First step would be to make yourself familiar with InDesign desktop version.
Whatever you intend to achieve, do it there manually. (see regular app docs or forums)
Then try to automate your steps with scripting (see scripting docs or forum)
If you can do it with a script in the desktop version, that script will likely also run in ID Server. (see server forum).
If you can specify missing features not achievable thru scripting or manual use, reconsider to write a plugin (this forum).
A seasoned C++ programmer will need a few months to learn the basics, wade thru tons of documentation etc. Alternatively consider to hire a consultant to do the development work for you.

I was attempting to open a document from a frequently used site, I had never been on, on my new mac however. I attempted to open the pdf file and was given the option of which program to use to open it, I mistakenly clicked use always and firefox as the program with which to open pdf files. I do not know how to undo this or what I should do in the future to access the pdf files.

Are you launching Pages from an icon in your Dock? Installing the update does not change the Dock icons & it does not remove the older versions. Go to your Applications folder & launch the new Pages from there.

Why does reader freeze while opening some pdf files and others open instantaneously?

I use pdf files created from CamScanner and shared from DropBox. In DropBox, many times (over 50%) while opening the PDF the process freezes and the error message is Adobe Reader is not responding. If you close the program, and re-open the file, it opens fine. I have saved these files to my computer and the same issue occurs. The files are 100-500kb, so I do not think size is the issue. I have reinstalled Reader (11.1.10) and there is no improvement.

I am using a Mac with OS X Yosemite Ver. 10.10.1, Adobe Version 11.0..1 (which is the latest for Mac)
It is an online PDF and I am using Safari Ver. 8.0.2

I want to use a PDF file as the help file of another program.
I have found somewhere an incomplete description of the command line parameters of Acrobat Reader.
It described how to open a file and jump to its given page.
I have written the following batch file based on that.
rem Open pdf (prm1) with Acrobat reader at given page (prm2)
"%adobe_rdr%\AcroRd32.exe" /N "zoom=73&page=%2=OpenActions" %1
The following batch file opens the search dialog:
rem Open pdf (prm1) with Acrobat reader
rem and search for something (prm2)
"%adobe_rdr%\AcroRd32.exe" /N "zoom=73&navpanes=1=OpenActions&search=%2" %1
I need the simple find field instead of the complicated search window.

HELP! opening a pdf file and using page view

Hi everyone!
I'm doing a school project in which I'm trying to develop an app that opens a pdf file from the device memory (ipad or iphone) and lets the user turn pages forward and backward by swiping on the screen. Although I have very basic knowledge of C++ and Objective C programming, I find myself completely lost and don't know how nor where to start. I'd be pleased if you could help me or at least give me a starting point to develop my app.

I would like to know how to do it too; but I am still using Developer 6i.
I have a bunch of PDF files and would like to print them inside of FORM.

Need to open existing .pdf files and add footer, then save files again

I would like to know how to go about opening a folder containing .pdf files, adding a footer to each file, then saving the file.
I wanted to check first and see if this would be possible and if so, how to go about doing so. Is this something that can be accomplished in a batch file?
We are using Acrobat 5.0 to create the .pdf, but I don't know if we need a newer version to accomplish what I am looking to do.

I have recently downloaded Adobe Reader 10.0 but when in firefox on the internet I want to open a PDF file on Company Announcements from Sydney Morning Herald Share Market news all I get is a black screen - why?

Previously when I had Adobe Acrobat 8 on my computer when I clicked on the PDF file on the Stock Exchange through Firefox It would immediately open the file. I have tried to reload the earlier version of Adobe Acrobat but it they will not allow me to do so.

If anyone is reading this still looking for what caused the issue and how to fix it here is what I discovered.
The antivirus program our company uses, Bitdefender Antivirus Plus, was causing some of the PDF files not to open. After troubleshooting the different modules and settings the culprit was..
Scan SSL in Privacy Control Settings. Turning it OFF solved the problem and all the PDF files that previously would not open now open just fine. This issue has been sent to Bitdefender for them to review. If you use a different antivirus program and are having this issue try locating the Scan SSL setting and see if turning it off solves the problem.

I want to program an application where I open a txt file (existing in one of the the RT machines' folders), read the first row, and output its data through an AO channel. The drivers I should use is DAQmx v7.1, and the Labview RT v.7

What exactly are you having problems with? Reading a text file can be done a number of ways. Look at the File I/O palette and check out Read Lines From File or Read Characters From File. There are string to number conversion functions on the string palette (i.e. Scan From String). There are also numberous shipping examples on using DAQmx for analog out. If you have a specific problem or question, please post back with additional details.

This should have been trivial, but isn't. Well, it isn't that difficult either. Here's the trick:
Create a DataSocket Object. For the URL, type: file:c:\ni\lookout5\test.txt[text]
Leave the Update mode as Automatic for now. Connect a Switch to the Connect member of the DataSocket object.
On the panel, drag-and-drop the DataSocket.data.txt. Toggle the Switch and voila you have the text in Lookout! I have attached an example (detach the txt file to your C drive; or change the path in the DataSocket object).
