I tried updating to the latest version of Firefox. When I dragged the icon to 'applications', it failed to complete the process. I'm running Mac OS 10.5.8

Details are included in question.

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop
* Firefox 7.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
* Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
* Install the new version that you have downloaded
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data if you uninstall and (re)install Firefox.

  • I have the latest version of Firefox. How do I clear my personal info and then clear the cache?

I have the latest version of Firefox. It is: Firefox/3.6.13 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729).
I got a page that said I needed to clear my personal information, then clear my cache. It said I could do that in the "tools" menu. The "tools" menu has no such option.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

Thats' all well and good, but FIREFOX crashes when I click on those links. I'm not doing it again. Heck with it.
Am going to TRY and get my old version of FIREFOX back.
If it were not THIS problem, I'm sure I'd be having another problem because I've had nothing BUT problems since I "updated" my browser, the way my neighbor says you are supposed to.
    Thanks anyway, caldwell418

  • Why do I keep getting notified that I am not on the latest version of Firefox when I have the latest version installed?

I have checked the version and found it is the latest. The message appears below the FireFox Start box.

I am seeing the same thing as you are. Its probably because that earlier Google homepage was used in earlier Firefox versions. So the page thinks that you are still using a previous version of Firefox.
Change the homepage to the following address:
    * http://www.google.com/webhp?rls=ig
Check and tell if its working.

  • Since updating to the latest version of Firefox, I can't open a link inserted into an email. did the update disable something that I need to change?

Can no longer go from Outlook to the web directly.
    1. browers links copied directly into the body of an email will not open
    2. links within adverts will not connect.
I can only access the web directly through the browser icon.

You can modify the pref <b>keyword.URL</b> on the <b>about:config</b> page to use Google's "I'm Feeling Lucky" or Google's "Browse By Name".

  • I tried to upgrade to the latest version of Firefox but on the Firefox start page is still says "you are not on the latest version of Firefox, upgrade now"

I tried to upgrade to the latest version of Firefox but on the Firefox start page it still says "you are not on the latest version of Firefox, upgrade now". The start page looks different so maybe it did upgrade but why does the reminder still show?

You may see that message below the Google search box on www.google.com/firefox which is the old Firefox default home page. It appears that page is no longer being maintained by Google. You appear to have the latest Firefox version.
'''If you want the Google search page as your home page,''' change your home page to '''''about:home''''' (a new, updated version of the old Google/Firefox home page is now built-in to Firefox).

  • I get, You're not on the latest version of Firefox. Upgrade today to get the best of the Web! When I go to the update site it tells me that I have the latest version.

    I start the Firefox browser.
When the start page displays I get just below the Google search box:
You're not on the latest version of Firefox. Upgrade today to get the best of the Web!
Not unusual but when I go to the update site it searches for a minute and then tells me that I have the current version of the software.

If you use the www.google.com/firefox site as home page that previous Firefox 3 versions use as the home page then you can ignore the message about not using the latest Firefox version on that page.<br />
Google no longer seems to maintain that page.<br />
Current Firefox 4+ versions no longer use that Google website as the home page, but use the build-in about:home page as the home page.<br />
Google assumes that you use an older Firefox version if you still visit that site and warns you that you use an older Firefox version and suggests to update.<br />
You can use another page as the home page like about:home or www.google.com or www.google.com/ig (iGoogle).<br />

  • After updating to the latest version of Firefox on my Mac there is no progress bar for the page load. I really miss this feature and can't seem to find a way to obtain it.

The page load progress bar that was on the lower right of the window is no longer there. After updating to the latest version of Firefox on my Mac there is no progress bar for the page load. I really miss this feature and can't seem to find a way to obtain it. The tab has a circular progress wheel but this is useless for determining a stuck or slow loading page.
PLEASE NOTE: I am typing this in from a Windows based work computer but am asking about my Apple MacBook Pro that i use at home.

Firefox 4 saves the previous session automatically, so there is no longer need for the dialog asking if you want to save the current session.<br />
You can use "Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session" to get the previous session at any time.<br />
There is also a "Restore Previous Session" button on the default <b>about:home</b> Home page.<br />
    Another possibility is to use:
    * [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Menu_differences Firefox (Tools) > Options] > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

I updated the latest version of iOS software on my Macbook Pro and now when I try to open up iPhoto it says that I need to update the latest version. But when I go to update on iTunes, it says the latest version is unavailable to the U.S. I wouldn't mind leaving it be but I can't access any of my photos. What do I do?

    Thanx!

The best maintained PowerPC browser at the moment is TenFourFox:
    http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/
It is a Mac port of a newer version of FF thatn any PowerPC Mac can support natively. It runs, looks and feel like FF.
I found some add-ons that helped TFF with speed issues. Pleae see my post in another PPC forum:

  • When are you going to make GOOGLE TOOLBAR compatible with the latest version of firefox, i will not update to version 8 until its compatible

    Question
When are you going to make GOOGLE TOOLBAR compatible with the latest version of firefox, i will not update to version 8 until its compatible

It's not going to happen. Google announced withdrawal of their Google Toolbar.
Using Google Toolbar features without toolbars - MozillaZine Knowledge Base
    :http://kb.mozillazine.org/Using_Google_Toolbar_features_without_toolbars
The Google Toolbar will not be updated for Firefox 5 or later Firefox versions. ([http://googletoolbarhelp.blogspot.com/2011/07/update-on-google-toolbar-for-firefox.html reference]) Google finally decided that their [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Problematic_extensions problematic extension] is beyond repair for the little benefit added for Firefox users. Google as with other browsers is eliminating or making toolbars less accessible.
Consider the features that you are using and see if you can match up features from the list created by Google and by Firefox users.

This is a copy of ONEof the keys  in the registry I changed  as told by Apple support today. I also have changed others as instructed by GEAR  software support to manually delete GEAR drivers (that I had installed but couldn't delete some of the others  they mentioned from Windows system 32. Then some bright spark at work told me I need the Gear drivers so  I downloaded the software and installed again.
Sorry, just this minute went to insert image  and it is giving me a message saying this sort of content  is not allowed?.
The most recent key I altered is in: HKey _local _machine. System\class - 4D36E965-E325-11CEBFC1-08002BE10318. Upper Filter data: Upper filter NTIDrvr  SiRem GEARAspiWDN.

  • What do I do when I've tried upgrading to the latest version of Firefox and I see the message: "access denied"?

I've tried multiple times to upgrade to the latest version of Firefox. I click download, then run, and shortly after, a little pop-up appears titled "7-Zip" and the message "Access is denied" is within the pop-up.

    Try this:
*Download the full Firefox installer and save the file to the desktop<br>https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/
*Start the installation with a double-click on the desktop icon
It is possible that anti-virus software is causing the problem.
Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test.
