IComment every time I publish?

I've set up my blog using iComment on the main blog page. Each time I publish, I have to re-run iComment or the abilty to insert a commnet goes away. Is this really necessary?
It takes long enough to publish (heh hum you folks at Mac) the E N T I R E site each and every time, then upload it, but add the additional time to run iComment?
Hope someone can help. Thanks.

I did a little 'before & after' to track what running iComment does. The reference you see below to 'Journal' is because I replaced the web page name of 'Blog' with 'Journal'.
When I addeded the 'insertcommenthere' This is what was added (I did not RUN iComment at this point):
longdesc="InsertCommentsHere" alt="InsertCommentsHere" style="height: 24px; left: 512px; position: absolute; top: 263px; width: 153px; z-index: 1; " />
After I ran iComments the above code was replaced by this:
<!--
href="javascript:HaloScan('Journal.html')"target="_self">
<scripttype="text/javascript">postCount('Journal.html');</script>
// -->
This is all I've found so far. I'll be looking to see if this can be added to the iWeb template, but I'm no code surgeon.
I added the double dashes -- because the code was posting incorrectly.

  • Adobe Muse keeps crashing every time I publish any website all of a sudden

Adobe Muse keeps crashing every time I publish any website all of a sudden. Not just for the website I was working on but now all my websites. It was working perfectly fine and when I hit publish it just crashes. I have multiple copies and different websites and they are all crashing when I try to publish. It seems like it is not an error for just the one website I was working on but the entire program is not functioning correctly. Here's a screen shot of the error.

Mac or Windows? What's the error that appears? If it's an Apple Crash Report, please copy/paste the first few pages of it here.
I strongly recommend against it (for multiple reasons below) but if you uninstall Muse, then go to the Creative Cloud Desktop App, and choose "Previous Version" in the Find New Apps section there will be a dropdown arrow next to the Install button. That dropdown will list all versions of Muse.
If you've saved over top your existing file using the current version, reverting Muse won't work, since older versions cannot open files saved from newer versions. If you've don't significant work in the current version, that will be lost because you'll have to go back to the file as last saved using the prior version of Muse. Finally, there's a significant probability that error/crash is related to content in the file, network configuration, or other outside forces and if that's the case reverting won't avoid the error/crash.
If you share more info about what error you're encountering, I expect we can determine a workaround/solution.

  • Every Time I Publish to a Folder iWeb Saves EVERYTHING Again...

Every time I publish my website to a folder to preview it, it seems to create a new subfolder with all the same files instead of just saving over the original. Is there a way to stop that? If not, can I delete the older folder and files, though I do notice that some of those files in the older folders, like the index files get updated with each save, though they appear to be duplicates as well. Please advise. Thanks!

It's my experience that iWeb versions before '08 were a hit or miss proposition as to saving over the previous work on my hard disk. Often, I would wind up with multiple versions in the original save folder. I deleted them, after worrying a bit I had the correct ones. This worked, but was annoying.
With iWeb '08, I am asked if I want to replace the previous version before saving to a folder. So far, I have not had multiple complications. My recommendation is to upgrade to the '08 version. Of course, if you've done that and are having this problem, I have wasted your time, for which I'm sorry.

  • Every time I publish a new edition, my screenshots dissapear

Every time I publish a new edition, three of my five screenshots disappear, and I have to contact Tech Support to allow me to put it back.
It happens again and again and again - very frustrated with this malfunction, Apple could do better!

That's what I've got from Tech Support:
    Hello Len,
We are very sorry for the frustration. For your reference, we have filed case number 15727534 with our engineering team for further investigation. To assist our investigation please:
    - Change the file names of all five screenshots
    - Redeliver only those screenshots and required metadata via iTunes Producer (delete the question marks from assets' fields you will not be re-delivering)
    - Take screenshots of the process you use to upload those screenshots via iTunes Producer
    - If you see all five screenshots in iTunes Connect and/or in the iBookstore, please take screenshots of that as well and include a time and date that you saw them
Please sent that information in a reply to this message. Thank you for taking the time to provide us with this additional information.

  • Why recreate pages every time I publish?

I have three "sites" that I created in iWeb. Each of them has many subpages. I haven't made changes to site 1 and site 2 for many months; right now I am only making updates to site 3. But every time I go to publish, I have to wait for iWeb to publish every page for every site, even those pages in site 1 and site 2 that haven't changed. And then once the uploading starts, it takes FOREVER, like 10 to 30 minutes. If I then change a page, it doesn't recreate pages again and doesn't reupload pages, so the process just takes a minute. But then if I quit iWeb and start up again and make a change, the whole process starts over again.
Why is iWeb taking the time to update the sites that I haven't changed? There are no cross-links, so it's not like it needs to re-render the top of the pages where the links are located. I wish I could stop it from doing this as it would make publishing new pages MUCH MUCH faster.
    -Jeff

    Jeffrey,
Believe it or not, this is the normal behavior of iWeb. Since all of your 3 sites are saved into the same Domain file, then iWeb will go through the calculating "creating" pages process with the horizontal progress bar for all of your pages in each of your sites every time you publish. Thankfully, it will only upload the pages that have actually changed....otherwise the process would take even longer!
The only real solution to your problem is to separate out your first two sites (the ones that you don't update anymore) into a separate Domain file. It's not too hard to do, but you'll need to be deliberate about the steps and then be able to keep the Domain files organized. Mark Heaton (Apnewbie) has put together a nice page on doing this...
    http://web.mac.com/mark8heaton/iWeb/DomainSeparation/SiteSeparation.html
This is the only way to make your sites truly independent of one another in iWeb.

  • IWeb re-creates all of my pages EVERY TIME I publish a few, minor changes..

It all works properly after 1.1.1 but everytime I add a single page (even if I unflag the "include in menu" option) the site marker turns to red. Then, when I publish the changes, iWeb basically re-creates my whole site (taking more than one hour and a half!!!) but then, and here comes the laugh, it only publishes the actual changes (thus, takin no more than 5 minutes to upload them)!!!
So WHY does it attempt to re-create all of my site when it perfectly knows there are only a couple of things that will eventually get uploaded?!?
My site is structured in many different "sites" with various pages each: no matter what, when I add a page in one of the "sites" it starts to re-create all of them.
It's frustrating because it's (obviously) an intollerable waste of time (which doesn't occur when, for istance, I add a blog post or anything else not modifying the site structure).
    ****...

If I could, I'd send you a couple of screen-shots of
my tree structure just to give you an idea of my
    situation... ^^
You are certainly most welcome to send any screenshots my way so that I can take a look. Just send them to: [email protected]. We can also do a chat sometime if I'm online. You can see my online status on my webpage: http://www.dirtdoog.com Just click and chat if I'm online.
The problem, however, is: usually, you may not
publish on a same .Mac account from different
computers/domain-files because any attempt to upload
would modify the homepage of the .Mac site.
This is not true. The default page or site that opens when you type in your short URL (http://web.mac.com/yourname) is currently governed by whatever page you have listed first in order in the Site Organizer in iWeb. You can publish from another Domain file and iWeb will just put the files in a folder right next to the site folder that is already there. Just make sure to name the sites uniquely...otherwise one will overwrite the other. In general when you publish multiple sites with multiple Domain files, the first published site is the default for your short URL. It's probably easier just to resort to the full URLs in any case...
    http://web.mac.com/yourname/iWeb/SiteOne
    http://web.mac.com/yourname/iWeb/SiteTwo, etc, etc.
Could I do that by keeping the homepage identical in
all of the domain files (actually, it could be my
DISCLAIMER PAGE) and then modifying the others
separately and linking them to each other as external
    links?
This seems confusing to me. If you were to revamp your whole site and plan to separate it out into different Domains, I would suggest a separate Domain just for the homepage and disclaimers and what not...this would be like the very top level of your global site. And then you could have links to the various sections in this site and be able to make changes that wouldn't have to affect the other sites under it. But I think you have the general idea.
Before you go doing all of this, it would probably pay to have it well planned out on paper and also well organized on your Mac desktop. During the separating process, you'll need to make several copies of your current Domain file and keep them organized by uniquely name folders (since you cannot change the name of the Domain file). It's an involved process, but logically it makes sense.
As usual, if you find any of this information to be useful, could you do me a favor and provide me with feedback using the "solved" or "helpful" buttons in the title bar of my reply? Thanks.
Don't worry, if you run out of "helpful" and "solved" stars to give out, I'm still more than happy to help in any way that I can!

  • Every time I publish my captivate 6, the backgrounds change? Anyone have this problem? Or a solution

I am trying to publish my captivate 6 simulation. I just published it, the backgrounds keep changing or don't pull through and I have a blank screen. Any solutions to this problem?

    Hello,
Is this 6.0.1.240? In that case check the slide quality, and if it is the default Low, change to Optimized (new default since 6.1.319).
Moreover uncheck all compression settings in Preferences, Project, SWF size and Quality. And check 'Force re-publish all slides' when publishing.

  • Why do I find a duplicate export of a Smart Album in my Pictures folder every time I create a MobileMe Gallery Album from that Smart Album?

Using the last version of Aperture 2, I have noticed that every time I publish a Smart Album to my MobileMe Gallery, I find a duplicate of the album in a folder  with the same name as the Smart Album in my Pictures folder.  Why does that happen?  Can I prevent that?  If I can't prevent it, can I just send the folder to the trash without it having an effect on the Smart Album in Aperture or the MobileMe Album in my Gallery?

Select the album, Select all photos in the album, then click on the info button.   Number of photos and total size are on  top of info pane.

  • Muse Crashes every time I try to publish.

Muse Crashes every time I try to publish. It happens with FTP and HTML. I had a business catalyst site that worked but when I tried to update it it just crashed every time. I tried to create a new one and now it won't let me publish to business catalyst either. Just crash, crash, crash. It gets to 11% then crashes

    The last update is horrible:/
Muse crashes again and again and again. Not possible to work with this version!!!
Sorry, but we don't have time to try this or try that... The fact is, using version 2014.2 no problems. Suddenly it's impossible to work with.
Make a version 2014.2 available for download so that we can downgrade. I can't wait until the problems are solved, because we have to change some things very urgently.

  • I updated to os x 10.8.5 today and now I cannot publish changes to my web page through iweb.  iweb crashes every time I try to publish

I updated to os x 10.8.5 today and now I cannot publish changes to my web page through iweb.  iweb crashes every time I try to publish

    First do the following:
1 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iWeb's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
NOTE:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
Next, in Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
To open your domain file in Lion or Mountain Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

    Hi,
That link takes you to the Facebook for iPhone app.
You have posted in the Mac App Store for Mac OS X. (I know it's somewhat confusing especially with the new forum format).
Try deleting the Facebook app from the iPhone by pressing down on the app on the iPhone until it jiggles then tap the circle with an x in it. Then tap the Home button to stop all the apps from jiggling.
Now tap the App Store icon and and re download the Facebook app again.
If that doesn't make a difference, post over in the iPhone Discussions forum at this link.

  • I am trying to convert a Microsoft Publisher Document to PDF but it fails every time although the reason is not clear. Any ideas?

I am trying to convert a Microsoft Publisher Document to PDF but it fails every time although the reason is not clear. Anyone else had problems like this and how do I solve it? Thanks. Ray

    Hi raythree,
I'm sorry that your PDF conversion is working. Can you please tell me if you're getting a specific error message? Knowing that can help pinpoint the cause of the conversion failure. However, here are a couple of things that you could try:
Clear your browser cache (steps to do this vary by browser).
If you're using a work computer, check with your IT team to confirm if you have firewall/proxy settings that restrict the ability to upload files to the Internet.
Try another web browser.  A list of supported browsers for accessing the ExportPDF service is available here: http://www.adobe.com/acom/systemreqs/.
Also, note that there is a 100MB file size limit, so if your publisher file is larger than that, it won't upload to ExportPDF.
I hope this helps. But let us know if you need further assistance.
    Best,
    Sara
