I run XP SP2 and have just installed FF 4 over my old FF2. After installation, a part of my bookmarks has disappeared. Prior to installing FF4 I had made a copy of my FF profile folder. How can I retrieve my missing bookmarks ?
It seems as if FF4 had gone back to what my bookmarks' list was over a year ago or so ...
Did you ever used a Firefox 3 version with that profile folder?

If you have done that then Firefox 4 will have found and used the places.sqlite file from that installation.<br />
You can delete places.sqlite in the profile folder and all .json backups in the bookmarkbackups folder to make Firefox import the bookmarks from the file bookmarks.html<br />
Move the old bookmarks-xxxx-xx-xx.html backups in the bookmarkbackups folder from Firefox 2 to another location in case you need them.

Quit Safari completely and reboot the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up. -
I updated Firefox today and all my previous bookmark list disappeared. I tried to use the "import and backup" tab and followed the directions of the Firefox page to backup and restore my previous bookmarks. Unfortunately, nothing happened. Could you please help me with possible advice/guidance on how to resolve this? This is the second time this happens, always when Firefox receives updates..
You appear to be using the Developer Edition / Aurora pre-release version, which creates a new Profile upon installation or update on the Aurora channel. Open '''Options > General''' and tick or untick the box at the top which says '''Allow Firefox Developer Edition and Firefox to run at the same time'''. Once you restart ''[as told to]'' you will "toggle" over to the other Profile, where your bookmarks are - ''hopefully''.
If you don't like "updates", why are you using an '''alpha-2''' version that receives an update every day? -
OS 10.6.8 Safari 5.1.1 I no longer have access to the bookmark folders. There is just a search function that does not work well. Is there any way to get access back to my bookmark folders?
This site didn't say anything about one wrong ID, but only talks about changing the Apple ID. If it didn't work the first time why should it work now?

If you can't find them on any of your homescreens or app folders, and you can't find them via the spotlight search screen (swipe your first home screen to the right), then are they hidden by Settings > General > Restrictions > Installing Apps and iTunes being set 'off' ?
If not then have you tried a reset to see if you can find them after the iPad has restarted ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. -
I am running Windows 7 and have tried to install iCloud. No matter what instructions I follow, I still get the error message "This Apple ID is valed but is not an iCloud account." How can I resolved this?
I've tried both. First, I tried on my pc, where iTunes had installed iCloud when it last updated. I have iTunes installed on this computer (and on my iPad and iPhone), but that wasn't the issue.
So I went online, thinking I needed a separate iCloud Apple ID, but it prompted me for my current Apple ID and gave me the message about my ID being "valid" but not an iCloud account," which, lol, was what it had asked me to do in order to create one. I am running Yosemite and have just bought Pro Tools Express with the intent to Upgrade to Pro Tools 11. Pro Tools Express is not compatible with Yosemite and will not install. How can I get this done?
I have had this problem for close to a year. I have an Extreme base station, two Airport Express's and multiple G4 Mac's with up to date software. I have spent a huge amount of time trouble shooting, resetting, reapplying software and finally calling Applecare without any help. It would be great to get this problem solved.

I have lightroom 5.7 installed, and have just downloaded / installed Lightroom CC, but although lightroom 5 runs ok, Lightroom CC will not run, any ideas please.
What seems to be working for many users (myself included) is to sign out of CC and then sign back in. After signing back in, LR will run.

I have an Imac running snow leopard and have recently installed a cannon i-sensys lbp7750Cdn printer since then I can't get the printer working and the air port has lost the DNS servers; if it ever had them!!! but it dose not look happy and it is telling me so. Can any one help please?
Snow Leopard breaks quite a few drivers - my Canon exhibited the same problem.
I eventually found updated drivers on the Canon website. You can try that with the HP, but if the all-in-one is more than a year or so old, don't hold your breath.
You can also try Software Update to see if it will offer new drivers, or failing that go to the Support Downloads site and search for HP updates.
In fact there's a new one for HP at the top of the list just now.
You may not necessarily want the latest one, though - check the specs to see if your model is covered; if not, search for the previous update etc. -
i got a new lenovo desktop windows 8.1,installed itunes and synced my iphone 4 no problems. then i imported a cd of songs which showed up in recently added but not in main library ,therefore it did not sync to the iphone. how can i get new songs to appear in the main library and sync properly

johnCheck the songs are really not in the Music section of the library by clicking the magnifying glass in the search box and unticking Search Entire Library if it is ticked, then typing in the name of the album. If the tracks still don't show try closing iTunes and deleting a hidden file called sentinel from inside your iTunes folder. This should make iTunes run an integrity check on the database when you start it again. Make sure the tracks are checked before you try syncing again.

I have a Macbook Pro and have just purchased a GSP hidden objects game. It says on the box that it is compatible and when I try and install it it tells me that installation has been successful. However, it then says that PowerPC games not supported. Help?

the last version of Mac OS X which supported running PowerPC apps on Intel Macs was Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard). If you’d like to play this PowerPC game on your Intel MacBook Pro, then you’ll need to install Snow Leopard on it and boot into Snow Leopard. (Note that the last MacBook Pro which natively supported Snow Leopard was the Early 2011 model.)
The game was almost certainly published before Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) was released, so back then, all versions of “Mac OS X 10.3 or higher” would have supported running that PowerPC game. -
My computer is saying it can't find the file 'iTunes64.msi' when I try to update or redownload iTunes how do I fix this? I've tried just about everything I can think of. I am using a dell laptop running windows 7 and have tried changing the file location to run the update in all of my iTunes files as well as when I've tried reinstalling it.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

How can I move all my bookmarks from different Firefox profiles (would like to move whole bookmark folders at once if possible) into one area to organize them and then place them into the different Firefox profiles? This is all under one window user account, I am using windows 8.1. Even if you have information on how to do it on a different windows, it may still be helpful. Thanks for any input you have.
Just a note about the difference between these two things:
* "export" and "import" use an ancient HTML document format that all browsers can understand. When you import bookmarks, Firefox may place them into an Imported Bookmarks folder, or into Unsorted Bookmarks. This does not displace existing bookmarks, and Firefox does not automatically remove duplicates.
* "backup" and "restore" use a more comprehensive JSON data file, which contains extra information about your bookmarks (such as tags) not contained in the traditional export file. HOWEVER, a restore completely replaces all existing bookmarks, so the restore feature cannot be used to merge in a set of additional bookmarks.

Some users find the disk-based Windows Favorites folder a convenient way to organize bookmarks. If you do, too, and you do not need to preserve tags on your bookmarks, you could export each profile's bookmarks to HTML and import them all into IE11. Organize them in the Windows Favorites folder, then export from IE11 to HTML and import that file into each Firefox profile. Unfortunately no. The only way the phone backs up is if you make it back up. You either connect to iTunes and backup and sync, or you set it up for a wifi sync to iCloud. But you have to setup iCloud to start with. You have learned a hard lesson on how to make sure you import pictures on a regular basis like you would the digital camera. When things happen to the phone, this is the media that is lost the most (pictures in camera roll). After taking a number of pictures, and especially ones you consider important, you should connect the phone to the computer and import them, so there is a backup copy on the computer.
Contacts are saved in the backup as well, however they are really designed to be synced to a supported application on the computer, or backed up to iCloud or other cloud service. And, the only way to go back in time on the phone is to restore from a backup, but you also have to remember, you would lose everything on the phone that you had done since that backup, so it is a double edged sword. -
