  • Ideapad S510p Screen Brightness Fluctuates

    Hi
    2 weeks before I brought a Lenovo Ideapad S510p.
I installed Windows 8.1 and all available latest drivers from lenovo website.
But a peculiar problem I am facing is the screen brightness doesn't stick constant. Sometimes it dims. When I again change the brightnesss settings in power option, it again restores. But still its not consistent. It fluctuales little bit.
    Please help.
    Regards
    Partha Sarathi Mishra

I think you are correct that it is the factory default to be set for Auto Brightness. There have been quite a number of threads discussing issues with Auto Brightness over the past few months. There seems to be a pretty wide range of how this feature operates from one iPad to the next, from what I remember reading in those threads.
I'm not so sure that you have a problem with your iPad but like you said it's more of a nuisance than anything else. I am using the original iPad so maybe the Smart Cover does have some effect. I wish I had more to offer but maybe someone else with the same experience will respond with a suitable fix for this.

  • Screen Brightness Keeps Dimming

My new Sony SVS131290X laptop will not keep it's screen brightness lit.  It keeps dimming by itself.  I have tried setting the function + F6 key, going to power options and adjusting the brightness there, and also tried advanced power options.  It dims after 30 seconds.  Has anyone else had this problem?

Hi everyone, I just recently purchased a Sony Vaio Pro 11" and I have been struggling with this issue the past 2 days, and now I have a proposed solution! Prior to doing this I had tried two things (outlined below) and neither of them fixed the issue for me, so if you are in the same boat this might work for you too. WHAT WORKED for me was going to the graphics properties control panel:Right click on the Desktop home screen and select "Graphics Properties" > click the "Power" tab > click "On Battery" > and under "Display Power Saving Technology" click OFF That fixed all my auto-brightness adjusting woes. Hopefully this helps someone else  The two steps I took that didn't quite work:1. Went to Vaio Control Center > Image Quality > turned OFF the auto brightness = still had the dimming issue2. Went to the Start screen, scrolled down to the apps section and in the search bar > typed services.msc > opened up Services > clicked "Sensor Monitoring Services" > went to the drop down menu and changed from "manual" to "disabled" and restarted my laptop = still had dimming issue

  • Screen brightness to dim and unable to adjust using slider and buttons

hey guys ive had my macbook air about a week now and one night the screen decided to turn really dim all of a sudden i assumed this was due to me shutting down however the next day wen i turned it on again the screen was just as dim and when i try to adjust the brightness setting via the slider in prefrences or the f1 and f2 buttons nothing is happening,
have any of you had the same problem if so how did you get it solved
    cheers

you have to reopen the display adjustment in the System preferences, and Un-click the Automatically Adjusts Button. I kinda like this feature, but not all do, its an Apple thing, takes a bit of getting used to, saves the eye strain. I have noticed, as I am blind in my right eye, and tunnel vision in my left. that this is really good , and helps me a lot..
Play with the MBA , you'll figure it out..
    Have fun

  • Ideapad s405 screen brightness issue on win8

I read about issues after downgrading to windows7, i have the same issue with light control on windows 8, what is the solution to that problem?

    hi attilakk,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
The Issue is "Only high and low option for Brightness" This only show under WIndows 7 and can be fix by reverting to Windows 8.
You said you have WIndows 8, can you share if the same is happening or what exactly is happening in your system.
    Thanks

  • How do I restore screen brightness?

I'm working in Final Cut Pro 7 - my nephew pressed F1 several times causing the screen brightness to dim to nearly black.  What is the keystroke to restore the primary screen (I have dual screen and the secondary screen is 'normal' brightness). Help!
Okay. I'm an idiot. F1 dims F2 brightens.  Problem solved. Oh, I'm never going to live this down, am I?  Perhaps it's time for a nice bottle of wine.....

Happens to everyone on occasion but not everyone is man enough to admit it
You can change the output volume from System Preferences > Sound also.

  • IdeaPad U430 Brightness

Hello, I have a Lenovo IdeaPad U430 running Windows 8.1, it's the i7 model with touch and SSD.
I bought this PC to use for school but I am having huge issues with the screen. The brightness is constantly low so I can't really see anything on the screen. I have to be in a dark room to see it perfectly. It's also impossible to watch movies on it.
I have tried to upgrade and downgrade drivers, turned off automatic brightness and tried a few settings in the power settings. No luck. Any ideas on what I can do? this is driving me crazy.

    hi Rivellio,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
Just to verify, when you try to toggle the brightness up by pressing the brightness key (F12), is the brightness automatically going dim?
If you have the U430 with Intel® HD Graphics 4400 and the graphics is automatically going dim, can you try the following:
    1. Install this Win8 driver
Intel Video Driver for 64-bit Windows
    99.4MB
    2. When finished, check this guide for options on how to disable adaptive brightness.
Let me know how it goes.

  • IdeaPad P500 screen went dim

I've searched around these forums and not been able to find a solution for my problem.  Here's the whole story. I've had my IdeaPad Notebook P500 for over a year, and rarely had an issue with it.  Today, I accidently touched the F11 key, which happens to be the "Brightness minus" key.  Immediately, the screen went very dim, to the point where it actually hurts my eyes to be typing this.  I can adjust the brightness sliders up and down on the screen, using both the F11/F12 keys and the slider box available from the "Brightness" selection under "Settings".  Even though the sliders go up and down, the screen stays the same very dark level. Windows 8 64-bit is my OS. I have uninstalled and re-installed the Intel HD driver. I have shut down the laptop and turned it back on while holding the F12 (Brightness plus) button.  Yes, it sounds crazy but someone mentioned it on another thread so I figured what the hell.  It was useless, though. I have rebooted several times. Anyone have a clue as to why one simple mistype has apparently hosed my computer, and better yet, anyone know what I can do about it? Thank you.

Here is a cut and paste from another topic I found through laborious searching.  My P500 is basically a Best Buy packaging of a Z500, so I figured I'd give this a shot, and it worked!  Hope this helps others. khoofi
‎09-20-2013 09:55 AM Finaly finaly after 5 hours searching, I found the best solution: 1- install latest driver of Intel Hd Graphic 40002- install latest driver of your graphic card3- This step will fix the problem:- go to registery by regedit and change the value to 0xf048 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0000]
    "FeatureTestControl"=dword:0000f048
     OR
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0001]
"FeatureTestControl"=dword:0000f048 this will fix the problem.

  • Q10 screen brightness is very dim in dark environment

In a dark environment the screen dims so much that reading text on a white background is terrible.  Is there a going to be an update to stop the auto brightness feature?

You're not the only one. This is a severe issue that will hamper sales for sure. The BlackBerry Q10's maximum brightness is the DIMMEST out of every other phone on the market today.
IN FACT, the maximum brightness on the Q10 is 22% the maximum brightness of the iPhone 5 (in lumens): http://www.computerbase.de/artikel/handys/2013/blackberry-q10-im-test/3/
BlackBerry is already getting a ton of flak for this issue, as many, MANY users are furious. See this comparison with the Bold 9930: http://forums.crackberry.com/blackberry-q10-f272/very-dull-screen-brightness-level-q10-808915/index5...
There is also a few news articles circulating: http://www.newstimeafrica.com/archives/31992
I will be returning my BlackBerry Q10 tomorrow to Verizon Wireless for a full refund. Back to the Bold 9930 until a PROFESSIONAL product is released. I don't even mind straying away from BlackBerry at this point. Not making brightness control available to the consumer is a violation of trust.

  • Inconsistent Actions With "Dim Screen Brightness" Key (F1)

On the MacBook Pro, the F1 key is automatically mapped to dim the screen brightness. However, sometimes when I press this key, the screen shuts off (or at least goes to the lowest brightness setting) and other times it just goes down a single brightness point.
I can't figure out why it does one thing sometimes and another thing other times. Is there some logic afoot here? Or just whatever MacOS feels like on the day?
    thanks,
    tom

Could this be due to the present brightness of the screen or are you saying it could be at 90% brightness, then you press the F1 key, and the backlight turns off?
If it is dark in the room, the screen can be at its lowest setting, then pressing F1 will turn off the backlight.

  • Screen goes from dim to bright? WHY?

my screen goes dim ..not really black but goes dim back and forth...why is this? i thought it was something related to the screen going dim before it sleeps but i noticed non of the boxes were checked. and as im writing this the screen goes dim and back to bright

    Hiya HOR,
no problem. The only thing you could perhaps try is (in system preferences/ displays) to adjust the brightness settings and see if that makes a difference.
Now, I must say that my (2006) macbook's screen is totally illegible in bright sunlight, even when changed to ignore the energy saver settings when on battery (i.e. best performance, rather than best battery efficiency). This did make the screen brighter for general use.
I was under the impression that yours flickers in response to activity (e.g. quick scrolling on browser); but now that you have described it, I think, the answer might be in system preferences. Good luck.

  • Random changes in screen brightness every few minutes (while working)

I am beginning to become unhappy with my new Thinkpad Twist. The laptop was just delivered and no changes to the setup were made.
The screen brightness changes while I use the device in an unpredictable way which is just annoying to me.
I prefer to work with full screen brightness and disabled the energy saving settings that would dim the screen after some minutes of inactivity. Still the screen just dims from time to time (also while I a am working) and also changes back to full brightness in a similarly unpredictable way. Those changes in brightness might take some minutes between them...
Do you have any ideas what software settings I should consider?
Also, the laptop appears to have an ambient light sensor. Could those changes in screen brightness be related to this sensor? FYI: Light conditions remained the same, no turning on or off the lights. Covering the position of the sensor did not induce any reaction.
    Any ideas?
    Solved!

Took me a while to find this but I believe this is the order of menus, links and drop downs to get to this feature.

  • N96 screen brightness decreasing randomly!!!

I got a new N96 .When I got into the menu the screen appears bright then slowly the brightness is decreasing
And when I get into the setting of the screen there seems 4 part for the brightness setting but the most darkne 2 ones seems at the same level of brightness
Please help me is there any update that prevent and fix this problem.Or does anyone have the same problem?
    Thanxxxx

Any luck with resolving this blackout problem?
Just started with my early 2008 macbook, 10.6.8 (which doesn't have the "Automatically adjust brightness" function, darn). Don't know if this has anything to do with setting computer and display to "never" sleep two weeks ago. I can get screen brightness back if I play around with pressing the dim button all the way down and then pressing the brighten button. The brightness will eventually increase with the command. Brightness lasts for varying lengths of time, from a few seconds to ~2 minutes.
