I put my sons Ipod touch on Mobile Me and now its missing. I can not sign on to locate it now. How can I find it? Could you locate it?
I need help locating my sone IPOD Touch, It was on MolieMe but I can't find it. I don't know what too do. I think I had a different apply id but not sure. It migh have been under my daughters name Toni Beckman. PLEASE HELP ME
What happens when you sign into the me.com site and try to find the iPod when signed into the possible accounts that could have been used?
If wifi is off, the iPod is not with range of a unsecured wifi spot or a secured one that will automatically connect, or somebody has turned off wifi or FindMyiPhone on the iPod or has restored the iPod, it will not show up in me.com.

I have an ipod touch 4th generation 8gb and it comes on but does not go past the apple logo. What do I need to do?
This problem happened to me a month ago. The way I used to fix it:
1. Go it DFU Mode. For going into that, check this page.
2. Connect your iPod to your PC which has iTunes and iTunes will detect your iPod in recovery mode.
3. Press Shift + Restore if you have the .ipsw firmware file downloaded on your windows PC or just click Restore and follow the instructions to download the firmware file.
4. Wait and finally you're done! -

I have an iPod Touch 3rd generation (Model A1318). For the last several months I keep trying to update to iOs 5 and it gets stuck during the backup phase and an error message pops up:
As half of my songs are not iTunes purchases, therefor not on the cloud, I do not want to start from scratch and have everything deleted. Also, Apple does not allow you to extract songs back off the pod easily to backup, so it would present a serious hassle reuploading hundreds of songs from CDS etc. Can anyone help explain this message? Has anyone hit continue with the update occurring smoothly without anything being erased? Any guidance much appreciated. I tried several times disabling my anti virus software during the process like others have said on the boards and in the Apple store but the same message and outcome. For reference, I'm using Windows Vista and the most recent iTunes 10.6.1.See my response to your other post.
The automatic iTunes backup does not contain any synced items like apps, music (either iTunes purchases or not). There is no difference in what is backed up. See:

I've followed all the suggestions for saving the battery life but the battery still discharges very quickly. The only way I can stop it discharging is by turning the ipod off, which sort of defeats the object!
It's been suggested that I totally reset the ipod as new and then set it up again from scratch. Does anyone now how likely this is to help, as it will take rather a long time?Looks like good news!
I finally bit the bullet and did a reset as new.
It was a total pain as you can imagine, but it wasn't the end of the world to go through i-tunes reselecting the apps etc to sink (it was actually a pretty useful exercise because my ipod was full of apps I didn't really use!).
Anyway, it's been off the charger now for nearly five hours and I've been using it for bits and pieces like, the calculator, internet search over wifi, map viewing etc. and the battery is showing 97%!!! All setting are as per the default start up. I haven't changed brightness or anything like that.
Interestingly, now when it goes into standby, the router shows that the wifi link has dropped. When I then wake it again the link restarts after a few miliseconds. This didn't used to happen before.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed and will see how it goes over the weekend and report back on Monday! -
my 160gb ipod just deleted its whole contents and keeps error-ing when i try to upload more songs to it! is there some way i can get them back, i dont have 2/3 of them stored as backup! hellpppppp!?!

I need to restore my sons ipod touch because he forgot his pswd. I can do thisby hitting restore in itunes, but it asks to backup first and my computer has no more memory to do the backup. Aren't all my itunes app purchases stored anyway? Why do I have to put this info onto my labtop?
The iPod backup that iTunes makes does not inlcude synced media like apps and music. Those items should be in your iTunes library.

Also unable to put applications on ipod touch
We just "found" my son's ipod touch after many months and cannot put applications on it. It does not have an appstore icon. We downloaded seom free apps from the itunes appstore, but when we click on the applications tab of his device, it does not let us select any of them for syncing. I saw an earlier post about having an updated ipod version so I just purchased the ipod 3.0 software and there is no difference.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
