IdeaCentre A520 FHD Screen ICM file

For those whom don't have a screen calibrator (i.e. Spyder3 or Spyder4, etc), and want a more accurate colour profile i have attached the ICM file from the Spyder4 Pro screen calibrator.
To load the ICC profile, download the file, and unzip it. Then right click on the file, and click on 'Install Profile'.

As a workaround, I can suggest the excellent QuickMonitorProfile tool by Eberhard Werle: http://quickgamma.de/QuickMonitorProfile/indexen.html
It can create a profile just based on the rgb chromaticities, white point and gamma in the EDID information from the monitor. On my W520 FHD it reads out rxy=0.676/0.314, gxy=0.215/0.665, bxy=0.141/0.069, wp=D65, gamma=2.2. This matches what is in the LCD panel datasheet: http://www.notebook-lcd.ru/pdf/B156HW01_V_4.pdf
The created synthetic profile is better than nothing, and is the minimum what Lenovo should have included.

  • Ideacentre A520 Upgrades

It might be a good idea to let others know about successfull upgrades. So I'll start with mine:
System Lenovo ideacentre A520 MTM: VEZ1AGE
    - Moved from bloatware loaded Win8 back to plain Win7pro (well, not actually an upgrade but I cant stand tiles). Required to switch to legacy boot mode in BIOS . I let Windows update search for the drivers and installed only those it could not find from OEMs (Aver Media, Broadcom, Intel, Realtek). To avoid bloatware I used the Windows device manager to install the OEM drivers and not the setup programs. The only Lenovo piece of SW ist the OSD driver (Lenovo OSD V1105)
    - Installed Crucial CT256M550SSD3 256GB SSD in mSATA port as boot drive. Required changing boot order in BIOS.
    - Replaced I3-2328M sandy brigde CPU by I7-3610QM ivy bridge quad core

It won't be for gaming. It would be used for home office and light multi media...i.e. video and photo editing, etc. I was also looking at the Thinkcentre M92Z Edge (not the M92Z) and it's the same info...was supposed to be avaialble in Oct and Dec 2012 and the site still says coming soon. If you do not recommend the above, then which one do you recommend. I prefer Windows 8 (pro) and a touch screen.

  • Trying to install snow leopard on my Macbook Pro.  After already having problems with Grey screen, blinking file with a question mark, etc.  Computer now says that one of the hard drives is failing. The "hitachi" drive says it's failing in disc utility.

o.k.  So, I've been tinkering with several "self help" fixes for several days now with no positive results.  I'll explain my initial problems and then end with my most current situation.  In hopes that someone out there will have a good suggestion or possibly remedy for the issues i'm facing
First, my problem started after my wife played a game on my macbook pro and the computer froze.  She went into a panic and decided to shut down via power button.  When computer restarted she got the blinking file/grey screen and that problem continued for a couple of days before I began using steps from various support topics from apple concerning the grey screen/blinking file folder.
Ultimately, yesterday I decided to erase my Macintosh HD file as one tip suggested.  Following the brief online and on screen (via the process) tips that were there.  Once that was completed I attempted to reinstall snow leopard (my most current version on hand) into the pc.
At first, I thought this would work.  It looked promising.  But, after several hours the installation screen returned with failure.  I attempted to repeat.  And, even repair drives during this try and re-try process.
Now, today, one of the drives..  "hitachi..." states that it's failing and is in red letters with no ability to repair via the disc utility screen.  The Macintosh HD drive shows that it's o.k. But, this drive is listed under the HItachi drive so I think that's where a problem might lay.
So, I guess my question really revolves around.. What if anything can I do to get the hitachi drive back up?  (short of taking it to a repair facility and replacing.)
And, how on earth can i get my OSX back up to I have a laptop again.
Operating on a macbook pro here.  It's my lifeline.  Otherwise, I am using a Windows desktop that i'm not that fond of.  lol
I'm trying to bring this 2006 laptop back to life.  Trying to avoid a rather expensive repair or the purchase of a new laptop.  Also expensive...
    Any help would be appreciated.

Well, running on a 2006 model.  I did not have a startup disc.  Initially, it booted up on original software in 2006.  Since then, I've upgraded to 10.6 via a box set.  And, since then I think I popped it up to lion.
All I have on a disc is snow leopard.  And, I can't get farther than the setup screen due to hard drive.  I'm taking to a apple authorized repair store right now.  We'll see what they tell me .  I'm just going to weigh the cost of repair vs. buying new.
Another bad, stupid thing is I had no means of backing up my stuff.  So, I might have lost things like music, vids, etc.  we'll see if they can recover.  If the cost is too much for repair I might just forget it and start over with a new system.  Just not sure at this point.

  • How do I add time/date stamp to my screen capture file names?

    I'm on mac osx.
I'm trying to add time/date stamp to my screen capture file names. (at the moment it's just 'Picture 1' etc..)
I've tried the following command  in terminal but have not had success. please help!!
defaults write com.apple.screencapture name "datestamp" at "timestamp"
    killall SystemUIServer

Surely someone else will provide a better solution. Meanwhile, however, you might want to try the following script. Copy and paste the script into the AppleScript Editor's window and save it as an application. Then drop your screen capture files on the droplet's Finder icon.
    on open theDroppedFiles
        tell application "Finder"
            repeat with thisFile in theDroppedFiles
set theFileName to name of thisFile
if (word 1 of theFileName is "Picture") and ¬
(word 2 of theFileName = word -2 of theFileName) then
set theExtension to name extension of thisFile
set P to offset of theExtension in theFileName
set theCreationDate to creation date of thisFile
set dateStamp to short date string of theCreationDate
set timeStamp to time string of theCreationDate
set name of thisFile to "Screen Shot " & dateStamp ¬
                        & " at " & timeStamp & "." & theExtension
                end if
            end repeat
        end tell
    end open

  • HT4236 I'm trying to recover my lock screen picture file.

I'm trying to recover my lock screen picture file. It is a very important picture to me and I cannot find it in the backup (not that it might not be there, I just can't find it). What do I need to do to recover this file?
If it where the wallpaper I would just screen shot it, but unfortunetly it has all the extra stuff on it.

Try deleting your iPod Photo Cache folder.  See:

  • Adding Photos to Mac Screen saver files

    Hi,
I'd like to add some additional photos to the "Cosmos" screen saver file that came with my MacBook Pro but I can't find this file through Finder in order to add my photos.
Has anyone any idea if it's possible, and if so, how ?
    Thanks.

Used to work, as in the past I added a batch of my own stuff to the Cosmos saver. As I recall I also edited some file that was there to list my additions (that might have been in Panther), Didn't see such a file in the Leopard Cosmos saver, so what I did was just rename my own astro photos to the same thing that was already there, then dragged my files into the Resources folder replacing what was there with mine. I just added some more, bringing my total up to "Cosmos18" and it still works fine. You'll probably want to repair permissions from Disk Utility afterwards.

  • Error generating screen commentary files - OPM 10.2

    Hi everyone,
I'm getting an error generating a screen commentary files.
    Link to error:
The commentary files could not be created. PLease ensure that your configuration settings are correct and you have write permission to the specified commentary directory.
It does not seem to be a issue in regards to permission to write as I have tested other rulebase projects on the same computer and am able to generate commentary screens.
I've also redeployed WD. Running OPM 10.2
Any suggestions re: what else I can do?
    Thanks,
    Isamu

    Hi,
I was able to generate this error on my system by restricting the access to "development\include" folder to Read/Execute only. The error disappeared once the write access was granted on the folder. Please check whether you have 'write' access to all the sub folders and parent folders of your project working directory.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,

  • Possible to downgrade / replace T530 FHD screen?

Hi.  My 85 year old father (who lives in another state) recieved a T530 with an FHD screen.  The resolution is too high for him -- everything is too small.  He can't return the machine, and none of the usual fixes (changing DPI or lowering the resolution) work for him or all of the programs he uses.
I've spent way too much time discussing this with him, (family tech support!) so now I have one simple question:
Is it possible to replace the FHD screen with an HD screen?  Is it a straight swap?
    Thanks for any help --
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I don't think you need to lower the resolution (non native resolutions always look bad/weird), have you tried increasing the size of the desktop icons to "big" and the fonts to 150% or so?

  • W530 FHD Screen Issue

    Hi all,
The FHD screen on my W530 does not look very sharp. The text looks a bit blurry, especially for a 1080p display. I've tried changing sharpness, contrast, etc. to no avail.
The screen also has a slight reddish tint to it. I've tried using the color profiles found in this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/lenovo/695861-t-w530-fhd-color-profile.html to little avail.
    Any Suggestions?
EDIT: Blurry text is now fixed; Reddish tint is the only problem now.

With the 7 digit code and serial number from your laptop (don't post the S/N here) you can check the parts lookup and look for the panel model: click here
As alternative you could install a software like HWINFO or SIW or Everest and use it to check your panel model.
    Hope this helps!

  • Where Awesome screen shot files are saved

I want to know where to find my screen shot file?

Nalin probably means the Safari extension Awesome Screenshot.
When you make a screenshot from a webpage, a page should appear with a message like this:
    Congrats! Here is your screenshot.
But perhaps the extension isn't working well anymore.

  • Screen Shot file format

Is there any way to change the default screen capture file format from .png to something like .jpg?

In addition to what Niel suggested, you could use a program called Deeper that offers you a GUI interface to change not just screenshots, but many other aspects of OS X. It's available from Apple Downloads as well as from places like versiontracker.com.

  • Open a screen painter file

    Hi Dear;
what is the sentence that open a screen painter file.
    thank you Dear.

    Hi,
Open a srf where, if you need to sow the form in the SBO Client you need to load the form, you can use two ways:
One, for my the best, use the FormCreationParams, this is the sample in the UI API help:
    Dim oForm As SAPbouiCOM.Form
    Dim creationPackage As SAPbouiCOM.FormCreationParams
    creationPackage = SBO_Application.CreateObject(SAPbouiCOM.BoCreatableObjectType.cot_FormCreationParams)
       creationPackage.UniqueID = "MyFormID"
       creationPackage.FormType = "MyFormType"
       creationPackage.BorderStyle = SAPbouiCOM.BoFormBorderStyle.fbs_Fixed
creationPackage.XmlData = FormXml     // You can load the form with XML
// Add the form to the SBO application
       oForm = SBO_Application.Forms.AddEx(creationPackage)
And other is use the method LoadBatchActions of Application object, this is the sample in the UI API help:
    Private Sub LoadFromXML(FileName As String)
    '// Assuming a directory named "XML" under "C:\Program Files\SAP Manage\" exists
'// And a reference to Microsoft XML was added to the project references
        Dim oXMLDoc1 As MSXML2.DOMDocument
        Set oXMLDoc1 = New MSXML2.DOMDocument
'// load the content of the XML File
        oXMLDoc1.Load ("C:\Program Files\SAP Manage\XML\" + FileName)
'// load the form to the SBO application in one batch
        SBO_Application.LoadBatchActions oXMLDoc1.xml
    End Sub
The srf file is an XML Document.
In booth cases you need to load the XML file, I think taht if you use MSXML API is very simple.
    Best regards.

  • Screen Capture file location?

Suddenly my screen captures are sent only to the clipboard instead of the desktop as they used to. How can I change that back? I'm using ShiftCtrl+Cmd4 or ShiftCtrl+Cmd3.
Also, where would you change where the screen capture files ends up?

You're pushing too many buttons. The additional ctrl button copies to the clipboard.
See the Preference panels>Keyboard>keyboard Shortcuts for the list of buttons.

  • Buying a T520 is the FHD screen worth the extra $200

Im buying a T520 in the next couple of days. My hobby is photography and I edit a lot in LR and PS. I am looking at going over my budget and getting a FHD screen instead of the HD+. Can any one give me any feedback, is it worth the extra $200.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If you plan to work with LR and PS FHD does worth extra 200 .
You can downgrade other components like HDD, Video graphics card, no WWAN card, to compensate screen price.
You can upgrade other components in the future, but you can't upgrade the screen.
