IChat server admin Service Running, status not available

X-Serve running 10.6.8
I noticed the other day thaat when I look at the iChat service in Server Admin, I observed the following:
iChat service is: Running
Start Time: Not Available
Domain: Not Available
Client Connections: Not Available
The log screen says No Log Files exist
I have seen similar screens when there was a slight lag in server admin gathering information to display on screen.  This stays this way indefinately.  The service is working as far as I can tell, IE people can log in, add each other, and chat.  A log file is in fact being used and updated (/var/jabberd/message_archive/)
I noticed this because I was trying to autobuddy.sh, I script I use often to update when I add new users to the organization so they show up in everyones group list.  I attempted to stop the service from the command line using:
#:serveradmin stop jabber
#:jabber: state = RUNNING
and was never able to stop iChat.  The system behaves the same after a reboot.  I am not sure what to do, or what the actual problem is.  The only thing besides a reboot that I tried was a permission repair from within the OS.
In the log below I removed some user specific information because they are user names for users on my network.  This server and service is internal only.
the console logs I have this:

Any help on what might be going on or a push in a direction would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Well I searched the forums here and I found some similar issues, however the fix's I was directed too did not resolve the problem.
I did notice this today after reading a post regarding the use of the .local domain name, and fixing that fixes this issue:
When i selected my server on the left hand side of server admin, click on settings at the top (the gear) then on Network, I see:
Ethernet 1 (eth0) IPv4 192.1.1.4 Aphrodite.local
I am not sure where the .local is coming from.  This is an internal server and has been configured with a FQDN for 2 years now, aphrodite.cotaoil.net.  On the server, the only other place I see the .local, is in system preferences, sharing, at the top it has my fqdn, but when I click on edit, it has a local host field that says Aphrodite, with a .local greyed out after, or ghosted.
When I use the command changeip -checkhostname I recieve:
changeip -checkhostname
Primary address     = 192.1.1.4
Current HostName    = aphrodite.cotaoil.net
The DNS hostname is not available, please repair DNS and re-run this tool.
dirserv:success = "success"
the hostname not available message is new (well I know at some point in the not too distant past I did not have this message) so I am not sure if an update broke this or not but basically I am not sure where to go from here.
The DNS settings are set the same as they were when I originally set up the server.  Reviewing DNS logs, I do not see anything abnormal.
additionally when I run scutil i get:
aphrodite:~ root# scutil --get LocalHostName
Aphrodite
aphrodite:~ root# scutil --get ComputerName
Aphrodite.cotaoil.net
I am a little stumped as to where to go from here.  I believe based on some other posts Ive read that this may have something to do with why I cannot see any iChat status and am recieving the dreaded "detailed service status not available until network configuration completed"
Thanks for any and all thoughts.  Currently reviewing Hoffs tutorials, but I used combined Hoff tutorials and apple server guides when originally set up the server.  Please let me know what I did wrong (besides my internal IP range)

  • Timer Job job-application-server-admin-service spiking CPU after every minute

    Hi all,
I have an issue in my SP2010 Farm that all the servers spiking CPU to 100% after a minute or so. I have drilled down and found that the following timer jon is the culprit.
Timer Job job-application-server-admin-service. If I change the service running to 2 minutes (default is 1 Min) then the spikes comes after every 2 minutes.
Please suggest what I can do about this?

Was it working fine previously. If yes, what changes happened which caused this issue
    1. Check the ULS + Eventviewer logs at the time when this issue happens.
    2. Collect perflog files and execute PAL on that this will give you the complete analysis of processes and performance at that time.
    Check below:

    http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:nJYnqC6ug8cJ:sharepointfraggel.blogspot.com/+&cd=3&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=in
    Fix the problem
Manually clear the file system cache on the local servers (fe's) on which the timer service is running (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/939308)
Stop the SharePoint Timer Service in Administrative Tool/Services.
Go to the cache folder. For Windows Server 2008: Drive:\ProgramData\Microsoft\SharePoint\Config
Find the folder that contains the file Cache.ini
Delete all the XML configuration files in the folder so that you can verify that the folder is replaced by new XML files when the cache is rebuilt.
Open the Cache.ini file, delete all content in the file and type 1, save and exit.
    Start the SharePoint Timer service

  • TF255186: The following SQL Server Reporting Services Instance could not be found

    Hi,
I'm trying to install TFS 2013 on a remote SQL RS instance.
Using the TFS 2103 U4 installation
SQL 2012 RS, name instance, Server: SQLProdA, Instance Name COMRS
When I enabled tracing using debugView I see the following output:
[4160] [Error  @11:07:10.978] Exception Message: TF255186: The following SQL Server Reporting Services Instance could not be found: COMRS. The server name is: SQLProdA. (type TfsAdminException)
Any ideas what the issue is?
    Thanks,
    reuvy

    Hi Charles,
Thanks for the help. I already saw those links, and am already trying with the format. As I wrote above:
    Server: SQLProdA, Instance Name COMRS
So I wrote in the box "SQLProdA\COMRS" (without quotes of course) and I still keep getting that error.
I don't know if it matters, but although this is indeed a named instance, nonetheless, the path to the report server uses the default url (ie.
http://servername/reports) as opposed to the name instance version (ie.
http://servername_instance/reports) as mentioned by your link and this post:
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb552341.aspx
But, I checked with Fiddler on the server and didn't see it trying to even access the link so I don't think it is related. I saw with Process Monitor that it is indeed trying to access via the network resources on SQLProdA, so I know it's trying.
I have noticed something in the past, and wondered if this could be the issue, that for example if I have Management Studio 2014 installed, I cannot connect to a Reporting Services instance which is 2012. Only when Management Studio 2012 is installed
and being used can I connect. I wondered if this possibly could be related, that maybe the API or something else which the installer is using is missing some component to connect to the RS instance.
Just in case, I already installed both the SQL 2012 and 2014 Client Tools Connectivity (although I first installed 2014, and then 2012).
Do you think this could be the issue? If not, do you possibly have any other leads?
    Thanks,
    Reuvy

  • SQL Server Browser service group does not exists. Check for earlier failures in the setup. during sql express 2008 R2 setup

    Hello,
I have an issue while installing SQL Server 2008 R2 Express. When I was installing SQL Server, I occurred an error message as shown in the figure.
I have followed couple of links as in
    this and
this links but it did not fix the issue. Can anyone help me on this issue?
    Regards
    Gaurav

    Hi gauravroondhe2306,
According to your description, you fail to install SQL Server 2008 R2 express with the error that SQL Server Browser service group does not exist. Please help to post SQL Server setup error log for analysis. By default, SQL Server setup summary and detail
    logs are located in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap\Log.
Based on my research, this issue could occur when you install SQL Server on a Domain Controller, or the machine's name has been changed and the browser service group is named with the original machine's name.
To troubleshoot the issue, you could follow the solutions below.
1.Use SQL Server 2008 R2 Best Practice Analyzer to detect if SQL Server is installed on a domain controller. If SQL Server is installed on a domain controller, please demote your machine from being a domain controller and install the SQL Server again since
it is not recommended to install SQL Server on a domain controller.
2.Check if the name of local user group matches the machine's current name. If it doesn't match, please change the name of the local user group accordingly, and install SQL Server again. For more information about the process, please refer to the article:
    http://geekswithblogs.net/TedStatham/archive/2014/04/15/installation-problems-with-sql-server-2008-r2-express.aspx

  • The interchange contained a malformed ISA or the Service schema was not available, it is being rejected completely

    Hi All,
I am new in EDI processing in BizTalk. Below is my configuration for EDI.
I have a text file of EDI 834 data. I need to generate the xml msg of the edi txt file.
                 Added a EDI 834 schema(only one schema).
Created two party with validation namespace.
Added a peceive pipeline with dis assembler component as EDI Disassembler(I did  not set any property here)
Deployed and created a receive location as .txt file and seted filter as bts.ReceiveProtName to send port.
    Getting the below error:
The interchange contained a malformed ISA or the Service schema was not available, it is being rejected completely
Plz help me to resolve it
    Thanks in advance.
    Uttam
    Thanks UK

I resolved it by work around.
    1. On BizTalk part, I have created an Aggrement for Sender and Receiver.
    2. The ISA6(Sender Id) and ISA8(Receiver Id) field need to be 15 characters (recomended including space).
    Thanks UK

You need to be in a country to use its store, so unless you are in the US with a US billing address on your account then you can't buy from the US store - you can only use the South African store. You can try requesting that the song be added to the South African store, but unless the rights-holder agrees to it then Appl won't be able to sell it there : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html

  • [SOLVED] Can't make Akonadi server / Nepomuk service run

I'm currently running KDE SC 4.9 on Arch Linux x86_64, system fully up to date.
My laptop's HD went dead some days ago so I had to restore my system from a 2-weeks old backup; I usually use fsarchiver to backup root partition and 7z to compress ~/.kde4 and ~/.config so this way I'm covered up about these kind of things.
So after restoring my system and home folder I did a full upgrade (nearly a gigabyte of downloads) and while most things seems to work well I found that Nepomuk isn't running, when I try to start it manually I have this error message:
"Failed to start the desktop search service (Nepomuk). The settings have been saved and will be used the next time the server is started."
Going back to the wiki I did my homework re-configuring Akonadi but so far I can't make Nepomuk run.
    This is what I have:
    ~/.config/akonadi/akonadiserverrc
    [%General]
    Driver=QMYSQL
    [QMYSQL]
    Name=akonadi
    Host=localhost

    Password=akonadiuser
    Options="UNIX_SOCKET=/home/msx/.local/share/akonadi/socket-heybeavis/mysql.socket"
    [Debug]
    Tracer=null
The database is already created and configured:
    mysql> show databases;

and the ~/.config/akonadi/mysql-local.conf is in place:

Already raked the forums and the net but can't find anything of help :(
    * UPDATE *
1.Further research shows akonadi database is empty so it seems Akonadi isn't connecting to MySQLd.
    2. I created a new user to simplify research and found the very same problem when trying to activate Nepomuk: Failed to start the desktop search service (Nepomuk). The settings have been saved and will be used the next time the server is started.
From what I remember Akonadi/Nepomuk/Soprano were working well in previous KDE 4.8.4.
    * UPDATE *
Solved after reinstalling all MySQL stack.
    Regards,
    Martin

  • IChat server suddenly stopped, now will not restart

I have a Snow Leopard Server hosting multiple email accounts and websites, file sharing, runing OD, running iCal server, and up until a few days ago running iChat server.  All other functions continue to work normally, but iChat Server simply stopped one day and now won't restart.  Around the same time my external Time Machine hard drive failed (ironic) and I restarted the server in an attempt investigate that failed drive.  About the time of that restart, iChat server stopped working.  Here is the most recent iChat Service Log from attempting to start iChat Server:

Thanks, Tim!  I noticed that I did not have access permission to the directory /jabberd.  As a result, I set the system admin user's permissions to read & write for that and all sub files in the directory.  I then tried to restart iChat Server and here's the new error log:

I see the errors related to not finding a .xml file and the failed initialization of sqlite storage driver, but I don't know how to fix these.  Any ideas?

  • Server Admin won't connect (not even locally)

One of my customers' machine crashed and had to be rebooted (So they say). I was not on site at the time and someone else with a "bit of knowledge" fiddled with the machine and tried to resurrect it (instead of leaving it for me to sort it out). Ever since there is no access to the server via the Server Admin (no server found) although the server is running fine and people are working from it. The Workgroup Manager is operational, though no sharing access is possible, only user privileges can be modified. The syslog reports the following message:
----"Feb 21 06:54:13 XServe servermgrd: servermgr_dns: no hostname set and unable to detect via DNS, services may not function properly - use changeip to repair
Feb 21 07:24:13 XServe servermgrd: servermgr_dns: no name available via DNS for 192.168.0.2"----
Very strange. I can ping it, the IP is fixed anyway and I have access to the machine via ARD 3 no probs, but both server manager and server monitor fail to connect, even locally. Something somehow went wrong and I haven't got a clue. Rebooted the machine, done the usual things to no avail.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Machine is on 10.4.8 and its a dual G5 with one Gig RAM. I noticed that the activity monitor reports more than half the system memory as 'inactive', leaving precious little free mem. The systm disk is 80 Gigs with 30 Gigs free.

    Hi
I had a similar situation on a server I was called in to have a look at after it was upgraded via software update from 10.4.2 to 10.4.8, the Open directory db went corrupt and the server administration tools would not work after that.
In the end I had to ditch the open directory and rebuild the server from scratch as the other IT guy did not have a decent backup.
Have you repaired permissions or tried Disk Warrior on the boot drive?
The DNS thing is something that Apple has inrtroduced in 10.4.8, many people are having the same error show in system.log, see the Network Services section under Mac OS X Server.

  • Mail, Server Admin, MySQL running very, very slow

    Hi all,
I have this Leopard Server on a Mac Mini and I experience some big bottlenecks on mail services (especially webmail), Server Admin connections (both local and remote), and also connections with mySQL clients (remote). Local MySQL is working fine. It is not the same for mail and Server Admin. They are very slow also for local connections. Any idea? Hint: I'm using a USB-ethernet adapter (from Apple) for my public IP's (I have 2 of them) and I use built-in ethernet for local network. I've switched them, I tried only with the built-in ethernet... no change. Please help... my enthusiasm about this server solution is getting lower and lower... Thank you very much

Have a look at system.log and mailaccess.log for clues to begin with.
Server Admin is usually slow (locally and remotely) when the DNS (forward and reverse) setup is not correct.
Since mySQL seems to have only problems when used remotely, I'd look at bandwidth, routers and switches involved.
Is mail only slow when used via webmail or via any IMAP client?
    You're a genius as usually
It seems that I removed my reverse zone accidentally... I didn't even think to look at DNS setting before you told me... Thank you very much

  • SQL Server Integration Services 11.0 not showing

    To whom it may concern,
I have been using SSIS 2008 R2 without a problem.  I then installed VS 2012 and migrated my SSIS packages from VS 2010 to VS 2012.  I also installed the BI Components (SSDTBI_VS2012_x86_ENU) in VS 2012,
All the SSIS packages runs fine within VS 2012.  As soon as I run the packages from the command line (i.e. "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\DTS\Binn\dtexec.exe") the packages referencing any lookup objects provides the following
    error:
    Error: 2014-04-21 13:20:15.85
    Code: 0xC000F427
    Source: Update Category SSIS.Pipeline
Description: To run a SSIS package outside of SQL Server Data Tools you must install Derived Column of Integration Services or higher.

    Source: Update Category SSIS.Pipeline
Description: To run a SSIS package outside of SQL Server Data Tools you must install Lookup [Table Name] of Integration Services or higher.
    End Error
I checked my services on my Local machine and the following integration service is the only one available:
SQL Server Integration Service 10.0 (i.e. SQL Server Integration Service 11.0 is missing)
I presume this is the problem.
I will appreciate it if someone can assist with this problem.  I have also tried to repair MS-SQL 2012 (Express Version) to no avail (Shared Features).
    Kind Regards,

Hi, I am running SSIS on a Local Dev Machine and I am trying to execute the packages via the "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\DTS\Binn\dtexec.exe" Command Line It look as though I need to remove my previous version of SSIS and then install the
    2012 SSIS.
I have also downloaded the extend MS SQL 2012 Express Version (1.9 GB), but still no no avail.  It therefore seems to be related to the previous version of SSIS that I possibly need to remove and then try to reinstall SSIS for 2012.
I will revert back as soon as I have done these tests.
As I said before, the Express version doesn't have SSIS.

    Dear all,
When we start OSB Managed Server, server status is showing Running Status in Web logic console and it is also serving the requests. but in server Start up log file, it is not showing 'Server started in RUNNING mode' after it started.

please some body show some light on it as we need to fix this issue urgently.
