ICal Publishing on .Mac

I've created groups and published a calendar to my .Mac server. However the events in the calender don't show up on the web calender so the group members can only brows an empty calendar . What is wrong ?

Max,
When you say: I've created groups and published a calendar to my .Mac server.Do you mean .Mac?
If so, I would advise clicking on your Calendar in the source pane and then iCal>Calendar>Unpublish...
Then click on the Calendar in the source pane and use the iCal>Calendar>Publish.. once again. Do not use any special keyboard characters, nor more than one word names to identify the calendar.

  • Publishing iCal on the .Mac

I want to publish my iCal to the .Mac and know how to do this, but I have different categories like school, work, sports, appointments, and other things and when I publish them to the iCal I have a different web sites for each category. I want to publish all of my events onto one iCal page on the .Mac server, is this possible?

    George,
Choose File>New Calendar Group and then drag your individual calendars to the group. Publish the Group (Make sure the name is a single word).

  • Securely publishing iCal calendars via .Mac

i want to securely share (publish/subscribe) calendars among just the members of my family. we share a .Mac family account with a Shared iDisk folder that is, in theory, for our exclusive use.
if i publish to .Mac, it appears the calendars are viewable by anyone with the correct URL, not just my family.
if i try to publish to a Private Server using the URL for the .Mac Shared folder (Base URL: http://idisk.mac.com/myaccountname/Shared), the required Login: account name intrudes into the syntax for the pathname to the location. text box says "Publish failed for calendar "xxx". Could not create calendar on http://[email protected]/accountname/shared/calendarname.ics"
any ideas on how to securely share iCal calendars among family members on .Mac?
    thanks very much.

after a couple more hours of digging, i answered my own question.
here's a relevent article with the answer: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61725
the .Mac Family Pack includes an iDisk Shared folder to which all accounts (master account and up to 4 sub-accounts) have shared access. by substituting "Shared" for "Documents" in the URL pathname syntax in the article, i was able to publish calendars into the Shared folder. then, subscriptions were per the article except that any family member's account name and password provided access to the folder.
i think i just had the syntax wrong for publishing to begin with. i don't remember for sure, but i think i may have been using "www.mac.com" instead of "idisk.mac.com".
anyway, it appears to be working.

  • ICal Sync: Modify Home, publisher to .Mac?

I turned on my mac at work this morning and received a sync alert from iCal about two modifications to calendars:
    "Home, publisher to .Mac
filter to dos from .Mac published calendar: YES
filter alarms from .Mac published calendar: YES"
    and
    "Work, publisher to .Mac
    ..same text as above..."
I have a mac at home that I sync, but I hadn't made changes to the calendar in a while. Does any one knows what these "Modifications are for and is it safe to hit "Sync Calendars? I don't use, have or share calendars with Publisher.
I will appreciate your help here!

  • Try to publish ical - error "your .Mac account information is not correct"

I try to publish a calendar from my home computer so that I can see it on my work laptop (both Macs); and I get an error "Your .Mac account configuration is not correct. Calendar could not be published. Your .Mac account information is not correct. You cannot publish to .Mac until you have configured your .Mac account." Its setup and configured. Any ideas?

I had the same thing and did the following two things which got it to publish. Not sure which one fixed it but give it a go.
    1. Open your .mac pane in system preferences. Sign out and sign back in.
    2. Change the name of the calendar you're trying to publish.
    Good luck!

  • Event invitations not published to .mac web page with rest of calendar

I've published a calendar to the .mac web server successfully, and the web page for the named calendar shows up fine in browsers at the appropriate URL.
However, when I receive an invitation from somebody else, and accept it, and put it into that (published) calendar, that event does NOT get published to the web page. Any idea why?
    Example
    - Joe uses Google Calendar to invite me to a meeting
    - Google calendar sends me a .ics file in email
    - I open the .ics file (click in Apple Mail, which launches iCal)
    - I view the invitation in iCal; then change the status to "Accepted" (from Invited), and change the Calendar for this event to the Calendar I've published on .mac
    - (iCal properly notifies Joe via a reply .ics via email that I've accepted)
    - iCal is properly updating my schedule on .mac for all other events besides this meeting invitation; but the meeting invitation does not get pushed to the .mac web page for my calendar
Item of note: In this use case, I am NOT the event Organizer; somebody else is. Is this why iCal doesn't do it? Or is there something I'm not setting correctly in iCal? Or...?
This renders .mac-web-published calendars effectively useless, since a good share of my calendar is made up of people who email me .ics invitations, and (for various reasons) the person who manages my schedule has to use the .mac web UI for my calendar to know when she can dish out my time. (She doesn't actually put things in my schedule; just allots time.)

  • Can't access my iCal  through my .Mac account

I would like to be able to view my iCal while at work or on another computer away from home.
I assumed I could do this by logging onto .Mac (which I do to view my mail)
I see references to this in regards to syncing my iCal for others to view.
I have gone through all the sync motions through System Preferences/.Mac/sync. But I do not see any way to view my iCal from within .Mac.
    Apparently I am iLost.
    Can someone help me here?
    Many Thanks,
    sswift

You're not lost. No one can see their synchronized calendars on .Mac in the same manner as they can bookmarks and contacts. The provision to display synchronized calendars on .Mac simply does not exist at the present time.
You can publish your calendars to a predictable URL using either .Mac or a private WebDAV server, but these published calendars are read-only objects, and therefore cannot be edited on the web. Until Mac OS X 10.5, Mac OS X 10.5 Server, an updated version of iCal, and the new applications Teams and iCal Server ship, you will be limited to synchronizing calendars to other Macintosh desktop computers through .Mac, using MySync or using SyncTogether, to publish read-only copies of one or more calendars and subscribe to those published calendars from one or more computers, or to do both.

  • Can I have ical On My Mac and iCloud ?

Before iCloud, I could Publish a calendar on a Private Server as an  .ics file on my web site using ftp.   Pretty slick.   That way other people can import or subscribe to that file on my web site, and I can just update it in iCal on my Mac.
Now if I use iCloud for my calendars on my Mac, it forces me to merge all of them and I lose that ability.    Ideally, I'd like to have both with some of my calendars on iCloud, and this one I publish with ftp On My Mac.
    Any way to do that?

"iCloud requires iOS 5 on iPhone 3GS or later, iPod touch (3rd and 4th generation), iPad, or iPad 2; a Mac computer with OS X Lion; or a PC with Windows Vista or Windows 7 (Outlook 2007 or 2010 or an up-to-date browser is required for accessing email, contacts, and calendars). Some features require a Wi-Fi connection. Some features are not available in all countries. Access to some services is limited to 10 devices."

  • ICal Publishing

I published an iCal from my Powerbook, backed up the file to my G4 moving the plist file and the iCal folder in application support. The G4 iCal no longer appears as a published iCal. What file in the library contains the iCal publishing info that I need to copy from my Powerbook to my G4 or do I need to unpublish the iCal on the Powerbook and then publish on the G4, assuming you can't publish the same iCal from two different sources?

Don't know about iCalX but you can do this without problem on .Mac..
Month view is limited by size but clicking on the day will show you that day and all events.

  • How do I get rid of duplicate entries in iCal on my mac after commencing iCloud?

I just got a new iPhone 4s, and have set up iCloud.  I managed to sync everthing i think (ie. contacts + calenders) but now on my mac iCal I have three duplicate calender entries for one event, but only one entry on my iPhone.  If I delete just one of the entries from the iCal on my mac (leaving 2 still there), the one calender entry on my iphone disappears.  Please help.  It is driving me mad!!

You don't want to get rid of, it's a security feature. If someone steals your Mac, all that account permits is Safari access, no other access to the computer. This enables you to locate your Mac.

  • How do I sync iCal on my mac with OS 8 devices

How do I sync iCal on my mac with OS 8 devices

    Hi jgiolma,
Since you do not mention what version of the Mac operating system you are running on your MacBook Pro it is a little hard to answer your question. For computers running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 or later one way to sync your calendars would be to use iCloud. See this article for minimum system requirements for iCloud -

  • ICal on the Mac doesn't sync to iPad and iPhone

I'm syncing using iCloud. A calendar update on the iPhone will sync in iTunes but the sync only updates the iPad calendar. iCal on the Mac doesn't update to the newer iPhone calendar events. I also tried it by hooking the iPad directly to the Mac via the cable, and the newer events on the  iPad calendar (which had the new events transferred via sync from the iPhone) didn't transfer to iCal. On the Mac in iTunes, I have the calendar named "Home" checked, which is the same name as the calendars on the iPhone and iPad.
How do you sync the Mac iCal to the iPhone and iPad calendars?

The 'Home' calendar does not sync to iCloud, only the iCloud calendar does that.
In the iCloud control panel have you turned calendar sync on? and are you seeing the iCloud calendar in iCal?, all calendars in the 'On my Mac' group are local, they do not sync.
Also, check in iCal>Preferences>Accounts, to ensure that iCloud is subscribed to in iCal:

  • I cant create new events in iCal on my Mac or display them

Since a few days ago after upgrading to Lion when I want to create a new event it
dosent show up in my calender. All the old events is shown and when I create an
event for example on my iPhone and sync with iCal on my Mac I can see the
    new event.
I click in the calender to make a new event, nothing shows up, but when syncing
with my iPhone I can see the new event without any text because I didnt see the
small eventbar to type in or make the right time for the event. Can anybody help
    me with this issue?
    Regards,
    Collins from Sweden!

Called Apple fast track support and problem is resolved. User error, for some reason I had selected the wrong calendar - after selecting the proper calendar on the left sidebar I could create events. Apparently at some time I created a 'todo' mailbox. It had nothing in it and I ended up deleting it so it doesn't get selected again in error.
Took 15 minutes to connect with an ICAL specialist. Once connected received excellent support.
