I want to create a Paid Books Account however, I already have a iTunes store account for creating Apps with complete contracts, tax,

I have created some books using the iBook author and in order to distribute content on the iBookstore I have been told electronically that I need a new Apple ID and password that is different to iTunes store account which I have already activated and completed contracts, tax information and bank information valid until 2013?
I want to create a Paid Books Account using the same email address, tax information and bank information. This has been most frustrating, as I cannot get passed the sign in section and there is no contact person I can speak to. I was of the understanding the iTunes connect account and the Developer programs which I paid good money for is all what I needed to be paid for selling iBooks on the iBookstore???
I only have one email address and wish to also use it for the Paid Books Account. I have books ready to be exported and published.
I am also having trouble locating and downloading iTunes Producer. I understand I need to have the Paid Books Account active to access the iTunes Producer program. Please help.

Did you use an existing Apple ID or create a new one just for paid books sales/distribution?

    Hi,
If you have made a backup at any time of your iPod in iTunes, it should be in Preferences, under Devices tab.
    In iTunes
    Open iTunes Preferences.
From the Preferences window click on the Devices.
Once you are there you should see a list under "Device Backups:".
Hover your mouse pointer to the device and in a little while it should display the serial number of the device (with an iPhone it will also display a phone number used with it and the IMEI code and with an iPad it will display the IMEI in addition to the serial number).

    Hi Lrwill,
If the apps that are on your son's iPad were purchased under his Dad's Apple ID, then signing your Apple ID onto the iPad will not help you with updating those apps.
Also, if the iPad was sync'd with his Dad's iTunes library, then hooking it up to your computer/iTunes library, will require you to reset the iPad, and everything that was loaded under the other Library and Apple ID will be wiped out.
Can you provide a little more info about what was set up under which Apple ID and what iTunes library the iPad was sync'd with?

  • Terms to be agreed when creating a Paid Books Account and submitting an iBook to the iBookstore

    Hi there everyone
I'm advising a client on the range of terms to be agreed when its creates an iBook using iBooks Author and then submits the iBook for publication on the iBookstore (using a Paid Books Account, not a Free Books Account).
From what I can glean from various sources, it seems the client needs to agree to:
    the iBooks Author 2.0 License Agreement, when downloading the iBooks Author app from the AppStore;
the eBook Agency/Commissionaire Distribution Agreement (when creating a Paid Books Account through iTunes Connect); and
the iTunes Connect Terms of Service when downloading iTunes Producer (the separate app through which one publishes an iBook to the iBookStore).
There are two things I'm not sure about though. The reason for my lack of certainty is that I don't have a US Tax ID and so cannot replicate the Paid Books Account sign-up process to the stage where I'd have to agree to the various terms and conditions. My  questions, please, are:
Am I correct in thinking that a person is required, when creating a Paid Books Account through iTunes Connect, to agree to the "eBook Agency/Commissionaire Distribution Agreement"?
If so, can anyone email me please ([email protected]) or provide a link to the latest version of the eBook Agency/Commissionaire Distribution Agreement? (I've seen a version online (http://outskirtspress.com/iBookStore_v3.pdf) but don't know whether it's the latest version; I'm thinking it's probably not).
When signing up for a Paid Books Account, is one also required to agree to the "PHG Terms and Conditions" and the "Publisher Program Terms and Conditions" that are attached to them, or is that optional?
Many thanks for any help. Much appreciated.
    Kind regards
    Richard

Any documents/agreements are obtained as part of a contract and not allowed to be distributed in an otherwise uncontrolled manner, which if done, could violate the agreement/contract.
You need to participate in the process to:
    1. Access the latest, binding versions of all agreements/contracts
    2. Possess a tax id/SSN to sign up.
If you have questions about the process, you should contact Apple directly.

Is there any way to open the paid book account without US Tax number?
No, except perhaps by using an aggregator.  Nobody here can tell you why Apple has the requirements it does, but there seem to be lots of people who meet them one way or another, and there are always other stores whose products can also be read on iOS devices, such as Kindle, Nook, Kobo, Googlebooks, and Sony, if producing for the iBookstore is too complex.

  • US EIN Number for Paid Book Account

I should have known better than to go down this path!
Although I basically  started doing the free books and due to what I perceive as tax issues possibly with three countries, I  had no intentions of getting a paid books account.... until last week  after going through the US Tax ID thread.
A problem on the forum is that many people ask for solutions - get them and  dont give any feedback which would help others following their path.
So I decided to apply for an EIN.
Dreading  being put on hold for an extended period as one poster suffered and  musty have had a large bill for the international call - I used a Phone card
( normally used for contacting  family back in the UK)  and set about the task.
I called at  8.30am Sydney time  ( I think 5.30pm est USA time)   Nobody  mentioned the usual  "select 1  for...select 2 for..."  which took about 1 minute.
a redirect got me to the right place and a very helpful, polite agent/operator or whatever title  the tax guys have, asked,  after I mentioned  an EIN was required-  if I had a filled in SS-4 - YES.. it does make it easier to get through the routine. ( download the PDF, print it off and  fill it in before you 'phone)
As per all the others, within 10 -12 minutes I was given an EIN number.  The blurb will follow by post eventually.
So painless and no heartache there....and the cost using the phone card ( CardCost was AU$10) the call cost- AU$0.20c!
    Now its dealing with Apple!
For those with a Free Book account thinking about getting a Paid Book account... you will need to open a new Apple I.D.,  which is non negotiable!
I decided on on a new ID name and opened a new email address.
Went through the iTunesstore "create ID" process - which  hiccuped - I went away for an hour so and on return tried again.. maybe Apple had not updated things  so fast .. but now a new ID application went through OK with the  usual existing information plus the new email and ID name.
Next come the questionnaire re your "stock"  of ePubs, PDFs for converting and digital rights.
I have 12 books which were in the free books - now withdrawn
Ignore the  top line  ooptions to name titles and its seems pointless to me asking what you have ready.. because  any author could go on to create 1000 books!
You are required to have a website - not a problem for me cos that's my "hobby"!   Others may  have a sinking feeling seeing this requirement.
    Don't  panic.. its about support.
Typical Apple they simply adjust a few bits from something they already have.. and while I understand "apps" need a support contact - I fail to see why an e-mail address is not enough ( for apps)  and to me its a complete waste of time ( and money for  some)  to  require  a website.
Afterall anybody with a buying a book which  has been reviewed and approved - may only want to e-mail a "well done"... any problems on the iPad are surely for Apple support to deal with!
Anyway... for those in a panic, as KT pointed out recently.. Facebook ( ugh) should be a suitable vehicle to offer  a point of contact and support.
The more adventurious can look at Wordpress and othe similar " blog" sites... or make  people like me happy and purchase a website.
Thas about it  - I have now  submitted the application and assume Apple will reply after they have confirned the EIN.
I think a lot of people start into these applications  - pre-programmed to expect Apple to make it dificult and while we understand chating across the world online or buy boots from New York and top hats from Hong Kong... most  people have a dread of tax offices in their own city let alone on the other side of  the planet.
patience and  bit of pre planning and preparation make it easy.

It took about a week for me. Make sure your email software doesn't treat mail from [email protected] as junk.

  • Support for setting up Paid book account ibook author

I want to set up a pid book account for ibook author. did get a US EIN (I am German), got meanwhile an ISBN, and filled the form for a paid book account some 6-8 weeks ago. No response at all ydet from apple. I thenwanted to set up another account with another ID (as I am thinking my first try went into a black hole) - but then the syygtem said then my EIN was already used by another user.
The Genius bar in my apple strore could nto help, and the support from itunes neither.
Does anybody can give a hint whom to ask in Apple what happened?
    Harald

Check your spam folder for message from Apple with the address [email protected] That's the From: address they use for correspondence regarding your iTunes Connect account.

  • More than one paid books account?

I made a paid books account.
in spite of being 100% shure to have done so, the support said (by e-mail) it is NOT a paid, but a free account.  without giving further instruction what to do now. or explaining if the status "free" might be due to the fact that it not "validated" yet.
now I wonder if I should make a new one (with another apple id), just in case the account is  really not a paid books one. I ask that to avois further confusion.

You could always create 2 groups in address book, one for business and one for personal. You will then have an "all contacts" list which will have them mixed, but you can also view by group, which will show just business or just personal. When you need to export, just export the business group.

  • I applied for a Paid Books account, but did not receive a confirmation email.

I applied for a Paid Books account, but did not receive a confirmation email. Now when I try to log in to upload another book, I get a message that says,
"The iTunes Store account entered has already applied to distribute content on the iBookstore. To continue with this application, you must enter a different iTunes account." How do I even log in to the account that I already applied for???

Did you use an existing Apple ID or create a new one just for paid books sales/distribution?

  • How can I transition from a free books account to a paid books account?

I created a free books account (based on my existing itunes ID) to post 2 books just to test out the process.  Now that I feel like I know what I'm doing, I'd like to update a paid book, but can't figure out how to go about doing it.  I created a second Itunes ID to create a paid book account, but then the SSN I used for that account was the same (obviously) as the one I used for the free account and that's where I ran up against a wall.  What to do now?
    Thanks!

You  will need to retain your free books account - its not 'transferable" in any way.
You will need to apply for for a Paid Books account, new "username" email address is required.
You will need to fulfil the  requirements in the Contracts and Banking section of  your "new account" - you can use the same bank and credit card details and you will to apply to the USA tax office for an EIN.
    I used this.
1-267-941-1099   USA IRS Telephone    - you  may have to  change the country code from 1
http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fss4.pdf     Its better to download teh PDF, print it off, fill it in and have it with you when you  phone the IRS.  Try to calculate your call to be  6.30pm  East Coast US time - they work till 7pm   so at  6.30pm.. it is usually a quiet  time and should  mean no  waiting online for an agent.

  • Has anyone successfully been approved for a Paid Books account?

I submit my completed application for a Paid Books account over 7 business days ago, and I've yet to hear so much as a confirmation of its reciept yet. Judging by the existing conversations in this forum, this is not unusal, it seems.
Thus, my questions is this: has anyone successfully been approved for a Paid Books account? One success story would be enough to inspire some hope while the nail-biting waiting for a response continues.

It took a while to get approved and when I submitted the iBook, it took a while to have the book approved. But today it was approved. They approved the sample and the paid ibook at the same time (eReading: The Best Thing). I submitted them on the same day. It was indeed a nailbiting affair

I want to set up an icloud account for work, separate from our personal accounts.  We all have iPad 2.  How do I do that?

You can set up a second ("secondary") iCloud account on your device by going to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Add Account>iCloud.  Secondary accounts do have limitations. Only the primary account can be used for Photo Stream, Bookmarks, Documents, iCloud Backup and Find My Device.  Push mail only works for the primary account; secondary account mail is fetch.

  • I just bought a macbook pro and want to use my own iCloud account for my iPhone. How do I sign off of the current account on my iPhone and sign in with my own iCloud account?

I just bought a macbook pro and want to use my own iCloud account for my iPhone. How do I sign off of the current account on my iPhone and sign in with my own iCloud account i set up my mac?

On your phone, Go to "Settings", "iCloud", scroll to the bottom and "sign out."  Assuming you have the the account password/security info of the current account, it will delete everything iCloud related upon your approval (don't worry, everything will remain in the cloud.)  Once signed out, in the same settings location (under "Settings", "iCloud") sign in using your Apple ID and Password.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can anyone recommend an external storage device to supplement my mac book air?  I already have a time capsule but want the new device to replicate the data on that so ideally would like a device that i can connect to the time capsule through a cable.

Can anyone recommend an external storage device to supplement my mac book air?  I already have a time capsule but want the new device to replicate the data on that so ideally would like a device that i can connect to the time capsule through a cable.

    Hi CJR
I'm not sure how Time Capsule can be replicated onto your external drive but there is a USB port on the back of TC that can be hooked up to any recent external drive.
Another thing to think about , besides a Time Capsule failure, is the theft of your Time Capsule, so it might be a good idea to consider separating any redundant back-up from your Time Capsule or both my be stolen.
TC will back up until full and then begin deleting the oldest back-ups.  Mine is a 2TB Time capsule.
My back-up plan is as follows:
    1.  Macbook Air back-up on Time Capsule though Time Machine backs up everything - I think it's about every 30 min or so.
    2.  Contacts, reminders, appointments, notes, email are backed up through iCloud.
    3.  iTunes and non-itunes purchased music is on iMatch (and no need to back-up) and any non-iTunes music is backed up on an HP external drive (in case Time Capsule dies)
    4.  Photos are on my MacBook Air and are backed up on my HP external drive.
    5.  Office documents (Excel, Powerpoint, Access etc) are stored in a Skydrive app (like iCloud) and Skydrive syncs these docuemnts with the MS  cloud and my old PC and does not alter their native format like storing in iCloud would do.
    Cheers
