I wanted to extend my AppleCare Protection Plan, but had deadline wrong and missed by one day, is there anything I can do?

The subject line basically covers it. I've been planning on extending my coverage on my Apple Care Protection Plus from the 1 year to the 3 year, but missed the deadline by ONE DAY and now no longer see extending coverage as an option when I look up my service and support coverage details. Is there anything I can do. Deadline was July 12, today is July 13. Should I go to an apple store/genius bar and beg? I'm in NYC. Thanks ...

Contact Apple. If you're able to do this, you'll need to contact them anyway.

Call the Apple support line, ask for AppleCare Plan Administration, and get a fax number and fax a copy of the receipt to them.

  • Eligible for AppleCare Protection Plan but can't purchase it?

I have an iPhone 5c that according to both the Apple warranty checker  https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do
and Apple Store Genius (at Lenox Square Mall in Buckhead Georgia, on 9/27/2014) is eligible for AppleCare Protection Plan (extensible before 10/4/2014).  I was asked to call Apple to purchase the extension.  However, when I called, AppleCare Senior Advisor Jeffrey told me that Apple has discontinued selling the standard AppleCare plan, and he was not able to add it to my phone.
Anyone else is having the same issue?  Any other way to add the AppleCare protection plan?
I was dumbfounded.   I bought a phone with the understanding that I could extend the warranty within a year, and Apple just went and changed it without any provision to grandfather the existing customers?  I can tell you that my 5c's value just went down.  So is my opinion of Apple - where is the commitment to their existing customers?
I really hope this message finds the right person who is in a position to help me and others in similar situations.  This is my second time posting this question today - the first post disappeared, which was not confidence inspiring either.

    Hi panman,
I think that there was some confusion that occurred on your call. You asked for AppleCare, but only AppleCare + is available for iPhones. Maybe that is what the person you spoke to meant (not sure....)
I purchased AppleCare + for my iPhone 5s after I had purchased it, and went to the chat to get the info on how to purchase it.
You are correct, you need to talk with an Apple person to actually purchase it after the fact. Go to this link and try again - and just let them know you want to purchase Apple Care Plus:

    I get this notice

Call AppleCare (800) 275-2273, explain the situation and they will ensure AppleCare is activated. You can always see if it has already been done by visiting:

So my phone got wet the other day. I dried it out completely, but the touch screen still isn't working. Is there anything I can do short of getting a new phone? Anything that can be done at the nearest Verizon store? I am one of three phones on our plan and I am trying not to need to get a new phone before our contract expires next month.

    Hello wetphone!
We're sorry to hear that your phone isn't working. It's very important to have a functioning touchscreen!  Let's explore your options OK? If the phone is taken to a store, troubleshooting can indeed be done. The store representative can even contact us while you're there.  Do you have insurance on the device? Or, do you maybe have a prior vzw device that can be activated until the upgrade is available? You can also check your My Verizon account to see if your line( or another line on the account) is eligible for an upgrade. VZW always has options for you.

  • I have an iPhone 4s that is still covered under the AppleCare Protection Plan. I have a pretty significant crack across the screen and wanted to know if I have to pay any additional fees to replace the screen or replace the entire phone.

I have an iPhone 4s that is still covered under the AppleCare Protection Plan. I have a pretty significant crack across the screen and wanted to know if I have to pay any additional fees to replace the screen or replace the entire phone.
I was hesitant to purchase this protection plan at first about $70, but the customer service agent reassured me that there were no deductables and thats why I bought into it. But now that I look around on the support site, I see that it says that there are up to two incidents covered for a service fee of $49. Did I really get duped?

If the issue is a manufacturing defect, there is no cost to have the device replaced.
If the issue is a result of user damage (like a cracked screen) and you have AppleCare+ Apple will replace the device for the minimal fee of $49.  They will do this up to two times during the timeframe of the protection plan.
If the issue is the result of user damage and you do not have AppleCare+ then the Out of Warranty replacement cost is $199 for the 4S.
No, you were not duped, you were simply not completely informed.  Whether that was a result of them not sharing all the information or you only hearing what you wanted, no one here knows.

Do note that the Safeware Insurance is NOT AppleCare, though it may be worthwhile in its own way. If you call Apple and tell them you purchased it, they will not be able to help you.
    Best of luck.
Nor did I imply that it did.
Of course they won't if their coverage has expired as the op will in August!

  • HT4993 Lost receipt for Applecare Protection Plan for my iPhone 5 - purchased phone and plan at a Sprint store. How can I find my receipt so that I can register my plan? My lock button is broken now, and I need to use my plan.

I purchased my iPhone 5 and the Applecare Protection Plan a little over a year ago at my Sprint store. I was not informed that I needed to register my Applecare Plan, so I didn't. Now, my lock button on my iPhone is broken and I want to get it fixed or receive a new phone. PeachMac told me they would give me a new phone which would be covered under my Applecare Plan. I logged into Apple to make sure I still had time on my plan, but it doesn't even recognize that I purchased one and I no longer have the receipt for the plan, let alone the phone. How can I register my plan without the receipt? I'm feeling kinda of ripped off by Apple. Shouldn't they keep a record of who purchases these plans?
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Did you register the AppleCare+ plan at the time of purchase? If you didn't, even if you had the receipt, it's too late. It must be purchased and activated within 30 days of the initial purchase of the phone (it's usually done at the time of purchase). If Sprint didn't activate it at the time of sale, you can blame them. Apple doesn't control them.

  • HT202696 Can I renew my Applecare Protection Plan that is due to run out?

Can I renew my Applecare Protection Plan that is due to run out?

Applecare is designed as an extended warranty for a set period (beyond the original manufacturer's warranty). It is a one time deal and not at all intended as an open ended insurance policy. If you have issues, you can still contact apple, but may have to pay for the call. You can post issues here. Visit an Apple store genius bar or authorized service center (which may involve charges for an services performed). Basically, it is what would happen for any electronic device that is out of warranty.

  • Can I use my AppleCare protection plan?

Can I use my AppleCare Protection Plan in replacing a cracked monitor of my ipod touch 4G?

No. Neither the standard warranty or extended AppleCare warranty cover accidental damage like a broken screen.

  • I wish to get AppleCare Protection Plan and my Warranty expired a few days ago.

I got my iPod touch on 12th november 2011 as a prize in a Quiz Competetion. A few days ago I called apple customer support and they say my warranty is expired... According to them, the warranty started in February 2011 and has expired. I wish to get AppleCare Protection Plan and a customer support executive told me over the phone that I would get it but I got no follow up call. My Apple Support /case number is 292089289
I have got a dead pixel on my iPod and I wish to get it replaced. I hope something can be done.
    Thanking You

Check your warranty here: https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do .  If it truly as expired, there is nothing you can do ablut it.  You ca no longer extend the warranty.  Otherwise people would wait to see if their iPod needed service beforing buying the coverage.

  • AppleCare Protection Plan for iPhone

The Protection Plan costs $69.00 for a second year of coverage and I do not know if I should buy it. I have heard that the battery in the iPhone needs to be replaced yearly, is this true? I have heard that to replace a battery, it will cost around $85 and if this is true, isn't it better to get the AppleCare package for $69?
    Thanks

    Ansuz82,
The iPhone batteries page says designed to retain 80% at this link in the right hand side bar:
    http://www.apple.com/batteries/iphone.html
The quote from that page is:
A properly maintained iPhone battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 400 full charge and discharge cycles. You may choose to replace your battery when it no longer holds sufficient charge to meet your needs.
The page you link to says it will be replaced by Apple if it drops to below 50% capacity while covered. The actual quote is:
Your one-year warranty includes replacement coverage for a defective battery. You can extend your coverage to two years from the date of your iPhone purchase with the AppleCare Protection Plan for iPhone. During the plan’s coverage period, Apple will replace the battery if it drops below 50% of its original capacity. If it is out of warranty, Apple offers a battery replacement for $79, plus $6.95 shipping, subject to local tax. Apple disposes of your battery in an environmentally friendly manner.
In other word it should retain 80% of its capacity at least after 400 full charge cycles. If your battery should drop below 50% capacity while covered by warranty or AppleCare Protection Plan, it will be replaced by Apple. There isn't a way to read the number of cycles off the battery that I am aware of.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

  • Can someone explain AppleCare Protection Plan?

Phone comes with up to two years of technical support during the term of your AT&T wireless contract. AppleCare Protection Plan benefits are in addition to any legal rights provided by consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction.
What are the additional services that we don't get already?

Yes, AMEX takes whatever warranty the manufacturer offers and just extends it for a year. If Apple would replace the battery, AMEX will pay for it to be replaced. What happens is you have it replaced, they reimburse you.
AMEX will follow the same protocol on battery replacement that Apple does. If Apple wouldn't deem it to be replaced, neither will AMEX. And vice versa.
On a side note, I can't understand why everyone seems so worried about their battery. Have you had problems with it? Has anyone needed one replaced yet? Do you own an iPod too? Have you ever had to replace it's battery? Additionally, do you really think Apple is anticipating that your battery will go dead if they are offering AppleCare for $69? No, AppleCare is designed solely as a money maker for them, just like any 'service warranty' that Best Buy and others offer. They know darn well you won't need it and that's where they make their money. It's feeding into people's fears. Moreover, if AMEX and other credit card companies offer this service for free for you using their card, then that's double assurance that you're probably not going to need to use the warranty.
