  • CS6 Production Premium upgrade - any problems to delete old versions?

Am looking to upgrade to CS6 from CS5.  However the CS4 full install original is still on my PC because I read it could cause problems with CS5 to delete it.
Have also read on these forums that all upgrades are full installs and that older versions can be uninstalled so long as I have an older version serial key number to use.
Also that the Adobe registry cleaner should be used after an uninstall - but the Adobe site seems to be talking about using its "CS Cleaner Tool" after uninstalling pre-release versions - not purchased upgrades.
So Q. is can CS4 & CS5 be safely uninstalled prior to loading CS6?  (All Production Premium.)  And should the CS Cleaner Tool be used?
Does anyone have a definite answer on this please?  Naturally want to avoid keeping old stuff on the system if possible.
Haven't found a general forum for CS6 Production Premium.  Please redirect if not okay here. Mostly using PremierePro.

I don't know what Adobe's 'official' stance is on this, and I'm not an offial PR spokesperson for adobe. I'm just trying to speak honestly about my own experice as a fellow user. If you're in a position to get rid of all your old stuff and start fresh anew then running an uninstall and a cleanscript is a good idea. I can't speak with authority on that because I typically don't use cleanscripts. I either restore to a clean OS image or just use the uninstaller. But I always carry at least one system with two or more consecutive versions installed on it. Having an extra version is no more obtrusive to me than the extra's GB's it occupies and I get a lot out of it because it lets me compare current behavior to previous version(s). Perhaps I've just been lucky, but I have been running multi-version software setups for well over 10 years now and as long as I'm using the actual released software I've had no conflicts. For the record, I do occassionally encounter uninstall-install component conflicts during a dev cycle, so I acknowledge they exist, but it's almost always due to an architectural change that was intentionally made to the installer during development.
We do extensive project upgrade and installer testing at each new release to ensure that you encounter no problems following wichever path you choose. We try not to assume that you will be running on an especially clean system, or an especially dirty one for that matter. But, there are only a relatively few of us testing these things in-house compared the thousands of users with unique scenarios that may generate problems we have not seen. I think Harm's (and others') point is that if you're in the middle of a big important project, why would you choose to upgrade software right in the middle of it and take that chance at all? I don't believe there is much risk there (assuming you're not jumping about half a dozen versions at one upgrade) but that still seems like common sense advice to me...

  • How can I install CS6 Production Premium upgrade without re-installing CS5.5?

I need to reinstall Adobe Creative Suite CS6 Production Premium on my OSX 10.9.5 (Mavericks). I bought CS6 as an upgrade to my CS5.5. I can't reinstall CS5.5 because it doesn't seem to be supported on the new OSX (the installer won't run). CS6 seems to be able to install, but when I enter in the serial number, it says that I need CS5.5 already installed.
I'm working on a tight deadline and hoping for someone to tell me what I should do.. thanks!

When you go to activate CS6 it should indicate that your serial number is valid but a qualifying product cannot be found on the machine (this would be CS5.5).  There should be a selection list where you select the older version (CS5.5)  as well as an entry where you input the serial number for that older version.

I believe you need to go into your utilities folder and open "Activity Monitor"...look for Dynamic Link Manager in there. then quit the process. I had to do that to install my cs6.

  • CS6 Production Premium Creative Suite Problems

I've just installed CS6 productio Premium Creative Suite and am experiencing the following problems.
      1.   Bridge, Encore, Extend Script Toolkit, Flash Professional, Illustrator, Photoshop and Speedgrade all launch with
            no problem.
      2.   Audition, Media Encoder, and Prelude stop responding during launch.
      3.   Premiere Pro: Launched successfully the first time, stopped responding the second time, launched the third time
and stopped responding the fourth time.
      4.  After Effects: Launched successfully the first time.
Crashed the second time i.e. error "crash occured while invoking plugin scripting"
Launches successfully the third time. etc
    Any ideas anyone?

    Hi Mylenium,
Thanks for your input. You're right, I was so focused on the problem that in haste I neglected to give that information, so here it is.
I am using a laptop with windows 7 Professional (64 bit) installed. I upgraded to my current OS a month ago from Vista due to non responsive programs and blue screens, especially for the installation of CS6 Production Premium Creative Suite. I wanted a more stable platform on which to run the program without any problems, so I performed a clean install. Processor is an Intel Core ™ 2 Duo P8600 @ 2.40GHz and Ram is 4GB with a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3670 graphics card.
Since installing Windows 7 Professional (64 bit), I have experienced no more problems other than the current ones with the Adobe software. Also, during the next few weeks, I will be increasing the Ram from 4GB to 8GB (the old 4GB module will also be replaced).
    Thanks

  • Creative Suite CS6 Production Premium Language

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post, I couldn't find a CS6 related one...
    Anyways...
I recently bought the Creative Suite CS6 Production Premium as a student version.
Now, in order to get the serial number, I have to verify online.
There, I am asked about the language at one point. As I bought the software in Germany, I think you should chose "German", right?
My question is: may I also chose "English", as I'd prefer an english version?
    Thanks!

I would choose the English version if that is what you want.  If things should run afoul in trying that you can always change the language (for CS6 at least) - Order product | Platform, language swap

  • Hardware Build for CS6 Production Premium

First: Thank you for all of the information in this forum. I've done a bunch of reading and there is lots of good information about a many issues.
Second: I am looking for advice on a build for CS6 Production Premium. I don't want top of the line, but a decent midgrade setup. I've done a bunch of reading and I think that I have a reasonable system, but would appreciate some advice. The last time I built a computer was the 1990s when we still had to set DMA and IRQ channels, so I'm a bit rusty.
Case: Cooler Master Cosmos II Ultra Tower RC-1200-KKN1
Motherboard: Asus Z9PE-D8 WS Dual LGA 2011 Intel C602
Two - Intel Xeon E5-2630 V2 Ivy Bridge 2.6GHz six core processors.
Two - Intel STS200C CPU heat sinks.
240 Pin 1600 MHz DDR 3 RAM. 16 GB adequate or 32 GB for a good balance on this system? (Don't really want to goto 64GB, but will if necessary.) Is it better to fill all 8 slots on the mother board or better to have more GB per card and run with 4 empty slots on the mother board?
Crucial M4 256GB SSD SATA boot disk CT256M4SSD2.
Six: 2 TB 7200 RPM SATA 6Gb/S Seagate Barracuda ST2000DM001 hard drives in a RAID 3 configuration with five drives in service and one in standby. (The SSD plugged into the 6GB/s SATA plug and the six 2TB plugged into the C602 SATA 3GB/S plugs? Nothing plugged into the Marvell SATA plugs?
The mother board doesn't support RAID 3 and I have no RAID experience, so I'm guessing that I need a dedicated RAID controller for this? If so, is an Areca ARC-1224-8I a good fit, or is there a better choice?
    Pioneer BDR-2208 blu-ray burner.
Rosewill 1300 watt 80 plus gold power supply.
    Soundblaster ZxR PCIe sound card.
Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1
Two - Dell UltraSharp U2413 24" LED LCD monitors.
Now the $3 question: Video card(s). Is a single GeForce GTX690 adequate to run the various applications in Production Premium? A GTX Titan? Quadro K4000? I don't really want to go to the Quadro K5000, but will if forced.
The only software on the computer will be Windows 7, Adobe CS6, and either McAfee or Norton, along with whatever drivers are needed for the systems. I'll stay away from quicktime as it seems to gum up the works according to some advisers on this forum.
Is there anything that I am missing, hardware wise or installation pointers?
    Thank you for any assistance!

I am considering a similar build for heavy Photoshop and Lightroom use.  Currently on and older i7-1358 pin 3.0Ghz XEON cpu, I'm considering either a new i7-4930 or dual Xeons as you are. The reason for the Xeons is ability to use ECC memory and add more cores.  This is a production system in daily use so I'd probably not be overclocking.
Interested in your and others views on this. Previous to my current system, I'v always had dual socket Pentiums, Athalons or Opterons, someof which are still in service but in a reduced roll.
I typically use fast drives, some SAS, 15K & 10K (SSDs now where it makes sense) and RAID where necessary, especially for SWAP drives in Photoshop along with lots of memory..
Thanks for any input here.  Basically ECC vs non ECC (I know there is a speed hit with ECC, but really - how much?).  Overclock (i7-4930) or non overclocking (Xeons)
I should also mention, Culch, that I am considering the same CPUs and MB as you.
    Thanks for reading.

  • Installing CS6 Production Premium and Retaining Some Programs from CS5

I currently have the CS5 Design Premium suite installed on my computer. I want to purchase CS6 Production Premium and want to know if CS6 automatically uninstalls CS5?  I want to keep Dreamweaver and InDesign from the CS5 suite. Is this possible or is CS5 uninstalled without any control over retaining programs within the suite. Thanks.

Thanks for your reply. I want to install all of CS6 Production Premium. I just want to make sure that I can keep Dreamweaver and InDesign from my CS5 Design Premium suite (they are not part of CS6 Production Premium). Do I have the option to keep software from CS5?
    Thanks

  • Crashing CS6 Production Premium

I have been using CS6 Production Premium for a couple of years without
issue, but last week started having all of the program crash upon opening.
I've cleaned up space on all the drives, uninstalled and reinstalled, had IT
dept troubleshoot and have had no luck whatsoever.
I've also tried to buy help from Adobe but no one seems to care.  They just
want me to buy the Cloud version.
Is there anyone who does paid support for this type of thing?
Very frustrated (and way behind in work load)

Same issues here, hopefully someone can help us as I've got University deadlines soon!
My crashing just seems to be with Photoshop..

  • CS4 Web Premium - CS6 Production Premium

I'm currently running CS4 Web Premium on the PC from which I'm writing. I'm currently considering buying CS6 Production Premium. Would it be possible to continue using CS4 Dreamweaver and CS4 Soundbooth on this machine, or not?

    Hello,
no problem, because all these programs operate independently. What means you can uninstall the "old" CS if you want. Naturally you can use it in a parallel manner in order to use old features or similar.
In my case it's Dreamweaver who is "spooking" in some very very previous versions on my pc.

  • Using Cs6 Production Premium on Mac and 2 Computers

    Hey,
I own a Version of CS6 Production Premium for my Windows Pc.
My Pc is getting old and I would like to buy a Mac. Will it be possible to activate my version of CS6 Production Premium on my new Mac, if I deactivate my old Pc?
Maybe I will buy two Macs at the same time. Would it be possible to install CS6 on both?
    Thanks for the help
    Jan

You need to obtain the Mac version in order to install and activate on a Mac (or two - yes you can install and activate on two machines).  To do that you need to make a cross-platform swap, which Adobe allows for with the latest version of their products (CS6 at this time).  Here is a link that explains what you need to do...
Order product | Platform, language swap
Just a note:  If you had the Creative Cloud subscription you could use either/both of the platforms.
