ICloud Note Back Up and Adding A Device
I have an iPhone with Notes turned on to backed up to the iCloud.
I have an iPad with Notes not turned on so no iCloud backup.
The notes written on each of the devices are different.
Question:
If I add the iPad to the same iCloud account as the iPhone will the different documents merge on both devices?
You will have two accounts in the notes app if you don't get a merge with iCloud prompt when you enable notes syncing with iCloud. If you don't get this prompt, you'll have both an On My iPad and an iCloud account listed in the notes app. The On My iPad account will contain the notes that are on the iPad now; these will be still be stored locally on the iPad and will not yet be in iCloud. The iCloud account will contain only the notes synced from the new iCloud account.
If you do get the merge with iCloud prompt, the locally stored notes will be moved to iCloud and merged with the notes already in the account, and appear on all your devices just as you want.

Make sure that there are no other Macs backing up at the present time.
Pull the power cord from the back of the Time Capsule

Plug the power cord back in

My Time Machine is not backing up and gives me this error report:

I am looking for software to store photos with. I am not a fancy photographer, and really am just looking for the digital version of a photo album. iPhoto is not cutting it, mainly because it does not back up and restore easily on an external HD.
That's how Time Machine and iPhoto now work. Restore the library to one of the external HDs, check it for the photos you want, export them to the boot drive and delete the restored library.
If you know the file name of the photo you're looking for you can search for them in the TM backup using Find Any File.
My workflow allows me to do that:
1 - upload new photos to a folder on the Desktop.
2 - name the folder to represent the contents and date: 01/03/10-Toads Bday
3 - use a file renaming app to sequentially rename the photos in the folder to: 2010-01-03-Toads Bday-001.JPG, -002,JPG, -003.JPG, etc.
4 - import the folder into iPhoto creating an Event with the same title as the folder.
Now I can search for those file by file name with any app of my choosing. -

Thanks for the question. When you sign out of your son’s iCloud account you will be prompted to keep or delete the data on your phone. After you elect to keep the data on your device, you can setup your own iCloud account and the data will be merged/uploaded to your new account:

I've just created this new apple ID account and i need to know that if i plug my phone into my computer and sync my phone onto my new account, then delete my old icloud and apple account from my phone will my things be backed up onto my new icloud? such as my pictures notes contacts music ect... ?
Providing your Apple ID is not a .me or a .Mac address, you can change it with Apple and continue to use your account.
Start here, change your country if necessary and go to manage your account.
Once who have done this you can then correct it on your mobile device.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
When you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
If however, your Apple ID was a .me or a .Mac address, then you will need to create a new account, follow the instructions above for deleting your account on your mobile device and then tap the "create Apple ID" button to create a new account. -
since I moved, but have the same wifi password, wifi is on, still no backups on any of my devices? I have plenty of storage space and I keep getting the message that backup could not be completed. Am on mt lion os

Macbook pro 2008If you get the message "Backup not successful", I had the same problem.
My solution was to turn off some apps (Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>manage Storage, tap my device name in the Backups section, then look under Backup options) and try a manual backup. If it didn't work, turn off a few more apps and try a backup. Keep doing that until the backup works. Then try adding in some of the last batch of apps that were previously turned off - the objective is to find the app that causes the backup to fail. For me, I suspect that the one app I found had a bad data file that, when included in the backup, caused the backup to quit.
This can be a long process if you have a lot of apps that you originally turned on for backups. -
TS4009 icloud not backing up correctly
I just received my replacement iphone 4 and I'm trying to re-sync everything to my new phone. I followed the directions of syncing with wifi while in itunes as well as backing up with icloud but when i turned on the new phone it reverted to a old setting from last December.
It's as if the icloud backup isn't actually happening. I logged into my icloud account and it's like phone - settings from a year ago.
I reset and turned off the replacement phone and turned back on the original phone and everything was back to it's correct settings.

If it fails at some point, then try to zero in on the one app that seems to make the backup fail. (I had this problem and found one app failing, probably due to a corrupt data file.)
This process will take time, but if a backup works with no app data being used but clearly fails with the original settings, then somewhere in the mix of apps is a "bad" one. -

So my iPhone 4 backs up every night automatically without a hitch, but my wife's iPhone 4S is having problems.
1st, we couldn't get it to back up period. I erased the previous iCloud back ups, then started a new one and it backed up after about an hour. After we waited 24 hours and plugged it in overnight, it did not back up automatically. When we plugged in her iPhone to iTunes to make sure it said back up to iCloud there and it showed that the latest back up was today, but in iCloud settings on the iPhone it says it was 2 days ago. So I'm wondering if it is backing up and just not updating the latest back up statistics in the iPhone settings which would lead one to believe it isn't backing up. -
ICloud not backing up iPhone 4s data?
I have an iPhone 4S, for most of the time I back up on iTunes via my PC, but today I wanted to turn iCloud back up back on, just in case ya know,...well I turned it back on and hit the back up now tab,...the phone told me it was "estimating time of back up" and made no progress, it did this for 10 minutes and then said back up could not be completed and just gave me the date of the last back up I did before. I called apple cares and they told me to reset the network settings, restart the phone and restart the router. I did all this and nothing has worked. I dont think its a problem with the router because I can turn wifi on on the phone and surf the web just fine. Its just iCloud will not back up my phone....any suggestions or any ideas as to what is going on?? Thanks guys and gals.
Thanks for your help. I stumbled apon another user having the same issues. It has been determined that its the modem that has a firmware issue. Its the Arris TG862G wireless cable modem. The website says that they are working to update the firmware if customers want to wait...or we can call Comcast and get a new modem sent out for free.
