I purchased some films on my ipad and since syncing with my itunes, I have lost all my films, can anyone help?

For the charging via USB, a lot of computers don't provide enough power to their USB ports to charge an iPad at a sufficient rate (it may still be charging, especially if the iPad's is locked and the screen is off), the iPad's own wall charger is generally the best way to charge it.

Thanks Kurt! I had tried all that and had tried closing both programmes from the application monitor, but SyncServices Agent refused to close. I tried closing Launchd which is their mother application, but that just caused the screen go go blank. In the end the two programmes let themselves be closed next time I tried the installation process so all was well. Thanks for your help!

My iMac was returned to me following a repair by Apple - they did a clean wipe & reinstall.
I backed up all my photos beforehand (I was previously using LR4).
I just upgraded to LR5 and have imported all the photos. However, I appear to have lost all the work I did in LR4 - all my edits, and 'flagged' images etc. Is there any way of recovering this? Otherwise I've lost several weeks worth of work.

This means the files are not in the location that the catalog was expecting.
You need to EITHER mirror exactly the file structure of your old machine OR right click (cmd-click?) on your highest level folder within Lightroom and select "Update Folder Location". This should bring up a window that allows you to browse to the new location of your photos and select it. If there's not a high level folder that covers all your photos you'll need to do this one folder at a time.
Tutorials are a good idea if you're un-clear about anything but the Catalog is essentially "just" a database. It stores the locations of all of your files, the metadata associated with them and all the adjustments you've made.

It seems you missed a few things from my original post:
I do have an external backup and backup frequently, however Time Machine apparently hadn't been backing up my photos and some of my other files since April of 2011 without my knowledge. All of the issues started together in one moment- i.e. the photos went missing, the keyboard started acting strange, and while my documents file stayed intact and so did my itunes library, no files, including photos, could be seen under All My Files and the iphoto library reported 0 MB for its size.
My computer randomly got slightly better, in that it would start up and let me in, and I was able to migrate the computer over to the Macbook Air I bought as a temporary fix. Keyboard still wonky, many files missing, and the internal time machine showing no backups anymore. The "genius" said my photos and other files had simply disappeared, he couldn't explain it, and they were lost forever unless I took it somewhere to try and do a disk recovery. He couldn't explain what happened. They were able to get in this time, which they couldn't before, and run some diagnostics and plug in another keyboard. The diagnostics didn't show anything wrong with the hard drive or software, but I know that isn't true. I just want the last 8 months worth of photos!

TS4009 I need to get a message to Apple, iCloud...having so many problem with it. I just went in and deleted all of my iCloud emails, that just stay stuck there. What has happened now is that it was synced with Yahoo. I've lost all my yahoo mess. HELP!

I am so sorry that I ever signed up for iCloud. The only thing that ever worked is that I had two messages drop into iCloud when there was an open wifi connection. It is synced with Yahoo. It was taking up so much space as I had a lot of attachments, nothing sent, they just sat there, I had to cut and paste them into my Yahoo! account and send them.
Last nigth were were looking at the reason that my brand new Mac Air had ZERO memory. It was the iCloud messages that were stuck. I then went in and deleted everything. I have tried to turn iCloud off via a pull down menu. Did not work. I have now lost all of my sent and received messages in my Yahoo Account. My inbox is completely empty. I believe I still have sent messages though. These were messages that I had cut and pasted into Yahoo! to get them sent. Now my Yahoo! is wiped out.
I am a writer. I need those messages recovered. I am an end user. I need instructions in English on how to recover this. If there is anyone that can help me, I am desparate. I imagine Apple could retrieve them for me though there is no where to contact them.

I was just at the Genius Bar in Chicago and they said, don't worry about it. It just floats out there, however, I can not recover my messages on a flash drive. I need to go back to my old computer which I don't have with me. My messages were in folders for a lawsuit. It is going to take an incredible amount of work for me to, you have no Idea. Apple has a reptutaion of maintaining a high level of privacy and security. This means that accounts are not meant to be shared, though they can be, and defintitely not merged.
That does not come without a price however.
I completely understand that the kids would want their own profiles when playing games, but app developers are required to follow apple's protocols in order to distribute their apps via apples app store and be used on their products.
I'm going to go out on limb here and say the apple has chosen to put the job of parenting in the hands of parents.
What I do know is that as the kids get older and everybody gets their own devices and accounts, it will be a lot easier and lot less confusing when everyone has their own apple id. (especially when they start having their own contacts, calendar events and everyone in the home is syncing to icloud)

i download the sofware update on to my pc and the next thing i know all my contacts are gone, the only things that have come up on the icloud CONTACTS app is the service call numbers thats it, i have no idea what to do.. i have itunes on my desktop and i looked for them there but i still cant find them, i dont have outlook i have VISTA so its hard for me to look for my contacts.

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

Tried following up with the developer's instruction. Didn't help. Developer suggested contacting Apple if their instruction didn't work. Tried the various methods recommended on the Apple site. Same result.

Telling is that you tried most of the things on the net doesn't tell us exactly what you did try, so we are all still left to guess .....
Sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>Store>Sign in and then try to update again
If that doesnt work - go to Settings>General>Date and Time - set the date ahead by a few months. Try to update again. If you get an error message of any kind - go back and change the date and time to automatic again. Then try again.
If that doesn't work, restart your router and reboot the iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
