Unfortunately once all the 3 iCloud accounts have been created on your mobile device, you cannot create any more regardless of what you do. You will need to re-use one of the accounts that you have already created or create your new account on another device or computer.
You should however be able to add existing accounts to your device, are you sure you aren't trying to create on rather than simply use an existing one.

  • "You have reached the maximum number of free accounts activated on this iPhone"

I bought a used iphone 4s, and when i try to activate my icloud account, it shows mw thw followin message:
"Unable to start session - You have reached the maximum number of free accounts activated on this iphone"
    Is there a solution?

Each device can only create three free iCloud accounts.  Once these are created, you cannot create another account on that device.  You can only re-use one of the accounts previously created, or create a new account to use on another iOS device (running iOS 5 or higher) or Mac (running OS X Lion or higher), if you have one.

  • I bought a used iphone4s and it says that the maximum number of icloud accounts have already been registered on it. what to do now?

i bought a used iphone4s and it says that the maximum number of icloud accounts have already been registered on it and i cannot now access to it. what to do?

That message it means that you will not be able to create another iCloud account on your device as the maximum number have already been created.  Your only options are to either re-use one of the accounts previously created, or create your new account using on a different iOS device or Mac, if you have one.

  • Why I see this message ''The maximum number of free accounts have been activated on this iPad'' when I want to set up my account on iCloud?

When I try to sign in with my Apple ID (that I use with AppStore) to iCloud on my iPad2,
    I see this message:
''The maximum number of free accounts have been activated on this iPad''.
    So what shall I do?

  • For the iCloud account, under Advanced it has an old email, how do I change that?

When looking at the iCloud account, the basic account info is correct, but under Advanced it has an old email address, how do I remove/udpate that?

Have you tried tapping on the given Email address, this should lead you to a page that lists other emails (aliases) from which you can choose one.
Or log into icloud.com with a computer browser, go to the mail page, click the cog wheel (upper right), and look at your account settings.

  • I have 2 iCloud accounts I want to amalgamate them both.  How can I do this? On one account I've bought extra storage.

I have two iCloud accounts I want to amalgamate them both. On one account I've bought storage.  MyiPad cant be used because the message not enough storage appears. I'm pulling my hair out.

I'm afraid you can'te amalgamate two iCloud accounts; the nearest you can get is to export the datea from one and import it into the other.
Your iPad is probably telling you that it doesn't have enough storage. Buying iCloud storage won't have any effect on your iPad. You can't increase an iPad's storage, you would have to delete something.

I can't restore my current phone info to my new iphone until I get the original iphone backed up. Everything online seems to be setup and working, but my phone still won;t recognize the account. Should I delete the accoutn on my phone an dstart again? Will I loose all my info in my Itunes account?  Please help!!! This is driving my crazy!!!
I thought they called these smart phones? This is a lot of work with no end in sight so far. :-(

Did you click the Verify Now link on the verification email from Apple?

  • Says I've reached the maximum of free accounts for my device. It's a used iPhone 4s. Trying to activate find my iPhone. Please help!?

We bought our son a used iPhone 4s almost 2 years ago. It was recently lost, but we were lucky enough to get it back. As a precaution in case it's lost or stolen again I'm trying to activate find my iPhone, but it tells me I have to have iCloud. But iCloud keeps telling me I have reached the maximum number of free accounts for this device. We have never had an iCloud account, so I'm assuming it was from the original owner. I have no way of contacting this person anymore because their eBay account is no longer active. The phone was factory reset when we bought it, and we reset it again today trying to see if that would fix it, but he lost all his stuff for nothing. We also updated the software. Is there anything we can do about this? Or at least maybe a different app that can track a phone that doesn't require iCloud? I don't know anything about Apple devices. Thanks so much!

It's a really bad idea to post your iPhone's serial number and I've asked the Hosts to remove it.
Any one device can create only three iCloud accounts. As you have apparently already created three accounts (or if it's a used phone the previous owner did) you cannot create any more one it. This is tied to the hardware, not the account, and there is no way round it.
You can create a new iCloud account on another iOS device or on a Mac, and then you will be able to sign into that on your iPhone.

  • Maximum number of iCloud accounts on iPad 1 with iOS 5.

I recently sold my old iPad 1 online, however, I was informed by the person who purchased the iPad that he was no longer able to create iCloud accounts on the iPad because it said that the maximum number of iCloud accounts for that device had been exceeded. Is there any way to use iCloud on iPad 1 in such a situation? Will a factory reset help?

Any device, iOS or OS X, has a lifetime limit of how many new iCloud accounts can be actived using it, which is 3.  Once that number of iCloud accounts has been actived from that device, that device cannot be used any longer to make any new iCloud accounts.  There is no way around that restriction.
You can use that device with whatever existing iCloud account you wish to set up on it, but you cannot use it to create any new iCloud accounts.
The person who bought your iPad will have to initially create their iCloud account from another Apple device.  Once created, they can use their iCloud account on your old iPad.

  • HT5622 "The maximum number of free accounts have been activated on this iphone" message is received when I try to set up iCloud.  How can I overcome this problem please?

I tried to set up icloud on my iphone 4 and I get this message that "the maximum number of free accounts have  been activated on this iphone".  My iphone was used by someone else before I got it.  How do I deactivate these accounts or overcome this problem?

You were trying to create a new Apple ID for icloud.  But once the device reaches is max allowed to create IDs then you can't create more.  That's your situation now.  To create a new account you must use another device or computer.
You can't deactivate or turn back the clock.

  • I have an apple id but when i want regester with icloud on my iphone  I get the message "THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF FREE ACCOUNTS HAVE BEEN ACTIVATED ON THIS IPHONE."

I have an apple id but when i want regester with icloud on my iphone  I get the message "THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF FREE ACCOUNTS HAVE BEEN ACTIVATED ON THIS IPHONE."
On the web of icloud when i try to sign in with apple ID i get the Message "THIS APPLE ID IS VALID BUT IS NOT AN ICLOUD ACCOUNT"
Hence i cant create Icloud account.
please let me know how i can resolve the above mentioned issue
    Thanks.

Apple limits iOS devices to three free iCloud accounts, & once that limit is reached on an iOS device you can no longer create a new account on that device. The solution is to create the account on a computer or another iOS device, then set that account up on your present iOS device.

Then you'll have to use another iOS device or Mac running OS X Lion or higher to create a new account for you to use on your phone.  If you don't have one, perhaps a friend would allow you to create and account on their device (note: this will use one of their three maximum accounts).  To do this, they would need to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which will delete the account from their device but not from iCloud), then allow you to sign back in with your ID to create the new account.  Then tap Delete Account to delete the new account from their device, and finally, sign back in with their iCloud ID to restore their iCloud account to their device.  Then you can sign in with your ID on your phone in Settings>iCloud and use the new account.
