I want to download new version but i dont want to turn off kaspersky to do it
firefox recomended to download an extra but said I would have to turn off my virus protection to allow this (Kaspersky) as I have had a virus when it was turned off I am not prepared to turn it off again but need a solution for the problems I have been having apart from poor reception which is not the problem with the computer its with the carrier and the lines,both we are trying to have fixed

Reinstall the app

Why does Firefox insist that I'm still using version 3.whatever when I have faithfully downloaded new versions when it tells me to do so -- most recently version 8.whatever (today). If "downloading" isn't enough and there's also an "install" step, I have yet to find anywhere in the Firefox that tells me how to do so. I have restarted my computer, but that doesn't seem to make any difference. It still tells me I'm using an outdated version that soon will not be supported.

This is the same as has occurred when prior versions were nearing their end-of-life. Support for Firefox 3.6 versions is likely to end in the first quarter of 2012.

Are you launching Numbers from an icon in your Dock? Installing the update does not change the Dock icons & it does not remove the older versions. Go to your Applications folder & launch the new Numbers from there then right-click on the Dock icon & select Options > Keep in Dock.
Installing new versions of iWork has never replaced existing versions. This is nothing new. The only thing new is that the '09 apps are moved to an iWork '09 folder if they were purchased from the Mac App Store. If they were installed from disk they should already be in a separate folder in Applications. -

If the user agent string is correct, how did you install the new version? You mentioned downloading the new version but did not mention running the setup file that was downloaded to install the new version. -
Internet and firefox worked, i downloaded new version which would not work due to proxy settings. I then deleted download and thought i could revert to current version but now I am unable to connect to the internet at all using mozilla or explorer. My internet connection is fine as Im able to use my laptop. Please help im not very good with computers. Thanks.

On opening my Itunes it asks if I want to download latest version - usually I say yes and away it goes, but lately it redirects me to the Apple site like I am downloading it for the first time and i am scared if I go through with it that it will create a new Itunes and my old one will be lost and all my songs - is this happening to anybody else - will it override your old itunes?? Isn't any data imported in the new profile?
When you reset Firefox then a new profile is created and some personal data (bookmarks, history, cookies, passwords, form data) is automatically imported and the current profile folder will be moved to the desktop to an "Old Firefox Data" folder.
Installed extensions and other customizations (toolbars, prefs) that you have made are lost and need to be redone.
It is possible to recover data from the old profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

Office 2011 is the current boxed version for the Mac. The two versions are Home and Business. The difference (besides price) is that the Business version includes Outlook. Both contain Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
Actually, the Home version also has Outlook hidden on the disk. If you decided later you want to use Outlook, you can call Microsoft for an unlock code to install it from the Home version disk. The unlock cost is essentially the difference between the Home and Business versions.
You mentioned Office 2013, but that's the current Windows version. MS hasn't really stated one way or another if there will be a feature comparable boxed Mac version. If there is, it looks like we won't see it until sometime in 2014. To get the current functionality of Office 2013 in a Mac product, you'd have to purchase the subscription based Office 365.
It does depend on your needs. Often, Office must be used for true compatibility with people you work, or collaborate with. It also has many features the free alternatives don't offer, and can't import or replicate. Otherwise, as Gary noted, Open Office is a good free choice. -

Not if you first do a sync and have iTunes make a backup. However, if your only copy of the iTunes data is in the Touch, then you need to first copy the data to a new iTunes Library using third-party software such as Phone To Mac.

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop
