I touch doesn't connect to itunes

My I touch does not appear in itunes under Devices.  I touch as the itunes logo with the USB cable icon.  I have held the home and the sleep/wake button together till the apple icon appeared, didn't change anything.  I have uninstalled and re-installed itunes, no change.  Turned the power off and back on, no change.  Re-installed network connections and still no change,

Might not be the best answer but,
Try and get a different cable.
If that doesn't work, try Youtubing it (that always helps me)
And If not, try and set it down turned off for a while and then try it again, also. Sync it.

  • IPod Touch doesn't connect to iTunes after Update to iTunes 8.2.1

After installing an update to iTunes my iPod Touch 8GB (w/ 3.0 upgrade) is no longer recognized. My other iPod Nano is recognized. I've tried everything - completely uninstalling iTunes, including manually removing iTunes files, but nothing work. Based on the other posts to this forum this must have something to do with a bad interface between 3.0 and iTunes 8.2.1.

Just wanted to say a big "thank you" for this advice. I have no idea what it means, or what it did, or what was wrong, but I just did it, and it worked!
Basically, last night I updated iTunes from 9.0 to 9.0.1 and I also did the latest Security Update for my Tiger (10.4.11)
This morning when I plugged in my iPod Touch like normal, it didn't mount, or do anything in iTunes. This has never happened before. I tried all sorts. It did however mount like normal on a Macbook Pro which hasn't had the 9.0.1 iTunes update or the latest Security Update.
I was pulling my hair out. I finally found this thread, copied your advice, and hey presto, I'm a happy bunny again!
I don't know what caused it. Was it the iTunes update? The Security Update? Who knows? Fingers crossed it doesn't happen again though.
I'm afraid I don't even know what the iTunes Helper is, or what it does! Do I need to know?
I know this isn't in a current iTunes (9.0) thread, but this is the thread where I got the advice. Does anyone know if this is happening to anyone else after these two particular updates? I'd like any other people affected to know what helped me, and for Apple to know if there is a problem.
    Anyway, thanks again.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • After updating ipod touch to iOS 5 it doesn't connect to itunes (or computer) any more.

After updating my ipod touch 4G to iOS 5 it doesn't connect to itunes (or my computer) at all.
itunes shows an error. I can't turn it on or off either. i can only see the black screen with the apple while it's (aparently) working.
my itunes is the latest version, that shouldn't be the problem.
    can anyone help me?!

The updating on the iPod only is a feature of iOS 5. yu first have to connect to your syncing computer and upadate to iOS 5. After that you can do subsequent updating via wifi without a computer.

If You Are Locked Out Or Have Forgotten Your Passcode or Just Need to Restore Your Device
      1. iTunes 10 for Mac- Update and restore software on iPod, iPhone, or iPad
      2. iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
      3. iOS- Understanding passcodes
If you have forgotten your Restrictions code, then follow the instructions
below but DO NOT restore any previous backup. If you do then you will
simply be restoring the old Restrictions code you have forgotten. This
same warning applies if you need to restore a clean system.
A Complete Guide to Restore or Recover Your iDevice (if You Forget Your Passcode)
If you need to restore your device or ff you cannot remember the passcode, then you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and re-sync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
Before restoring your iOS device, Apple recommends that you either sync with iTunes to transfer any purchases you have made, or back up new data (data acquired after your last sync). If you have movie rentals on the device, see iTunes Store movie rental usage rights in the United States before restoring.
Follow these steps to restore your device:
         1. Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes before attempting to update.
         2. Connect your device to your computer.
         3. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
         4. Select the Summary tab.
         5. Select the Restore option.
         6. When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the Back Up
option (see in the image below). If you have just backed up the device, it is not
             necessary to create another.
         7. Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up,
you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).
         8. When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple
             logo while starting up:
After a restore, the iOS device displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. For updating
to iOS 5 or later, follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. For earlier versions of
iOS, keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or
              you see "iPhone is activated."
         9. The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup. If you do not have a
backup to restore, then restore as New.
If you are restoring to fix a forgotten Restrictions Code or as a New device, then skip Step 9 and restore as New.

  • Ipod touch doesn't recognized by itunes password

My ipod touch doesn't recognized my itunes password, so I am not able to purchase anything from the ipod touch, but I am able to do it through my computer.

Try going to Settings>Store and sign out and then sign back in.
This is assuming that your problem is that when you try to make a purchase the PW you enter at the prompt is said to be incorrect.

  • My ipod shuffle 4th doesn't connect to itunes or windows, what can I do?

    hello,
it's been like 2 weeks since I did the update of itunes and everything to get my ipod shuffle 4th generation, and also did all the troubleshooting from the apple page, and nothing happens. It doesn't connect to itunes or windows.
anyone of you have the same problem or know how to solve it??
    thx a lot!!

I'm having the same problem, my brand new Ipod shuffle isn't recognized by my pc, or Itunes. I have tried everything suggested in troubleshooting. Did I just waste $50 on something that doesn't work? I'm afraid if I send the Ipod back for another one I will have the same problem. Any suggestions ?

Usually it's because you are not making internet connection via wifi.

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
