I5 Powerbook, Mac OS 10.6.4, CS4 Web Premium... it's just horrible...

Started having problems with Fireworks. Interface/workspace would disappear. Tried switching to Application Frame, threw an error. Uninstalled Fireworks and reinstalled, same issue. Error, once the Updater ran. It looks like it (Fireworks) was fine until the updater ran. Tried launching Dreamweaver... don't even get me started on the interface problems. Workspaces won't appear... I switch from "Coder" to "Classic" and everything completely disappears. The only way to get panels to come back is to quit Dreamweaver and restart.
I'm on my second complete removal of all CS4 AND preference files and still nothing. The two pieces of software I actually NEED to work aren't working at all... can someone, anyone, help?

Okay, I've uninstalled every Adobe product on my computer. Flash, AIR, the works. I've removed every Adobe preference file I could find, and anything in Application Support.
I've done a custom install of CS4. I left out Version Cue and Drive. I have NOT run the updater. I've started Dreamweaver and Fireworks and the whole interface issues I've had with both APPEAR to be gone.
I'm now scared to run the update.
I'll give it a shot knowing that I can always go through this process again. However, if I run this update, and the issue comes back, I'm contacting Adobe some way and seeing what my resolution options are.
Has anyone else experienced this "Disappearing Panels" issue before? It's *incredibly* frustrating as it renders the entire working interface unusable and therefore, the usability of the application just evaporates. I can't work at all. Fireworks was the worst. I'd create a new document and the document would be at the absolute "0,0" position on the mac. We're talking BEHIND the menu, including the Apple menu. I couldn't even GET to the menu bar to "pull" it down below the OS menu. It would just be stuck up behind the application.
I can't POSSIBLY be the only one experiencing this, right?

  • CS4 Web Premium (Dreamweaver mostly) PC or Mac

    Hi
I am looking to purchase CS4 web premium (dreamweaver, fireworks, photoshop, illustrator etc..)
I currently own a windows vista laptop with a 14" screen, so I am wanting to purchase a new machine with a bigger 22"+ screen.  My question is should I go for a pc or a mac.  Which is best for running the software?
I am using the software to design my own web sites only, so not for other commercial work.  I am looking at static sites and eventually database driven sites. Mac or Pc which is best for me.  Thanks

Any of them will do. If it's just for your personal needs - go cheap and buy a PC. Better bang for the buck. You can find some decent mini/ micro PCs that should be sufficient for web design, occasional Photoshopping and even games and generally have a wider choice of options. The only alternative to this on the Mac side would be a Mac mini or an iMac, but iMac screens are rubbish and the cost of a Mac mini plus an eye-friendly LCD screen is still higher than a comparable PC+screen. Of course, the bigger the budget you have, the less critical this becomes...

  • Reinstalling CS4 Web Premium on Mac after having to reinstall complete backup

I just had my macbook pro's hard drive wiped clean, had Yosemite reinstalled and then i installed my latest full back up. I didn't realize I had to mess w/ my CS, so adobe sent me a link to download CS4 Web Premium. I uninstalled (as directed) and I've downloaded the file (called ADBESTWDCS4_LS1.dmg) and on my desktop I have a folder called CS4 Web Premium Disc 1. When I open that there are 3 read me links and and icon for CS4 Web Premium. When I open that there four folders, an icon that says setup (that I can't open) and 'bootstrapper.dmg'. Adobe's documentation for installing says to double click the dmg file and follow the instructions. There are no steps provided when I double click on either of the aforementioned .dmg files.
The read me file says Mac OSX v10.4 - 10.5.4, but I'm on 10.10.2. I was running the Creative Suite programs just fine on this.
Sorry if I'm missing the obvious?
Thanks for your help, so behind on work!

Well, when I double click it, it just does what I listed above. It's on my desktop and in the Applications folder. Looks like this. When I open this top folder, then I get more options, including the bootstrapper.dmg. Double clicking boostrapper.dmg opens another folder...it's got a file called Setup (has an Ri on the icon). If i change my preferences, I can open, but I haven't seen anywhere that says "open setup". guess i'm confused as this is way more work than any other program i've installed. Again, I'm not "double clicking and follow the instructions that are on screen" that Adobe docs mentioned.

  • I have CS4 Web Premium and I am what to know if there are issues in this pack in Mac OSX 10.10 (Yosemite) operation system?

I am trying to get support in CS4 Web Premium, but I could get any support from Adobe (there is no phone, e-mail or chat for this problem). And the support page is a loop to go nowhere.
I hope I will find my answer here, hopefully. Otherwise is better to star looking for answers in other places than in Adobe.
    Thanks anyway.

Thanks for your time and your reply.
And I do understand what you are saying, but client support can be as simple as the ability to send a direct e-mail and receive a diret answer, even if is it "Is not possible".
From my own experience, small software companies can do it, and even open source software companies do it, with much less resources (probably they have a big will in provide a good service).
And for a big company can be as simples as 1-2 days testing, for main tasks and give some feedback to many, many users.
Unfortunately, some big companies like Adobe just don't care. Unfortunately. So I will start looking to companies o actually care.
    But anyway, that's my decision.
Thanks once again, I will see, somewhere else.
    Cheers

  • CS4 Web Premium & Snow Leopard?

I'm a brand new mac user and just ordered CS4 Web Premium to learn web & graphic design.  I currently have OS X 10.5.8 on my late-2008 MacBook Pro, and was wondering if I should install the upgrade to Snow Leopard before or after I install CS4 WP, on not upgrade to SL at all?  I've read mixed reviews on different sites about compatibility issues.  I'm in no rush to upgrade to SL, unless somebody here suggests that it's a good idea to do so.

In case anybody else stumbles across this thread like I did. I did eventually solve the problem. The tech support guy at Adobe was useless, even though I told him that I had re-installed twice and once re-installed Snow Leopard, he had me run the Adobe Cleaning Utility thing. Two hours of re-installing (for the third time) and another 700MB of updates (from my precious download quota) and I was exactly back to where I started.
Then when the updates for Version Cue and Adobe Drive failed to work it got me to thinking. Looking at the box it states that Java is needed for Version Cue Server. That being a unique requirement and the update for that particular program failing, sent me on the search. I eventually found the directory containing Version Cue Server and moved it. I next planned to restart but I didn't have to---the instant I moved the directory my CPU usage plummeted from 60% to 1%.
I've been working on this for days and all I had to do was issue the command.
    mv /Library/Application\ Support/Adobe/Adobe\ Version\ Cue\ CS4/Server ~/Disabled
    *sigh*

  • Install demo of CS4 Web Premium-Photoshop Installs 64 bit and x86 versions but 64 bit does not work

Just installed the CS4 Web Premium demo onto a brand new 64 bit i7 processor with Windows Seven Home Premium machine with 9gb memory. The install seems to be fine except it installed a 64 bit version as well as x86 version into different folders. The x86 version works fine but the 64 bit version does not.
Every time I try to open a file using "Open With' I get the following message "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application."
First of all why does it install both versions and why does it try to open everything in the 64bit version even after specifically telling it to open in the x86 version (even after setting the default file association to the x86 version.
I would of course like to use the 64 bit veriosn but if it not going to work. I'll use the 32 bit version. I just wantto be able to right click my mouse and be able to "Open With". I can open Photoshop 32 bit and open the file that way but it is a pain to do that way.
    Any help would be appreciated

Both are installed to allow you to use 32 bit plugins. As for the problem, you'll get far more attention in the Photoshop forum.

  • How to upgrade multiple CS4 WEB Premium to multiple Creative Cloud using the same Adobe account?

    Hi all!
    Sorry for my english speaking...
On my company Adobe Account I registred three Adobe CS4 Web Premium, that I use in my company on three different PC's.
Now I would to upgrade my three Adobe CS4 Web Premium buying three Creative Cloud subscriptions with the special discount that I find on https://creativecloud-specialoffer.adobe.com/special-offer/?loc=en_US .
So I registred three orders of Creative Cound subscriptions on my Adobe Account, but today I got a e-mail from Adobe that says that Adobe refuses two of my orders because only one Creative Cloud subscription is admissible for each Adobe Account that has at least one Adobe product serial number registred.
How can I solve this issue? Must I split my three Adobe CS4 Web Premium on three different Adobe IDs? Can I do it?
    Many thanks,
    Walter

    Hi Carol,
many many thanks for your quick reply!
In other words I must pay a 61$/mo subscription instead the 36$/mo subscriptions for 2 of 3 users, isnt it?
But in this way I will spend about 600$ more for the first year.
I always buyed genuine Adobe products, it is demralizing to spend 600$ only because a multiple-subscription restriction fot those that registred all the products per Adobe ID...
    Other solutions?

  • Error 150:30 CS4 Web premium - Yosemite upgrade

I'm trying to recover from a Yosemite upgrade failure on my MacBook Pro. I used the Migration Assistant app to restore my Applications folder. When I launch any product from the suite, I get Error 150:30. I can't use the installer disk for CS4 Web Premium. I've attempted downloading it from the support site several times and it always fails. When I attempt to relaunch download in Safari, I get a message that I don't have permission to download the CS4 Web Premium installer.

    Michael,
Thanks for the reply. I'm not running Yosemite. I'm still running Mavericks 10.9.5. CS4 worked fine in it. I'll try the cleaner and attempt another download.
    Aaron
UPDATE: CS4 Installer doesn't work on Mavericks, although the apps were running before the failed Yosemite update. I've downloaded the installer but it doesn't launch. It behaves like a folder, showing the installer contents. Here is a screen shot.
UPDATE 2: The support reply was NOT helpful and didn't solve my problem. I'm not running Yosemite, if this post was read correctly.
I've downloaded CS4 Web Premium several times and it still doesn't work on 10.9.5.

  • How do I install the Content DVD in CS4 Web Premium?

I can't find anything about this on the forum. Sorry if it has been asked before (I know it's a very basic question), but can anyone tell me how I install the Content DVD in CS4 Web Premium, please? This is the DVD that contains the PDF manuals, Fonts and samples / tutorials for Fireworks and Photoshop.
The first two DVDs (Application 1 and 2) installed automatically, and then went straight to the Registration page without prompting me to insert any further DVDs. All of the software from the first two DVDs seems to have installed correctly.
However, when I insert the third DVD (Content), it will not auto-run. I see ut contains an "autorun.inf" file that references a program called "autoplay.exe", but the latter isn't present on the DVD. Could this be the problem?
I would be grateful for any suggestions.

Cutomer support on this issue is attrocious.
Here is what I asked them:

  • Flash will not install from CS4 Web Premium on XP

I installed CS4 Web Premium a while back and, since I do not do a lot of Flash development, I didn't realize right off that Flash CS4 did not install. However, I just tried to go back and install it from the DVD and it shows in the list but the box in front of it is uncheckable. The heading at the top says to check the boxes to install or reinstall the applications. Other programs such as Dreamweaver, Contribute, Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc. can be checked but the box in front of Flash (and Soundbooth, etc.) are unresponsive. I do still have CS3 Web Premium on this machine which has Flash CS3 Professional and Flash CS3 Video Encoder as well as also still having Studio 8 and CS 2 with Flash 8 and Flash 8 Video encoder and InDesign CS2 & CS3, Visual Communicator, VlogIt, etc.. Do I need to remove any of those first? This machine is about 3 years old (Dell Optiplex GX620) running Win XP. I'm about to upgrade to a new machine in about a month that will be running Windows 7. So I will be doing a clean install of CS4 Web Premium then. But it would be nice to fix this so I can work on some Flash files before then. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, I'm assuming you are using the Manual Install. Did you already Uninstall any current Flash Player version?
If not, download and SAVE to your Desktop the Uninstaller:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
Then download and SAVE to your Desktop the Installer:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html
Use the EXE Installer for Windows and Internet Explorer. Use the EXE Installer for the plugin based browsers
Then use the Administrator Account and CLOSE all browser Windows. Disable any instant messenger service from the system tray.
Run the Uninstaller and reboot(restart) your computer.
Then Run the Installer and reboot.
That message appears because the IE browser window is open.
    Thanks,

  • Existing Kompozer Website but Wish to Start Over W/CS4 Web Premium

Hopefully, i am in the right place to ask these question. I'm a real novice but we needed a web presence and tried a hand at Kompozer. With no prior experience, or training actually managed to get something up. The site has only a single page at the moment with two external link buttons.  But now we would like to turn to CS4 Web Premium. I have read and watched any number of tutorials and some say, Download the Existing (Remote) site using an FTP program such as Filezilla and then edit it Locally.
I am under the impression you don't actually need to use Filezilla, or another FTP with CS4 Web Premium, as it has a built in FTP feature?
Can someone please educate me and hold my hand and walk me through this process?
I've downloaded my entire site to my desktop from a Backup provided by the hosting site. I'm not sure if this is what I need for an edit.
The hosting site gave/gives the option to download The Entire Site, or just certain folders but being "green" I wasn't sure about this option.
OTOH, If I were to start from scratch can I design A New Site Locally while the Kompozer built site stays up and then simply replace the current site with the New CS4 created one? Can I configure CS4 to Publish the changes from the existing file names and settings?
For example my current site is comprised of a single folder (on my desktop) containing 6 items total; An index.html, 4 individual jpg images and a single favicon ico (which i did upload separately as Kompozer didn't want to cooperate at the time. Admittedly I'm not even sure what FTP program I resorted to in effort to get it done ) .
I'm a little concerned I might delete a file that was there when I first set up the webhosting before I actually uploaded anything.
My web hosting provider (Blue Host)  said, Where Dreamweaver Asks What Folder on The Server Do You Want To Store Your Files In? The Path you put in is Public_html and provided a link to a tutorial but it seems it is for a New Site as opposed to editing an existing one.
A genuine Thank YOU in advance for any assistance, suggestions and Tips. I know we all have to start somewhere in effort to learn.

You really should post this in the Dreamweaver forum but if you have the FTP information for the site it's a one click procedure to download it to your local machine and work on it in Dreamweaver.

  • Right proceedure for reinstalling  Dreamweaver (CS4 Web Premium)

I may have to reinstall my Win 7 Pro system due to a number of little quirks that are popping up.  Same PC ...same HDD etc.  I do have an image backup...but not from as early as I would like to go.  Thinking a clean install would be best.
What is the best way to do this so I don't lose/or invalidate my current activation of Web Premium CS4 ?
    Thanks much...TR

Thanks John...just to be clear...should one "deactivate all CS4 programs in the suite or will deactivating 1 deactivate all installed CS4 Web Premium apps ?

  • Upgrading from CS3 Web Standard to CS4 Web Premium problems

So I got my CS4 Web Premium upgrade box in the mail yesterday.  I'll be starting a big project in about a week or so and figured I'd do the install and familiarize myself with the enhancements and play with PS, as it has been a while.  Anyway, I drop the first of the install disks into my XP Pro SP3 laptop and off I go.  I enter the serial number for the CS4 which checks good.  Hit next at which point it looks for a previous install of a CS product and does not find one.  No problem, I think to myself, as there is a space to enter the previous version's serial number.  Enter the serial for the previous version (CS3 Web Standard) which results in a no go in resolving the number.  The tool suggests I go back and install the trial version and then deal with the issue with Adobe support.  Has anyone else experienced this issue and if so could you please share your experiences and/or resolution path?

I did my homework on this one and purchased the "Upgrade from Creative Suite 3.x" offering.  The CS3 works like a champ.  When I attempt to do the install of CS4 I get the error message when I enter the CS3 serial number.  Any thoughts, guidance or suggestions are welcomed.  I'm resistant to going the trial version route for fear that I'll not get resolution in time and have my project impacted.  I can probably get by with Fireworks, but PS is preferred and the driving reason for the upgrade.  Thanks!

    Hello,
I am using CS4 Web Premium and I have a project that I am working on where I have a 150 pictures of different sizes that I need to reduce to thumbnails.
Is there a way that anyone may know to do this in maybe bridge or photoshop or any other program in the suite so I don't have to do each one individually.
    Thanks for the time,
