I uploaded the newest version and itunes stopped working! This on my windows computer at home, can anyone help? Sorry, by not working I mean I click on the icon and itunes starts up - shows me the library screen with all my music on it, says accessing account and then pops up a message saying it has encountered a problem and needs to close. When I say ok, it closes and goes away!

Just fixed this issue for iTunes for Windows with minimal damage, try:
1. Browse to "C:\Users\<YourUserName>\AppData\Roaming" in Windows Explorer.
2. Rename the "Apple Computer" folder to "Apple Computer-old".
3. Start iTunes
4. Close iTunes
5. Copy the file "iTunesPrefs.xml" from "C:\Users\<YourUserName>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer-old\iTunes"
6. Paste the old "iTunesPrefs.xml" into the new "Apple Computer\iTunes" folder iTunes just created (not the one you renamed) under "C:\Users\<YourUserName>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer-old\iTunes"
7. Overwrite the new iTunesPrefs.xml with your old copy of the file.
If you don't care about losing your iTunes preferences then you can just do step 2. You can always go back and grab things from the old folder later if you realize you wanted to have your EQ settings, individual track gains, etc...

Only the commercials would play for me using version 3, so I upgraded to version 11. Still only the commercials would play, but the show or clips would not. I tried using IE7 and that worked fine playing both. I uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Flash. (note: Firefox seems to have some problem. It identifies it as Shockwave Flash Player and Shockwave Director is something else, but the actual player in the window was the lastest version of Flash. ) The reinstall did not help. I then looked at all the Browser Options and noticed that I had disabled 3rd party cookies. I like to run that way. I re-enabled 3rd party cookies and now both the commercials and videos play. TS3212 When I updated itunes to the latest version, my itunes stopped working all together. I cannot re-download it, start it up, nothing. I have windows XP.

Itunes does not open I get a runtime erroe. It says:
R6034
An application has mad an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly. Please contack the applications support team for more information.
Nothing works and the error message keeps popping up.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

So earlier today I updated to the newest version of itunes and ever since I've been having problems syncing devices. I have plugged my iphone in and it will say its sync in the menu list on the left side of itunes but isn't working

I downloaded the newest version of itunes and ever since I've been having problems. When I connect my iphone to itunes, it will say its synced up, however when i'm trying to add music its just not allowing it to happen.
Also when I try to restore the Iphone or check for updates, It says connect via USB to check for updates or restore. The same with attemting to sync apps
I've reinstalled itunes several times and removed and reinstalled my portable devices. And still nothing. When I first plug the iphone in, it will to that auto play Windows 7 does and allows pictures to be saved onto the PC.
It seems like the syncing is working with some things and now others. Any idea's would be delightful??

I feel its more of my sync drivers for itunes/iphone not working if that makes sense. Its not my itunes that stops responding, its more of that if the phone syncs up it fails to anything further.

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

Hello, Everyone--any help you could give would be greatly appreciated since I am freaking out a bit about this!
I have had iTunes since April when I got my iPod mini. I have downloaded the newer version of iTunes any time it has prompted me to do so when I open iTunes.
So, tonight it tells me there is a newer version. I download it just like always, but this time, when I double click on iTunes, nothing happens. So, I read some of the other posts on here and followed some of the directions like going in to the add/remove hardware and seeing if it's there and then repairing it. I did just that--it's there and it repaired it, but to no avail. I am stressing out now. Now, when I go to shut down my computer, it takes several minutes to shut down--and it never did that before. My computer is newer and was working fine until this happened. Yes, Quicktime appears to be working fine. I am just wondering if I did something wrong or if there is a HUGE flaw with this new iTunes version since it would appear others are also experiencing technical difficulties. Any help any of you could give would be greatly appreciated! I have a Dell Dimension 2400 with the Windows XP operating system. And once again, I have never had problems with iTunes until today. Oh--and when I plug in my iPod, that doesn't pull iTunes up either now. HELP!!!

Thank you doesn't say it strongly enough, but THANK YOU b noir and Lorraine for your help. I was to the boiling point last night and starting to get there tonight. Now I am resting easy and thankful that there is a community of computer users out there who care enough to troubleshoot problems together and work together to figure out a solution--and then to take the time to post and share information.
I would STRONGLY suggest that anyone who is having the iTunes issues where iTunes just plain won't open at all after downloading the newest version and has a pc with Norton Internet Security 2005 try the "Lorraine Method."
I am so happy I think I might sing. Or not--I will let my songs on iTunes do the singing for me now that I can again!!!!!!!
And to those still looking for answers--be patient--I now know how incredibly frustrating this can be and I hope that you all find your solutions very very soon!!

It sounds like there is an issue burning CD's in iTunes. Is the playback issue only occurring on a specific device and does the disc show up correctly in iTunes? HT4527 I transfered my Itunes information using a thumb drive to my new computer and downloaded the newest version of itunes to my new laptop. My songs are all there on the new computer but it won't recognize my ipod and sync.

I transfered my I tunes library to my new laptop using a thumb drive. I downloaded the newest version of Itunes to my new computer. My old ITUNES library of songs and books came across just fine. I can play them on the new laptop but they won't sync with my Ipod. The Itunes shows no devices when I hook it up to the laptop. Windows recognizes that the IPOD is hooked up. But no connection with ITUNES. Did I make a mistake in trying to sync my Itunes purchases to the new laptop before transfering the old library into the new ITUNES. If so how do I undo the problem. Please help. I use a PC with Windows XP.
