IDM70: SAP Provision Framework & Role-Approvals

Hi all
How can I use the SAP Provisiong Framework (PF) with Role Approvals?
User-Provisioning works fine without any Approval Tasks. I can create a user in the Workflow and assign a role which triggers the SAP PF Provisioning-Tasks for Exchange/ADS and SAP ABAP.
Then I tried to assign a Role where I defined an Approver and an Approval task. I expected that after the Role assignment is approved the respective Provisioning Tasks (ProvisionADS, ProvisionABAP) are started automatically, but they aren't.
The Approval is raised in the Workflow, I approve it and nothing happens. If I look at the User-Details the role is not assigned to the user.
Do I have to link the SAP PF-Provisioning Tasks to the Approvals Approve-Node?
If yes, do I have to define an approval task for every system-type and possible combination of systems???
Or what else should I include in the Approve-Node?
Any help appreciated.
Regards
Michael

OK, I solved the question:
I followed the "Implementing pending approvals" Tutorial step by step and "wrapped" my ApprovalTask with an PreprocessApprovers and a CommitApproval task. But I'm quite sure the CommitApproval Task would be sufficient.
This leads to another question in the same area:
If I use an Approval Task with a defined Approver and Sub-Tasks in its Approve/Decline-Nodes (as I use for e.g. Workflow public "Create User" Task) I see the Approval in the Monitoring Approval Queue.
The MX_PENDING_VALUE created during the Role-Approval is not listed there.
What is the difference, technically speaking, between a Role-Approval (MX_PENDING_VALUE) and a "normal" Approval (Task + Subtasks)?
Why do I have to commit the one and not the other?
What other usage has the MX_PENDING_VALUE / Where else is it used (since it is more complex than simply creating an "interrupting" Approval Task)?
Points still available
Regards
Michael

  • As ABAP tasks in SAP Provisioning framework

    Hi Experts,
In HR provisioning , for a new hire when a new MX_PERSON is created in Identity store , User accounts need to be created in the SAP systems from IDM .For this I noticed "AS ABAP tasks " in SAP provisioning framework with create/delete user "To custom" passes .
The Job which reads and writes HR data to identity store is not in provisioning folder . But these tasks discussed above are in provisioning folder in identity store. please advise as to how to call these tasks and create SAP accounts whenever a person is getting created in identity store.please advice .
Please let me know even if there  is any alternative way to do this.
    Thanks in Advance!

Just assign target system privileges via business roles to these users in the self-service UI and they're automatically created to the target systems by the framework.
This is assuming that you have connected the desired target systems, event tasks, ACCOUNT<TARGET SYSTEM> attributes etc correctly based on the documentation.

  • Error when importing SAP Provisioning Framework

    Hi,
Has anyone here successfully imported the SAP Provisioning Framework that is provided together with SP1?
I noticed that the there are 2 different files of this SAP Provisioning Framework: one is provided automatically when installing the IDM 7.0 SP1, and the other is provided as an attachment to sap note 1106354.
But I could not import either of them. For the previous one, I got error: <i>Could not update identity center with job '1582/DummyLinkScriptJob'.</i>
And for the latter one, the error is: <i>Could not update identity center with job '1619/UnAssignUserFromSunOneGroup'.</i>
Can anyboby give me some hint, where the problem could be?
    Many thanks in advance!

    Hi Frank,
thanks a lot for your help. Actually I did exactly the same what you mentioned in your reply. And the steps I followed could be summerised as :
    1.     Install Windows 2003
    2.     Update Windows 2003 to SP2 , as required by SQL Server 2005
    3.     Install IIS component , as required by SQL server 2005
    4.     Install SQL Server 2005
             .Mixed-mode security
             .Not case-sensitive (default)
    5.     Install Management Console
    6.     Copy License file
    7.     Configure JVM in IC
             .Use sapjvm_5
    8.     Install JDBC driver
             .Configure JDBC driver in IC
    9.     Create IC Database:
             .mxmc-test  localhost  sa
             .mxmc-install
    10.     Create a new IC configuration
    11.     Create a new Dispatcher
                         .set as default dispatcher
    12.     Create a new Identity Store
    13.     SAP note 1106354
              .Copy files
              .Update stored procedures
              .Importing SAP-Provisioning framework
Is there anything missing comparing to your system configuration? I did not install the workflow/monitoring components since there are not relevant with importing jobs.
    Best regards,

  • Updating the SAP IDM Provisioning Framework

    HI Laurent,
I know this has been posted and answered for some time but reading the documentation on how to upgrade the provisioning framework is not really clear to me what will happen and I am hoping you have the experience now to help me (importing the SAP Provisioning Framework.mcc file).
Reading the documentation it sounds like the whole provisioning framework from SAP should have been disabled and renamed during implementation but all I have done is use the SAP framework and put the custom tasks in a different folder.
In the identity center I have the provisioning framework folder and underneath I have custom tasks, core and connector folders.  Do you know if I import the new .mcc file will it overwrite my custom tasks folder and effectively delete it?
    Many thanks,
    Andy

    Andy,
I branched this off as a new question. Take a look at these documents as a start.
Updating the SAP Provisioning Framework Version 2 - SAP NetWeaver Identity Management Provisioning Framework for SAP Sys…
    https://websmp205.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700001230022010E
However, the basic process is just to import it.  You should make sure that you have backups first.  Note that there are some options when importing that will help you through controlling what gets overwritten.  Best practice is always to make sure that your active provisioning framework is renamed so that when you import the new version it will not cause conflicts.  I've never really had to upgrade my frameworks so hopefully someone out there will have some "hands on" advice to share.

  • Identity Management 8.0  - SAP Provisioning Forms UI display

    Hi guys!
I'm trying to setup a new environment with SAP Identity Management 8.0, using the standard SAP Provisioning Framework.
I've already followed all install guide and configuration steps, but the Web forms for default provisioning tasks are not appearing on the Self Service tab or Manage tab. I've already tried to modify the forms to let anonymous and everyone to execute the form, but no clue.
The tabs appears OK, but no tasks are available to choose
We are using the lastest patches available until today.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Eduardo,
Please go to the forms and right click over the Identity folder.
The option Show Folder in User Interface should be selected
If this doesn't help please try restarting the JMX and check your Datasource.

  • Provisioning Framework for SAP IDM 7.2 -- Download link required

    Hello Experts,
Could you please provide me the link to download Provisioning Framework for SAP IDM 7.2 .
    Thanks in Advance,
    Regards,
    Dev

you can get links to all doco [here|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/index?rid=/webcontent/uuid/4000d09f-a9b9-2d10-8b90-ba3a0f9fe0c8]. That link is accessible from IdM 7.2 homepage.
Yes, I meant using version 7.2 of provisioning framework with 7.1 components.

  • Custom class for GRC provisioning framework 2 on IDM 7.2

    Hello,
I am currently trying to modify the GRC provisioning framework validation workflow in order to validate privileges on roles rather than each privilege individualy. After reading through the code, I tried to create a class which would extract the list of privileges of the role and send it to GRC for validation. But I am faced with a problem integrating it in IDM 7.2.
The provisioning framework use "Execution Task" to call a static java methods. This is the process I tried to work with, thus I created my own java class based on those in com.sap.idm.grc.ac, and replaced the call to a call to my class. The problem is, when starting the job, the dispatcher thrown an exception:
Could not carry out method (com.inventy.idm.grc.ACPrepRequestRole.exec)
The produced .jar should be in the DSECLASSPATH of the dispatcher (I check the .prop file directly, after adding it to the MMC), it still work with any other file in the same folder (grcfr.jar, among other), it just seem like it can't recognize mine.
Is there any other place where I need to register my .jar? Is it even possible to modify a Java Execution Task like this, or I will need to redo half the framework in Javascript?
Attached are the task created, the classpath extension and the folder where the jar is located.

    Julien,
I'd probably open a note on this one.

  • Provisioning EP roles and user groups through CUP

    Hello experts,
I am configuring EP provisioning through CUP.
I created the EP connector as per the instructions in the config guide. But I have not added any parameter values or did any field mapping. I have imported necessary Portal roles.
My EP connector is tested successful. But when I try to provision a role through CUP, I get this error:
Error processing your request, Request no: 4 in stage : NEW_AS11.
In the log it shows,  Field Mapping is not set for Application  (EP)
But when I go to field mapping, I get this error for EP.
Data retrieval from system XP1 failed : com.virsa.ae.service.ServiceException: com.sap.engine.services.webservices.jaxm.soap.accessor.NestedSOAPException: Unable to create message from source.
I could not find much documentation on fieldmapping.
Are there any steps that I am missing for EP provisioning?
    Thanks in advance..
    Kee

    Thanks for your response.
I have set up the parameters while setting up the EP connector in CUP.
My role search URI is correct  but I am not sure about the last three parameters...
    ASSIGN_GROUPS:OC sapgroup
    ASSIGN_ROLES:OC saprole
    CHANGE_USER:OC sapuser
    CREATE_USER:OC sapuser
    CREATE_USER:password password
    DELETE_USER:OC sapuser
    LOCK_USER:OC sapuser
    LOCK_USER:islocked true
    RESET_PASSWORD:OC sapuser
    RESET_PASSWORD:password password
    ROLESEARCH_URI -  http://portalserver name:port number/UserRoleSearchForAEService_5_3/Config1?wsdl&style=document
ROLESEARCH_URI_USERNAME -  same user Id I provided for the connector
ROLESEARCH_URI_PASSWORD See your system administrator for the value.
    UNLOCK_USER:OC Sapuser
    UNLOCK_USER:islocked false
ROLE_DATA_SOURCE -- ROLE.UME_ROLE_PERSISTENCE.un:   ??? What  is the role data source?? Is the value that is  provided is correct for the UME roles
SCHEMA_ID SAPprincipals   ?? What does this Schema Id mean???
USER_DATA_SOURCE  ????  Should we mention the user data source on the Portal system. In our case, it is the LDAP. But what would be the corresponding parameter value for LDAP.
So when I go to field mapping to create one for EP, I get the following error:

  • Use GRAC_USER_ACCES_WS to provision Business Role

I have situation where I need to provision several hundred users across 90 business roles. I have been experimenting with FM GRAC_IDM_USR_ACCS_REQ_SERVICES (underlying FM for enterprice service GRAC_USER_ACCES_WS) to automate mass provisioning using GRC access requests. I figured out how to use the FM to provision technical roles to users but cannot get it to work for GRC Business Roles.
If the service cannot provision business roles, that would imply that an IdM would also not be able to do so. We are currently looking at IdM (non-SAP) solutions. Now I wonder if the value of business roles we are building will be diminished if an IdM is used.
Is it possible to provision business roles using the service and/or FM? If so, any details on the input values required would be much appreciated.

    Hi Harinam,
Thanks for the details. I have already raised a OSS message to SAP.
I have implemented SAP note 1930923 in GRC sandbox system and can see that the mail issue I am reporting was no longer appearing. But I have seen new one this time
After note implementation: (Change Account Request Type with Business Role Assignment)
Hi GRC User Demo 1 (Z_GRAC_USER1),
The Request number : 592 , has been processed and the Request is Closed. The details are as follows:
XX Business role assigned to Z_GRAC_USER1
    Kind regards,
    Access Control Administrator
Before and After note implementation: (Change Account Request Type with Business Role removal)
Hi GRC User Demo 1 (Z_GRAC_USER9),
The Request number : 593 , has been processed and the Request is Closed. The details are as follows:
    YY Role removed from Z_GRAC_USER9 ( )
    Kind regards,
    Access Control Administrator
Now the issue during role assignment is resolved, but during role removal mail notification says role has been removed from user and ends with empty brackets ().
For single roles in this brackets it usually fills the system name. May be for business roles since there will not be any specific system it is coming empty, but I think SAP should fix this.
Let me know if you are also facing the same
Since you confirmed that you are using business roles, let me know any critical issues which you came across as part of SP13 as we are also on SP13 and could be helpful.
Thanks once again for taking your time in replying for my issue.
    Regards,
    Sai.

  • Object reference not set error in SAP.Portal.Framework.Core.PortalWorkerReq

    Hi,
I am using .Net PDK 1.0. I am often getting the error
[NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.]
       SAP.Portal.Framework.Core.PortalWorkerRequest.ReadEntityBody(Byte[] buffer, Int32 size) +119
       System.Web.HttpRequest.GetEntireRawContent() +327
       System.Web.HttpRequest.GetMultipartContent() +57
       System.Web.HttpRequest.FillInFormCollection() +244
       System.Web.HttpRequest.get_Form() +50
       System.Web.UI.Page.GetCollectionBasedOnMethod() +70
       System.Web.UI.Page.DeterminePostBackMode() +128
       System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain() +63
It is very errartic, sometimes the page gets loaded and at times I get this error. Could someone please tell me what causes this error?
    Thanks
    Swetha

    Hi,
This error occurred in the page where I used the file upload control. The control was working fine before. We tried installing entire PDK again and then applying the hotfix-1, but nothing worked and then I had to use an URL iview to invoke an ASP .Net application just for uploading the files.
    Thanks
    Swetha

  • Best practices / preferred usage of SAP standard (delivered) roles

    Dear Experts,
When going about designing roles for a new system, what is the preferred usage on SAP standard/delivered roles?  I was thinking of using them as a "base", then tweaking auth objects here and there to make the roles work but the more I work with them, I find it may be better to create roles entirely from scratch.  A lot of the time, I find a lot of inactivated auth objects or objects that seem to not really be needed when looking at the t-codes offered in the menu (S_TCODE).
In that case, I figured it might be cleaner if I started creating roles and adding t-codes via the Menu and maintaining only the auth objects that are proposed in PFCG (and adding a few if necessary).
Do people typically build their roles around these the standard SAP role set or is it preferred to create your own and only use the SAP standard roles as reference (i.e. the t-codes offered in the menu, etc.)?
    Thanks for any insights!

    > When going about designing roles for a new system, what is the preferred usage on SAP standard/delivered roles?
Those are provided by SAP as a reference so that you can consult with the Authorization Structure of a Standard Position / Task for which you are going to create your own role. For e.g. what are the TCodes, values of Objects should be given to users for their tasks.

Absolutely! Please do not use SAP delivered roles for you use and also don't try to alter any values.

  • JCO or SAP Connector Framework

    Hello
I have seen in these links that JCO is deprecated:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/40/003c41325fa831e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/89/8a185c148e4f6582560a8d809210b4/content.htm
Developers are supposed to use SAP Connector Framework, but it seems that this is a Framework only useful from a Portal Application. What I want to do is to invoke RFCs in a R3 System from a webapp using struts. I have done this using JCO.
Should I implement it using another solution?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Marcos,
You can, of course, use SAP JCO in simple Java Project by importing needed Jars.
I provide you a sample of connection class with method that you can use for calling a function.
You can use method "showFunctionParameters()" to test your connection...

    Hi,
that looks like a bug. I had a similar problem with installing the layout server. The problem persisted still in 7.1 SP01. I would suggest to open an OSS message.
