IBot user setup

Hello,
We are managing users and groups in external tables. I am trying to setup iBot for a selected group of people and content needs to be delivered to the email address as in the external table. I am creating the Ibots as an Administrator, but I don't see an option of choosing the users from a database table. is this something OBI 10.1.3.4.1 supports?
thanks,
Ajeet

You have to set up the subject area if you want to retrieve the data of the user from a table.

  • Open Users Setup form in Find mode

    Hello,
When I open the users form
    Administration
    ---Setup
    General
    Users
this form is in Add mode. Is there a way to have it in find mode directly ?
    Thank you
    Sébastien

    Hi,
It is not possible to have the User - setup in the Find mode default.
The form opens in the Add Mode and you have to go to the Memo and click on Find or do a Ctrl + F.

  • "Copy Form Settings" in Users-Setup

    Hi
Could somebody shed some light on the Copy From Settings function in Users-Setup?
How to select source and how to select target user?
The one currently logged on as well as the one selected are greyed out ... I'm not getting it how to use this.
    Thanks

    Hi Franz,
Please check out SAP Note No. 1369613 which explains the steps regarding the 'Copy Form Settings'.

  • Best Practise for managing SRM user setup

Hi ... I am looking for some best methods that you are following in your projects, in order to manage the SRM user setup.
My users are concerned about the time taken from user submitting a request for user creation or org plan setup or changes to user profile ..... to the actual work done in SRM. Lot of time and effort are spent in manage this task.
Other concern is, each user request has to be dealt individually. They are looking for some automation of the process which would process bulk requests belongs to differnet users from different departments. From my experience, one thing we can think of is generating a upload program. But I think that would also be complicated for chaning the existing profile.
Just thought of checking with you .... whether you have any process which results in less time and effort spent in managing these activities? Please share your thoughts.
    Thanks,
    Arun

    Hi,
Different people will tell you different versions of what they believe is best practice, but in my opinion you are already doing reasonably well.
    What I prefer is
    1. Lock ID & set validity date.
    2. Assign user to user group LEAVER or EXPIRED or something similar (helps with reporting) out of SUIM/S_BCE* reports.
    3. Delete role assignment (should you need it, the role assignment will be in the change history docs anyway).
    4. Check background jobs & act accordingly.
For ease of getting info I prefer not to delete the ID though plenty of people do.

  • Adding a position to a user in the Users Setup

    Dear all,
I want to add a position to a users in users setup but unfortunately there is no provision for this in Users-Setup window. However, the OUSR table has 'position' field which is blank for all the users. How can I add users' positions without doing this from the back end, database, using even an SQL command or doing it manually?
    Please help.
    Regards,
    Davis M Onsakia

    Hi Sura,
Thanks for this. But why use a UDF when this is provisioned by the database? I sort of expected to use something a kin to form settings to turn on the 'position' field.
The employee Master Ways is rather a laborious method and a bit cumbersome and I see the 'position' field there is from the OHEM table rather than the OUSR table.
    Thanks though.

  • ACS User Setup

When the user authenticates in ACS v3.3, a profile is created and stored under User Setup. When the employees leaves the company we have to delete this profile. We use external database which is Active Directory.
    Questions
    1) If the Active Directory account is deactivated, will the user be able to login because the credentials is saved in ACS?
    2) Is there a way to expire these credentials like in 24 or 48hrs?

In ACS3.3 you are able to expire the account also if the account is deactivated and the cached user in ACS is pointing to the windows database for authentication this should not allow the user in.
Here is where you can setup how long the account is active for:

  • New User Setups - My Face...

Oh yeah!  Plus New User setup forms from HR with wrong spelling as well, and you get ahead of the game and go and setup every account they need, login as them to their new machine, an email goes out to all users asking them to welcome the new start, the GAL goes out to all remote Outlook users and everything - then they turn up for work on their first day and call you to say their name is spelt wrong.  Oh the pain, the anger, the postal feeling, then...   ah, the coffee - that's better.....
    And it all begins again.

Instead of a common/sane/literate spelled name such as Matthew, I have to create Matthieui

  • Customisation of New User setup pages.

Is it possible to customise the New User setup screens/forms? If not, is it possible to add few more screens to capture more details?
    null

It believe it is not possible to adjust these screens in the current version of Portal. The database packages that build these screens are wrapped.
But we managed to create our own screens using the Portal API package (see PDK) that edits the user (wwsec_api.modify_portal_user). You can create an application component (form ) that is based on a procedure. It seems to work.
I don't know if this also works for the creation of users (wwsec_api.add_portal_user).

  • User setup: automatic bcc?

my manager wants some users setup to be automatically blind carbon copied (bcc) to him for auditing purposes. The manuals say this can be done on the server, but I can't figure out HOW. anyone have ideas? I see that it can be done for ALL users, but he only wants a few, and naturally done on the server. We're transitioning from Eudora IMS, but this is a big stumbling block.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Automatic BCC was never a device-level function...rather, it was a server-side function, provided as part of BIS, with merely an on-device interface to that server-side setting. But the device itself did not perform that function.
With BB10, BIS no longer exists, so a different solution must be found. Typically, this involves having your email outbound server do this, if they indeed offer such.
However, what you say concerning "sent e-mails go directly out from the mobile and not through the provider" is not accurate...with BB10, sent items use your email service outbound SMTP server, and with compatible services, can place Sent Items into the server-based Sent Items folder.
The 3 "weak points" you mention are indeed accurate...we all are hopeful that future releases of the OS will enable more functionality.
Please consider that BB10 was not an evolution from legacy BBOS...rather, it is a completely new platform, built from the ground up. I have found that the best way to approach it is with absolutely no expectations of finding anything that existed before -- and then to be happy when finding those things that indeed remain in place, along with hopefulness that more of those will return as the OS continues to be improved and enhanced as it matures.
    Good luck!

  • User Settings in Multi-user setup?

We are using two new CS5 editors in our news department.  We set the machines up on our Domain partly for being able to use NTFS permissions and because our IT department hates stand alone machines.
The issue we are having is that each person logs in as a Domain User which give similar rights as a local user would have.  The editor seems to work fine and we don't seem to have any problems with doing this other than each user must setup about 15 settings for the first time.
They have to change the location of where the project is created to the 500 GB E:\ drive that we have shared on the network (this is for being able to copy and entire project from one editor to the other), then they have to change the DV-NTSC preset for correct audio tracks and then change the General tab settings for Playback through DV Realtime Settings (why is this no longer the default, doesn't anyone still use tape??).  Then they save a preset.  After that the preset will give the correct audio and sequence settings except the "Playback Settings" does not seem to track from one project to the next.
Then they have to change the source channel mapping to Mono so the two tracks we record in the field, Interview/standup on track 1 and Natural sound on track two don't come in as stereo audio. (this one seems to stay for new projects under that user)
Then they have to change the audio hardware to enable the "line in" for recording tracks from our mixer.
PHEW!!!, as you can see this is a time consuming annoying issue to have every user have to do this.
Is there a way to make some of these settings the default for any user that uses the PC?  I don't want to go back to a shared project setup like we had under Avid as it caused a lot of issues with people deleting other peoples stuff.
Any idea's on making these settings stick would be great,  Do I need to allow "Domain Users" full write acces to the Premiere Program Files directory?
    Thank you,

The main reason for the separate accounts is for allowing each user to have a folder in the E:\ Drive on each editor will be the 1 TB Scratch Drive.  These system are only going to be doing DV video for now and will use only basic edits for News packages and VO/SOT's and such.  Nothing complicated unless they want to.  When users leave every two years (Market 195) we can just delete the user and their folder to clear them out, which gets rid of all the garbage people seem to leave on the desktop.
We have two editors and a common problem with them being stand alone (as they were with the avid systems) is a reporter would go in to Edit 1 and capture or import from camera (nNovia Media Pack) the video for a news story.  Then due to having to rush out to get another interview or breaking news they would leave for a while.  When they get back there is another user in that bay using it for the next 30 minutes to an hour and so that reporter is forced for time issues to re-capture the same content into Edit 2.  This causes wasted time and frustration.
Other stations in our company use a server with large amounts of storage, each user has a folder on that server with all their content.  Because you can not edit across the network drives due to latency issues, they copy the Project folder with all their captured clips and files to the local drive of the editor, and go to work editing.  Then after working on that project for a while they copy it back to the server that is Backed up and has many TB of storage.
We can't afford to build that server now so I am settling for them to work on each editors Local 1 TB Scratch Disk in a Folder called "Edit 1 Projects"
Then when a user logs into that folder and creates a Sub Folder with their name, e.g. "Sam Johnson" that becomes their folder.  Then I am having them create individual project folders under that, e.g. "School graduation VO", "Police shooting PKG".  Because that user "Sam Johnson" created the folder he has full rights to it by using the "Creator Owner" NTFS permission I set on the Parent Folder to propagate to the child folders.  All other Domain Users can read and use other peoples video, but they do not get "Modify" rights so no user can delete other users stuff. (Another issue we had problems with on the old editor) Only and Admin or in our case the news director can delete stuff.
The plan behind all of this is the reporter would be able to, in the same scenario I outlined above, navigate the network to the shared drive of the other editor and copy/move the subfolder they need over the network.  After the copy (which includes the captured files and project file) they could open that project and keep working.  With Gigabit speed this should not take long for smaller projects.
I haven't tested this other than it is similar to the Benchmark project I downloaded as a Zip.  When I extracted that, I was able to open it as all the source files were included.  I am sure there would be issues when the project/files gets so large that the time to copy is as long as re-importing from the tape/camera.
Another benefit of this is users can navigate their projects on the two editors from their desk computer in the newsroom.  With a bit of training they will be able to delete the .avi files they no longer need.  Due to the video being the largest files, they can easily do cleanup without going into the bay at all. If they want to keep a great clip of B-Roll they shot, they can burn a Data DVD from their desk.  All of this is possible being on the domain and having user rights passed from one machine to another through their network login.
If anyone knows of a major flaw to my idea I am not thinking of let me know,
    Thanks

  • User Setup Problem

    Hi,
I have just installed Snow Leopard Server on a Mac Mini Server (internet is via a Time Capsule with a shared public IP). I am having a problem allowing users to access the services & set up their computers locally. In Server Admin, all the services have "green lights" (including DNS & Open Directory, which I assume are the culprits) and I can access my server via its Domain Name over the internet. I can also remotely administer the computer from my iMac. I cannot, however, get users I have created in Workgroup Manager to be able to sign on to the Server locally, either via the "setup email invitation" method or manually. The error I receive is "could not resolve the address (2200)" when I attempt to join the File Server in Login Options. Help!

i am not sure what exactly you mean by duplicating the user,if it means that you want another user who can do all the things the sys can do, then maybe you can give this statement when you are connected as internal.
    grant sysdba to new_user;
this should be the same as duplicating the user. so for any database admin task you can use this NEW_USER instead of SYS.
The objects owned by SYS are most important for the normal function of the database. so if you end up duplicating (creating the same objects that sys has, if this is what you mean) the SYS user, potentially you may end up corrupting the database.
    hope this helps!!

  • Script for user setup in Discoverer

Do anyone have a script that I can use to scan a table or spreadsheet with User names and Business areas and setup the users in Discoverer. I need to setup lot of users in Discoverer and manually doing them is a time taking process.
    Thanks in advance

Darn good idea, but I've never heard of anyone having such a thing.
Note that if an Oracle Apps EUL, then all the Apps users and responsibilities are already in the EUL per se, just not associated to a business area via security. Likewise, if a non-Apps EUL, then all database user and responsibilities are already in the EUL per se, just not associated to a buseinss area via security.
So, it's just the security you need to set up. Also, note that user: PUBLIC has the defaults for new users so maybe you can use that to save some time.
Again, though, I've never heard of it but conceivable as there may be 1 or more EUL tables that can be updated by SQL outside of Disco.
If you 'crack it', pls post as it would be a valuable bit of code.

  • IBot user not receiving dashboard alert/email not the case for other users

    Hi,
I have a user who can create iBots and is able to deliver them to other users. However the user themselves cannot receive any iBot alerts on the dashboard or via email, even for iBots that they create themselves.
I've checked their account setting and their email is configured, they are part of the correct user groups etc. This user has never been able to receive any iBot alerts or any iBot content.
Can you let me know what else I can check as iBots are working for other users?
    Regards,
    AT

    Thanks Jay,
They are part of the same group (in fact thety are part more groups as well) as other users for whom alerts and iBots work. They have the relevant priviliges under Delivers, their email is correct.
They have access to the relevant Subject Area as it is ther user themselves who create the report and try to send it out using and iBot, other users receive the report apart from themselves. They themselves don't receive any alerts or emails.

  • SoaBPM 11g workspace user setup

I am trying to get the 11g soaBPM installation on Linux 64 working.
I had re-installed it and does not seem to be able to login to the Business Process workspace with the default weblogic/weblogic9 admin account.
(Side issue: was having a lot of problem finding out and getting the 11g components installed and working - prior to the re-install, the soa_server1 and bam_server1 disappeared from the WL admin console. Happened again on the second re-installed but let it sat for a day of two before logging into the WL admin console and the soa_server1 reappeared - so am guessing it takes some time when the weblogic server is restarted before the soa server shows up to boot).
I had generated an SR to Oracle and was told to try to create additional Adm accounts via the WL Admin console's Security Realm.
None worked. Just got a 'Invalid ID or password. Please try again'. Did a webonline consult with Oracle earlier today and Oracle support saw what I'm seeing.
Oracle support is going to do some more research. Meantime, hopefully someone in this community might have some knowledge on the following.
Been trying to trace down if the user account (re Participant) is stored in a DB table.
Was scanning through all the SOA schema's but was not able to find it.
Does anyone know where the user/participant is stored and how to add or check the configuration for it when I'm not even able to login with the adm account to do that in the Business Porcess workspace?
I'm not sure if user/participant is actually maintained via the WL Admin console's Security realm since the WL installation prompts for creating the WL admin account/password and so does the SOA BPM configuration which then implies the latter is for the Process administration and the former is for WL administration and thus could not be maintained via the same place.
Appreciate any enlightenment you can provide on how this works.

Thanks for the confirmation it is via WL.
With regards to the em, I was suspecting that and was trying to install it (re linux 64 version).
Kept on running into problems with that install as well at the DB level - it kept on needed more DB resources that our DBA everntually got too concern about and halted any further attempts on it.
Oracle support had responded on that EM install problem by indicating I don't really needed EM to admin the obpm, but rather to login to the workspace as a bpm admin user. I was able to get in on the first install to that workspace with the adm acct 'weblogic' but something happened to that environment the next day that made it unusuable - don'r remember the details - which led me to have to uninstall and reinstall everything which led to the current problem where the weblogic admin acct or any WL account setup in the WL admin console could be used to login to the workspace.
On that first install, although I was able to see some admin functions on the workspace with the admin account, I was not able to find the user account adm page that the doc said should be there.
While waiting for Oracle support to respond to the lastest last Friday, I had found another set of 11g Oracle installation instruction page which seem a bit comprehensive and specific to just the obpm rather than being so cafeteria style that I had origianlly found for the obpm 11g downloads and installs. Tried that and it seemed smooth until near the end where I was doing the start servers but could not actually find the soa_server1 defined to even start. So had to abandon that instruction and go back to the original and try de-install and re-install again.
In the middle of that process at the moment and got Oracle SR respond that the user account problem is a known problem and to try creating a new domain. Unfortunately, that env is gone to try that part. Will do so if the reinstalls leads to the same problem.
So thanks for responding. The alternative 11g obpm installation page that had link to a sample and tutorial did also confirm your statement. Unfortunately, that was more for the windows platform and linux 32 bit platform whereas I'm working in the linux 64 bit version which I am starting to suspect may not be as usable yet.
I've been ignoring two warning messages in the obpm 11g installs as there was nothing I could do to avoid them. One was a warning about the soa 11.1.1.2.0 prereq check warning something about the OS. The other is during the soa config step, it complained the jdk was a lower version that required. It was set at the sun sdk 1.6.0 which is the required version. I'm suspect the warning was the requirement was the 4th level of the version required is 18 whereas I don't see a 4th level number on our sdk which implies it would be 0.
I don't see how these could lead to the various problems I've been having with the installation to work. Another funny installation problem was the soa 11.1.1.3.0 runinstaller kickoff in some occassions would not proceed due to the prereq checks indicating there was not enough free swap space. The installer said it needed 512M min and that there was only 511M avaialble (whereas the linux swapon -s command indicated there was 524m available and 0 used). In an earlier install, the avaialble swap space was 1G. I didn't notice who or what reduced it to 524M. On having our SA restore it back to 1G, the installer was able to continue in those incidents (had several of them over time).
Wondering, has anyone got the Linux 64 11g obpm engine working?

  • Error msg on user setup

When setting up a new user you get a error message at the botom of the screen when a field is not setup correctly. For example if user name already exist or password is short,..... How can we change the color of the error message to a different color so it will be visible to the user.

What color do you get currently?  It should a red error message.  That is normally very easy to tell.
    Thanks,
