ICal items lost

My MacBook Pro unexpectedly had an error message that my computer had to be re-started.  after it starting again all my iCal data who gone.  Mail was fine.  Do I sync from my iPhone to get these items back on my MacBook?
Thank you

I also should add that when i chose 'import from Entourage', the computed started searching for the entourage information and then asked me to specify where entourage is, because it could not find that component, to that window I already clicked 'cancel'.
I have found some files under the Library>Calendars - a calendar cache file and some .plist files.
There are different instructions on the web forums, but I have not succeeded in finding an exactly similar problem therefor I hope someone can advise me on this specific one!
Thank you!
Liisi

  • ICal has lost all my entries and quits when opened

I know that people have had problems with iCal quitting unexpectedly and I have read through the posts relating to those problems, but nothing quite fits what has happened to me.
iCal has 'lost' all of my entries in the various calendars that I have set up, including the subscribed calendar of public holidays. When opened the spinning ball of death starts and then the program quits.
I have been on other user accounts which are synced with this computer and iCal is working/displaying normally. I have created a new entry in a calendar whilst logged on as another user.
When I have checked Library:Application Support: iCal there are 1,929 items in the Sources folder all created at the same time (I have only established 8 calendars + 1 subscribed in reality).
I have backed up a synced iCal from another user account, put it in User:Shared so it is now available on my desktop. Unfortunately when I try to open it, it hangs and iCal eventually quits again.
    Any ideas?

  • In Ical I lost one of my calendar group, how do I restore it from time capsule

in Ical i lost one of my calendar groups, how do I get it back.  I have a time capsule.
    thanks

    salvsalinas,
Look in your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library Folder, where you will find a "Calendars" Folder, which can be replaced using Time Machine.
Make sure that you quit iCal before attempting to replace the folder, and choose a timeline when the group last existed.
    Good Luck.

  • ICal has lost all events after upgrade to 10.8.3.

iCal has lost all events and calendars except for birthdays after upgrade to 10.8.3. If I sync to my iPhone, will it wipe them from the phone, or will it get the events from the phone?
I have Time Machine working, but am unsure how to restore calendars from it.
    PLEASE HELP.

Not sure why you think having to re-authorize would indicate an incompatibility or problem with their software unless you meant you have to keep re-authorizing the plugin?
Some plugins need re-authorization when you change a certain file or files in your system.. or if the file structure itself changes.. or the drive is renamed for example.. It could simply be that IK used a different form of authorization routine to their other plugins or versions of their plugins, with Amplitude 2.... Nothing to do with an incompatibility...or problems.
Anyhow I am happy you got the matter resolved and yes, random bursts of white noise is a classic sign of a plugin running in demo mode and needing authorization or re-authorisation as I suspected in your case.

  • Is it possible to recover ical data lost in a sync?

Is it possible to recover ical data lost in a sync?

Your only bet is to resotre from the Time Machine backup. However when you do this the sync process will promptly delete the calendars again, so you need to work through the slightly convoluted method detailed in this page:

  • Export / import privacy property in ical items

    Hi
I run into a problem with the privacy property in iCal items (calendar events and to do items). Exporting and importing iCal items as .ics file don't retain the privacy information (the private flag) I can set in the items property dialog. This is pretty bad, as for some of the events and to do items, I'd like to keep this information in any backup I make.
Is there something I can configure in the client or in the server?
iCal server is OS X 10.6.8 on a Mac mini server, iCal client is OS X 10.6.8 on my MacBook Pro.

    Hi,
I'm using Word 2007. A Captivate support specialist also
mentioned the issue about Word 2007 being a possible cause of the
    problem.
I still haven't been able to do the text import, but I found
a work-around. I've been copy/pasting the text from the Word doc
into each text caption individually. It's a tedious process, but it
    appears to be working.
    Thanks for replying

  • How do I remove iTunes without all my purchased items lost?

How do I remove iTunes without all my purchased items lost?

    iTunes stores you music in:
    Music\iTunes\iTunes Media...
This should not be affected by uninstalling iTunes.
It is always prudent to backup your valuable music.

  • Can you sync your iPod touch with computer 1 for computer 1's iCal items and also sync the same iPod touch with computer 2 for computer 2's music, apps, etc. items?

I have a MacBook Pro through my college, and I have all my iCal items on that computer, but I have all my music, apps, etc. on a PC desktop that is my personal home computer.  I am wondering if I can sync my iPod touch with my MacBook for the iCal items and also with my PC for the music and such without loosing either of the two when trying to sync with the other computer?

  • Overwrote Library from one computer to another - items lost?

I wanted to make sure my library on my laptop was up to date with my desktop, and couldn't really find an easy way to do this. So, I connected the two with a firewire cable, then copied the whole iTunes Music folder over to the laptop. Normally, I make all my iTunes Store purchases on one computer, but I did buy a couple TV shows on my laptop. I was hoping, like in iPhoto, when you import photos, it would ignore the duplicates, and only copy over the new stuff - not the case.
So, this brings up a few questions: by writing over that whole folder, did I delete the purchased TV shows that were only on my laptop? If so, is there any easy way to recover them - is there a history of purchased items that would recognize that I paid for it and download it again? Is there any easier way to update only the songs that are new without having to compare the two folders to find where there are differences? That could be an especially difficult task.
If there isn't a way, I'd like to make a strong feature request to do so - much like the way you can sync contacts and calendars, you should be able to do the same with songs on the up to 5 computers you can authorize.
G5 Desktop   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   Transferring to MacBook Pro

    Hi Keith,
What you have done is a folder copy, which is really different than an importing process like the one that iPhoto can perform.
When you had perform the folder copy within the Finder, it should have said; "A folder named iTunes Music folder already exist, would you like to replace it?". By accepting that, you have replace the previous folder on your laptop; that means you lost everything that was inside to the profit of the new folder you were copying.
To my knowledge, there is no process to recover lost files through iTunes Music Store but I may be wrong on this. But, you should know that the backup feature Apple have had to iTunes 7 does allow a very simple process for backing up your purchased music. See:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iTunesMac/7.0/en/702x.html
For your last question, here is the answer. If you want to keep music files on two computers, you should keep seperates libraries. Library files are located within the iTunes music files and keep track of each and every songs imported by iTunes. With this library files, iTunes will allow importation like the one your mention using in iPhoto.
So, do the following if you want to import iTunes stuff; go in iTunes preferences in the advanced tab. Make sure the options "Keep iTunes Music Folder organized" and "Copy files to iTunes Music Folder when adding to library" are checked. Then, next time you want to import files or folders; simply drag them in the iTunes library window. iTunes will perform the importation as you mention you would like.
    hope this help.

  • PO item lost

    Hi,
We are dealing with a individual purchase order scenario where there is a purchase requisition created on creation of the sales order and from that a purchase order later on.
We are facing a problem when the PO item is lost (Vendor has delivered) at the time of GR. So, currently just an invoice is posted with no GR for the PO. So, to fulfil the commitment of the SO, another line item is created in the PR copying the lost item (the account assignment is copied) and a seperate PO is created for this new PR item.
The problem we face is that confirmations on the new PO does not affect the SO item(Material Availabilty date for example is not calculated based on the confirmations in the new PO item).
Could you please let me know how do we deal with this scenario
    Regards
    Deepak

    Hi,
By PO lost: i mean the vendor has delivered the product, but its damaged  / physically lost from our location.
This is not exactly a 3rd party Order as the vendor does not deliver directly to the customer but to our plant. Its like a normal PO where we do the GR and then a issue for the SO.
The problem occurs (quite rarely) when the goods are lost from our hand and we cannot fulfill the requirement of the SO, so manually a new line item is created in the PR  by copying the lost item and a new PO (for the new line item in the PR).
Can we link the SO to this new PO (Account assignment is the same). Confirmations in the PO do not reflect in the MAD calculation of the SO.

  • How do I deal with items lost in the mail. This has happened a few times.

I have had a few occasions where items have been lost in the mail.  Should I have to refund the buyer?

Well, this is a tricky one.The postal service is very very good at its job and it is very very rare that shipments don't get delivered. And coin collectors have a reputation ...... Well, if you can't say something nice. We've been selling by mail order for over 30 years, and of thousands upon thousands of shipments, I don't think even two dozen have ever been 'lost'. (Some have been returned for one reason or another and some have been delayed.) Given the low prices on your listed items, I assume that you don't use tracking. Given the cost, this is probably wise. So. You should be self-insuring (Cookie Jar Insurance). This means adding a small amount to every asking or shipping price, less than a dime, and putting all those virtual pennies into a virtual cookie jar. When you get a claim, you pay from the Cookie Jar. No eBay or PP involvement. And use PP Send Money for the refund. The FVF are also being covered by the Cookie Jar. I'd make a couple of minor changes to your standard feedback. Leave it on shipping, but add the date of shipping and the service used. This, in my opinion, will reassure your nervous honest buyer that the item is on its way but is coming from Canada, which might signal border displays. But if you get a claim that an item hasn't been delivered and you don't have Proof of Delivery, refund and move on. Being a grouchy and cynical person, I would also add that person to my Blocked Bidder List. At the very least, the address is not secure. Some other comments, completely unasked for: You might also want to add a grade to your coins. And since they are not top quality, the weight for those collecting bullion might be useful. I believe all the coins of Canada are catalogued by Charlton. Adding the catalogue number to your titles may help buyers in Search and makes you look more professional. Your description shows on my monitor as very small and a run-on block. Consider adding a little coding for easier reading. And you say:  buyer pays shipping and handling charges $1.00 in North America, actual shipping costs outside of North America, $0.50 for each additional item,You only have the shipping set for Canada. You don't need to put the shipping and handling cost into the description since it is already there in the appropriate tab.  I am not responsible for uninsured items. Yes, you are. And the buyer has no way of insuring an item you send. And insurance protects the seller not the buyer. Drop this, go to Cookie Jar Insurance and move on. Look for other sellers items for more coins for sale. Grammar police. This is actually telling your customers to go to 'other sellers'. Not a good idea. Missing the apostrophe.Change this to 'More coins available. Look at my other listings.' Don't refer to yourself in the third person.  Thanks for bidding and good luck in your auctions.Irrelevant and annoying to those impulsive mobile buyers. And the auctions you want him to use are yours not his. Again grammar police, but I am a retired editor and I just can't stop.

  • How can ical items entered offline be updated on icloud when back online?

My workplace blocks iCloud (and the app store). When I enter or modify ical events they do not update when I am back online at home. Refresh was of no help. I had to edit the items for them to appear on other devices. Is there a way around this?

    Here is what I did.
I got a message and forgot I still have til June... so like a fool I switched over online.
All I see is a new type of calendar. OK no biggie it has my data. But now the one on my MBP won't sync... with the phone, and the one on my iPhone was erased totally.. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I managed to reset the mail using the new server settings but that wasn't as important as the CALENDAR!!!
Also I don't DARE upgrade my iPhone (I can't anyway until I do 10.7 on the MBP but I have to make sure PS works on that first) because it has all my contacts and phone numbers, which are NOT the same as my groups of emails on my MBP...
The Contact book and Calendar data from the MBP are OK, they are up on iCloud and also saved as files on my HD in .ics, .icbu,  .vfc and .abbu data.
I would upgrade my iPhone but I just don't get why it has to be via iTunes... it is SOOO confusing.

  • After appearing for a few seconds, all iCal items COMPLETELY DISAPPEAR.

Ok, so this is a weird one.
Today I used iSync to synchronize my address book onto my cell phone which has worked fine in the past. The iCal option was unchecked since my phone does not support Calendar synchronization. I backed up my iCal and my Address Book prior to synching.
Afterwards, when I went to look at my iCal, I got a flash view of all my items, and then after a few seconds, everything disappeared. Completely. Everything. Gone.
So, I quit iCal, and re-opened it. The exact same thing happened. I was able to see all of my items, and then everything completely disappeared. I have since quite and re-opened iCal about 15 times, and each time, the same thing happens. Flash of my items, and then they are gone.
I have tried "Reverting to my Backup" which works for a moment, but then all of those items disappear as well.
Does anyone have any idea what in the world could be going on here? This is SO weird.

Though I don't have a solution for you, I can tell you that you're not alone. See the thread at http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1202000&tstart=0.

  • Duplicate iCal Items after 10.6.3 Update

After the latest software update to Mac OS X (10.6.3), I get duplicate items for everything in iCal (birthdays, holidays, events, etc). Anyone else having this problem and how do I delete all of the duplicates?

Days like this really make me question whether the Mac is indeed superior to Windows.
I've spent the last 4 hours recovering my calendars from this sync catastrophe. I keep about a dozen calendars in iCal (some are my own, others are subscriptions, a couple are CalDAV two-way links with Google Calendar). All of the calendars were replicated multiple times in iCal and on MobileMe - I had in excess of 150 items in my calendars list.
Some comments on how I've restored things so that hopefully others will not waste as much time as I have.
    * First, shut off MobileMe sync. I don't plan on ever synchronizing my calendars through Apple services again. After previous troubles culminating in the current disaster, I don't believe this product is salvageable.
    * Might be wise to disconnect from the Internet entirely while conducting surgery on your calendars. Several times, iCal somehow reconstructed files that I had explicitly deleted.
    * Quit out of iCal before doing anything.
    iCal files are in ~/Library/Calendars.
Delete the cache file in ~/Library/Calendars/Calendar Cache; also ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.iCal.
You need to use the command line for this.
Make a backup copy of your Calendars folder before following any of these instructions.
Each calendar is stored in a subfolder under ~/Library/Calendars. These folders are named with unique identifiers, like "F16776B1-14B9-428C-B6C9-4D240D894B3B.calendar". CalDAV subscriptions end with .caldav.
In each calendar folder there is an Info.plist file. Look at one of these files, towards the bottom you'll see: will include:
    <key>Title</key>
    <string>[CALENDAR TITLE HERE]</string>
Since we have replicated calendars, there will be many folders for calendars with the same title. So, given a calendar that you want to recover...
    $ cd ~/Library/Calendars
    $ CALS=`grep "CALENDAR TITLE" *.calendar/Info.plist|sed 's/\/.*//'|sort|uniq`
    $ for x in $CALS; do echo $x; ls -l $x/Events | wc; done
You'll get a list of calendar folders with the number of events in each calendar.
One of these folders is the one you want to keep. Probably the one that has the most events. If there are several with the same number of events, they are probably all identical copies, so just pick one.
DELETE all the other folders except the one you want to keep.
Repeat the process for every other unique calendar.
When you're done, the number of .calendar folders in ~/Library/Calendars should be reasonable (in my case).
Check again that there are no cache files left in the ~/Library/Calendars folder.
Your calendars should now be repaired. Make another backup copy of the entire Calendars folder - because iCal has a tendency to "fix" things of its own accord, so the pollution could magically reappear later.
Start iCal. Things should be back to normal.
Watch out for mysterious processes called iCalExternalSync and Mingler consuming lots of CPU. I suspect that these are responsible for some of the calendar destruction insanity but I haven't caught them red-handed yet.
    Good luck!

  • ICal. Lost all my data.

Is it me or is iCloud calendar is just so ****? Synced with iCloud to test, turned it off because after sync iCal doesn't allow for calendar groups. Lost all of my calendars including a huge dates calendar with a load of events to repeat for years to come. I have no back up of this data...
I'm really scared to click on anytning in iCloud now. If all my Contacts go I would be destroyed...literally my Contacts is how I make my living.

That was foolish, but try this:
Go to www.icloud.com, login with your icloud credentials, see if your calendar is there.
Institute some kind of Backup Routine Now.
