I want to put my itunes music on an itouch that my daughter handed down to me, but there is no sync option

I can't figure out how to get my music from itunes on to an itouch that I recently inherited from my daughter. I also have an iphone and some of my music is on there. I have maxed out memory on my iphone so I'd like to load all of my music on to the itouch. However, when I try to sync, it says something about the music can only be on one library. I only have one itunes library. The itunes account is on one home computer. When I got the itouch, I plugged into computer and it led me through a whole software update and restore, asking for my apple id and password. So I assume it is not detecting my daughter's library at this point. I don't want to erase anything from my library, so am nervous about what I should do. Please help. Thanks.

Another weird thing related to above question....when I first plugged in the itouch, it asked if I wanted to update the software and I did. Then it went into restore. Then the itouch itself went to a grey screen and asked me questions such as did I want to back up to icloud, use find my itouch, etc. plus it wanted my Apple sign in. I did all that. Once the itouch came on, I noticed that my daughter's music and photos were gone. So that was all good. But then at some point later when I was trying to figure out how to sync, I noticed another notice from Apple on my computer asking if I wanted to update. I assumed that was for my computer not the itouch this time. I did that. Then the itouch was back to the grey tones and the same sign in questions. Now my daughter's photos are back on it but not her music. When I click Sync, nothing happens as far as loading the music. Could this be that my music library is too big for the memory? Wouldn't it tell me that rather than just not do it? As you can see, I am very confused.

You say the music is not on the external HD, the music list (iTunes?) is empty, and it is not on the iPOd. Then where is the music you want to move to the external HD?

If you use the same Apple ID for iCloud on each device, yes. However, you can use the same Apple ID for iTunes content on each device, but different Apple ID's for iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, etc., on each device. That way, you can have whatever iTunes content you want on each phone, but keep all of the other data separate. You can create another Apple ID here:

You'll need to get it all onto one iTunes collection on your Mac Pro, then sync the devices to that. iTunes only lets you transfer purchases from a device, otherwise you have to use third party software.
I guess you could also look into getting iTunes Match.

You need to move the music from the iPod to your iTunes library on your computer then sync with the iPhone.

Set you 2nd iPad from your 1st iPad. If you have your music in your iTunes library, it's easier as you can set it up as a new device and then go to music>sync all music.
Once you set up you 2nd iPad from your 1st one, if you want do not want the other setting to be synced, turn it off. For example, in apps, uncheck everything and you can get rid of them.
