Id,Password and Host

Hi
Jim a begginer , i just intsall Oracle at my pc ,
i want to use SQL to create tables but when ever , i open
" Oracle SQL*Plus" .. it prompts for
User name.
password
Host
what should i write in these fields , i mean during installation, i didnt give any user name and password and what will be my host ..
can any one please reply me

A quick search of the forums would have given you this answer.
Assuming you are using Oracle9i, try:
scott/tiger
system/manager
sys/change_on_install as sysdba
You can leave the host blank if you're just connecting to the default database on your PC.
If you are using Oracle10g, you will have set the passwords yourself during install.

I believe that starting with 9.2, you have to specify different passwords when you install (can't be the default).

Hi,
Im trying to get the Oracle 8i for 2000 to run correctly. I did a download. Problem is getting pass the password screen. The host string is giving me trouble. What should go there? Any place where the password and host string info are stored for later retrieval?

If you installed the default database then you should type in system as the user and manager for the password and ORCL as the host string (these are the defaults).
The hoststring names (database aliases) would be in the tnsnames.ora file uder your Oracle_Home/network/admin directory
If you login as system or a user that has DBA privileges, you can change passwords as you see fit
syntax:
alter user identified by somepassword;

I downloaded Oracle Forms,Reports 6i.Along with it I got SQL Plus 8.0.Following
are not working
Username:scott
Password:tiger
Host String:Empty
or
Username :system
Password:manager
Host String:Empty
I want to Know what to enter for Username,password and Host String.If i want to look in the TNSNAMES.ORS Plz Tell What to look for in it.

Developer 6i is a client software, not database server. Ask the dba of the database, you are trying to connect, for valid userids/passwords/hoststrings.

If you need to capture them after the application has been initiated then :
DECLARE
u_name VARCHAR2(10);
pw VARCHAR2(15);
host_name VARCHAR2(15);

pw := GET_APPLICATION_PROPERTY(PASSWORD);
host_name := GET_APPLICATION_PROPERTY(OPERATING_SYSTEM);
END;
You can do this in the PRE-FORM or WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE trigger. If you need to access those variables at some time in the application , then I suggest that you use global variables or create 3 items on the null canvas and assign these values to them.

Steps to activate Host Credential password and username

Hello People,
Please can any body help me on the steps of activating Host Credentials password and username.
I want to export data from an ms excel file using Load data from user files, but it keep asking for host credential username and password

Go to your database server , not your pc
USERNAME AND PASSWORD -- your database server OS username and password , like Administrator and password.
secpol.msc /s –> Local Security Policy window appear.
Left Side panel ->Local Policies -> User Rights Assignment <– Enter
Right Side Panel -> Log on as a batch job –> here Double Click and Add Administrator User.

Drag and drop very long password from host MacBook to guest iPod Touch?

Hi,
iPod Touch 64GB Software version 3.1.2. MacBook as in signature.
When I built my home wireless network, I chose a very long and complex password (63 characters) to protect the access to my network. Once the passphrase was randomly chosen, it was no problem to copy/paste it from the MacBook to the wireless router. The key is WPA (AES, TKIP)
But now, with the iPod i've just purchased, I have found no way to achieve that kind of transfer. I have tried to type the password manually into the iPod, but in spite of several very careful attempts, no success.
Please, two questions:
- does the iPod operating system support that kind of key? (WPA -AES,TKIP).
- if it does, is there any way I can copy it from the MacBook, and somehow paste it in the iPod, at the required location? Or any other way to "sync" the iPod so that it imports and remembers the password?
I know that a work around would be either to cancel encryption in my home network, or to change the password to something much more simple. I could do that, but that's the last ditch. I am not security obsessive compulsive, but the amount of private users networks around me are so many, and all of them are encrypted. There must be a reason for that

Nearly three months with no response? I'm facing the very same issue. The fundamental problem is the inability to enter funky characters (backtick/grave accent, pipe/vertical bar, tilde, etc) in the Wifi password box.
Two possible solutions I can offer:
1) Enter the password in the Mail app, then copy/paste to the Wifi password box.
a. Go to the Mail application
b. Select the To or CC field
c. Press "123" access the non-alpha keys, then "#+=" to get access to grave accent (`), pipe (|), curly braces ({}), and tilde (~).
d. It's easiest to do the actual composition in the body of the email, so copy your funky characters from the To:/CC: field regularly.
d. When you're done, select all the characters, copy, and paste into the Wifi password box.
2) Email yourself the password and temporarily use a simple password on your network to retrieve said email from the Touch. Copy and paste the password into the Wifi password box.

Third-party security software or router security settings can also cause this issue. To resolve this, followTroubleshooting security software issues.
Downgrading to a previous version of iOS is not supported. If you have installed software to performunauthorized modifications to your iOS device, that software may have redirected connections to the update server (gs.apple.com) within the Hosts file. Uninstall the unauthorized modification software from the computer.
Edit out the "gs.apple.com" redirect from your hosts file, and then restart the computer for the host file changes to take affect. For steps to edit the Hosts file and allow iTunes to communicate with the update server, see iTunes: Troubleshooting iTunes Store on your computer, iPhone, iPad, or iPod—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you do not uninstall the unauthorized modification software prior to editing the hosts file, that software may automatically modify the hosts file again on restart.
Avoid using an older or modified .ipsw file. Try moving the current .ipsw file (see Advanced Steps > Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw) below for file locations), or try restoring in a new user to ensure that iTunes downloads a new .ipsw.

How to change my password and my incoming and outgoing mail servers

Hi I have used Outlook Express for years and I know how to configure "everything" I need within the settings pages because their settings pages are all "logical" with everything out in the open.
However, Thunderbird "hides" their settings behind buttons and confusing screens.
There are many tutorials that explain how to set up Thunderbird from the beginning, and show how to set up a new email account. But I have not been able to find a tutorial on how to change my email account password "after" I have been using Thunderbird for awhile.
I also see no way to change the incoming and outgoing servers. For example, I have changed from one hosting company to another hosting company and I need to use the new mail servers from the new hosting company and I do not see any tutorials anyplace that cover ongoing or day-to-day activities with Thunderbird.
Can you please change your settings screens to make Thunderbird easier for new people to find these normal and necessary items?
Also can you please point me to a tutorial that shows me how to change my email account password and change my incoming and outgoing servers?

If you wan to create an account, you must the delete the existing account.
So take backup of your emails if your using POP3

If you can't remember your apple id or password then sadly that phone has been bricked, without that infomation te activation lock cannot be removed by apple or anyone else.

How can i restore my iphone 5s as i forgot my icloud password and sec questions

I bought a new iphone 5s (32G Gold)
and when I connect it to itunes asked me to restore from my old iphone 4
with all my account settings and passwords.
but I have a problem with my account for icloud password and security questions because my cloude id is *************** and with no problem with my apple id "*****************", I tried to restore my new iphone after I turned off find my iphone from icloud setting and when its restore was finished the iphone is locked and asked me to unlock the iphone with a ****************** that I forget the password and security questions and when I tried to enter my account id "**************** with no problem with its password it says to me "this account can't unlock this iphone"
when I visit tradeline (Apple products dealer) I found no answer and they adviced me to contact apple directly.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
I have asked for your email address to be edited out. Posting your address in an open thread is a sure way to be bombarded by unwanted email, remember it will be here long after you have resolved your problem, for automated detection software to find.
If you want people to contact you, enable others to see your email address in your profile.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID, verify the changes, enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone".
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, verify it once again, delete the iCloud account from your device and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

Not unless you have the previous owner's AppleID and password or can contact them.

Agent not installing correctly and host not appearing in console

I encounter troubles with agents on some servers running Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 4 (Nahant Update 5).
*1)* The install script doesn't run correctly. It hangs after some times
install.log :

If I install the rpm manually, the packages is successfully installed. I then just copy the .uce.rc file at the correct location.
*2)* On those servers when the agent it running, it fails to connect to the SDS with this error in the error.log :
29739:2007-11-21_17:01:13 ERROR [ default_logger: source_unavailable: #0 ] 17236224 Failed to initialize application. Check that you entered passwords and keys correctly.
Any idea of what could be done ?

Still don't know why the agent installer doesn't work correctly, but I found the reason of the host not appearing in console :
The uce.public file had to be installed in /opt/local:uce/agent/bin
