I need to upgrade from 10.5.8 to 10.6.6 before I can download Mountain Lion. Where do I find this download?

I need to upgrade from 10.5.8 to 10.6.6 before I can download MOUNTAIN LION OSX. I am having trouble finding this download for 10.6.6.

10.7/10.8 will NOT run your older PPC or most Intel software, you going to have to spend money on a older machine that might not be worth it.
http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
Also 10.7/10.8 is slower and has more memory needs you machine might not be able to handle (4GB+) also your older CPU and graphics card.
If you want fast, OS X 10.6.8 is simply the fastest with a fresh install, even faster than 10.5. AND it runs your older software, no need to purchase new ones.
Run 10.6 until the wheels fall off that machine before you inflicted yourself with a backwards crap of the Lions.

do i have to buy and install snow leopard before mountain lion? helllllpppppp

Yes, you need to purchase Snow Leopard, from the Apple online store - http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard - and the, from the Mac App Store, purchase Mountain Lion.
Make sure that your MacBook Pro is compatible with Mountain Lion -
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
    - and be aware that if you have any remaining PPC-only apps on your machine that they will not run under Mountain Lion - see http://roaringapps.com/.
    Good luck,

  • I recently purchased an older model computer with Microsoft Me from 2000. It doesn't have a web browser and I would like to download Firefox. Where do I find the download compatible with Windows Me and how do I download it?

I have looked in your web site product downloads and I am unable to find a web browser download that is compatible with Windows Me from 2000. What am I missing? Is there a web browser download that is even compatible? It is just a second computer for my grandsons to use and do homework on, but I am unable to get up the internet.

Firefox 2.0.0.20 is the last ever version of Firefox for Win98 / SE / ME.
    Get it from here:

  • Can't download Mountain Lion OS X from App Store Canada

Wanting to upgrade from my stale Snow Leopard OS X 10.6.8, I purchased Mountain Lion online and received the email redeption code redeemed the purchase in Mac App Store - and nothing happened. No download, no resume download option, NOTHING.
What is wrong? What should I do? I need to get rid of Snow Leopard and upgrade to get the best out of my Mac, but this is getting so frustrating! First, I couldn't upgrade to Mavericks OS X, so I followed community advice and purchased Mountain Lion OS X so that the upgrade would be more efficient (aka possible)...
    Please help!

I'm in the process of doing the same thing.  You apparently have to purchase it via Apple.com, not the App Store.  But be warned, it will take many days for them to send you the download link and password.  It's been over 5 business days for me so far and I've escalated as I have to get this stuff ASAP for a particular software package I'm required to use for a project.  Waiting a week is killing me.
Idiotic process they have for old version of OS X.  Mavericks is available in the App Store, why not older OSX versions?
Here's the link.  Don't believe what they tell you in your order confirmation on dates.

The first step in Upgrading... is to Snow Leopard = OS X 10.6.x
It is Not available as a download... It is a Paid Upgrade.
    Do this first...
Check that your Mac meets the System Requirements for Snow Leopard...
    Snow Leopard Tech Specs

If so... Purchase a Snow Leopard Install Disc...

After the Successful Install, run Software Update to get the latest updates for Snow Leopard.
Be sure to make a Backup of your Current System Before Upgrading...
    Next...
    Upgrade to Mountain Lion
With Regard to ML...  Check here for compatibility of 3rd party Software you may be using... Also note that Rosetta is no longer supported in Lion and Mountain Lion...

Prior to upgrading to Maverick, you must FIRST make sure your iMac meets all of its system requirements.

Here is the message that appears:  It's not a screen shot, but this is the entire page as it comes up:
To view the full contents of this document, you need a later version of the PDF viewer. You can upgrade
to the latest version of Adobe Reader from www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

I have lost nearly all my photos and events.  I received a message effectively saying that I need to upgrade from an old base.  I think I may have tried to open an event that was stored in iPhoto Buddy a few days ago.  iPhoto Buddy is not supported in Lion.  How can I retrieve my phjotos?

    What version of iPhoto?
    Assuming 09 or later...
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • I need to upgrade from OS X 10.6.8 to 10.7.0. I have no idea if I need Snow Leopard or Mt. Lion.

I'm 77 yrs old and need some help, please. I'm running a MacBook 10.6.8 and need to upgrade to 10.7.0 to accomodate a new program I bought. Do I need Lion first, then Mac 10.7.0?  Thank you in advance to assisting me.
    ChasManley

See the following to get you going. Obviously, you can skip the Snow Leopard upgrade section since you already have it installed. You have the options of Lion or Mountain Lion depending on what is supported on your computer. If it supports Mountain Lion I suggest it rathen than Lion, but that's your option.
Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later

             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
