ICal User Cant login - No Principal Found

Question

have an ical user on 10.6 new macbook, connecting to Leopard Server 10.5.1
Everything was fine when the user was on 10.5 but now on 10.6 he cant log in.
I can create that account on any of our 10.5 boxes but same error on all of our 10.6 boxes.
we get the following:

I have searched high and low, tried re-starting all services and machines.

I think the first place to look is the fact that the server is still 10.5.1. You will likely not get much to work with that until you get up to 10.5.8. And then I am still not sure you will get the results you want. Apple did not exactly provide a compatibility release of Leopard to work with the Snow Leopard tools. 10.5.8 was an attempt at it but not complete. The Snow tools support features not existing in Leopard. If there is a business reason for 10.5.1 still on the server, then do not attempt to change. Roll the 10.6 system back to 10.5.x. If you decide to upgrade the server, make a backup before you attempt. Then follow these general steps:
1: Shut off all services except OD, DNS, and Software Update Service (if configured)
2: Reboot the server
3: Apply the 10.5.8 combo update
4: Be patient (on PPC systems it may take an hour to apply)
5: The machine will reboot twice. This is normal
6: After applying all the patches, restart your services and make sure they are working
