How do I get iCloud to stop syncing contacts that I have manually deleted from my iPhone?

Only by restoring your phone as a new device using iTunes, or Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings. You follow this by syncing your content back to the phone. Either that, or you live with it. The data will be overwritten as you use your phone.

Are you syncing your phone with iTunes and then with iCloud? This can cause duplicates. Sync with one or the other, but not both.

Try restarting your iPad. HOld down the home and sleep keys, past when you see the red slider and until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and try again.

Icloud keeps duplicating emails in inbox cannot delete or mark read

New emails in my mail inbox cannot be marked as read or deleted. They keep reappearing on my iPhone 6 and iPad mini, as well as on my desktop Microsorft Exchange mail for this email account. They also keep reappearing on the iCloud mail on the iCloud web site. I have tried (1) just marking them as read on the iCloud web site and on every one of the devices; (2) deleting them on the web site and on every device, both after marking them as read and before doing so; (3) deleting them from the trash folder on the web site and on every device. Like bad pennies, they just keep re-appearing. What's the solution?

better than doing that would probably be to back up mail and pull the preference for mail. first write down your account info in mail preferences > accounts. back up mail by going to ~/library/ and finding the mail folder. hold down the option key and click and drag the folder to the desktop. make sure it makes a copy. then go to ~/library/preferences and trash the com.apple.mail.plist and restart the computer. when you open mail again, put in your account info and opt not to import mailboxes. then once mail is open again, go to file > import and select import mail for mac os x. then specify the path to the desktop where the copy of the mail folder is. pulling the preference and reimporting the mails will resolve most mail problems. let me know if that works. [ 8 ) ]

How do I keep my email contacts from being deleted when I delete a phone contact?

Please HELP!! I am a new iphone user and I am not understanding all this "icloud" stuff. I have "Contacts" turned off in my phone's icloud settings and on my computer's icloud settings. Every time I add or delete a contact in my phone, the same changes are made in my email contacts. There are certain contacts I need in my email that I don't need in my phone. Any help would be appreciated. Also, if I have "Find My Iphone" turned on, do I still need an app for it to work and is it true that if a person's phone is lost or stolen it can't be tracked if someone turns off "Find My Iphone" (if a restrictions passcode has not been set up) in the icloud settings?

I added a contact on my Mac Mini yesterday and it keeps adding the same contact over and over.. up to 4,600 duplicates and counting.. How do I stop it?
Here was the exact sequence.
1. Added a contact in Contacts.app on my Mac running OSX Mavericks 10.9
2. Contact was added to Contacts.app successfully.
3. Noticed only one contact in Contacts.app on Mac.
4. Opened Contacts on my iPhone 5S running 7.0.4 and searched for contact.
5. Noticed duplicates in Contacts on my iPhone 5S.
6. Looked at Contacts.app on Mac, Still only one.
7. Checked iPhone again, noticed several more contacts added and the data spin icon working in the status bar and more being added as I was watching.
8. Opened icloud via web browser, noticed same thing in the Contacts section.
9. Shutdown, Mac (thinking there was a bit of code open ended code)
10. turned off all iCloud Contacts on all iOS devices linked to this icloud account.
11. Less than 24 hours later... 4,600++ duplicate contacts in icloud and counting.
12. As I am writing this I deleted icloud from my mac.. thinking this is the bug's origination point.
what's next??

Step 12 Stopped the duplicate contact.

Why does my iPad keep loading old emails I have deleted previously from my mail?

I just got this iPad and I love it. I have a few email accounts and have the cloud set up. I have set 50 messages as my maximum but it keeps bringing in emails from my main email account. It overwhelms my iPad and causes it to slow down and lock up. I get a number 2 next to a lot of emails, they are duplicated on my iPad and iPhone

Yep, having the same problem as well. Tried all solutions, removed account from iPad, purged online emails. Still cannot delete email from the iPad. This is very frustrating. Its even a MobileMe account.......iOS better be a great update as I will be moving to Android if not.

Photo stream can do this, but iCloud Photostream is not permanent storage. It's only good for 30 days. After that, they are removed from the iCloud Photostream.

Instead of an OTA upgrade try doing an upgrade from iTunes on your computer. In this way a large portion of the upgrade will be on you computer instead of your iPhone.

No, I do not believe so. Time Machine would keep all those now-deleted files in previous backups, and as time goes by those backups might be deleted if you needed room, but it would still keep one backup from each day in last month, as well as one from each week forever, as long as you don't start running out of room, then just the oldest would be deleted to make room if needed.
I use a backup drive about double the size of my drive to be backed up, so I would guess it will never get to the point where deleted files being replaced by new ones being backed fill up that drive to the point where backups actually have to get deleted.

Please help me, I do not have an installation disk. This computer was built for me. I didn't realize the alias was not on the desktop and deleted it. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "the alias was not on the desktop and deleted it"? Do you mean that you deleted the alias from the Dock? If so, just go to your HD/Applications/System Preferences and drag an alias of it back to the Dock.
One simple thing you can try is to go to your Apple Menu in your top menu bar and select System Preferences from there and see if it opens.
Your System Preferences application should be found in your HD/Applications/System Preferences. If you have searched via finder and do not find the System Preferences application then you may well have deleted it from your system.
I think the only way that I know of to get it back, if you truly have deleted it, would be to reinstall your system or to reinstall System Preferences application using the Pacifist utility (shareware) and extracting it using your install disks (?) or a retail copy of OS X comparable to your system OS. Not sure if you can but you may want to check that out.
