I wan to start with sql

i decided to buy ibm server with 48 gb ram and two xeon cpu E5 - 2620 2.0 ghz.
i wan to make it as RDP Server for 55 user , SQL server with database  (database size is  8 gb) and IIS server(in iis i wan to configure one site which is use data base of sql )
it is possibale to all these things will manage on my server (ibm server with 48 gb ram and two xeon cpu E5 - 2620 2.0 ghz. ) ?
if yes then plz tell me how ?
if no then plz give me proper solutions (What is requirement ?).

 it as RDP Server for 55 user
RDP for 55 users is not possible only 3-4 users at a timre can connect to windows machine that too also depends on license you take. If 55 users connect to windows machine Via RDP you might get OOM at windows OS level with SQL Server running on it

  • Get started with sql expres

    hi,
    1-how many data bases can you create with sql express
    2-can you also create data bases in sql 2012 through GUI ,so whitout any knowledge of  command line?
    3-how many GB support has SQL express?
    4- I think this edition is free!
    thanks
    johan
    h.david

    1-I see you are limited to 1GB per instance ,what if you need more ,is there a way to manipulate it?
    I hope you are talking about memotry.To be correct SQL server 2012 and onwards Database engine of Express edition can use MORE THAN 1G memory. Its incorrectly written in books online I tried getting this changed but MS pays little attention on petty things.
    If you read this support article
    "Starting with SQL Server 2012, these memory limits are enforced only for the database cache (buffer pool). The rest of the caches in the SQL Server memory manager can use much more memory than is specified by these edition limits. For example,
    a SQL Server 2012 Express edition can use only a maximum size of 1.4 GB for its database cache. Other caches (such as the procedure cache, the metadata cache, and so on) can consume memory up to the size specified by the "max server memory" configuration."
    No you cannot manipulate more than what is provided by Microsoft. Plus we have not put limitation its MS which has put it.
    2- in which circumstances  you need more than 1GB per instance ,can you give me a little example?
    You *might be* able to manage things with just more than 1 G but if you run many queries which does select * and many alter index rebuild this will require excessive memory then your queries will become super slow. What could have finished in 20 mins might
    end up taking 3-4 hrs or even give you Out of memory condition
    3-I see also you have 10 GB per data base can you manipulate 10 GB and make it more when nedeed?
    10 G limit is only for data files the log files can grow much greater than 10 G. In express edition you can have database with 9.9 G data file and 30 G log file. If you need more switch to developer edition it costs just 50 $

  • Not 'Getting started with SQL server' but 'Getting SQL server started'

    As a developer, I hate it when I lose valuable time because Windows 'is not working' and thus I can not work.
    I don't know what would be the best forum to post this, please let me know if there is a better one.
    Today after, a Windows Update and a reboot SQL server won't start anymore.
    The error in the event log:
    The SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) service terminated with the following service-specific error:
    An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions.
    I stopped the firewall, but the problem remains.
    As it is apparently not the firewall I have no idea how to resolve this problem, any suggestions welcome.
    Thanks :(

  • Start with SQL+ on Windows

    Hi,
    I'm trying to start SQLPlus on my W'xp 32 and have some confusions how to configure it.
    In all help linkgs there is ORACLE_HOME var mentioned but I don't have it and even after I created this it still doesn't work.
    there is also tnsnames.ora file used for connection which I don't have.
    I downloaded:
    instantclient-sqlplus-win32-11.2.0.1.0
    instantclient-basic-win32-11.2.0.1.0
    I also have sql developer pack intalled on my PC: sqldeveloper-2.1.1.64.45, which works fine with my Oracle db.
    All those packs just unzipped and don't require any actual installation, just run .exe from that folder, so I'm not sure how to configure all.
    Can anybody guide me how to make sql+ working ?
    Tx
    Trent

    ORACLE_HOME is the variable which is set when you installs the ORACLE in your machine.. at client side or at serverside.
    You will have the network folder then admin inside that then you will find the tnsnames.ora and lintener.ora and sqlnet.ora etc.
    all these files are used if your server in on the another machine...
    if you have installed the oracle run time or server side full without error then you will be able to open the
    sql*plus
    if still problem then come with the error or problem which you are facing...
    Good Luck..

  • Starting with sql

    Hello!!
    I've got two computers, and one of them with ora11g. I can connect to it throught EM, and now I'm wondering how could I launch sql sentences to it.
    I could access to the windows 2003 console through remote desktop connection, but I don't know If there are any other way to do it.
    Thanks.

    Sounds like you want to access your 11g database on the 1st PC from the 2nd PC?
    As Daniel said, you need an Oracle client drivers - these will provide the communication layer and link between the client and server. I suggest you download the Oracle Instant Client driver set and the SQL*Plus add-on for it. Tiny downloads.
    Unzip. Add a TNSNAMES.ORA to the directory and set the TNS_HOME environmental variable to it. Run SQL*Plus and connect to the database in order to throw "sql sentences" at it.
    It should be that simply if done correctly.

  • Issue with SQL Developer 4.1 Early Adopter 2 - start sql-script by "@"

    Hi,
    today i realized, that starting a sql-script by writing @scriptname.sql in a sql worksheet and press F9 to start the script, does not work anymore.
    With EA2 there is always an error message shown like "unkown command" with some strange characters "" in the script logging window.
    The sql-scripts are located in a filesystem folder the os environment variable SQLPATH points to.
    In Version 4.0.x this worked perfect! Is this a planned "feature" or just a bug in EA2 fixed in later EA versions?
    In addition, when i open such a sqlscript with the file open menu in sqldeveloper the content of the sqlscript is not shown in the script window. There are only some none printable characters "" displayed in the sqlworksheet, and not the "select ..." a normal texteditor shows.
    Thanks in advance

  • How to use SQL filtercondition 'Start with' and 'connect by' in ADF's LOV?

    Hello every!
    I can not use 'Start with' and 'connect by' with parameter in creating ADF's LOV?
    How could I do with it?
    Alex

    assuming you are using adf 11g,
    You need to use View Criteria with the View Object attribute that has a LOV model.
    Follow this, to get some idea http://andrejusb.blogspot.com/2008/12/cascading-lovs-in-oracle-adf-11g-update.html

  • Migrating from Sql Server tables with column name starting with integer

    hi,
    i'm trying to migrate a database from sqlserver but there are a lot of tables with column names starting with integer ex: *8420_SubsStatusPolicy*
    i want to make an offline migration so when i create the scripts these column are created with the same name.
    can we create rules, so when a column like this is going to be migrated, to append a character in front of it?
    when i use Copy to Oracle option it renames it by default to A8420_SubsStatusPolicy
    Edited by: user8999602 on Apr 20, 2012 1:05 PM

    Hi,
    Oracle doesn't allow object names to start with an integer. I'll check to see what happens during a migration about changing names as I haven't come across this before.

    Total_PR - Total number of PR accounts in the overall structure
    My_Total_NPR - Number of my child NPR accounts which doest not include itself.
    Total_NPR - Total number of NPR accounts in the overall structure
    *PR stand for payment responsible, for instance the payment responsible for Account 158 is 158 (Paying_Account_ID), so the Total_PR for 158 is 3 (158, 159, 160)
    *NPR stand for Non payment responsible, for instance the payment responsible for Account 159 is 158 (Paying_Account_ID), so the Total_NPR for 159 is 1
    This is the expected result, Any advice much appreciated. Thanks

    CREATE TABLE "SYSTEM"."ACCOUNT" ...
    Don't create your own objects in the SYSTEM schema, or any schema that comes with the database. Create a separate schema, and put your objects into it. You'll have fewer security problems, and migrating to a new database will be easier.
    Here's one way to can get the aggregates that you want:
    WITH     got_descendants          AS
         SELECT     CONNECT_BY_ROOT account_id     AS ancestor_id
         ,     paying_account_id
         ,     LEVEL                    AS lvl
         FROM     account
         CONNECT BY NOCYCLE     PRIOR account_id     = parent_account_id
              AND          account_id          != parent_account_id
    SELECT       ancestor_id
    ,       COUNT (CASE WHEN lvl             > 1
                      AND  ancestor_id  = paying_account_id THEN 1 END)     AS my_total_pr
    ,       COUNT (CASE WHEN ancestor_id  = paying_account_id THEN 1 END)     AS total_pr
    ,       COUNT (CASE WHEN lvl             > 1
                      AND  ancestor_id != paying_account_id THEN 1 END)     AS my_total_npr
    ,       COUNT (CASE WHEN ancestor_id != paying_account_id THEN 1 END)     AS total_npr
    FROM       got_descendants
    GROUP BY  ancestor_id
    ;Output:
    `             MY_         MY_
                TOTAL TOTAL TOTAL TOTAL
    ANCESTOR_ID   _PR   _PR  _NPR  _NPR
            158     2     3     0     0
            159     0     0     0     1
            160     0     0     0     1
            181     0     1     0     0
            183     0     1     0     0
          24669     0     1     3     3
          24670     0     1     1     1
          24671     0     1     0     0
        3385217     0     1     0     0This gives you the right numbers, but how can we get them in an order that reflects the hierarchy, with the columns (such as lvl) that are derived from the hierarchy?
    One way would be to do two CONNECT BY queries; one without a START WITH clause (like the one above) that gets the aggregates, and the other with a START WITH clause (like your original query), that is in the right order, and has columns such as level_label and level. We could join the result sets and get exactly what we want. I'll leave that as an exercise.
    Here's another way, that gets the right results with only one CONNECT BY query:
    WITH     got_descendants          AS
         SELECT     CONNECT_BY_ROOT account_id     AS ancestor_id
         ,     paying_account_id
         ,     account_id
         ,     LEVEL                    AS lvl
         ,     CONNECT_BY_ISCYCLE          AS cycle
         ,     CASE
                  WHEN  CONNECT_BY_ROOT account_id
                      = CONNECT_BY_ROOT parent_account_id
                  THEN  ROWNUM
              END                    AS r_num
         FROM     account
         CONNECT BY NOCYCLE     PRIOR account_id     = parent_account_id
              AND          account_id          != parent_account_id
         ORDER SIBLINGS BY     account_id     -- Optional
    ,     got_o_num     AS
         SELECT     got_descendants.*
         ,     MIN (r_num) OVER (PARTITION BY  account_id)     AS o_num
         ,     MAX (lvl)   OVER (PARTITION BY  account_id)      AS max_lvl
         FROM     got_descendants
    SELECT       LPAD ( ' '

                      AND  ancestor_id != paying_account_id THEN 1 END)     AS my_total_npr

  • SQL query to show "starts with" rather than "is like"

    Hi friends,
    I've written a query to show all BPs we have sold to in a particular Zip Code region. I have used WHERE T1.[ZipCode] like '%[%0]%'  but this brings up everyone where the zip code contains the phrase:
    I want to search for Zip Codes starting "BT" it will bring in post codes like MK41 9BT.
    How can I tell the report to bring in BPs where the Zip Code starts with "BT"
    Thank you

    Hi Tim,
    Try this option also ,
    WHERE left(T0.[e_mail],2)  like '[%0]%%'
    OR
    WHERE left(T0.[e_mail],2)  =  '[%0]'

  • How to make column headers in table in PDF report appear bold while datas in table appear regular from c# windows forms with sql server2008 using iTextSharp

    Hi my name is vishal
    For past 10 days i have been breaking my head on how to make column headers in table appear bold while datas in table appear regular from c# windows forms with sql server2008 using iTextSharp.
    Given below is my code in c# on how i export datas from different tables in sql server to PDF report using iTextSharp:
    using System;
    using System.Collections.Generic;
    using System.ComponentModel;
    using System.Data;
    using System.Drawing;
    using System.Linq;
    using System.Text;
    using System.Threading.Tasks;
    using System.Windows.Forms;
    using System.Data.SqlClient;
    using iTextSharp.text;
    using iTextSharp.text.pdf;
    using System.Diagnostics;
    using System.IO;
    namespace DRRS_CSharp
    public partial class frmPDF : Form
    public frmPDF()
    InitializeComponent();
    private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
    Document doc = new Document(PageSize.A4.Rotate());
    var writer = PdfWriter.GetInstance(doc, new FileStream("AssignedDialyzer.pdf", FileMode.Create));
    doc.SetMargins(50, 50, 50, 50);
    doc.SetPageSize(new iTextSharp.text.Rectangle(iTextSharp.text.PageSize.LETTER.Width, iTextSharp.text.PageSize.LETTER.Height));
    doc.Open();
    PdfPTable table = new PdfPTable(6);
    table.TotalWidth =530f;
    table.LockedWidth = true;
    PdfPCell cell = new PdfPCell(new Phrase("Institute/Hospital:AIIMS,NEW DELHI", FontFactory.GetFont("Arial", 14, iTextSharp.text.Font.BOLD, BaseColor.BLACK)));
    cell.Colspan = 6;
    cell.HorizontalAlignment = 0;
    table.AddCell(cell);
    Paragraph para=new Paragraph("DCS Clinical Record-Assigned Dialyzer",FontFactory.GetFont("Arial",16,iTextSharp.text.Font.BOLD,BaseColor.BLACK));
    para.Alignment = Element.ALIGN_CENTER;
    iTextSharp.text.Image png = iTextSharp.text.Image.GetInstance("logo5.png");
    png.ScaleToFit(105f, 105f);
    png.Alignment = Element.ALIGN_RIGHT;
    SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection("Data Source=NPD-4\\SQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=DRRS;Integrated Security=true");
    SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand("Select d.dialyserID,r.errorCode,r.dialysis_date,pn.patient_first_name,pn.patient_last_name,d.manufacturer,d.dialyzer_size,r.start_date,r.end_date,d.packed_volume,r.bundle_vol,r.disinfectant,t.Technician_first_name,t.Technician_last_name from dialyser d,patient_name pn,reprocessor r,Techniciandetail t where pn.patient_id=d.patient_id and r.dialyzer_id=d.dialyserID and t.technician_id=r.technician_id and d.deleted_status=0 and d.closed_status=0 and pn.status=1 and r.errorCode<106 and r.reprocessor_id in (Select max(reprocessor_id) from reprocessor where dialyzer_id=d.dialyserID) order by pn.patient_first_name,pn.patient_last_name", conn);
    conn.Open();
    SqlDataReader dr;
    dr = cmd.ExecuteReader();
    table.AddCell("Reprocessing Date");
    table.AddCell("Patient Name");
    table.AddCell("Dialyzer(Manufacturer,Size)");
    table.AddCell("No.of Reuse");
    table.AddCell("Verification");
    table.AddCell("DialyzerID");
    while (dr.Read())
    table.AddCell(dr[2].ToString());
    table.AddCell(dr[3].ToString() +"_"+ dr[4].ToString());
    table.AddCell(dr[5].ToString() + "-" + dr[6].ToString());
    table.AddCell("@count".ToString());
    table.AddCell(dr[12].ToString() + "-" + dr[13].ToString());
    table.AddCell(dr[0].ToString());
    dr.Close();
    table.SpacingBefore = 15f;
    doc.Add(para);
    doc.Add(png);
    doc.Add(table);
    doc.Close();
    System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("AssignedDialyzer.pdf");
    if (MessageBox.Show("Do you want to save changes to AssignedDialyzer.pdf before closing?", "DRRS", MessageBoxButtons.YesNoCancel, MessageBoxIcon.Exclamation) == DialogResult.Yes)
    var writer2 = PdfWriter.GetInstance(doc, new FileStream("AssignedDialyzer.pdf", FileMode.Create));
    else if (MessageBox.Show("Do you want to save changes to AssignedDialyzer.pdf before closing?", "DRRS", MessageBoxButtons.YesNoCancel, MessageBoxIcon.Exclamation) == DialogResult.No)
    this.Close();
    The above code executes well with no problem at all!
    As you can see the file to which i create and save and open my pdf report is
    AssignedDialyzer.pdf.
    The column headers of table in pdf report from c# windows forms using iTextSharp are
    "Reprocessing Date","Patient Name","Dialyzer(Manufacturer,Size)","No.of Reuse","Verification" and
    "DialyzerID".
    However the problem i am facing is after execution and opening of document is my
    column headers in table in pdf report from
    c# and datas in it all appear in bold.
    I have browsed through net regarding to solve this problem but with no success.
    What i want is my pdf report from c# should be similar to following format which i was able to accomplish in vb6,adodb with MS access using iTextSharp.:
    Given below is report which i have achieved from vb6,adodb with MS access using iTextSharp
    I know that there has to be another way to solve my problem.I have browsed many articles in net regarding exporting sql datas to above format but with no success!
    Is there is any another way to solve to my problem on exporting sql datas from c# windows forms using iTextSharp to above format given in the picture/image above?!
    If so Then Can anyone tell me what modifications must i do in my c# code given above so that my pdf report from c# windows forms using iTextSharp will look similar to image/picture(pdf report) which i was able to accomplish from
    vb6,adodb with ms access using iTextSharp?
    I have approached Sound Forge.Net for help but with no success.
    I hope anyone/someone truly understands what i am trying to ask!
    I know i have to do lot of modifications in my c# code to achieve this level of perfection but i dont know how to do it.
    Can anyone help me please! Any help/guidance in solving this problem would be greatly appreciated.
    I hope i get a reply in terms of solving this problem.

  • Upgrade 2010 to 2013 with SQL Reporting Services

    The first two have to do with reporting services.  I'm trying to workout how to go about getting these errors to go away.  I don't want to remove SQL reporting or migrate a broken site and fix it later.  FYI it does migrate but reporting services
    is of course broken.
    So what I was wanting to do was to upgrade SQL Reporting Services for SharePoint 2010 from 2008 SQL to 2014 SQL first.  This would be in the hopes that it would make the migration to SharePoint 2013 work as the assemblies would change to the proper
    version.
    Can anyone elaborate on my upgrade path?
    I'm still looking up the "Claims Based" authentication thing.  I've found an article on how to migrate it so not a big deal.  I do wonder however if this is tied to the issue I saw with default.aspx and home.aspx being denied to all users
    after I did migrate a content db.
    David Jenkins

    Hi David,
    The following sections describe the basic steps needed to upgrade or migrate from 2008 versions of Reporting Services SharePoint mode to 2014 version.
    SQL Server 2008 R2 to SQL Server 2014
    Starting environment: SQL Server 2008 R2, SharePoint 2010.
    Ending environment: SQL Server 2014, SharePoint 2010.
    In-place upgrade is supported and there is no down time for your SharePoint environment.
    Install the SQL Server 2014 version of the Reporting Services add-in for SharePoint on each web front-end in the farm. You can install the add-in by using the SQL Server 2014 installation wizard or by downloading the add-in.
    Run SQL Server 2014 installation to upgrade SharePoint mode for each “report server”. The SQL Server installation wizard will install the Reporting Services Service and create a new Service application.
    If you also want the ending environment to run SharePoint 2013, you need to complete a database-attach upgrade of the SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013.
    For more scenarios information, please refer to:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143747.aspx#bkmk_sharePoint_scenarios
    Per the supported combinations of SharePoint and Reported Services Components, I’d recommend you firstly upgrade Reporting Services to 2014, then upgrade SharePoint to 2013.

  • Toplink with sql server

    I have sucessfully used Toplink with Oracle. ow I have to use it with MS SQL server and I am having problems. First of all, in the Mapping Worbench, the only SQL server driver listed is weblogic.jdbc.mssqlserver4.Driver. Why can't I use the regular ms sql driver, com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver? Why should the mapping workbench be tied to Weblogic? If one did not have Weblogic, would it be impossible to use Toplink with SQL server? Well, I have Weblogic, so I tried using the weblogic driver with the url jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://<host ip>:1433;DatabaseName=<db name>. When I try to connect, a dialog box appears that says: "java.sql.SQLException $$$$$$$$$$ License Exception $$$$$$$$$$ Missing license for: WebLogic Server 6.1. $$$$$$$$$$ License Exception $$$$$$$$$$ Username or password could be invalid." I have weblogic.jar in the classpath. I tried adding the line SET WLS61_HOME=M:\bea610\wlserver6.1 to workbench.cmd. It didn't help. Any suggestions?

    I already tried this. It does not work. I put the following jars in the classpath in workbench.cmd: msbase.jar;mssqlserver.jar;msutil.jar. Then I start workbench. When I try to enter com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver as the driver, I get an exception. Here is the stacktrace:

    If I ignore the exception and try to connect to the database anyway, it tries to use the weblogic driver.
    Next I manually edited the database xml file and put in the driver name automatically. When I bought up the mapping workbench again, it again threw an exception. However, the correct driver name was in the file, so it did finally let me connect to the database. So it seems there IS a bug, although it has to do with the GUI and not SQL server per se.

  • Loading "fixed length" text files in UTF8 with SQL*Loader

    Hi!
    We have a lot of files, we load with SQL*Loader into our database. All Datafiles have fixed length columns, so we use POSITION(pos1, pos2) in the ctl-file. Till now the files were in WE8ISO8859P1 and everything was fine.
    Now the source-system generating the files changes to unicode and the files are in UTF8!
    The SQL-Loader docu says "The start and end arguments to the POSITION parameter are interpreted in bytes, even if character-length semantics are in use in a datafile....."
    As I see this now, there is no way to say "column A starts at "CHARACTER Position pos1" and ends at "Character Position pos2".
    I tested with
    load data
    CHARACTERSET AL32UTF8
    LENGTH SEMANTICS CHARACTER
    replace ...
    in the .ctl file, but when the first character with more than one byte encoding (for example ü ) is in the file, all positions of that record are mixed up.
    Is there a way to load these files in UTF8 without changing the file-definition to a column-seperator?
    Thanks for any hints - charly

    I have not tested this but you should be able to achieve what you want by using LENGTH SEMANTICS CHARACTER and by specifying field lengths (e.g. CHAR(5)) instead of only their positions. You could still use the POSITION(*+n) syntax to skip any separator columns that contain only spaces or tabs.
    If the above does not work, an alternative would be to convert all UTF8 files to UTF16 before loading so that they become fixed-width.
