I updated my iPod touch 4 To 5.1.1 and everything has been deleted?
I couldnt restore anything beacuse i didnt know my backup password..So everything just went off it.
i have found some hidden folders to do with iTunes and ipod , Disguised as files and things like that but how do i put them back onto my ipod and how im sure what they are because thers so many?
You can redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Unless you have the other media on your computer, they are lost unless you can get them again.
You said i have found some hidden folders to do with iTunes and ipod
Without knowing more about their location and names I can't help. However, I doubt they will be useful.

I know it's a tad late, but I recently updated my iPod touch 4th gen to iOS 6 and now it won't play any of my music. It will play Spotify and YouTube just fine, but it won't play my music. It will just skip to the next a d the next and the next after a second or two without any sound. Please help! Thank you.
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync all music and resync
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device. -
I updated my ipod touch 4th gen to ios 5 and lost all my photos. how can i get it back? i'm using windows 7. help please? thanks!
This was the scenario:
The first time I updated, it was only my music that was lost.
When I got my music back, I lost my apps.
When I got my apps back, my contacts, notes and photos were lost.
Now I got back everything except for my photos.
(Yes, I restored from backup several times since the first update.)
Do you think if I try restoring from back up, my photos that were taken from my ipod will be restored finally?
Thank you. -
Updated my ipod touch to IOS 5.0.1, and free and paid apps not working
updated my ipod touch to IOS 5.0.1, and free and paid apps not working
Try downloading any NEW free or paid app from the App Store. This will refresh the system and hopefully your other apps will work, too.

I have restored my iPod classic and everything has been wiped off, now when I connect it to the laptop, iTunes doesn't recognise it and windows won't format it, an error message comes up "unable to format". Can someone please help me sort this problem, it's so frustrating!!!!!!
It could be an indication or a damaged or dying hard drive. I would recommend doing a disk diagnostic on the iPod's HD using the instructions given by turingtest2 in this older thread. He also covers what the resulting numbers indicate.

I made a new Apple ID and everything has been changed and then I am trying to update candy crush and it is asking me for an old apple ID and this hasn't happened before
Games and media are forever tied to the AppleID used to download them.
Either log in under the old ID to update Candy Crush or delete the game and
then download it under the new ID. All in-app purchases and progress will be lost.
Why did you make a new AppleID, if I may ask? -
I just want to know if you can get all of your pictures back when you update an ipod touch?
All of your music, apps, photos, videos, etc, should reside on your computer, not just on your easilly stolen,, lost or damaged prtable device.
A normal update, or even upgrade, restores all your settings and data from the backup thats created at the start of the process. Even if something goes wrong, you can sync back everything from your computer. -
This afternoon I updated my iPod Touch 4th generation with the iOS 5 update. I left the computer alone for about an hour, since that is how long iTunes said the update would take. When I came back, all of my music and apps were gone. Why did this happen? Is there any way to fix it? Thanks for the help.
- If in the USA you can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
- You can always redownload apps at no additional cost as long as you are signed into the same iTunes account the orignally purchased them.
- It appears that the apps and music were not in the iTunes library on the computer on which you performed the update. Music and the apps themselfes (app data is in the backup) are not part of the bckup hat iTunes makes as the first step of the uPdate. Apps and music are synced from your iTunes library during a latter part of the update process. -
My ipod keeps telling me that my apple ID has been disabled whenever I try to update or buy new apps. I've already changes my password to see if that would fix the problem, but the message is still popping up about my apple ID being disabled. How do I fix this?
Hi Inparker,
When you say you changed your password, did you change it on Manage My AppleID? If so, once you did that, did you sign out of the iTunes & App Store on your iPod Touch? If you did not, then you need to do that, then sign back in with your new password.
Cheers,

I updated my Ipod Touch (from version 2.2) but nothing obvious has happened
First of all, hello You could say I'm a newbie to this website lol.
Anyway, I've had my Ipod Touch since Christmas 2008. I've used it previously, obvously - but then had to have my original laptop reformatted, & I didn't want to risk losing all of my music by downloading itunes again & having no music when it started to sync so I never used it again. I got a new laptop for Christmas 2009 & decided I wasn't that interested in whether I lost music or not because I would only have revamped everything & replaced old music with new so I went ahead & downloaded itunes again. At first, it wouldn't recognise the ipod at all. (I tried the lead in all USB's as somebody suggested but that didn't work. I restored the whole ipod, but it still wasn't recognisable. A friend gave me one of his leads to borrow & I've got everything working. I downloaded a few of the free apps from the itunes store, but a pop-up window came up when I tried to sync, telling me that they wouldn't work because I needed a newer version (OS or something? But it mentioned iPhone.) I updated it to the newest version, as somebody else suggested & when I'd clicked 'done,' it showed me the games list. I'm not sure whether it's worked or not. I used my Mum's credit card, & she gets quite wary after a substantial amount of money went missing from my Dad's bank account after using Amazon. I checked my itunes account & the recent purchases, which just listed the apps I'd downloaded with no mentioning of the update. I'm beginning to think it hasn't worked, but as I'm new to this sort of thing - I'm not sure whether it takes time? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.I'm actually having the SAME problem. I did not get an error message after I paid for the upgrade and it downloaded. I restarted my iPod Touch. I redownloaded iTunes. I restarted my laptop. If anyone could help with this situation that would be great.

My I pod won't turn on. It was updated with new software and when it went to restart the apple icon comes up and stays up, but that's it. The only other action we found is that the charging indicator has come on but that's it. What should I do?
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

My iPod touch (3rd gen - 64 gig)
keeps advising me that my Apple ID has been disabled - it doesn't say for security reasons
I have reset the device, changed my password twice, and left it overnight but it still will not allow me to update OR install any new apps (that have been paid for).
Does anyone have a phone number that I can call that will reach a person who can get it sorted out???Unfortunately, I don't have a number, but if you go the apple.com/support/itunes, it'll give you the pathway to connect with iTunes support. You can also just go straight to Express Lane. Hope this helps!
