If nothing else is working you can try to put it into recovery mode and restore it that way. Plug in you cable to your computer and make sure your phone is off...hold the home button while you plug the cable into your phone, continue holding the button until a logo pops up showing itunes and cord going towards it, then you can let go of your home button and itunes will prompt you that it detects a phone in recovery mode and make you restore it

HT1657 watching a movie on Apple TV and it just stops in the middle of it. Try settings and check for rental and just get the spinning wheel for over 30 minutes.

Can't seem to finish a movie on AppleTV. It just stops in the middle of movie and returns to menu. Try to check for rentals under settings like it says to when we try and download movie again and all I get is a spinning wheel. At least the second this has happened in the middle of a movie. Beginning to think AppleTV is junk!

How do I get my iPhone to turn back on?

I was at my friends house, and it was dying, so I used her moms charger. The next day after I left I went out to eat. I assumed it would die while we were eating so I left it in the car. When I came back it was dead. When I got home, I plugged it into the charger. It was there for at least an hour and it still wouldn't turn on. I thought there might be something wrong with the charging chord so I switched it to another one. Still it wouldn't turn on. It's been on the charger now for over 10 hours. Yes, I have tried holding down the buttons, and still it won't turn on. I havent had this phone for even a year yet.

Try a Reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings. You may need to hold the buttons for as long as a minute.
If this doesn't work, you have a 1 year warranty. Make an appoiintment at the Genius Bar and let Apple look at it.

A "clicking noise" is often a sign that a hard drive is malfunctioning. Suggest that you power down the device and take it to an Apple store to have them take a look, or contact Customer Service at Apple for instructions.

OK, well to start with, you must have the icon file in the correct format. You need to end up with an .icns file. One of the how-to articles should tell you how to do this - iConvert will also do it.
If it is in the correct format, when you click the icon file to highlight it, and click cmd-i, you will see the Get Info window - at the top left, you should see a mini version of the icon. If you do NOT see that icon correctly, the file is not the correct format. So this will not work for a jpg or png file, for example.
Once you have this window open, go to the thumbnail, click it to highlight it blue, and click cmd-C to copy.
Go to your Safari app from the Applications folder (not from the dock), again click cmd-i to open its Get Info window, and again click its icon to highlight it blue. Now click cmd-V to paste. You will be asked for your admin password to authenticate. The icon should now become the one you've pasted in.
You may need to log out and back in for the effect to show on the application file itself.
You might also want to look into Candybar if you plan on doing a lot of icon customization.

There are two ways that a backup can become encrypted:
You chose to encrypt it, then forgot the password.
If you have company-provided MS Exchange access your IT department has the option of requiring your backup to be encrypted. The first time you backed up or synced after installing MS Exchange you were prompted for a password. That is the password you need.
If you don't have the password any longer there is no way to restore the backup.

After about a month of having my ipod it wouldnt show up on itunes. The only place it shows up is at the bottom of the screen on the tool bar where i can safely disconnect it. It doesnt come up under my computer. I've had this problem for awhile and I've tried every possible way there is to try to fix it and nothing has worked. I really dont want to have to spend 250 bucks to buy a new one that this could happen again to. So if anyone could please please help me that would be awesome.

You could convert it (say using iFFmpeg or EasyWMV for example).
Note, vlc, like many other mac software, is downloaded as a .dmg file. If it doesn't automatically expand after downloading it then double click it. It will mount on your desktop showing an icon. You could then drag that icon to wherever you desire (i.e., copy the icon representing the mouted .dmg) or double click the icon to open it up like any other folder and drag the vlc.app program to the indicated applications folder.

I have reset the phone, full firmware restore, even downgraded back from firmware 4.2.1 to .3.1.3 official by using dfu mode and still doesnt fix.
(i correctly got out of dfu mode after the downgrade)
i can enter dfu mode and recovery, and update through itunes with no problem, but it doesnt fix the problem,
i have searched and found no answer to this problem, every option availible to try that i know of i have tried and failed. i dont care about preserving my content i just want a fix. i have a good understanding how to operate software on a computer and shouldnt be too confused by any advice given, so plz even if the answer is very complex i wish to try anything, please help me to get my iphone working.

I also have tried to put it in rice and left it there for 9 hours and it still doesn't work

A drop or two of water may have been enough to cook it. If it was bad enough to prompt you to put it in a bag of rice, then I'd venture to guess it was more than a drop or two.
Try putting it back in the bag of rice and leave it there for several days.
If that doesn't fix it, then you're more than likely looking at paying for an out of warranty replacement.
Water and delicate electronics don't generally get along well.

I'm having the same issue. I saved a PDF from an email into iBooks. I'm on apple applying for a job but the only option the upload button has is from the Photos file. How ironic right? Luckily I'm in Logistics and not an IT specialist applying for this job! Lol. Does anyone know the fix?
