0.6, turned off all Internet, Web, and Update preferences.
In Internet Explorer 8, disabled all four Adobe add-ons (Adobe PDF, AcroIEToolbarHelper Class, another Adobe PDF, and AcroIEHlprObjClass, all dated from 2003).
In MSConfig, found no startup objects to uncheck except AcroTray.exe, which I left alone as instructed.
Installed Adobe Reader 8.2.0 (which is apparently still supported) and allowed it to update to the current version, 8.2.5:
Only prefernence change in reader was to use only certified plug-ins.  In particular, "Display PDF in browser" is still checked.
Made sure that Reader 8 was the default program for PDFs, and indeed, Reader 8 opens whenever I double-click a PDF.
In Internet Explorer 8, re-enabled the four Adobe add-ons listed above.  NOTE that they all still have the 2003 date!
    Results:
Acrobat 6 still works fine this time around, in that I can start it without errors, open PDF files in it, and print to it successfully from, say, MSWord.  Threfore, I did not go back and re-check MSConfig.
In Internet Explorer 8, however, double-clicking a link to a PDF does NOT open the PDF in the browser (or elsewhere).  Instead it offers me the usual Microsoft options of Run or Save.  Choosing Run opens Reader 8 in a new window.  Evidently the browser add-on is not working properly.  Although this is workable, it is not ideal.
Any ideas how to update the browser add-ons to work as they should? -- JClarkW

  • Installing reader 7 in a cd

Hello, we need to install reader 7 in a cd so that an aplication made with director opens a pdf from de cd with the reader version installed in that cd...
    Is this possible?
    Thanks in advance...

Boot Camp Assistant is a very crippled partition tool that also isn't needed.
Just pull your RAID and boot from Windows 7 DVD.
When done with updates and all, pop the RAID back in.
AppleHFS driver in Windows Boot Camp 3.x that Apple Setup adds can't see or read your RAID and is known to be problematic at times.
You may have to set the default boot OS from Windows control panel (way way too many things are called "Boot Camp" that it gets confusing or seems like it, why not Windows Startup Disk? or "OS Manager" instead?).
    You'll be fine.
