I think I found my problem...SB Audigy

Hi all
I have been having problems with my system when I enter one of my games...
It runs ok for a while and then suddenly locks up with reboot the only way out.
Previously when running 3D mark the sound would cut in and out on the sound test section and even occasionally it would lock up on the 24bit sound test but my scores were still around 5400 when it completed.
I unistalled the card and reinstalled the drivers numerous times but always the same results. I reset the bios to the defaults and only reset needed things like SATA RAID0 and boot order.
Temps are all good....I ran memtest 86 this morning with no errors at all.
So this morning I decided to disable the SB Audigy and install the drivers for the onboard sound....
I also removed the drivers for my graphics card (9800 pro) and reinstalled them.
Again with all default settings in the bios (1.8) I fired up the system with the onboard sound installed and I could instantly tell the the system had a fast crisp feel to it...
I ran 3d mark and not one problem while it ran...score come up with 5880 that is the performance I thought I should be at.
I re ran the 3dmark 3x and got almost the same score every time.
I then removed the onboard sound and reinstalled the SB Audigy.
Again with default setting in the bios I ran 3dmark....The sound did not cut out but the score was only at 5322 and it froze on one of the tries.
So I believe my system is being happered by the sound card...
anyone have a suggestion for this?
I would like to use a sound card because the onboard sound does not seem to give me 4 speaker outputs...only 2 speaker.
I do have a Turtle beach Santa-Cruz sound card that I could use but before I tried that I thought I would see what all of you think.

This patch will try to solve problems with Creative Labs sound cards.
Some recent Creative Labs sound card drivers feature a "turbo mode", which is usually enabled by default. Disabling "turbo mode" will stop the sound cards from making "hissing" or "crackling" noises, but Creative Labs does not provide a way to disable it. This patch program will disable "turbo mode" and thus stop the cards from making noises.
Before you begin:
The sound card drivers supplied with Windows do not feature "turbo mode", and this patch will not work. You must install drivers from a newer Creative-supplied CD, or download new drivers from http://www.creative.com.
The only cards supported by this patch program are the SoundBlaster Live series and the Audigy series.

Ready to apply patch. Apply patch now? Answer "Yes" to apply the patch, or No to end the program without patching. If you answer "Yes", the patch will be installed, and you will need to restart Windows in order for the patch to take effect.
Ready to remove patch. Remove patch now? Answer "Yes" to remove the patch, or No to end the program without removing the patch. If you answer "Yes", the patch will be removed, and you will need to restart Windows in order for the patch to take effect.

Millions of people got off work & turned on there computers recently to discover that Firefox is not playing any videos or flash content. Just like me, millions of people are randomly searching the internet in a futile & frustrating attempt at answers. Unfortunately, many of those people will simply stop using firefox & deem it a glitchy, unreliable browser.
This happened to me a couple days ago. I started up my computer & got a pop-up from Adobe saying that I need to update my flash player to 11.3.300.262. I've always thought of adobe as being a reliable software company, so I clicked on it with confidence that things will be working even smoother. To my horror, I relalized that right after the update, my main browser, firefox was destroyed. Then I went on the frustrating process of uninstalling, re-installing, running virus scan, researching the internet like a lost child. I said to myself, "that's why I hate updating stuff, because updates always seem to change stuff you don't want it to change & there always seems to be a problem with the updates." I usualy update software months after it releases, because microsoft & all the other software companies always seem not to test there stuff properly before releasing them. Then we have to look at a glitchy computer until the next update fixes it. Well, that is my rant. Now let me discuss the problem I found.
Problem:
What I did was, go into my firefox extentions menu & I disabled the 11.3.300.262 & I re-enabled the previous flash player. After that, everything worked perfect again. Then a today (a week later), I turned on my computer & my firefox wasn't playing any videos or flash content again. I went into my firefox extenions menu again, & I discovered that my old flash player had been deleted, & this new glitchy 11.3.300.262 had been enabled. Why did adobe feel the need to into my computer & automaticly delete & update my flash player. Now it doesn't work. THIS IS REALY FRUSTRATING!
The Issue I discovered:
"RealPlayer" is the most popular video program & it is installed on millions of computers. For some strange reason Firefox does not want its users to use Real Player. Specifically the RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin 15.0.2. I also discovered that my Browser Record Plugin 15.0.2 was automatically disabled when the Adobe 11.3.300.262 was automatically updated also.
- Maybe this could be because of some copyright conspiracy to keep people from downloading videos from the web.
- Maybe firefox wants people to use there download add-on instead of RealPlayers downloader.
I don't know what ther reason is. But what I do know is Nobody is going to delete there RealPlayer from there computer just to use FireFox. We can simply use Chrome or Internet explorer. I took the advise from Adobe & disabled the FireFox RealPlayer Extention. I also went into my RealPlayer preferences options, But there was no option to disable download recording from FireFox. BECAUSE I ALREADY DISABLED THE ADD-ON in FireFoxes menu.
Solution:
Step 1: Adobe needs to update all the computers with the previous flash player. That way we can choose to enable the previous flash player in our FireFox. or wait until a new update fixes the problem with firefox.
Step 2: Adobe & FireFox need to get together & go back to the drawing board. They need to create a update that actually works on computers that have Real Player installed on them. I don't care which company does the update. All I care about is if it works. Thank You.
Oh yea, Im running FireFox 13.0.1, Windows 7, HP computer, Real Player is up to date.

I was able to duplicate this issue on my Windows 7 laptop as follows:
     1) Completely uninstall FlashPlayer (using your tool) as well as Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Maintenance Service (used Windows 7 - uninstall from Control Panel). Please note that I checked the box that said "Remove my Firefox personal data and customizations" to ensure that Firefox was completely gone from my laptop.
     2) I then went out to the Firefox website and downloaded the "Firefox Setup 13.0.1.exe" app to my laptop. I ran this app to install Firefox.
     3) I then went to the following website http://www.ishmael.org.uk/karaoke02.php as I know that this URL uses Flash Player (obviously you can go to any URL that uses Flash Player - I'm just letting you know which one I used). I then clicked on the icon on this page to install Flash Player.
Once the install was completed, the URL stops responding and appears to be locked up (although it will occassionally hiccup and display portions of the page and then lock up again). You will eventually get a pop-up notice from Firefox that has the header "Warning: Unresponsive script" and says the following:
     A script on this page may be busy or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to to see of the script will complete. Script: chrome://browser/content/browser.js:6551
Selecting "Stop script" will get Firefox working until you hit another page that uses Flash Player.
To ensure that the above URL is not the culprit, I used one from your website http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html and had the same results.

I'm a south korean highschool student and I think I found a problem with calculator application. I use iPod touch 4th generation with iOS 5.0.1. I was playing with calculator app and I found out that 0.1!(factorial) is 0.951350769866873. This can't be right bacause factorial calculation can only be definrd whan n is natural number or 0(in n!). I want apple to correct this error.
And if you are someone working with apple, please let me know the algorithm of factorial calculation(if possible). I would be grateful if I can have a chance to study the algorithm and find out what made 0.1! possible.

Storage space on the iPod would not affect shuffled playlists or playlist shuffling, though substantially full iPods may wind up skipping songs on larger playlists after a while, and require a restart. As for compressing the files themselves, you can automatically re-encode files to a lower bitrate by checking the box on the summary page when your iPod is connected to your PC/Mac.
As for the shuffle problem, after restarting your iPod (hold the center button and Menu for a few seconds, until the Apple logo appears), make sure you're telling the iPod to shuffle the songs in a playlist by repeatedly clicking the center button until the Suffle Menu comes up, then scroll to the right to turn it on. From that song forward, the playlists' contents should be shuffled every time the playlist ends, or is accessed from a new song.
Shuffle does sometimes turn itself off, I've found, so double-check the setting is still on. Also, iPods shuffle by randomly assigning a playlist order for your songs, which is different from traditional shuffle (on, say, iTunes or Windows Media Player, where the new song is determined at random upon the current track ending. The iPod only chooses a random order of songs when you shuffle, to conserve battery life and queue up songs coming up on the playlist in the event of a shock).

Should I pay the $245 for support? I ask because every time I have they could not fix the problem, I found the problem on my own.

I ask because every time I did call they could not fix the problem, as in I could not send mail, I was told it was my Internet, then they tell me it is my computer. After spending many many hours on the phone with Apple, I was told I had to reload my hard drive. Which by the way takes a lot more then a few hours. The next day I found I still had the same problem. I could not send mail... I found the problem my self// I didn't have a mail box set up to send mail. How sample that was. Then the next time if I wanted to empty trash I had to turn off the computer then reset to do so. When I called tech support she tells me that is normal and they had to do the same thing every time. Well she is wrong in that if you use "empty securely" and not the one that just says empty trash then you do not have to reset or turn off your computer.... So I ask what am I paying $245.00 for? I am sure I will need support at some time, and at least it does give me someone to talk to.

FYI - there has not been a name brand consumer personal computer actually manufactered in the USA in years. Lenovo, Dell, HP, Acer, Apple, Samsung,... - you name it they are ALL made in China or Tiawan. Often many of those brands are being assembled by the same Chinese company in the exact same factory, pulling parts (hard drives, displays, RAM, etc) from the exact same bins. Foxconn for example, which makes iPhones and iPads for Apple, also makes dozens of other makes and models of tablets, ereaders and smart phones for other companies. Like it or not, but the consumer electronic manufactering center of the world is China.
The only consumer computers actually made in the USA these days are by local custom build companies, and it has actually been that way for many years now (I think twinhead may have been one of the last with a plant in the USA - they are still around, now GammaTech, and they still do their "final assembly" in the USA but most of thier manufacturing is done in Tiawan and Malaysia).
By and large, the USA has been out of the actual consumer electronics manufacturing/assembly business for a decade or so now.

Keynote conversion: Powerpoint found a problem with content....

MS office is killing me and I'd appreciate any pointers and comments
Here's the situation:
1. Keynote file (multi-revised over the years) exported to powerpoint file XYZ in New-MBP
2. New-MBP opens XYZ and gets "found a problem with content in..."
3. Click on "repair", open up XYZ, and get bunch of blank pages
4. Same XYZ file copied to Old-MBP(freshly installed, now my home media server, not many apps installed).
5. Same version of Office 2011 installed in Old-MBP, opened the file just fine!
(so the problem is not NewMBP Keynote)
6. Created a test account in New-MBP
7. Attempted to open XYZ with Powerpoint
8. Same "found a problem with content in..."
9. Click on "repair", open up XYZ, and get bunch of blank pages
(so the problem is not user/privileges, but the NewMBP system-wide issue?)
10. In New MBP, created a brand new Keynote file, did some light work
11. Exported new keynote file to powerpoint file RRR
12. In New-MBP, RRR opened under Powerpoint 2011 just fine!
(so the problem might be the original multi-modified Keynote file?)
(But its powerpoint file XYZ opened in Old-MBP just fine!)
I've uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2011, with SP1, still cannot open XYZ properly.
I've copied all Office 2011 files from Old-MBP to New MBP, still cannot open XYZ properly.
I"ve googled the problem and tried anything I could find, still cannot open XYZ properly. (deleting presenter notes... etc)
My current conclusion: some kind of software system conflicts in the New-MBP.
Anyone with any ideas?

Met the same issues and spent hours to find the problem. And guess what ? I found it :-)
For some reason, groups are not supported by Powerpoint converted files.
This is why every slide that contains group is not converted.
The workaround is to ungroup all the groups in your keynote file (alt+cmd+shift+G) and you'll see your slides being converted again.
I'm not sure where the issue is coming from. I would tend to think it should be resolve by the Apple Keynote team.
Not sure whether it has been escalated so far.
There might be some other small issues. One or two slides were not properly converted although they were not containing group, but this should fix most of them.

so i found the problem with my ipod. after trying EVERYTHING i could, including everything on this site, and on http://www.methodshop.com/mp3/articles/iPodSupport.shtml whitch i strongly recomend you try, i decided "hey, i fixed my laptop by takeing apart the h-d, and as it turns out the arm was loose. well, i did the same to this ipod, and it was horrible. the arm must have somehow gotten bent, because the disk was completely scratched. it was pretty bad. now the question is, does anyone know where i can buy a 4g 20-40 gb hd? for less then the price of repair or a new one? any help would be awesome. andi doubt this is the same problem you all ahve had, this on was dropped on a hard bed from a high place. didnt think bed would do anything bad, but i was wrong. anyhow, anywhere to get a hard drive would be nice. thanks

I have created a SharePoint 2010 "Site Workflow" that is designed to take information from a form and create a Word doc with the gathered information and store this Word doc in a document library.
I am using Sharepoint 2013 with Office 2013
I understand there are a lot of steps (19) outlined below and I can provide more information as needed but the bottom line is this, workflow successfully takes info from an initiation form, uses the info to create a Word doc. Places this Word doc in a library.
When attempting to open / edit doc, receive error
"We're sorry. We can't open <document name> because we found a problem with its contents"
Details - No error detail available.
Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Very high level view of what I have done:
1 - Created content type called "Letters"
2 - Added site columns " First Name" and "Last Name"
3 - Created and saved to my desktop a very basic Word document (Letter.docx) that says "Hello, my name is XXXX XXXX"
4 - In the advanced settings of the "Letters" content type I uploaded this "Letter.docx" file as the new document template.
5 - Created a new document library called "Letters"
6 - In Library Settings - Advanced Settings, clicked "Yes" to enable the management of content types.
7 - Then I clicked "Add from existing content types" and added the "Letters" content type
8 - Back in the advanced settings of the "Letters" content type I selected "Edit Template" and replaced the first XXXX with the Quick Part "First Name" and the second XXXX with the Quick part "Last Name"
9 - Created a new 2010 Site workflow called "Create a Letter"
10 - To the workflow I added the action "Create List Item"
11 - Configured the action to create Content Type ID "Letters" in the document library "Letter"
12 - For the "Path and Name" I gave it a basic name of "Letter to"
13 - The next step was to create the Initiation Form Parameters and added to form entries "First Name" and "Last Name"
14 - I then linked the initiation form fields to the data source "Workflow Variables and Parameters" to their respective Field from Source parameters
15 - Went back to the "Path and Name" and modified the basic name of "Letter to" to include the first and last name parameters.
16 - Saved - published and ran the work flow.
17 - As expected, Initiation Form prompts for First and Last Name. ("John Doe") Then click "start
18 - Go to document library "Letters" and see a new Word document created titles "Letter to John Doe"
19 - Go to open / edit the Word document and receive the following error

This is a known problem with Windows 7 Enterprise using certain Group Policy settings. Solution for me was to use another machine running Windows 7 Ultimate.

Sorry. What I mean is I selected the SL boot up in the start up panel and it would not boot into the cd. The CD rom sounds like it just keeps reading with it slowly loading from grey screen to blue screen to the Block screen. Almost like it is booting into normal mode from the hard drive.
What I can't understand is why it runs fine is Safe mode?
Also why do I get a " this disk cannot be used to start up your computer" message on my hard drive when trying to install Lion in safe mode? Well why not it's the only hard drive in the computer?
The first screen shot is the Tech tool showing everything passed the hardware test is safe mode.

You can't do what you want with iCloud. You will need to setup remote access to your main computer with VPS or some similar remote access application. With VPS you have an application running on your main computer turning it into a server and an client app on your laptop so you can access it remotely. There are many such apps out there, some probably more feature filled than VPS. You might post in the system forum that you're running and ask there.

Install 10g R2 Win XP,P4,The oui.exe found a problem and need to be closed

On my computer the Universal Installer that comes with the 10201_database_win32.zip Download fails at startup.
I try the the setup.exe and the oui.exe in the "install" subdirectory, but i get the same error message.

I got it going.
This was the 10.2 download from OTN installing to MS Windows XP SP2.
Turns out that OUI won't start if the total length of the full directory path string is too long (to setup.exe or oui.exe). Solution was to move it closer to the base directory ("\") or to rename directories to make them shorter.

Not quite what I heard when I went into the Apple Store in Hong Kong yesterday.
I have just bought an iPad in Hong Kong but will eventually be travelling back to the UK.
Louis in the Apple Store told me that iPads without cellular have international warranty but those with cellular do not (as there are slightly different models for different carriers).
But he was pretty cagey and essentially couldn't give a clear, straightforward answer. Which most Apple employees can't.
It is now a grey area, at the discrection of each local Apple Store & is subject, it seems, to you paying the import duty as a possible get out clause.
Look carefully but do tell us if you got this iPad reapired. Thanks.
