IChat AV logging half way...if that's possible?

Hi, I have a mac 10.3.9. I have been using iChat for ages, with the iSight for about a year and a half. Suddenly, tonight, it won't work. Here is what happens...
I use the 'bubble' on the task bar to make myself available. The green light on the iSight blinks on once then goes off. The icon for iChat in the dock bounces once, the triangle comes on for a moment, and then the triangle goes away.
From the task bar, the icon shows me as available and my buddies - without the video icons. If I try to select a buddy, nothing happens. They can see me, and send me a message, but nothing comes up on my screen.
I have done a verify and repair disk. But I am kind of stumped...any ideas?

Hi Isabella,
This sounds like it is one of those little things that happen now and then.
WE need you to do some investigating.
Copy and Paste the bold line of Text into Terminal (Applications/Utilties) and hit enter. It will cause iChat to launch and create a log in Terminal.
/Applications/iChat.app/Contents/MacOS/iChat -errorLogLevel 7
To Stop first Quit iChat (if it has not stopped already)
Copy and Paste any log that includes a "Broken Pipe" end to the log. IF not copy and Paste the log to a Text editor and save it. Post the first twenety lines of it here.
Now Quit Terminal and say yes to ending all.
If it says "Broken Pipe" it is likely you will have to Reinstall the Application See here: Ryan M., "I've deleted iChatAV 2.x - Can I get it back?", 05:36pm Dec 1, 2004 CDT
Do the Application install first and then try it. If it does not work reinstall InstantMessage.framework
In both cases move the current App or folder out of the way before reinstalling.

    Hi,
    I have been trying, without sucess, to download music from CDs. The download starts and a little more than half way through the download, iTunes and everything else freezes. I have yet to get through a complete CD. I have tried removing and reinstalling. I even tried to just download one song at a time (the ones that didn't originally download) and it freezes half way through that download as well. I am able to download from the iTunes store without any issues.
    I thought it was my memory on my PC, so I deleted a ton of stuff and now about half disk free space now available.
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Creative Cloud Installer gets half way through downloading the desktop app then just disappears, without downloading, why is that?
    I have recently purchased a student subscription to the 'complete package', my credit card was charged.  Then I download the Creative Cloud Installer from the website, that's fine, then I double click the Creative Cloud Installer as per instructions, it starts downloading the desktop app, but only gets to about halfway then just disappears. 
    I've tried using both safari and chrome, restarting my computer, but neither has worked.
    I have noticed that the website will not keep me logged in for long either, it keeps switching to BUY instead of DOWNLOAD. 
    Any ideas?

  • Stutters and logging out half way through movies

    Hi all, At first I thought this was just me. I had created a couple of trailers in iMovie which played fine on everything but the AppleTV. That continuously dropped frames every second, turning smooth video into something that is jittery and unpleasant to watch.
    But now it did the same thing with The Girl Who Played With Fire which I rented last night. Up until that point, rented movies have always been fine.
    In addition, in both the last two films we have rented, the AppleTV has suddenly stopped playing the film at some point (about half ways through one and only 10 mins into the other) and dropped back to the menus.
    Why I don't know, but the film would not be showing as ready to play and investigating the settings would so that I had been logged out of iTunes. Once I log back into iTunes, I can then restart the film and everything seems to be fine after that.
    Any ideas?

    I'd recommend deleting the movie, then redownloading it from the iTunes Store.

    If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:

    Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

    I get a message that an update is available and when I install it the update stops half way through and I get the error code: U44M1I210 for Camera Raw and Elements 13.1 updates. I get the message "UPDATES COULD NOT BE APPLIED" Can someone help with this? Thank you. David

    Is your Premiere Elements 13 on Mac computer?
    I have not seen much in the way of alternatives coming from Adobe on the Premiere Elements 13.1 failed updates.
    But there seems to be several discussions on U44M11210 in the CC products...one

    You could try the uninstall, free ccleaner, reinstall with antivirus and firewall(s)  and then try for the Help Menu/Update for 13.1..

  • HT1414 My 4th gen iPod touch is slow and has a lot of lag time with the touch screen and home button. It's just slow. Its a 32 gb thats barly half way full and im very disappointed. what do i do?

    My 4th generation iPod touch is super slow and sometimes i have to click the home button multiple times before anything happens. Its up to date and is a 32 gb but barely half way full. My friends have the same kind as i do, and they have the same problem. Mine is a little over a year old and i'm VERY disappointed in something that i spent over $300 for. What am i supposed to do to make this peice of crap work like it's supposed to? I paid a lot of money for it and i expect it to work but the only thing i've heard so far is "turn it on and off." Yeah... cause that solves everything. Does anyone know how to help me?

    Periodically double click the home button and close all the apps in the recently used dock. Then power off and then back on the iPod. This frees up memory. The 4G only has 256 MB of memory.
    Also, sometimes restoring the iPod helps.

    I imagine a ton of people are attempting to activate after the update, and the server is getting overloaded. Simple patience, maybe keep trying, and if possible, try a little later. Think of it as all those people lining up at Apple Stores + about a million more.

    Here's a possible fix for Error 11503 and for error 50.
    It worked for me and hopefully it will work for you.
    I believe this error is caused by the incomplete downloading of either an update to an app, or perhaps a big music file. In my case it was caused by closing the lid on my laptop when I was downloading app updates on a very slow internet connection in a hotel.
    Anyway, here is what I did that fixed it completely.
    Close iTunes.
    Go to this folder : /iTunes/Mobile Applications/Downloads
    You'll find tmp files there. Drag them out of this folder to a temporary folder on your desktop. The Downloads folder should now be empty.
    Restart iTunes.
    All should be fine.
    If it's not, then I can't help further, but that's what worked for me.

    I have created a new user profile to no vail.

    I try an access the store.  It looks like something is clearly missing.  Have done just about everything I have seen
    on threads but nothing works.  Really need help.

    I definitely understand wanting to maintain your information. If you have suspended your account, you are still able to access your My Verizon online account to review contacts saved with Backup Assistant or media and call logs saved with Verizon Cloud. Are you having trouble accessing your account?
