I was attempting to burn a dvd from iMovie but after several attempts could not. Contacted tech support and they say lion iMovie doesn't support burning movies. What a rip (excuse the pun). What do I do now?

Imovie in os10 lion doesn't allow you to burn dvds. How do I do it then?

iMovie has never been able to burn DVDs.
It's iDVD that burns DVDs.
Currently the only place to get iDVD is if you buy a boxed version of iLife 09 which you can still find at places like Amazon.
There are also alternatives to iDVD.  You can read about some of them here:
http://www.tuaw.com/2010/10/28/after-ilife-11-alternatives-to-idvd-and-iweb/
Depending on your movies size, it may also be possible to create a QuckTime version of it and burn that to a data DVD that others can play back on their comptuers.

  • Trying to sync from ipad but keep getting Itunes could not connect to the ipad **** because an invalid responce was recieved from the device"

The problem only started after resetting the Ipad. can download from itunes, but cannot sync, ie put new books in libary

    Hi LizzardAir,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like there may be a connection issue between your computer and iPad.
The support article iTunes: Specific update-and-restore error messages and advanced troubleshooting has some steps to try:
iTunes cannot connect to the [iPad] because an invalid response received from the device
This error occurs when there are problems communicating through USB. This may be resolved by following the steps for errors 13 or 14.
    Error 13, 14, 35 and 50 (or -50)
These errors are typically resolved by performing one or more of the steps listed below:
    1. Perform USB isolation troubleshooting, including trying a different USB port directly on the computer. See the advanced steps below for USB troubleshooting.
    2. Put a USB 2.0 hub between the device and the computer.
    3. Try a different USB 30-pin dock-connector cable.
    4. Eliminate third-party security software conflicts.
    5. There may be third-party software installed that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting one or more TcpWindowSize entries into your registry. Your default packet size being set incorrectly can cause this error. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet-size modification for assistance. Or, follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to reset the packet size back to the default for Windows.
    6. Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, bypassing any routers, hubs, or switches. You may need to restart your computer and modem to get online.
    7. Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.
    Best,
    -Jeremy

  • HT201328 I contacted my carrier and they says: We have provided all the information we can. Please contact Apple for further support. ^JG

I contacted my carrier which is swisscom of switzerland and they told me only to restore my iphone with a non swisscom card but I didnt get my unlock, now im stuck in the setup as a new iphone, I contacted them again gave them my imei and they responded to me try to contact apple , idk what to do now. Any kind of suggest or help would be great. Thanks, with all respect !

What could you do to my imei ? Or maybe not you but somebody else
And yes the iphone has never been jailbroken .
1). What do expect to accomplish by posting your IMEI here? There is no one from Apple on this forum and Apple does not monitor it. Apple does not unlock phones; the carrier does.
2). As you have stated that your phone is unlocked as evidenced by the message on iTunes, you can be pretty sure it is, unless as diesel vdub has stated it was hacked/jaibroken in the past or the computer used to sync/unlock the phone was used with another previously hacked/jailbroken phone.
3). Since we can assume you phone is unlocked, then the problem must be with your SIM. Either:
    a). It is damaged
b). It has not been activated by the carrier
c). It is from a carrier that does not support the iPhone.
On another post, I asked what carrier you are now attempting to use and you have not answered the question.

  • So I bought this iPod touch 4th generation 8gb ... And it turned ouI be faulty .. So I got it replaced  and the new one was faulty too(bad luck) ... This is a brand new piece ... And apple says its warranty is void ... How do I get the warranty back?

    ...

What do you mean "get it back"?  If Apple has determined that you have voided the warranty (jailbreaking the device, water damage/exposure, accidental damage or for whatever reasons), then there is no getting it back.  It is voided, so you no longer are covered under warranty.

  • When I receive an email with an attachment I am unable to read the attachment. I contact AT&T and they say the problem is with Firefox.

when I receive an email with an attachment and download it I get a message stating that the attachment can not be read for various reasons. My provider has tried to help but unable, they stated it is the problem with Firefox. I have updated Adobe reader several times with no luck. All of my working friends are able to download and read the same attachments but not me. I am the only one with Firefox, so I can say it is Firefox that causing the problem. HELP

  • Once again, I have problems sending e-mails from my iPad 2. I have a telus account and I have dealt with their tech people and they have checked all my settings and everything is fine. Apple techs advised to open Gmail acct. and re-route through it? Why?

I am having a difficult time trying to send e-mails from my iPad 2? I have contacted my Telus server tech people and we have double checked all my settings. Everything is properly set! Checked with my Apple people and they say this is a common problem with my server, yet others with the same server don't seem to have a problem. They suggested that I open a Gmail account and infor my mail server(Telus) to route my mail through my Gmail account? Does thei make sense? Are ther any other solutions I might investigate?

    Hi prettytoni,
I saw one interesting solution to set a gmail account like as it is a "Microsoft Exchages" account... Maybe you can try to do the similiar with your Telus account? (I'm not sure about the result, but still you can try it))))

  • I'm not very techy, so be gentle! i am using midvd app to burn home movies to dvd from iMovie '11 version 9.0.9. It now burns the dvd but there is nothing on the disc. its not recognised by the iMac or any other dvd player.

I was using midvd app(i never had idvd) to make home movies on dvd from imovie '11 version 9.0.9 with no problems before xmas 2013. ive just tried to make a new one today and it wont work.
It seems to burn to the dvd (you can see a mark on the back of the dvd as if it has some info on it) but it wont play on imac (just says blank disc) or any other dvd player.
I have tried reinstalling midvd app and also tried 2 other dvd creator apps and the same thing happens the app says its burning and the external superdrive whirs like its doing something but it wont play.
The only thing i have done since xmas is all the updates to the operationg system and updated imovie (i didnt like the new version so went back to using the previous one)
Any ideas - i am new to all things mac!

When you export your movie from iMovie, are you choosing H.264? That is the only compression method supported by this miDVD. Youc an give this a try first:
Use Share > Export to Quicktime > Movie to Quicktime Movie > choose Options and then make your choices in Settings, etc (you can choose whatever size your video is - mine was 720 HD at that time):
If that does not work, I'd suggest going to their support site as they claim to be able to burn to DVD.... I just checked their site and here is their list of supported file types:

I had to restart by resetting the NVRAM/PRAM.  Now I have a window showing OS X Utilities.  My options are restore from Time Machine Backup (which I could do), Disk Utility to repair or erase, get help online or reinstall OS X.  What should I do?  The problem began when I tried to restart my computer and the only thing I saw was the grey screen, Apple logo, and the timer; the computer wouldn't restart from there.

I searched through trouble shooting options on the Apple Support page and was able to make it this far.

  • What is the best way to make a DVD from iMovie

What is the best way to make a DVD from iMovie?
    I am using iMovie 06 (Naturally) with iDVD 08. I have always used;
iMovie 06, File > Share to iDVD 08. And got pretty good results.
Some say the best way is to quit iMovie 06, open iDVD and import the movie from the Media button.
I have tried both methods in the results look the same. I'm interested in getting the very best quality possible.

You likely have one of the most expensive media converter boxes on the market today.
But does it work well with most macs? (my guess is that it does). But more specifically can it "handshake" with an intel based mac? I personally haven't tried it.
But you may want to read this for yourself if you haven't already:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1179361&tstart=2362
Assuming it works then the best format is .dv which this unit will support apparently.

  • Burn a dvd from iMovie on brand new 2014 imac

I just became an imac user after 29 years of owning pc's. I record video for school functions and have always used ADOBE Premiere to produce and author dvd's. I made the jump to an imac after windows xp was no longer supported, adobe is going to cloud subscriptions and after hearing how much easier working with video was with an imac. Well.....you know what's coming....and why I took the time to jump into a forum: I figured out iMovie very quickly and transcoding to an mp4. I have a Superdrive because I was told it can read and burn dvd's and mayb even blue ray. But holy cow....is there truly no way to make a dvd from iMovie?! Really?! Or from that matter to burn a dvd from this imac? I have gone nearly blind reading through the communities and forums. I have made 3 dvd's that won't play in a Sony dvd player that plays everything I can throw at it except the dvd's from this imac. Good thing I still have my PC, maybe I should just get Windows 8 and bite the Adobe bullet. Any other suggestions? I am more saavy than the average user, which always heightens the frustration level when a simple task takes all day to reach no appropriate resolution. I don't need a lot of detail, just tell me where I made the wrong turn.
P.S. I just went to the "tags" to post this....and funny thing....there must be 50 dvd tags, but none even resembling dvd burning or dvd authoring. Is there somthing going on that I need to know about....with dvd burning on imacs or Apple in general?

    Hi Carolyn!
That iMovie user guide you linked to is the old one for iMovie HD (5 or 6)!
There isn't one for iMovie 10/11 but:

  • How do I burn a dvd from iMovie 10.0.4 to i DVD 7.1.2 in Mavericks?

How do I burn a dvd from iMovie 10.0.4 to i DVD 7.1.2 in Mavericks?  When I hit File>Share>File and select a location, I can't see the file anywhere.  I looked for other instructions on support forums and they don't seem to work.  Everything was working fine until I upgraded.

    Buy iDVD.
Yes, there are other programs that will put a movie on a DVD.   I have tried most of the other substitutes.  None of them come anywhere near the ease-of-use and power of iDVD.  IDVD is specifically designed to work with iMovie.
With iDVD you can easily and quickly create DVDs with menus and graphics almost on the level of what Hollywood can do.
IDVD is easy to get. It is available on disk as part of iLife 11.
IDVD is a wonderful piece of software and well worth the low cost of $40.  (works with all Mac OS 10.5 and newer.)

How do I burn a dvd from imovie?  Using imovie as updated when Mavericks was installed.

    Do you actually have iDVD?

To burn a DVD with iDVD from the latest version of iMovie, you have to export the movie using the Export button and select 480p as the size. Open iDVD and start a new project, then drag that exported movie file into the iDVD menu window, avoiding any drop zones you see.
